Looking to taste some delicious savory Turkish snacks in Bellevue? There is a little food stand outside the Macys at the Bellevue mall for just that. Turkish food is rare to find, so this place, so unassuming, was a gem to explore.
Everything is made fresh, so there is a long wait from the time you order to when you get your food, but you can see it being made and cooked for you, so it is fun to watch. You can also order online and pick it up if you are in a rush. It is also all Halal and a women-owned business!
With options galore, I stood there for a while just reading the menu, but at the end I recommend the Super Mix Gozleme because it has a combination of the other gozlemes, including, beef, potato, and spinach in the flatbread.
Make sure to grab some napkins before you sit down. It comes out piping hot in a pizza box, and you can roll it up or bend it like a pizza to eat it. It's also accompanied with a nice, refreshing white yogurt sauce, which is amazing for dipping. Each one is giant, so it can be shared by 2 people or you will likely have to bring the leftovers home.
When it's cold or wet outside, you're out of luck because there is nowhere to stay warm and you have to sit on a cold bench outdoors with no heater, so that is the major downside.
I would add Istanbul Cuisine to the list of places to visit as a quick stop to taste a piece of Turkey while running around the Bellevue area and mall!
