Best Seafood in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"This daytime small Hawaiian “island-style” shop, which has been in its Ocean Beach location for several years, is run by a cousin and two brothers whose family has a longtime poke shop on Oahu. The poke varieties include shoyu ahi and kimchi shrimp, and rotating specials like ahi limu, which is chopped ahi tuna mixed with seaweed. In addition to the poke, the restaurant also serves traditional Hawaiian kalua pig and chicken long rice soup at lunchtime. Order at the counter at this tiny joint with no seating and take it a block away for beachside dining." - Helen I. Hwang

If you want poke real hawaiian style this is the place to go. I order the poke plate with 2 scoops of rice. They give you furikaki that you can sprinkle on your rice if wish. You can sub a scoop of the rice for edamame or Mac salad. The mac salad is different. Thin noodles but still tasty. I tried the lau lau as well and it was very fresh. You can't eat here but you can take it to the beach and really feel like you're in Hawaii. The line moves fast and the staff are happy to answer any questions if you're not sure what to order.

Google
Love coming to this local shop in Ocean Beach. My favorite is their Furikake Salmon along with some rice. Hits the spot every time! There's no tables inside but my group always goes to Ocean Beach to take in the views and eat. A must try for the area.

Google
Wow...the hype is REAL!!!! Had the Furikake Salmon, Spicy Ahi and Kimchi Tako......all of them were super fresh and full of flavor!! The rice and mac salad were perfect sides as well. If you're in San Diego, you need to try this place out!!! Enjoy!!

Google
Got here first thing when they opened and Freshest poke I ever tasted! I ordered the poke plate: furikake salmon and spicy ahi with scoop of rice and mac salad for $18! Well portioned and definitely worth the price and I can’t wait to try their other types of poke. Friendly and fast service. They even packed a little containers filled with furikake and a piece of coconut jelly. Takeout only, but the beach is just right down the street to enjoy your meal. Will be coming back :)

Google
Anytime I’m in San Diego, this place is a must-stop! The poke is incredibly fresh, with authentic Hawaiian marinades that hit every time. Get the plate and furikake salmon and a drink for the side. It’s just a short walk to the beach, which makes it the perfect way to spend a chill afternoon. Be prepared to wait in line and have your order ready!

Google
It’s Raw Poke Shop is a must-try! The spicy mayo tuna & salmon were packed with flavor (generous on the mayo, so heads up!), and the macaroni salad was next-level (4.8/5). Would’ve loved the option to mix my own sauces & swap white rice for brown. Cozy spot with friendly staff—just be ready for a line if you go on the weekend. Pro tip: hit it up for lunch!

Google
Service was just ok but the food is really good. I’m not a fan of raw fish but the marinade of the poke was so good that I actually wanted my own plate! For the price, the portions of the poke should be a little bigger.

Google
Its Raw Poke serves up some of the best poke we’ve ever had—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. We tried the traditional salmon and spicy tuna, both of which were incredible, but the real standouts were the furikake tuna and furikake salmon, which had amazing texture and seasoning. Every bite was packed with freshness and bold flavors. We also sampled all their sides, and while the rice was excellent, the macaroni salad and edamame were truly next level.

Yelp
Stopped by with family on the way home, and this little hidden gem is a hit! If you're craving something fresh, this is for you. The ahi and salmon were both fresh and flavorful. This spot was small, so the line was out of the shop but no complaints. I'd come again if I'm in the area! :)

Yelp
The best poke in San Diego, hands down! Yes, the venue is a bit cramped, and the line stretches out the door, but trust me--it's all worth it. The quality of the food here makes up for any minor inconveniences. The fish is incredibly fresh, and the toppings are always top-notch. You can really taste the care they put into every bowl. The portions are generous, and the flavors are out of this world. It's clear that this place has earned its reputation, and despite the space and wait, the food always delivers. If you're looking for the best poke in town and don't mind waiting a bit, this is the spot to hit up. Worth it!!!

