Tallulah’s Review - Capitol Hill - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Tallulah’s is what happens when a West Elm projectile vomits haphazardly inside a café, and it’s actually rad. Come for brunch, and after a couple rounds of blackberry mules (like Moscow Mules, but better) and avocado toast, Sunday suddenly won’t seem so bad. Plus, Tallulah’s menu is made up of mostly vegetables, so your vegan friends get more options than a side of breakfast potatoes seasoned with their own tears. They also do a great happy hour, and dinner on the spacious patio is never a bad idea - but brunch is what Tallulah’s does best." - Aimee Rizzo

The 19 Best Restaurants In Providence 2024

"Tallulah’s has long been one of the best places in town to grab a burrito. The glossy tortillas are packed tight with beans, rice, and tender meat (or papas, if you want to go meatless). The same goes for the tacos or tortas, both of which are stuffed, completely messy, and really good. While you could take your order to go for a picnic at nearby India Point Park, they do have limited outdoor seating during warmer months where you can drink some house margaritas or agua frescas on the patio. They also recently opened a location on Sims Ave., so you can eat inside their new-ish space or wander around the Farm Fresh building and check out the farmers market. " - grace kelly

The 33 Best Restaurants in Providence, Rhode Island - Eater

"When he first arrived in the Ocean State, chef Jake Rojas ran a highly regarded farm-to-table restaurant in Newport with his wife, Kelly Ann. More recently, the Texas native has been using his cooking skills at his always-busy taquerias. Rojas’s quick-service mix-and-match menu invites you to choose from an assortment of fillings (chipotle-braised potatoes, al pastor, carne asada, lengua), toppings, and formats (tacos, burritos, tortas, bowls). No matter what you pick, it comes out of the kitchen fast and flavorful. Pair anything with a house mezcal margarita, and in warmer months eat on the restaurant’s string light-lined outdoor patio." - Jenna Pelletier

New Wazzu Coach Nick Rolovich Buys Fans Drinks at Magnolia Village Pub | Eater Seattle

"Closed since December with no explanation, Tallulah’s on Capitol Hill has been in limbo: a tipster sent a photo of a “Coming Soon: Taco Bell Cantina” sign but when I visited there was no such sign and instead a note from the owners saying the cafe is closed “for the foreseeable future” as they reassess their situation; original owner Linda Derschang recently returned to collect items, including the restaurant’s signature cat painting, and the spot is described as a casual neighborhood café and bar with a vegetable-driven menu." - Gabe Guarente

Google
PVD Summer outdoors with Tallulah's Taqueria was superb! Fresh ingredients, flavorful dishes and spacious outdoor seating, could not get any better. My tacos were really good. Def will return.

Google
Good taco. Had the barbacoa, carnitas, and pollo. Easy, light snack after a day wandering Newport. Friendly service. Atmosphere pretty average, but you're not getting white table cloth at a taqueria. Good outdoor space though.

Google
I've been enjoying these world class burritos since this joint was just a pop-up stand at farmers markets at URI years ago. This stuff is game changing good and is now what i compare all others to, especially the veggie burritos with ALL the cilantro, radishes, and guacamole. 🥰 Though, sometimes they run outta some of those key ingredients. 😭 Also, damn if they're margaritas aren't some of the best around. Gotta love that they seem to pay and treat their staff well, too!

Google
service 4/5 ambiance 3.5/5 tacos 3/5 i appreciate the variety of places on Ives St. including this spot though i wouldn't go out of my way to seek it if i wanted tacos. the outdoor seating is nice when it's warm, haven't been by when it's cold but hopefully they put up tents and a heater to retain business. the tacos were okay. i have noticed a few trendy taco spots that don't season the meat enough and rely on the salsa afterwards to be the flavor. this was my experience here too with carne asada and barbacoa tacos. i like tacos the way i grew up eating them in baja, seasoned so well that no salsa is needed just a squirt of lime. price per taco was also a bit steep considering it's a hybrid takeout spot with no real seating or service. nonetheless service was kind.

