The 14 Best Pop-Ups In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Where To Find Them: Tâm Tâm on the last Sunday of every month. On the last Sunday of every month, Isabel’s takes over the kitchen at Tâm Tâm and gives us a day of vegan magic. All it takes is a textured vegetable protein and a no-skips Latin playlist to transform the Vietnamese restaurant into a plant-based Tex-Mex party. A table of two won’t have any issue ordering the entire menu (which changes all the time). If they have it, get the barbacoa. Slightly sweet and creamy mole is the base for a mountain of soy protein that has a delightfully bouncy texture. Reservations are announced on their Instagram a week before the last Sunday of every month, so be on the lookout for that." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino

Wonderful pastries and other yummy goods. Zombie service. I guess being friendly or efficient isn’t a requirement for seasonal employees. It took the employee forever to ring up two iced café lattes with two pastries. It would be faster to buy plane tickets at the airport. But the indoor seating had great air conditioning and overall a relaxed shore vibe

Google
We tried both the iced latte and hot latte and both were good! The breakfast sandwiches and paninis are also great. :) edit: i think the coffee quality highly depends on the barista...some days it's great, some not so much

Google
Great food, ok coffee. I have been going to Isabel’s for years, their quality and service remains the same year over year. The pastries are fresh and reasonably priced for the quality. I highly recommend the crumb cake, but get there before 8:30 or they will likely sell out. Breakfast sandwiches are great too. I had the crumb buns, feta Spanish pastry, and chocolate croissant, this last visit, I would recommend them all. The only disappointment for me is the coffee. I find it to be ok, but there are better places in Avalon for coffee. They have some inside seating but mostly outside.

We ordered takeout from Isabel’s in Avalon and it was incredible! We got six different sandwiches, and every single one was so good: fresh ingredients, great flavors, and made with care. I had the chicken Caesar wrap and it was especially delicious, the chicken was tender, the lettuce super crisp, and the dressing had just the right tang!! And to make things even better, they surprised us with half a chocolate cake for free! It was such a kind gesture that really made our day. You can tell this place takes pride in both their food and customer service. We’ll definitely be coming back every time we’re in Avalon!

Google
The donuts and sticky buns look great but were dry and bready. Similarly, the bacon egg cheese bagel sandwich was dry, boring, and flavorless. Otherwise, it's a nice venue and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Google

Google
Came in searching for blueberry pie, and purchased the blueberry peach pie. The pie was amazing!! Lots of fresh blueberry and peach flavor not over powered with sugar or cornstarch with a great crust. We also ordered smoothies, which were huge and a meal in and of themselves. The croissants were rather average but my husband liked his bacon egg and cheese sandwich. Cute place and friendly service.

John Foley

Google
I love it here and nearly always get the Turkey, Prosciutto & Swiss panini, knocked off one star because takeout orders have a decent chance of being wrong (I should check before leaving though)

Yelp
Just came home from Isabel's bakery and am still shook up! While I was enjoying my apple croissant at one of their outside tables, a sea gull swooped down and stole it! An unexpected seagull's wing touching my face is a frightening and horrendous experience. Shame on Isabel's for their lack of warning to their customers!

Eva S.

Yelp
Waited 20 minutes for my coffee just for it to be wrong. I ordered a latte and got a cold brew. I am not happy with the service. Whose isabel because she has no idea what shes doing.

Yelp
Solid sandwiches. I had the chicken avocado sandwich which was good but nothing to write home about. It's expensive too. But I guess that's just the world we live in right now with this crazy inflation. Staff were very nice and the space looked clean.

Yelp
The BEST donuts I have ever eaten. A MUST for breakfast if you're in the area. Ambiance is eh but it has outdoor seating which is good and the service is all good. Nothing outstanding but nothing horrible by any means. Definitely check it out and get some donuts!

Yelp
Lovely people, many options. I will critique a 2-layer cake; the icing was clearly a commercial/canned product, not good, but the cake served its purpose when I needed one.