Yelp
Stopped in when I saw all the great reviews. The lady at register was great and explained the options and I went with the spicy ahi and the regular ahi. I am glad I tried it but wouldn't exactly rush back next time I'm in town. Tuna is fresh but Idk it just didn't do it for me personally, like it was missing something. Absolutely nothing wrong with it but I was expecting it to be mouth watering. The rice and the overall dish could have used some sesame seeds on top like I saw in some other pictures, but mine didn't have it. Edamame was nicely seasoned on the outside. Tip: Take it and walk down to the ocean and eat it over there.

Yelp
Told a friend I was going to bike around SD and she told me of a spot she biked to last year, just a little "hole in the wall" poke joint Wow, it did not disappoint! There was a line out the door, so we ordered over the phone and took a stroll while we waited. I want to say its the best poke I've had in CA but I need to refresh my memory at Tropicali. Both the tuna and salmon were incredibly fresh, but the tuna was on another level--melt-in-your-mouth perfection. As the other reviewers have said it, the quality of the fish is no joke here, worth the cost imo. I went with the shoyu ahi and furikake salmon, and the seasoning was on point, though it leans on the sweeter side. As for the mac salad, it was a bit of a miss for me--odd texture and served at this in-between temperature, not quite warm or cold. Definitely a unique take, but I wouldn't get it again. All in all, a fantastic poke spot worth the wait!
google avatar

Nastaran M.

Yelp
I don't think I can have any other poke in SD! It's raw for life. No joke, best poke in sd, maybe even better than hawaii. They make it fresh daily, so much flavor and dirt cheap. We got lucky and somehow managed to skip the lines but I would for sure wait, even if it's 1 hour. Just Soooooo Goood!
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
Worth the hype imo! The fish here is so fresh and buttery soft. One of the best I've tried in California thus far. The highlight for me was the Hawaiian Chili Pepper ahi! It was super flavorful and actually had a good kick, unlike a lot of marinades that claim to be spicy. The best marinade Ive had so far from a poke shop. The Spicy Salmon was really tasty as well. So soft and delicious, but I wish it was actually spicy. Tasted more like a Mayo Salmon. Loved the Garlic Edamame and the little coconut jelly they give you for dessert. The wait wasn't too bad when we went around 11:40 AM, but as we got our orders the line grew drastically. This is a takeout spot! The inside of the shop is super tiny and cramped. They are decently quick with orders despite the long line. Overall would highly recommend if you're craving some delicious, high quality poke in the area!

Yelp
"I hope that long line isn't for poke.." Spoiler: It was, in fact, for It's Raw Poke in Ocean Beach. Even though my inevitable hanger was starting to kick in, I persevered for a bite of the islands on the mainland. The wait was about 25-30 min but I didn't mind since my friends and I just caught up while waiting. No indoor seating so we just tore this up in the car. Shoyu ahi: 5/5 delicious and light and memorable. onions gave a nice crunch. furikake salmon: 4/5 enjoyed where they were going but sauce was sweeter than I'd like. just eat rice to cut through that sweetness and you're goood surprise sample: kalua pig was incredibly juicy, shredded to perfection, and the right amount of savory. glad my friend ordered otherwise I would've never tried this gem bonus points for the lil' coconut jelly they add to each order. makes it more personal to be quite honest! mahalo for authentic and delicious poke

Yelp
This place is so RAW and serves fantastic authentic poke from the mainland! I have tried a few spots when visiting San Diego, and this one is my favorite. In my opinion, they might be better than Hawaiian Fresh, another San Diego poke spot. We arrived late in the afternoon, and there was street parking, but I could see this street getting busier later in the day. There was also a decent line out the door, but it went by quickly. They have a small storefront with drinks and snacks to pair with your poke. Near the cashier, they have all the poke-in trays. Their Spicy Ahi and Furikake Salmon were amazing. The Spicy Ahi was creamy and had just the right amount of spice. The Furikake was similar to a teriyaki sauce. I just got rice for the sides, but I tried out their mac salad, which had stringy noodles, and I loved it. Next time, I'm getting one side of rice and mac salad with my poke plate. I wish they had given a more significant portion of food and more furikake. I would rather have them put it all over the rice, similar to other places, but I understand people enjoy different portions.

