For the Best Ceviche in Lima, Hit These 12 Cevicherias - Eater

"This old tavern in the bohemian neighborhood of Barranco, owned by chef José del Castillo, offers traditional and homey recipes from Lima. Isolina’s cebiche, tasty and honest, is considered a classic. It’s made with the freshest catch, boiled sweet potato, red onion, canchita (corn nuts), choclo (large kernel corn), and a perfectly battered fried octopus that adds a touch of elegance to this dish." - Liliana López Sorzano

"Rank: #20 "Chef José del Castillo is giving back to Lima the ultimate comfort food experience, recreating the feeling of a mother’s love at the table with delicious and nostalgic food in generous sharing portions. Set in a historic house in Barranco – the favourite area in Lima for bohemians, artists and intellectuals – it has the authentic ambience of an old family home."

Amazing food! What else can I say?! Just real down Peruvian comfort food. Just make reservations ahead of time. Definitely one the best ones. Great location in Barranco to walk right after a great meal.

Disappointing experience from the start. There was a strong draft inside the restaurant, which made the food go cold quickly and created an uncomfortable atmosphere. The waiter wasn’t helpful at all — we asked about the difference between the small and large portions, and he just said the small one was for one person and the large one for sharing. However, the large portion was massive, and considering we had already ordered starters, he could have advised us better. Regarding the food, nothing impressive. Unfortunately, the overall service and ambiance didn’t meet our expectations.

Located in the charming suburb of Barranco, Isolina is a statement of why Peruvian cuisine is so unique! The place itself is really gorgeous, with that atmosphere of being from another time! The dishes and cocktails are all delecious (I totally recommed the Aji de Gallina for it is one of the best I have had so far). All dishes can be for either one or two people, and they are all ver well served (I would say 3 peoplecan a share the 2-person meal). If you have sweet teeth, try the desserts - they are also quite generous in their portions! Price-wise, it is not cheap but it is not expensive either - especially considering what they deliver in terms of service and food quality. Now, due to their fame, there´s always waiting list (they do not do reservations) and it took me 40 minutes to be in. But despite that I would definetely go there many other times.

If you want to try authentic Peruvian cuisine, Isolina is the perfect spot. Everything we had was delicious, but my top pick was the classic lomo saltado — flavorful and perfectly cooked. They also have a great selection of interesting and well-balanced drinks. Even though there was a bit of a wait for a table, the experience was absolutely worth it. Warm atmosphere and super friendly staff. Definitely a place you shouldn’t miss!

This is one of the more popular spots to eat in Miraflores and with good reason. They have a lower and an upper floor for dining. The staff was amazing and very kind, we got our food quite quick. We ordered their lomo saltado, make sure that your order for 1 or 2 people only as that is more than enough. Our portion was too big for both of us. However, the taste was really good. The ambience in the restaurant was great!

Great food, BIG portions good for sharing and friendly service. Plan to reserve in advance. We opted for the upper floor dining room. We had the papa rellena, causa and Ají de Gallina. They also have great dessert options.

Really good food. I highly recommend. Portions are large. 2 dishes is more than enough for 2 people. We ordered 3 and didn’t even finish the first 2.