Yelp
I regret being too hungry to take photos. Both times! Fantastic lunch wraps and sandwiches on baguettes. Go for the baguette options especially. I especially enjoyed the yellowfin with bacon and chicken with gooey mozzarella. Others liked the tuna, BLTs, Caprese, and many other chicken combos. Salads also good. But if you love sandwiches on good bread, try one of the baguette choices.

Kathie M.

Yelp
Thanks for the delicious happy birthday cake for Joe! The green shamrocks on white buttercream frosting on a moist yellow cake was the best we have found on the island. We had heard your cakes were the best.

Kevin B.

Yelp
Decent bakery. Breakfast sandwiches are underwhelming. Just paid $9 for a pork roll sandwich and there was 1 piece of pork roll on the sandwich.
google avatar

Bridget J.

Yelp
Terrible. I ordered a chicken and avocado panini and waited 40 minutes only for them to tell me they never started and had lost my order. I asked someone behind the counter about it 20 minutes into waiting to which they rudely told me they were working on it. Not once did an employee ask me if I were waiting on anything in the 40 mins I stood next to the counter.

Yelp
I have been a huge fan for years and it was always our breakfast place the entire stay, until this year. Something has changed. Yesterdays cream donut not what it was in the past. Todays iced cinnamon roll, horrible. It was crunchy like it had been there for days! The last thing is what I refer to as "forced tipping". This is where they spin the iPad around giving you the option to tip; 15, 20 or 25 percent. I always tip the young women working there, but hate this new method. All in all, won't be back.

Yelp
Down in Avalon on the Jersey Cape is the upscale resort of Avalon.  Famous for its ample sand dunes in many parts of the beach, it also has a nice commercial district with a fine eatery called Isabel's.  Isabel's is a casual but friendly spot to go for breakfast, lunch, and the occasional pop-up dinners they might offer.  But I go for the pastries which are among the very best on the whole Jersey Shore.  Their varied choices of sticky buns are moist and rich, the crumb buns are among the tastiest I have ever eaten, and their iced cinnamon rolls are full of flavor.  If it's okay to every once in a while undergo a sugar overload, Isabel's is a great place to fill that need.

Yelp
Isabel's is an adorable cafe right in the heart of Avalon's business and entertainment district. It is not upscale, new, or updated by any means, but it's clean and comfortable. They have a large selection of both baked goods and desserts, as well as lunch and dinner selections (on selected times/days in the Summer.) All of the workers are incredibly helpful and pleasant. There are tables both inside and out for dining. Though you have to order at the counter, they will bring your food out to your table when it is ready. My first trip to Isabel's I got the Roast Turkey & Cranberry panini. It is sliced turkey, cranberry sauce, brie cheese, and lettuce on a baguette roll and pressed as a panini. It is not a traditional panini that most will be used to, as it's a long roll and not as crispy... but it's very good. The sandwich was filling. I also grabbed a chocolate cupcake to go. It was okay. Nothing super exciting or life changing. My second trip to Isabel's was strictly for baked goods and I grabbed a few of their large sugar cookies (Celebration cookie) for my kids. They were also okay. A bit dry for my kid's liking, but the flavor was good.

Yelp
I love Isabel's. They have great salads, sandwiches, coffee, and pastries. It's not easy to find reliable, good-quality cafes here on the island. So I am more than grateful for Isabel's! It's an adorable little shop, that even has local art and crafts. They even have painting events once a week in the summer evenings. Some of my go to's, are the wasabi fish wrap, the peanut chicken wrap, the Greek salad with protein, a fruit croissant, any of the breakfast sammie's, and always an iced coffee. It's nice they have a coffee stamp card, too. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Great spot for breakfast. Lots of delicious bakery items and breakfast sandwich choices. We need to stop by for lunch.

Heather G.