Google
Tallulah’s Taqueria never disappoints. I go out of my way any time I’m visiting RI to stop in for a burrito or tacos. Their burritos are fantastic, with just the right amount of every ingredient evenly distributed. I’m not a huge fan of their guacamole but it is always fresh and a good texture - just not heavily seasoned. The people who work there are always friendly and helpful. The patio is a great place to sit and enjoy the food and drink. Oh, and be sure to try the agua fresca on a hot day!

Google
As someone who has been coming here since they opened, it pains me to say that they no longer offer the same quality food they once have. Their food the last three times I’ve gone has been worse than the last. All 3 times the food was room temp if not cold. It was bad enough they got rid of lengua which was my favorite but now their tacos don’t even have guacamole but the tacos cost more than they ever have. The carne asada was bland and tough as beef jerky. It’s sad because I loved this place and ate her often but after the last 3 times I can’t justify giving them my money.

Google
hands down best authentic mexican restaurant. super healthy and delicious. they have a water jug by the silverware so you don’t need to ask for a water cup. their nachos are my favorite topped with jalapeños!! there was a bit of a wait for our food but other than that i love this place. the outdoor seating is perfect. definitely recommend checking it out.

Google
Went for tacos after visiting a bakery nearby, tacos were good if not slightly overpriced at six dollars a piece. However, they were absolutely amazing. We got a chicken taco and a steak taco.

Yelp
Their carnitas burrito is my go-to order. I usually cut it in half and crisp up the leftovers later! All of their meats are good especially the carnitas, al pastor and barbacoa. The tacos may seem a little pricey but they are very generous portions (almost like two tacos worth) and satisfying! I love ordering ahead as it's ready when you arrive and you also get points! Some nice outdoor seating, friendly service and just really good food! *they don't accept tips but they take donations that I believe go to the food bank *TIP: I love extra salsa on the side for my burritos but with the increase in prices, I often just use what I have at home instead of ordering extra sides

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place. I've been craving good Mexican food, but it's been a blessing & a curse growing up with a plethora of options in CA. Numerous folks told me Tallulah's is the most authentic Mexican food around, so we gave it a go. Overall, it was decent, but unfortunately nothing special. We got the fried fish burrito and chicken burrito. The cilantro crema for the fish burrito was refreshing and added additional flavor, but there was not enough fish - we almost couldn't taste it and thought they forgot to add the fish. For the chicken, it was well-seasoned but not exceptionally juicy or flavorful. Would have liked more options for beans besides just black. The best part of the burritos were likely the tortillas, which tasted homemade. Not sure if I got the wrong items, but I left feeling a little underwhelmed.

Yelp
Average Here's what we got Only tacos Fish taco: good Chicken taco: fine Spicy pork taco : meh Pork taco: bland We also got the mango drinks which were mild in sweetness and they were refreshing but not real mango more like mango flavor Parking is on the street Ambiance We dined in which is the picnic tables on the outside. Areas clean when they bring the food. They don't bring napkins which I thought was a little bit odd. Also, they're extremely stingy about things like hot sauce which is usually standard in most taco places. The food is so bland you really do need hot sauce. I think the portion size is a little bit light given the pricing. All of the above cost me almost $40 which I think is kind of ridiculous. I won't be coming back

Yelp
Really enjoyed Tallulah's Taqueria. They have outdoor seating and the weather was beautiful. I had two fish tacos and and was given a choice of grilled or fried. I chose grilled. It was delicious. I was wondering where was the salsa but I could taste it and there was enough salsa to see it taste good. My husband was disappointed in the breakfast burrito being mostly potato and he could not taste any salsa so it didn't have much flavor.

Yelp
Yessss! Finally found a spot in New England that serves legit Mexican street tacos the way I got back in LA! Great seating inside and out, friendly service and amazing ,delicious food!