Yelp
I've never been to Hawaii but I've been told this poke shop offers the closest emulation to something you'd get in the Aloha State. Today was my second visit to It's Raw in the two years I've lived in SD, and honestly that's a disservice to myself because this poke is f r e s h and way better than those customizable poke places. Both visits were on the weekend towards the end of their hours, so the line was long both times and they were almost out of their poke. Like 30+ minutes wait time, for 4-6 different poke options. However, the wait is worth it. On my first visit I ordered the plate with spicy ahi and furikake salmon, and on my visit today I got the plate with kimchi ahi and spicy salmon. Both times I swapped a scoop of rice for their mac salad. Today my boyfriend and I also split a spicy ahi hand roll, which actually comes as a 2pc. The plates are a bit pricey, now standing at $17 for two scoops of fish and rice/macaroni salad/edamame, but that is the value of the food when the quality is this high. I've really enjoyed the spicy fish mixes, which today I noticed have masago mixed in (and I love masago)! Really yummy flavor for people who like spicy Mayo sauce. I also enjoyed the furikake salmon that I had on my first visit, and I'm sure that the furikake ahi is great too (especially because it was almost gone both times). I will say I am not a fan of the kimchi ahi, and not because I don't like kimchi...because I do. Maybe I felt that there wasn't enough kimchi, or maybe because the kimchi wasn't the more traditional kimchi I'm used to, or maybe it was because the fish was already pretty warm by the time we sat down to eat it on the beach and the flavor doesn't taste as good when warm? Not sure, but I probably won't order that again. I do 100% recommend the spicy ahi hand roll, especially if you have a bit of a walk before you eat your meal, because it's a perfect on-the-go snack!! It's packed with flavor and a generous portion for $6. It held me over, and that's key for a good time because I get hangry. Don't forget to ask for utensils if you didn't bring your own!

Yelp
My uncle works in Point Loma and would always bring poke from It's Raw home for us. I finally got to try it fresh from the shop itself. I had the ginger scallion tuna poke, which I really liked since I'm a ginger lover, it's the same as the Chinese ginger scallion sauce. I also tried the shoyu tuna, which was simple but the fish was fresh. The scoop of rice was generous, and I enjoyed the mac salad, which came with long string noodles, something different! It could've used a bit more salt, but I still liked it. Now, does the poke blow my mind like Hawaii's? No, but it's good for OB. Plus, you can walk to the beach and eat there to get those same island vibes, lol. Cons, they don't have wasabi. All in all, would I eat here again? Yes!
google avatar

Christine Z.

Yelp
we got the spicy salmon, furikake ahi, and shoyu ahi!! they were all so flavorful and tasted like hawaii :') i especially liked the spicy salmon -- would definitely get again. the portions were also pretty big! Next time, Id probably only get one plate for two people. The store is small and is just made for taking it to go. There's a bit of a line, but it moves fast! I'd say it's definitely worth the try, and I'll for sure be back soon.

Yelp
I have been DYING to try this place every time I drive down to San Diego. But fate has it out for me since it was closed the first 2x I had tried to go get it :( luckily fate was on my side this time around! **ORDERED Poke Plate - Furikake Salmon + Spicy Ahi Taste: 10/10 Freshness: 10/10 My goodness this plate was amazing! The Furikake salmon (esp) surprised me since I had never had a flavor of salmon poke taste like that! **PEOPLE the cashier and the server were fast, efficient, and extremely helpful when I wasn't sure what I wanted. I did not regret my decision in going with what they had recommended! **VIBE it was literally like a lil chillin' shack with no seating or AC but luckily, the place is a 5min walk from the beach :D **OVERALL Would I go back? I think the right question is: when will I go back? I'm def coming again to see what else this place has to offer!