Yelp
Stopped to grab a few pastries and glad I did! The woman who helped me was so nice. Got an assortment of pastries and donuts - everything was really good. Also got a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel and it was one of the best simple breakfast sandwiches. Cute place and we will always go back!

Brian R.

Yelp
Always a favorite! Friendly service and everything I've ever ordered is terrific!! Bakery, breakfast sandwiches, coffee and more!
google avatar

Yelp
Hate to say that we were completely underwhelmed by Isabel's. We tried one of the quiches and the pesto breakfast sandwich. Neither tasted fresh and both were very pricey for what they were. The coffee was self serve which I was fine with and had a nice flavor. I don't like to bash establishments but with so many other choices in walking distance I don't think that we will be going back to Isabel's
google avatar

Natalie M.

Yelp
Really disappointed there was a total of one slice of bacon (split up into 4 tiny pieces..) on my breakfast sandwich..? Not worth the money at all

Ruth M.

Yelp
Love this place, everything is good, staff friendly, good prices for good food. Relaxing to sit on patio and enjoy the activity of the town.

Yelp
Celiac safe!! We were so thankful to find a restaurant that offers safe gluten free without the danger of cross contamination. We got turkey avocado, chicken with goat cheese, grilled chicken with mozzarella and all were delicious. We got carried away and bought gf tiramisu which wasn't very good, chocolate cake which was ok and peanut butter pie which was ok. We were thankful for a Celiac safe gluten free option on the island that was also delicious. Thank you Isabels!!
google avatar

Marie K.

Yelp
This place was wonderful! The prices are very reasonable, the ingredients are fresh, and the service was friendly. The chopped salad was decently sized and absolutely delicious. Isabel's is definitely a spot to check out for a nice lunch or for a sweet treat!
google avatar

Carissa L.

Yelp
The coffee here was...wait, I don't know how it was, because the staff here let us stand near the counter and actively ignored us until we left. It wasn't busy, so it's not like they were too frazzled to notice us. There were at least four people working, some who kept walking past us and looking right at us, but there was no acknowledgement whatsoever. I had already gotten an unwelcoming vibe from Avalon and this really didn't help.
google avatar

Joe L.

Yelp
Service was terrible gave them three chances and every single time something was wrong or a part of the order was forgotten

Connor L.

Yelp
great bakery/service - with one of the best cream filled donuts I've had in a long time.

La M.

Yelp
Ordered a "grilled cheese" and this is the garbage I got. Cheese was just a slice of cold cheese & bread was dry

janna m.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast sandwiches and pastries! During Covid, great online ordering system and efficient pick up after ordering. We regularly order bagel sandwiches and egg free cinnamon buns. On our order this morning, I noted it was our sons 8th birthday when you ordering a donut. They surprised us with a box of eight extra-sprinkle donuts with a birthday message. Good people, good business, excellent food!

Eric F.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years and almost exclusively for lunch. Everything we've ever tried was delicious. The sandwiches and bread are excellent. I normally get one of their salads - my favorite right now is the garden salad with their tuna salad. The vegetables are fresh and cold and the tuna is delicious. Other favorites are the BLT, Roast Beef sandwich and prosciutto and mozzarella. Sometimes we finish off with one of their large chocolate chunk cookie or a chocolate croissant. I read some of the other reviews and I'm a little surprised about the below average ones. The baked goods are great. I really can't say anything about their breakfast because Isabels to us is lunch or a bakery.

Jam W.

Yelp
Creative panini selection...friendly staff They have a great pastry options. You won't be disappointed

Rob L.

Yelp
Perfect for a light morning breakfast. Quick and easy. The girls in the shop are very nice and really know how to do their job. For a store that isn't known has a 'coffee shop' their coffee is delicious. The outdoor seating is amazing as well. Avalon mornings are amazing and sitting outside allows you to capitalize on those mornings. They also allow you to take a dozen of your choice of pastries, so you can share the goodness with family or friends. Delicious, cute and welcoming are just a few words I would use to describe the wonderful Isabel's.