Yelp
Tallulah's is a long time favorite, could have sworn we left a review saying basically this is our favorite in the near-Boston area, and is of a similar caliber as some of our favorite spots in San Diego. Anyways, we came back today to do a very scientific side-by-side taco tasting and comparison. Tried fried fish, chorizo, al pastor, barbacoa, and carne asada. Overall results were a bit mixed, though fish was at the top, chorizo was full of flavor (although quite potato heavy), and carne asada and barbacoa tended to be rated as needing a little more flavor by one of us (though we both still thought both were delicious. Our specific rankings: His: Chorizo (amazing flavor) + Fried Fish (stellar, nothing left to add) Al Pastor (great flavor a little tougher than I wanted it to be) + Barbacoa (vice versa) Carne Asada Mine: Al Pastor (super flavorful meat plus some nice fatty pieces) + Fried Fish (stellar, nothing left to add) Chorizo (got only potato in my bites, maybe he got most of the meat) + Carne Asada (interesting if moderate flavor) Barbacoa (yummy and good texture but not as flavorful as the others, needs some salt)

Yelp
Food was ok I ordered the beef tocos, I liked the tasted of the meet they have homemade salsa very good as well. The service was fast which was great since I was on a hurry. Ambiance was regular.

Yelp
I wouldn't say Talluhlah's is authentic Mexican food, but it's delicious. We've visited a few times, one time being a pretty busy Friday night.
google avatar

Nikky L.

Yelp
Well seasoned and garnished tacos and taco bowl. The bowl is a generous portion for a great price. The taco is amazing and well filled. Indoor and very nice outdoor patio seating. Great for families couples or even a solo day. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try Tallulah's for quite some time as I've heard nothing but great things. I was trying to think of somewhere to eat after a trip to Providence Place Mall and I figured it was time to visit Tallulah's. I placed an online order and it was ready by the time I arrived. I was greeted by a very friendly staff member which can be a rarity nowadays. The food itself was fantastic. I enjoyed the taco but my favorite item was the Breakfast Chorizo and Egg Burrito. From the portion size to the taste, everything about the burrito was perfect! I'm glad I finally made it to Tallulah's and will definitely be back!

Yelp
My favorite place in Providence! Food is served quickly. It is always PHENOMENAL! The margs and churros are especially fantastic. Note that the seating is casual / outdoors only. You order at a window and wait for your food to be called. There are ample picnic tables and umbrellas. Also, they are dog friendly!

Yelp
I went with co workers to get lunch while we were visiting our Providence, RI office. One co co worker stated he knew a good quick serve Mexican spot. Tallulah's was a great stop. The storefront is very easy to miss. But, when they are busy, there would be a line. The inside is very simple and clean. And they have a lot of picnic tables outside. So there is a fair bit of seating on a nice day. I ordered a burrito with Chicken and Chorizo. Unfortunately, my order was messed up twice. Firstly it was made as a taco. Secondly, it was made as a burrito with potatoes rather than chicken. Things happen, so I wasn't upset and they did their best to fix the first issue, but the second I didn't notice until we got back to our office. Overall, the burrito was delicious and very large. It was full of flavor. The only thing I wish was that I could have tried the chicken and also that they had a spicier salsa. I tried what they said was the hottest, but it wasn't very spicy at all. I would like to go back again on my next trip to the office. I would also say it is worth trying for yourself.

Yelp
Good food, a few things to improve: chipotle potatoes were overcooked and rubbery but also soggy, hot sauce was an extra dollar, which I get, but then I had to stand in line again just to get hot sauce. Generally, the food was fine, but just missed the mark.

Rafael P.

Yelp
Been here a few times from Boston (and a couple times just drove to Providence to eat their tacos.) I'm vegetarian and their veg tacos are outstanding. The camote and papas al chipotle are both tacos I think about and now make for myself at home. Everything is fresh (including the radishes which are super crunchy and just the right amount of pickled.) Not many taquerias doing innovative veggie tacos besides the standard fillings. And the home made tortillas are very good. Haven't found a taqueria in Boston that's doing anything comparable so even though it's a drive it's worth it.

Yelp
LOVE tallulahs! great food, lots of outdoor seating & service always friendly. the tacos are my favorite i get them every time, my boyfriend loves the burritos. definitely recommend
google avatar

Yelp
Obsessed would be an understatement. I could eat tacos EVERY DAY for breakfast from Tallulah's. I have tried many different breakfast taco places and these are the best breakfast tacos I have ever had in my life. Not eating breakfast? They also have the best margaritas and pork tacos. The prices are reasonable. Parking is free on the main street and it's usualy not hard to find a spot.