Yelp
One of the best poke I've ever tried and I completely understand the hype! We visited on a Sunday for lunch and arrived at around 2pm and there was a long line out the door. No seating inside and need to street park. We waited for about 30mins until we made it to the front and decided to get three bowls. The fish was so fresh and flavorful, I loved every single bite! The mac salad was creamy and not too overpowering, which I liked. They use thin noodles for their mac salad, which I thought was interesting. Overall - we had an amazing experience here and would definitely visit again. Don't hesitate to visit this place - their poke is amazing!!
google avatar

Yelp
It was ok... I saw great potential. Got the Pork and Poke plate and that is heavy on kalua pork ( very succulent, very tender, very flavorful) comes with 2 huge scoops of rice and 2 poke choices. A prefect pick for first timers like me. Poke flavors were good... but I'm looking for the Hawaii experience and this poke didn't stand up to the weather. It wasn't cold it was borderline lukewarm. However I am sure I we'll go again to try it earlier in the day when it's super fresh and before they run out of mac salad. Long line when I got there. Longer line when I left. Nice People working there but likely overwhelmed since it was just 2 of them. I'll be back to try again.
google avatar

Yelp
Somewhat hidden shop by the beach with fresh poke!! I drive 2 hours from OC to get poke here sometimes, and valid since it's so good! I do wish the portions were a bit bigger- but other than that- it's definitely worth a try. I ordered the spicy salmon, crawfish, and wasabi ahi. You'd teleport to Hawaii eating this- or so i think, my friends that have been there says it compares, but I also think its delicious! Try to get there early or a lot later than lunch time, because the line does get long! I get lucky waiting 25mins
google avatar

Kayley C.

Yelp
Cute little no frills poke shop. Go during the week and you won't encounter long lines. Service was alright, but it's take out anyways. Their poke is made with better quality fish - don't expect fresh poke like Hawaii, but this is pretty good. FYI they weigh the amount of poke they give you. Their non traditional mac salad was good and they include a little bit of haupia on the side which is a nice touch.
google avatar

Bianca C.

Yelp
Nice delicious poke on a hot summer day! This place is a small order to-go type of place, and there was a pretty long line when I went. So keep that in mind and get there a bit ahead of when you're gonna be hungry. I got the poke plate with spicy salmon, furikake salmon, rice, and mac salad. Both the salmons were delicious and flavorful, but I would choose the spicy salmon over the furikake. The rice was cooked perfectly and I LOVED the mac salad!! It's very different from other mac salads I've had because they use long noodles instead of macaroni, but it was delicious. I tend to like mac salads that are less mayo-tasting and this was perfect. Overall, I thought the poke was really good but nothing absolutely spectacular. My friends said the tuna was REALLY good, so maybe try the tuna if you come!
google avatar

Evelyn E.

Yelp
This spot is a hidden gem that you want to keep a secret! It's very much a hole in the way. Order and go! There may be a line, but it moves fast. Friendly quick service! Simple Menu. So fresh. So flavorful. So delicious. Not overly seasoned. No crazy toppings. Definitely will be back to support local business that gives you authentic Hawaiian quality poke!

Daphne L.

Yelp
The reviews are right! This place lives up. I arrived a couple minutes after opening on a Tuesday and there was already a line of maybe ten parties in front of me. No frills kind of place. They take your order, you pay, they hand you your order. I got a poke plate with spicy salmon (not actually spicy at all) and shoyu ahi. I loved the salmon and wish I got two scoops of it instead. The ahi was fresh but kind of plain. They provided a little cup of furikake seasoning for my rice and a piece of coconut pudding! 5/5 highly recommend.