Tom D.

Yelp
I would pick 0 stars if I could have. I was very disappointed when I called in my order and walked up to pick it up. I went in and they didn't have my order ready and asked if maybe I gave a different name. I said know and told them what we ordered. They then proceeded to give me have the the order and told me they are making it now and we will bring it out in 5-10 minutes. After waiting 20 minutes my wife finally went back inside and ask again. Not only did you not bring it out as promised it's still sitting on the counter getting cold. Thank you for the cold sandwiches and now watered down iced coffee. Tom

Yelp
Pastries and baked goods are great, sandwiches are ok, but service leaves a lot to be desired.

Yelp
I needed a birthday cake and it was fantastic/ ordered it a day in advance. Creamy buttercream frosting and decorated beautifully! Great local pastries and coffee.

Not G.

Yelp
Bagels, glazed donut, crumb buns and multi-grain croissant all were delicious. Service was prompt and polite despite it being a very busy morning.

Jackie K.

Yelp
Great place for some fresh pastries. My hubby got a chopped salad and I got a crab lump panini. Earlier I got a delicious multigrain croissant. Would definitely come back. I like how they had savory bread options like me ham and cheese bread. Cash only but they have an atm machine inside.
google avatar

Erin K.

Yelp
If you are looking for more than a morning pastry and coffee you may want to pass. Got a chicken panini for lunch and the avocado was hard as a rock and there was a ton of cheese on the sandwich with barely any chicken. Rather expensive for a sandwich that doesn't come with any sides. Other than that the shop itself is cute, but Avalon has a ton of other better lunch places.

Sid P.

Yelp
Sorta of a one stop shop for bagels, coffee, desserts and sandwiches. Good food and friendly staff and outdoor seating options.

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch while vacationing in Stone Harbor. Menu looks good but food is just ok. The service is just awful especially since there a bunch of kids working here. We had ordered my son something off their children's menu and I asked if it was fried and they said it wasn't. To my surprise, it was breaded and because of that, he wouldn't eat it. When we went to exchange it for a different kids meal, they refused unless we purchased another meal for him (for $6.75!!) The manager (who couldn't have been more than 18) had no idea of customer service and told us since they couldn't resell the food, they had to charge us. I used to work in the restaurant business so I know that when a customer is not happy with their meal, the protocol is to take it back and get them something else off the menu at no extra charge. They refused to do it here and instead proceeded to argue with us. The manager was downright hostile with us and did not want to rectify the situation in any way. Not surprisingly, we won't be back (not for the overpriced mediocre food or service) and we'll make sure to tell all of our friends who come here about our experience as well. This place definitely left a bad taste in our mouths.
google avatar

Maggie O.

Yelp
We got an absolutely delicious birthday cake from Isabel's today- not too-too sweet, and I'll even say it was remarkably flavourful, for a vanilla-vanilla cake! Isabel waited on us and was very helpful - my sis and her family had lunch there earlier in the day and reported that their salads were great! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Well I don't even know where to begin - b/c our experience was really bad here with the catering. Really bad! This past Saturday we spent $550.00 for them to provide catered trays for a 40th b-day party. 1). The bruhsetta with brie and roasted peppers was NOT on toasted bread, and the amount of brie and roasted peppers on top was meek. The fact it was on non toasted bread also made the bread slices soggy. 2) The veggie tray was awful. For $40 a try they served carrots, celery and radishes. None of the veggies were fresh. The carrots were all speckled white and very dry (like they had been sitting around for a month). Celery was all white with brown marks at the ends (also cut into very messy stalks, not neatly cut for a party tray). Radishes had specks of black rotting all over them (they could have at least cut these off). 3). the chicken peanut satay appeared and tasted like a 12 year old made it. Dry, no flavoring, crusting was bland and dry as well. Look like it was made 2 days prior. A looked like a dried dog biscuit. This food was not something I would ever recommend getting for a party. It appeared not fresh and as if teenagers with no food prep experience had prepared it. On top of it all, I mentioned something about the carrots not being fresh to the manager - she adamantly told me they were fresh and showed me the bag saying "they just got delivered." I explained back "just delivered or not - those are old carrots. You don't serve those. Ever." Then she told me "well that's what carrots look like in the store." I disagreed with her and was shocked she told me that. This lady clearly doesn't know fresh food from old stale food. Maybe go to this store for a sandwich or a pastry - but DO NOT order catering from here. They also would only take cash. No credit cards. For a catering order I found that inconvenient to the customer.