Jennifer T.

Yelp
They deleted the last one. So now I'll post constantly. Currently still sitting here eating; but it's literally such a poor experience I'm writing this to make sure I don't forget. The food is mid grade quality. Nothing spectacular. It's over priced for the quality. $21 for a taco and nachos. The queso is not liquid queso but shredded queso blanco but the staff doesn't mention that nor does the menu clarify it. So aside from it being lackluster it also took 20 minutes with only 2 people orders in front of us. Biggest issue being; In the picture you can clearly see the large gap on the plate from them putting my side items ON THE PLATE and by proxy lowering the portion of the already very expensive item by 15-20% or more. When I asked the worker and showed her she literally agreed and said no you're right; then asked another guy who literally lied and said it would have came like that regardless. Then changed it to. Oh well I moved it over for the sides. Which wouldn't be possible because it wasn't moveable because the cheese made it all stuck together. Overall bad experience. Not worth the money paid. Definitely wouldn't recommend. I mean come on it's a Friday at 1pm. We were 2 of 8 ppl in the place. But yeah it's cute. Smh

Yelp
This establishment is super clean, both inside and out! The food, while simple, is tasty, flavorful and fresh. Service was quick and everyone in the family ate every bit of their food from my 7-year-old up to the adults. Solid choice for quick service meals.
google avatar

TjMartineau ..

Yelp
Usually can get great carnitas here, but struggling to get a good one lately. I usually just end up on the toilet for days after eating here.
google avatar

Alex J.

Yelp
Tallulah's consistently delivers high quality Mexican cuisine. Their burritos are their specialty in my opinion, with the carnitas being my favorite. The portion size is great for the price point and I'm never disappointed with the experience. They are probably my go to spot for burritos in Providence. They have two different locations in Providence. One is on Sims Avenue, and the other in Fox Point on Ives St. I haven't sat down at the Fox Point location, but it seems they only offer outdoor seating at that location. There's a patio with plenty of picnic tables that are perfect for a summer evening meal. The Sims Avenue location is adjacent to Revival Pizza and across the street from the liquor distillery. It has a more modern, sterile atmosphere inside. I believe they also offer drinks, but I haven't had the chance to try one yet. I may come back to this review to update once I try more things!
google avatar

Maureen D.

Yelp
Wait staff was informative and friendly, made great suggestions. One of the best margaritas I've had, fresh ingredients. Taquitos, tacos, quac...everything was SO DELICIOUS!
google avatar

Maddie O.

Yelp
I went here for lunch with a friend this week! The food was fantastic. They are very reasonable prices and a lot of choices on their menu! The service was quick and convenient. The ambiance was very nice we were able to sit outside which is perfect for a summer afternoon.
google avatar

Margaret L.

Yelp
Tallulahs has become a favorite for any time I am looking for a casual and relatively quick but filling meal! They have a lot of outdoor seating and a lot of tasty food options. I often go for the burrito but my husband has also enjoyed nachos, tacos and quesadillas. We enjoy the variety of options at reasonable prices and will certainly be returning!

Jose R.

Yelp
Most expensive tacos and they charge $1 for hot sauce and they have premixed potatoes in the chourico on top of charging $5 for one taco. Yikes
google avatar

Ashley D.

Yelp
I had the tacos - carne asada. The meat was seasoned well, just wasn't a lot of it. I ordered a side of rice and it was luke warm and came in a small cup. My daughter had the bowl, she felt like a large percentage was lettuce. I was trying to find an upscale chipotle. The service was good. The cashier was super kind, smiled, was patient. I accidentally forgot to get sour cream and she hooked me up which I appreciate because for a small thing of sour cream it was too expensive. The churro was fire. But I wish it was piping hot. Ambiance is nice because lots of people in the outdoor space. I didn't have a problem finding a table and everyone seemed friendly. Overall I paid $55 for 3 small tacos, a small cup of rice, a bowl with carne asada, margarita and a churro.
google avatar

Rae M.

