I am SO ELATED!!!!!! Before I moved to the valley, I lived in the SCV down the street from Italia Deli there, and I was so sad to move because I used to eat there frequently.
Yesterday I was in the Trader Joe's parking lot and said to myself, let me go check out this Italia Bakery across the lot and see what's inside. Guess what!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's the SAME PLACE!!! I've never been so happy I found this place!!!!!!!! Oh Turkey and provolone on a soft roll how I've missed you!!!!! In this city where you can find a fast food restaurant on every corner, these fresh delis are all gems!!! If you haven't checked then out, I recommend you do!
Now, this location is a bit more compact than the one in SCV, and the line forms directly in front of the entrance which can feel awkward when it's busy, something I imagine is quite common here. You have to grab a ticket number and you will get called up according to your number to order.
I LOVE the turkey and provolone on a soft roll, it's just perfection in my eyes! This location also boasts a variety of other intriguing items. I picked up what appeared to be a pizza-like bread and another resembling focaccia. My only minor concern was the absence of labels for these which left me unsure of the names of my selections, I just pointed and said "one of those and one of those." I also bought a garlic bread from the refrigerator section that I plan to make when I prepare with a pasta dish later this week.
Additionally, this delightful bakery/deli offers an array of other high-quality items to shop for such as olive oils, or premade pizza or pasta dishes that they make and put in the freezer, and they have so many other things such as Italian cookies! I'm so happy.
I noticed some other reviews mentioned the slower pace in sandwich preparation. In a city accustomed to fast food, I can understand this sentiment. With only two staff members behind the counter, and occasionally multiple sandwich orders, the wait can be a bit longer. However, knowing the exceptional quality of their sandwiches, I personally believe the wait is more than worth it.
Also when I went inside I had some anxiety because I only had my phone with me so I wanted to tap and pay, the equipment I thought appeared older, but thankfully it's good to know their tap and pay works with the phone! I can't wait to come back to Italia Bakery/Deli again and again and again!