Yelp
Was staying in San Diego and wanted to stop by the Dog Beach. This place was a short 10 minute walk from the dog beach, so we decided to give it a try. The place is small & cozy. Went 30 minutes before closing on a Sunday and there was a bit of a line-- it moved surprisingly fast though. Quick, delicious eats. My favorite was the Furikake Salmon & their mac salad. I ordered a poke plate with one scoop of rice, one scoop of mac salad, and spicy tuna/furikake salmon. Also got a side of their kimchi tuna. Will be back to try their Hawaiian plates next time!
google avatar

Julia T.

Yelp
My fav poke in San Diego EVER. The salmon poke is so yummy. They have canned Hawaiian drinks at the front and some ethnic baked goods like butter mochi which was pretty tasty too.
google avatar

Anna S.

Yelp
An excellent, take out only poke shop. There was a line that went outside - but things moved pretty quickly and it was worth the wait. I ordered the #3 plate lunch - Kalua Pig and Poke. It also comes with two portions of rice - that you can sub for mac salad. The poke was incredibly: both tasted incredibly fresh and the seasoning was perfect. The Kalua pork was also good - if you like kalua style pork, you'll like it. The mac salad was made with chopped up angel hair, which made the texture feel a bit gritty... it's very different from your usually mac salad. If you don't like normal macaroni, it's a great change - but I did think it was an unnecessary change because the texture was a bit grainy/gritty and didn't have bite that I would expect with normal macaroni. But all in all, for the price and quality of food I paid, I really can't complain. It was an enormous portion of food - two people could definitely split this special.
google avatar

Yelp
Located in Ocean Beach, this quaint shop serves up some flavorful poke bowls in the area. During my visit, I tried the furikake salmon and spicy tuna, and here's a breakdown of my experience: Ambiance The shop has a laid-back, beachy vibe that perfectly suits its Ocean Beach location. It's a small, casual spot. Furikake Salmon The furikake salmon bowl was a delightful mix of flavors and textures. The bowl also included rice, and macaroni salad. Spicy Tuna The tuna had just the right amount of spice to give it a kick without overwhelming the natural flavor of the fish. Queue Be prepared for a long queue on a Saturday afternoon. Overall Experience Despite the well-balanced flavors, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Some of the pieces, particularly the skin, couldn't be chewed, which detracted from the overall experience. I don't really understand the hype surrounding this place.
google avatar

Emily N.

Yelp
If you have some time to wait in line, I would definitely recommend getting some fresh poke here. the ambiance is a small mom and pop poke shop with delicious and fresh salmon and tuna poke options. I tried the furikake salmon and shoyu tuna with rice and their Mac and cheese (which was using longer thin noodles instead of the regular Mac which I thought was an interesting twist). The fish was comparable to the poke I had in Hawaii
google avatar

Quoc H.

Yelp
Saturday lunch had about an hour wait. The shop is super small, literally it's an alley for the cashier station and shelf of snacks. No seating so get to go and eat in the beach. Parking will be tough as it is really close to the waterfront. Service is pretty fast (order packed in a couple minutes) despite the long wait time. 8/10 Kalua Pig and Poke Combo $22 - Kalua pork was tender, really good portion, super juicy, and flavored nicely with their sauce. Poke was fresh, average portion scoops (2), well mixed with their shoyu and spicy sauces. Mac was pretty bad, bland, would just sub for more rice next time. Overall solid poke but not worth the hour wait.
google avatar

Mary K.

Yelp
So yummy every time. I haven't tried anything other than the poke, spam musubi, and mac salad, but all of it has been delectable. Though a small space, it's never too crowded because service is quick and customers are in and out in a matter of a short few minutes. The short time spent in line is just enough for one to scope the menu, view the available drinks in the fridge and choose from the assortment of candies, ice cream, and other snacks available for purchase. It's great having utensils, napkins, sriracha, soy sauce, and furikake in the bag. No matter where I choose to take my plate, it is a memorable dining experience!
google avatar

Kay D.