Yelp
Not so much of a food snob anymore (previous review), but I still have my allergies. I used to be able to eat some of the food here, but they got pretty bad about cross contamination and I had to stop coming. The food is amazing. But, if you have allergies to anything on the menu, I would steer clear.

Martha Z.

Yelp
great food quick service super fresh. I would come back, it is always busy but it goes fast
google avatar

Marie M.

Yelp
If you're searching for fresh, high quality, delicious authentic Mexican food, look no further! Tallulah's is a CLEAN and trendy fast food taqueria with outdoor seating. It's located near India Point Park where you can enjoy your meal by the river, if you wish. The service is consistently friendly, organized, and reliable. Their tacos, tortas, and churros are excellent. However, my personal favorite is the Barbacoa Nachos--shredded braised beef & home fried corn chips loaded with black beans, cheese, salsa, guacamole, jalapeños, radishes, and cilantro. Braised beef takes a long time to cook; this is packed with flavor and the portion is huge! You can order online on their website. Food usually takes about 20 minutes to prepare. Wish they served horchata (luckily, I know how to make it).
google avatar

Cara D.

Yelp
I love Tallulah's. Tacos are authentic. Ingredients are fresh, its consistent. What more could you ask for? It's also one of the few places in this state where you can enjoy a topo chico with your meal. I will always be a loyal customer.
google avatar

Karla M.

Yelp
I hadn't been to this place in years and from what I remember, their outdoor seating has improved a lot, it seems bigger, and well decorated. They even have cornhole to keep people engaged and having fun. I'm not sure if this is just a summer thing but I do miss seeing them prepare my food in front of me. Now you order through a window and get your food in the window next to it rather than having to go inside--it makes sense to avoid crowding. I ordered carnitas nachos. All the ingredients tasted fresh and were well seasoned which I really enjoyed. One observation I made was that there weren't enough nachos for the toppings. One recommendation would be to supply a small bag of nachos on the size of the issue is the container being too small. It took about 10 minutes for the nachos to be prepared so I'm hoping it was made with love and cost about $15 which is on the higher end for this style of dining but the flavor and quality made up for it (plus it had guac).
google avatar

Caitlin T.

Yelp
The shrimp tacos are my go to, although the carnitas are always reliable in burrito or nacho form. The nachos are a great deal for students on a budget, since they last for at least two meals. Service is always prompt, an I love to sit at the patio when the weather is nice with an agua fresca.
google avatar

Bri P.

Yelp
Ok so I am on my way somewhere and needed food. I haven't been home in a min so I was like....something that isn't Taco Bell. The taco places I've been to around here have been pretty good. This I can't say is one of them. The tacos were dry. I'm saddened by this. Just the tiniest bit of guacamole and salsa but it was dry. I HATE giving a crappy review. I think this idea is cute. The line is AROUND THE CORNER so they're doing something right. Although most of the people here look like the neighborhood.... It's a ghost kitchen type thing. Order outside pick up outside. Eat outside. I haven't to say the vibe is really nice. I haven't tried their margs but I'm curious. $5 a taco generally. Not terrible. Not my fave. I've seen more expensive. I do LOVE that they're corn and not flour. This tummy can't handle flour well. I may try it again.
google avatar

Trisha D.

Yelp
Not the best tacos I've ever had, but it was good nonetheless. You order/pay up front and plenty of seating outdoors. Although I wish there was more shade. There were umbrellas but somehow the sun was still everywhere at that time of the day. Constantly busy so seems to be pretty popular. Both the carnitas and Barbacoa tacos were great. Really good ratio of fixings on top, big plus for the guacamole. I preferred the carnitas taco over the Barbacoa. My favorite part was the pickled radishes. The mango agua fresca wasn't really my thing - it was refreshing but felt like there was some kick to it. COVID precaution: masks worn, outdoor seating available and plenty of space between benches.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Great food, a providence staple. Ordering ahead to pick up can definitely help cut down on the wait times!
google avatar

Gavin D.

