Iyo

"Temporarily transferred for renovation works to piazza Alvar Aalto/via Amerigo Vespucci 12. The cuisine served at the elegant Iyo is heavily influenced by Japan while at the same time being rooted in Italian flavours and traditions. The extensive à la carte includes the type of dishes that you would expect of a Japanese restaurant (such as well-known versions of sushi, sashimi and tempura, to name just a few), alongside more creative fusion recipes which combine influences from Japan, Europe and elsewhere. There’s also an excellent selection of around 500 wines, including the option of ordering wine by the glass." - Michelin Inspector

Fabulous sushi. Thhe restaurant was super busy when we arrived and the reception staff were very polite, but seemed a little “lost”. We took a seat in waiting area, and had to flag a waiter ourselves to get a drink while waiting for table. Nothing offered by hostess. Would expect this from a starred restaurant. The restaurant staff were excellent. The food was absolutely terrific. I would highly highly recommend this restaurant to sushi fans.

Absolutely incredible! By far the nicest sushi I have ever eaten. The staff were all very friendly and provided excellent service and attention to detail. Definitely deserves it's Michelin star!

We ordered the classic menu plus a la carte a mix sashimi. Food is good but not exceptional. Especially the dumping in soup, the wrapper is too thick. In Asia, It’s the important cooking technique art of the dumping shall be thin and could hold juicy or in soup. Then the sashimi, very all you can eat level, the quality of fish meat is very basic. However, the cocktail is very tasty. I wonder if this should be a bar instead of restaurants to evolve a higher level ?

For anyone seeking a truly exceptional dining experience in Milan, IYO delivers perfection through every carefully orchestrated detail. This is Japanese-inspired cuisine elevated to its highest form—a meal that engaged all my senses and had me planning my return before the final course was complete.

Google
the egg custard was quite nice it’s cold and refreshing they kept some of the egg fully cooked which added some texture to just liquidy custard egg. Sashimi selection was also great love the variety and each had a unique flavour rather than repetitive fish. The eel was great with crispy skin but the beef under it was just okay. Cod was a fav: never had crispy cod and the leaf was aromatic made it feel less greasy. Mango palate cleanser was a surprise because there was a thin layer of mango or something outside not super sweet. Panna cotta also great loved the variety of desserts: matcha and sesame were used quite well.

We tried a variety of dishes, including mixed nigiri, scallop carpaccio with caviar, several types of uramaki, and different tartares. The experience was absolutely sublime—I tasted flavors I had never encountered before, despite being a regular at high-end sushi restaurants. This, however, is on a whole different level. The service is just as exceptional. The attention to detail and customer care are outstanding, making the entire experience feel truly special. While the price is on the higher end, every single bite justifies the cost. If you’re looking for a next-level sushi experience, this is the place to be.

We had a wonderful lunch experience at Iyo. Everything from start to finish was impeccable. Incredibly original tasting menu with refined and fresh Asian ingredients for Milan. Service was faultless and the restaurant decor beautifully modern.

Yelp
(Overall: B) - A michelin starred Japanese establishment with incredibly captivatingly inspiring innovations. Unfortunately due to some unforeseen circumstances, I fell ill in the earlier days and therefore had to try some more supposedly soothing items from their menu as opposed to their classic tasting menu which I was eager to try. These items unfortunately fell a bit flat (despite me having no appetite to send it back), but I feel like could perhaps be removed from their menu as a whole as their amuse buche really highlights their true potential. The restaurant exhibits the Milan elegance and high bar for quality of service which is a pleasant sight to see. (Amuse Buche: A+) - The best part of the meal, featuring a salted meringue with immense yuzu dashi flavors; a classic takoyaki, very crispy and fresh; and yuzu jelly, fresh and refreshing. (Forest Mocktail: B) - The aesthetic is a bit mundane, but I do like the tropical and citron notes coming through. (Ravioli in Broth: C) - This take on pork dumplings uses an unpleasanty thick dough and a very rough version of pork that is not pleasant in texture. I do like the flavors coming through with the cardamom in broth and spiciness from the dumpling though. (Yakisoba: F) - The conception of this dish is promising with a varied number of vegetables providing different textural elements, but the overall dish needs to be much more dry and cooked on a grill to not have a residual gravy. Furthermore, it is far too salty. Food: E Presentation: +1 Price: -1 Atmosphere: +1 Service: E Menu: +2 Overall: 4 stars Insta/Yelp/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

Yelp
Lovely Japanese restaurant with one Michelin Star, some of the dishes (desserts) are inventive but sushi fell a bit flat, was expecting more. Ambience is nice. We were there for lunch, perhaps dinner is different.

Yelp
I rarely give 5 stars but Iyo definetly deserve it! Everything from food, service and ambiance was perfect ! We were on vacation in Europe in October and it was the best meal during our trip ! I'm so glad we order the Omakase ! Well deserved michelin star

Yelp
Let's not kid ourselves. This place is 5 stars all the way. Beautiful dining, terrific service, but the food was the star here. Wonderfully ornate offerings with fantastic flavors. Highly recommend in between amazing Italian meals in Milan - Iyo is the absolute best of the rest!

Yelp
Heavenly. I went with my family for my birthday, and we were all ecstatic about the food, the ambience, the service, so just the overall amazing experience. Do try the quail egg gunkan, the yume roll, and the chocolate mousse for dessert. It's the only Michelin star Japanese in Milan and you'll easily understand why. Not a place where you would stuff your face (even though we paid way less than we were expecting), but where you taste new combinations, get spoiled by the staff, and leave in a great mood. It was a superb birthday gift indeed.

Yelp
Iyo deserves a 4.5, but rounded up for once. Decor, staff and ambience are second to none. Ordered the pork gyoza along with king crab appetizer. Gyoza was typical, had better at other places. King crab was served warm, and amazing. Go with the nigiri, we chose the salmon, toro and zuke. All were the best part of lunch (zuke was a must try). Also tried the 9 piece sashimi chef choice. 3 pieces of tuna, salmon and one fish I've never heard of. Honestly the sashimi was not my favorite, I've had better in the US. Finally was the lobster specialty roll along with fried rice. Lobster roll was good, pretty much how it should taste. Fried rice was fantastic. Dessert was the chocolate Carmel one, il Cubo. It was perfect. Overall presentation and food was top notch. Worth every penny

Yelp
Im a huge fan of the japanese kitchen. Sushi is def. a favourite of mine, and should I hold a single reservation about it, it would be the lack of variation. Iyo, however, are not afraid to create tasty and interesting speciments, and combined with a beautiful setting, and great service it's def. worth a visit. Related to restaurants such as Nobu, theres a nice relaxed ambience to the experience. The service was very friendly and helpful, and the place also holds a very good someliere and bartender. I can recommend a tasting menu to get around the kitchen, and the amount of food is quite well balanced.

Yelp
Gorgeous restaurant, beautiful and delicious food, excellent service. Was able to make a reservation online and request a seggiolino high chair. Accidentally dropped a jar of baby food on the ground and the glass jar shattered. Felt terrible but the staff were so kind about it. Ordered creazioni iyo, spicy edamame, gyosa, nigiri with yellow tail and avocado, gunkan iyo with quail egg, gunkan zucchini e gamberi, and a roll with seared tuna and shrimp tempura. Presentation for each was a delightful sight. Quality and taste were superb. Sophisticated patrons.

Yelp