Yelp
It's a decently long wait especially on the weekend. Take out only and it's a tiny shop. The fish though is fresh and delicious. They don't offer ice cups for their drink options but overall the portion size is pretty small for the price - though it is fish and it was good. Grab a plate and sit by the beach.
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
Delicious! Get the spicy inari... so worth it! Perfect balance of savory, spicy, and slightly sweet. The tuna poke is super fresh. The ginger ahi specifically tasted refreshing. Highly recommend! P.S. be warned - the mac salad has a different texture than u may be used to
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
I'm so glad I came across this place while visiting SD! It's the perfect refreshing bite next to the beach and the portions are really generous. There is also an option to opt in for a macaroni salad and choose multiple poke flavors. The line was a little bit out the door but it went by fairly fast. There's no indoor seating and it's a great place for pickup. There's also desserts in the freezer section and Hawaiian drinks which is a great option to have. I highly recommend checking out this small, cute poke shop that has the best poke in town!
google avatar

Yelp
LOCATION: Newport/Bacon PARKING: Street parking only WHAT WE ORDERED: * 2 poke plates w/ 2 different types of fish in each (Spicy Ahi, Furikake Salmon, Spicy Salmon, Furikake Ahi) - ($17.68 each) ** Favorite = Furikake Ahi * Subbed out 1 rice scoop for mac salad The fish is so fresh and tasty! They are all marinated to perfection but could be overly saucy sometimes, but I am not complaining. I recommend getting both creamy and saucy poke if ordering a plate. There's a good amount of fish and I would get tired of eating just one. Plus, it was tough to choose which one to order anyway because they all looked really gooooood. You really can't go wrong with any option. The portions are generous, and I can justify the price. My favorite side to eat with poke is mac salad. However, the mac salad here is not the best, and they don't use the typical macaroni shells. It's a small shop and you will probably have to wait no matter what time you go. Service is quick, and the line moves fast. I love how the location is within walking distance of the beach. You get to enjoy your delicious food with an incredible view. :)
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Still really high quality but this last time I went and got the furikake salmon, it tasted too sweet. Also for prices going up it seems like the quantity of fish they give you is smaller when you get a bowl or plate. Also, always check their IG before you go! They close randomly for vacation every now and then. We tried to go a couple times before only to be disappointed.
google avatar

Sean S.

Yelp
Definitely the best Poke spot in all of San Diego with decent prices and a vibe that pays homage to the Hawaiian roots and culture behind the cuisine. We went early for lunch on a Saturday right when they opened and when we got there there was already a line out the door so that was a good sign. The line wasn't too bad and soon found ourselves in front of the counter. They have a good selection of fish options to choose from and you're also able to sub a scoop of rice for their Mac salad for a plate order. The Furikake Ahi and the Spicy Salmon were both very good and each fish tasted fresh and clean. Their take on Mac salad is a bit different from how most places make it but I still enjoyed it and their rice was also good. The counter service was friendly and they have a good selection of Hawaiian Sun sodas which is a nice touch. Overall it's definitely the best Poke I've had outside of Hawaii and I look forward to coming back again real soon.
google avatar

Hector L.

Yelp
Make it a point to visit this place every time we visit San Diego. They have some of the best poke we've tried anywhere. The portions are pretty good, and I love that the Mac salad is made using thin spaghetti noodles instead of macaroni.
google avatar

Yelp
Real authentic Hawaiian poke and views of the ocean can be experienced here at It's Raw Poke Shop in Ocean Beach, San Diego. I got the poke plate which comes with two choices of poke and your choice of two sides (rice, edamame, or Mac salad). I got the Furikake and Spicy Salmon. I enjoyed both as they were packed with flavor and very fresh. To be honest, I wasn't a fan of the Mac Salad. The type of macaroni noodle they used were like thin noodles and it had too much of a salty taste. I think next time I'll double up on rice. My plate and a canned Hawaiian sun drink costed me just under $20. The line was out the door when I came on a Friday afternoon but it moved quickly. It is a small shop located right off the side of Newport Ave (the main and busiest street of OB). There are no seats just a small counter where you order and they pack your order to-go. The nice thing is the beach is literally down the street so you can enjoy your poke while admiring the amazing views of the pacific ocean.