Yelp
Great service, I usually do big orders and ask them to label and they always do and check all modifications and are always friendly
google avatar

Jess E.

Yelp
the service was impeccable. as soon as i walked in i was greeted by a server with bangs (georgie). i was immediately like "wow, she's super nice and seems to care a lot about the work she's doing." and boy was i right ... georgie then served me the best burrito i've ever had in my entire life. she even warmed it up for me when i said it got cold. give this woman a raise for the love of g*d. please, i'm begging.

Alexander G.

Yelp
During the Covid epidemic, Tallulah's took a bit of a dip, but has since emerged with slightly revised recipes of the dishes. It is not exactly Mexican food, nor Tex-Mex or any of the more ambitious common versions of Mexican street food, but it is very good use of familiar ingredients.
google avatar

Gabriela L.

Yelp
I crave Mexican food really often so it's constantly a struggle not to stop by tallulah's. I've sampled a lot of different items from their menu and I would say my favorites are the barbacoa burrito (a classic) and the carnitas tacos. Of all the different meats I would say the barbacoa is my go to. The burritos, nachos, bowls, and tortas are all decent portions and the best value to your buck. I would say the tacos are a bit overpriced in comparison to the other items on their menu. Their margaritas are classic and tasty. If you have an account with them on their online ordering system every so often they I've you a $5 loyalty credit. I don't know how much you have to spend to get the $5 loyalty credit but it always feels like a nice treat.

D L.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place because of the reviews but it was so disappointing for the price. I got a bean burrito with all the fillings and the beans were unseasoned, too much rice, and everything tasted bland.
google avatar

Liz A.

Yelp
This was such a cute spot. We went for lunch on a Friday and had no trouble at all finding street parking which was actually free in this area. We ordered at the window and they call out your name from a different window when the food's ready. We got a black bean taco, a potato taco, and a vegetarian potato burrito. Both were fresh and delicious. The burrito was very filling. I like that they had multiple different flavor profile options for vegetarian choices. We ate our food outside at one of their picnic tables, they have lots of outdoor seating (first come first served) and it was an overall great meal!

Kyle C.

Yelp
Poor service. Overpriced. Tacos the size of a baby's palm. Played reggae music at a Mexican restaurant. Overall would not recommend, establishment needs to reevaluate their image, pricing, and portion size.

Yelp
The food is insanely delicious. Been coming here for years from Massachusetts and it's always the same amazing flavors and superb quality. The staff has always been friendly as well. I love this place. Worth the drive every time.

Yelp
I have never had a bad taco here or any of the other locations. This is definitely one of my go to spots and I love how many vegetarian options they have. The ingredients I was his fresh and delicious.

Yelp
Service was very slow. Waited 50 minutes for 4 tacos on a 11 am on a Wednesday. Tried to charge full price for child's tacos. Unapologetic...

Yelp
Some friends were in town from the southern states, and so I took them here for a nice lunch. They loved their individual burritos as they were both full flavored and the ingredients were real and authentic...NOTHING processed. I went back just to enjoy their burritos as well as I also took one more home with me. Great place for easy and GOOD Mexican styled treats.

Yelp
This place is just ok. Not sure how it has such high rating. Everything taste the same from The tacos to the bowl all sour and just mediocre. Bland Way too expensive for what it is also. Plus this is a TOGO spot with tables and chairs outside. It's basically self serve. We spent $72 on tacos ceviche a bowl and two drinks. Won't be coming back. The Shrimp Camaro (cocktail) was flavorless sour and bland. Won't be coming back. Wasted $72 on 3 tacos a bowl some chips and two drink nope nope nope

Yelp
Had a quick lunch here a few weeks back and it was delicious. The ladies at the counter were so nice. We had their black beans and potato tacos and Papa Quesadilla. The tacos were flavorful and quesadilla was good too but the taste definitely got better after we ate it with their home made salsa's. I am guessing the meat dishes might be more flavorful. So if you are getting something with potato or black beans, order a side of their spicy salsa to get the best flavors. Cannot wait to go back and try more dishes!
