Apart from the English-speaking crustaceans, this is Peaks Island - a small island three miles off Portland’s coast. It’s one of our favorite places to visit, and it’s only reachable by ferry (runs every hour and costs around $8 roundtrip). Once you get there, rent a bike, explore the beaches and vacation houses, and eat a required lobster roll at Island Lobster Company. Took the ferry from Portland and immediately knew I needed to have lunch here. The menu and view were better than everywhere else on the island. It’s counter service and then grab a table. Despite a decent size line it moved quick. We ordered steamed clams, lobster Caesar and lobster BLT. All were excellent! I hope I can stop by again sometime.

I tried the crab roll, yuck! I thought it would be lump crab meat, not a claw meat compilation. The place has a great view and the service is good and quick. I love many varieties of crab bit this didn't work.

Stopped here after taking the ferry from Portland with an hour to kill. You walk in, order, and seat yourself. Cocktails are $12–cheaper than what we are used to! We got the lobster bisque and fries. The soup was really good and creamy, would recommend. Fries were meh. We sat outside in the patio and enjoyed the view of the water.

Average oceanfront seafood shack. The food is really basic. The lobster roll is tasteless and has more bread than anything else. The fish and chips are full of oil, and the fries are soggy. It’s a great place for a beer, but forget the food.

The best (and definitely freshest) lobster I’ve ever had. Pulled directly from the bay out front. Warm and friendly staff, great food (also had steamer clams) and an unbeatable view.

A great experience on a rainy day. Great service, amazing lobster BLT, and good chowder. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Beautiful views from deck. 100% will recommend to friends and family visiting.

Really good food! Everything tastes so fresh. I got the crab roll, which I highly recommend. My friend got the lobster roll (with butter not mayo) which he said was good but I think I enjoyed my meal more. My husband got the fried fish sandwich which he liked, surprising because he’s not a huge fan of fish! The French fries are sooo crispy - I do recommend getting at least 1 serving for the table - but every meal comes with a bag of Cape Cod chips so you don’t need much more! The view is beautiful if you sit and stay. We all ordered different cocktails and all thought they were very sweet, so might suggest a beer instead. But otherwise, everything was great. Really friendly staff and the bartender was nice and funny.