Yelp
I think I had a bad one off experience, because I got a bad scoop of hard undercooked rice with my plate. The actual poke itself was delicious and in a true hawaiian style, but a smaller portion than I expected for the $18 price point. The line was also insane; we waited around 40 minutes on a weekend for lunch, shortly after opening.

Yelp
This humble poke shop is offering amazing Poke and some of the best I've had. Inside, you'll find a variety of prepared poke that, once they sell out, they're gone. It gets busy, and there were a lot of people wanting to order/waiting for their orders but it moved very quickly - we were in and out within 5 minutes. FURIKAKE SALMON - This was really nice, with the soy sauce and furikake adding an umph to the already delicious salmon. It was quite tender, and really great. AHI TUNA - My favorite, it was so fresh, buttery, and just melted in my mouth. Fresh tuna flavor. The addition of furikake on the side with little coconut jellies for afterwards, and soy sauce and sriracha on the side was great. The mac salad with noodles was really good and creamy but not heavy. The rice was cooked really well. Overall, I wanted to have this for dinner. UBE CRINKLE COOKIE - you can tell there's real ube involved in the process for these, as it's very very moist and has this starchy density to it. Little bits of what feels like dried coconut decorate it slightly for texture. Really shocked by this.

Yelp
a small but mighty poke shop! where do I even start - their poke is amazing! the line can get incredibly long but the wait is worth it. the fish quality is extremely fresh and their flavors really enhance the fish rather than outshine. tried: furikake salmon, spicy salmon, spicy ahi, wasabi ahi, & hawaiian pepper ahi. would highly recommend trying their hawaiian pepper ahi and spicy salmon! their mac salad is unique as well. would suggest to do half & half rice/mac. they also offer spicy cucumbers and it's really refreshing to have alongside the poke. gives a nice crunch & different flavor profile. would return :)

Yelp
Completely reminiscent of Hawaii poke! Who needs to fly 6 hours to Hawaii for some poke when It's Raw Poke Shop is in San Diego?! They always have a line out the door (because they are amazing!) but line is worth the wait as they go relatively quickly. Fish is always fresh and they also have other Hawaiian goodie like spam musubi and the Haiwaiian fresh drinks. Their mac salad is to die for, and unique in that they use spaghetti instead of macaroni. My go to order is the pig and poke plate (kalua and poke in one!!!!) I always recommend this place to anyone looking for Hawaiian style poke vs the usual CA toppings style poke. Shop is small and parking is a bit difficult so if you can bring a friend, one can wait in line and one can find parking. They also run out end of day, so go early so you don't miss out!!!!

Yelp
Super solid poke Ahi was very fresh and gummy. Honestly, the flavors/selection were a little lackluster but it stays true to the classics. The wasabi ahi was actually wonderful, not too strong flavors, I think they use an oil instead of the paste. The kimchi ahi was a little disappointing for my personal taste. The macaroni salad is a big letdown imo. Too mayoey and they tried something with this noodle form that doesn't really taste/sit right with me. Respect the attempt on innovation though.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday around 1pm and waited probably about an hour to get our food. If you have the time to wait, you'll find that this place is popular for a reason! It's probably a toss-up between this place and Hawaiian Fresh Seafood for the best poke in town. Authentically marinated Hawaiian style poke much better in my opinion than the counter serve poke chains. Came here with a Hawaiian friend who grew up in Hawaii and was super happy with the quality of the Hawaiian food here, from the poke to the spam musubi and the macaroni salad (which was made using a thinner, stringier kind of macaroni but was soo tasty). Food was so delicious we had devoured it all before I remembered to take photos. For those with nut allergies - we were told at the time we went that none of the poke had nuts but one of the sauces offered on the side does, so I'd recommend asking to be safe. For planning purposes note that parking in OB is all street parking and can be tough during peak hours on weekends and evenings. Line is outdoors and sun exposed so wear sunscreen and/or bring sun protection if it's a toasty day! Also this is a really small hole in the wall joint and so there's no seating/bathrooms. We took our food and had a really relaxing meal on the beach!

