A friend took me to Ishizawa for a weekday lunch as a pre wedding celebration and it was such a lovely choice. We went for one of the sushi omakase lunch sets and everything was done with care and precision. Nothing flashy, just quietly excellent sushi that lets the ingredients speak for themselves.
The chefs communicated with us in limited Japanese, which somehow made the whole experience feel even warmer and more personal. There was a lot of smiling, nodding, and gentle explanation. The staff were also very attentive, always topping up tea and making sure everything was just right without being intrusive.
We were recommended a seasonal sake to go with the meal and it paired beautifully with the sushi. It elevated the whole experience and was well worth it.
I also learnt that this is a place you need to book quite far in advance, so planning ahead is definitely recommended. Once you step inside, it genuinely feels like you have been transported to Japan. Calm, refined, and a very memorable meal overall.