Yelp
Finally I found a place that offers something different that the boring pizza and pasta that passes for "italian" food at the shore. The sandwiches are knockoffs of other well known bakeries, like Panera or Cosi. I had grilled chicken with tomato and mozzarella. It had a nice pesto on it that made it quite yummy, served on their own fresh baguette. My girlfriend roast beef with caramelized onions and horseradish mayonnaise. Our friend had grilled chicken with avocado that he raved about. My only complaint was that my chicken may have been grilled to finish it off, but it tasted like it had been microwaved. Overall, I would recommend if in Avalon.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
I ordered a prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich, which was delicious, but out of our group's six orders, five of them were wrong. Attention to detail was missing-- a sandwich that should have had no Gouda and avocado had Gouda and no avocado, a sandwich order came out as a salad, and one order was completely forgotten. We had to wait at least 45 minutes for our orders. It was clear that the workers consisted entirely of high school students, so I can't entirely blame them. However, management should spend more time on training if they would like customers to return. Good ingredients will not be enough.

Rita N.

Yelp
Has dinner at Summer Salt tonight- the farm to table pop up restaurant that is open outside in evenings. Truly one of the best meals I have had in 20 years T the jersey shore. Totally amazing food and superior service. Can't wait to go back!

N. D.

Yelp
This place is attractive, the service is good. We asked for a key lime pie and what we received had nothing to do with key lime...one bite and the the remainder landed in the garbage. The effort carried a price of $30!

Jim H.

Yelp
I don't know why this place exists except to catch overflow from more crowded breakfast options. The baked goods appear to be from a generic industrial bakery, the order process has no order. I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel: no life to the sandwich. There was one girl working two portable gas burners with a line that at times was twenty deep. This is not meant to take a shot at the people working there, this is at ownership. You did not provide your people with the tools to succeed. This is not a single visit review; I have given Isabel's a number of opportunities, done.
google avatar

Kasey R.

Yelp
Fresh bakery pastries and bagels. Breakfast heaven at this place. Cute seating outside and some inside. Clean facility and friendly staff.
google avatar

Skylar S.

Yelp
My family and I will never spend our money here again! So disorganized! Their food is nothing special. I wasted my time and money! I ordered my food for there, and after waiting for 30 minutes they delivered my food to the wrong table in a Togo bag. My boyfriend had to resolve the issue himself. The workers aren't friendly. The food isn't exquisite. I wanted to grab a quick lunch, but going home and ordering take out would have been a more satisfying option.
google avatar

Andi T.

Yelp
Just stopped into my favorite beach restaurant, Isabel's, and I had to write about a delicious new menu item. I love all their sandwiches but decided try their new Veggie Burger - great decision on my part. It was so moist and flavorful that I was tempted to order another after I finished! It was served on a wrap with a hummus spread and delicious tzatziki dipping sauce. They have added a few new items to the menu this year and now I am excited to try those too. I definitely recommend Isabel's to anyone I know visiting Avalon!

Dana N.

Yelp
Don't even step inside.. I ordered a frozen drink and I waited at least 15minutes for a drink that takes 2 minutes... And 10 minutes after I ordered they asked again what we ordered. Very overpriced and slow.. Wish I would've looked up reviews before stopping in for coffee.