Yelp
ORDER poke plate (4.5/5) -- shoyu ahi, spicy salmon, half rice half mac salad one of the best poke spots! the texture was nice and buttery, the fish was definitely fresh. the shoyu ahi was my fav. i didn't like the mac salad as much, it was too peppery. your order also comes w/ coconut jelly :P SERVICE (5/5) super quick service. the poke was ready almost instantly. AMBIANCE super small store. no seats available.

Yelp
BEST poke place in San Diego!! You order at the front and takeout. Would be great to order to take on a beach picnic day! My friend had tried the spicy tuna / shoyu ahi plate and confirmed it tastes just as amazing as the poke he has had in HAWAII!! Spicy Crawfish is also a confirmed banger The place is a small family owned shop, would recommend giving it a try to support them!

Yelp
Just tried the ahi w/ginger sauce, and it was phenomenal. Light and refreshing with the perfect ginger flavor.

Yelp
Super quick service and high quality fish served in their Hawaiian-style poke! There's also so many flavors to choose from and every one I've tried so far was good. I got the kimchi ahi poke with the mac salad and loved every bite. This was my first time having a mac salad made with angel hair(?) pasta instead of elbows and aside from the yummy flavor, the thin crushed noodles really helps coat your mouth in the creaminess and compliments the fish really well. Parking is a little difficult because it's a beach and there's lots of other good restaurants nearby but since it's kind of a to-go shop it's worth it to just then go enjoy your poke on the beach with a view

Yelp
Amazing poke, furikake salmon was a banger. Kimchi ahi had a veryyyy mild taste (not bad, just not what i expected). Mac salad paired perfectly with the furikake salmon. Really small place (literally only enough room to order then leave) but line moved relatively quickly. $17 for a poke plate. Also I tried the spicy salmon, it wasn't very spicy (and I'm usually really weak with spiciness).

Yelp
Everytime I'm in OB I always remember to stop by. This is the only restaurant where I will wait in line for 45 minutes. It's that good. Authentic, fresh poke. There's also edamame, spam musubi, and mac salad, all of which I enjoyed. This is a take out only restaurant but the beach is right there, which serves as pretty good ambiance.

Yelp
Delicious and fresh poke! The service is also really fast. Usually by the time you're done ordering the food is already done being packaged. I got the spicy salmon bowl and the first time it was a little less tender, but the second time is was perfect. This is the perfect lunch to eat on the beach.

Yelp
One of my favorite places for Hawaiian-style poke in San Diego, if not my favorite. I love how many different options there are here for poke, including a wide range of fishes and flavors. This time that I went, I ordered a plate with Spicy Salmon and Wasabi Ahi, both of which were delicious. The fish was extremely fresh, and was the perfect texture for poke (not slimy :')). Along with the fish, you can choose between rice and Mac salad, and I opted for 1 scoop of each, just to see which pairs better :) I've never had Mac salad that was prepared like how It's Raw had prepared it, but it was super fun to eat, and the furikake paired amazingly with the rice. The shop itself is pretty small, and there isn't any seating inside or outside, but since it's situated right along the water, I decided to take my poke to the beach to eat, which was an amazing vibe. Parking is a bit of a pain, as there isn't a reserved lot or anything of the sort, and you would have to either find street parking or park in a paid lot nearby.
