Deep Ellum Hostel’s Izkina Transforms Into an Entirely Different Restaurant This Weekend | Eater Dallas

"A Spanish tapas spot that opened inside a hip hostel just a year prior and is now being converted into a more globally focused restaurant. Only the egg-and-potato tortilla española topped with house Spanish hot sauce will remain from the original menu, but the kitchen’s techniques—use of vinegars, fermentation, and preservation—and its rooftop garden will carry over. The operation closed temporarily for the revamp as owners update the menu, lighting and entry sequence to better serve the hostel’s international guests." - Tierney Plumb

Deep Ellum’s Izkina Temporarily Shutters for a Revamp | Eater Dallas

"Closing temporarily just before its first anniversary, the Deep Ellum bar posted a sign saying it would be closed for a “hot minute” while promising “new things” to come. Chef Joel Orsini says the roughly week-and-a-half hiatus will give staff time to revamp the interior and rework the menu into a more open platform that won’t be as narrowly focused on Spanish cuisine." - Amy McCarthy

New Spanish-Influenced Cocktail Bar Izkina Is Open in Deep Ellum | Eater Dallas

"This new Spanish-style eatery and bar in Deep Ellum occupies a 2,000-square-foot space attached to a new hostel where a bed in a hip dorm room rents for $40. The menu centers on tapas and pinxtos (bite-sized snacks) and the drinks list features classic cocktails, local beers, and Spanish wines. It's open daily from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. and will mark its grand opening with a launch party on Thursday, July 19 at 7 p.m., promising complimentary libations and tapas, music, and an open house of the hostel." - Adele Chapin

It Looks Like Deep Ellum Is Getting A New Bar Inspired By Spain | Eater Dallas

"A Spanish-inspired bar-eatery is planned for 2801 Elm Street in Deep Ellum, set to occupy roughly 2,000 square feet inside or adjacent to a forthcoming Deep Ellum Hostel. The concept emphasizes small plates—tapas and pinxtos (bite-sized snacks traditionally served on toothpicks)—and will offer classic cocktails, locally brewed beers, and a wine list dominated by bottles from Spain. The hostel project is a renovation of an 8,000-square-foot historic space expected to include around 15 beds and has been delayed past its originally projected opening; no firm debut date for the eatery has been announced yet, though the venue is currently hiring staff." - Amy McCarthy

The vibe in the place is very nice but whats better is the food. It's amazing. I don't know if the sides or the main courses are better. The greens are the star in my book. The drinks are very strong and will get you right without tasting 100% like alcohol. My only complaint were the steak bites. While they are good and the mash potatoes are amazing, I feel you don't get anywhere near enough steak for the price. Either offer more steak or lower thr price significantly.

Had reservations for a saturday night. Place wasn't packed but food took FOREVER to come out (over 45 minutes). No actual silverware, they gave us to-go plasticware to eat with. The music was too loud and it was uncomfortably cold. I expect better from a place charging automatic 20% gratuity. Not worth the price at all.

Google
First time going here and the food was delicious. I was rushing to eat and didn’t get a chance to get a picture of any of the food. The lamb chops were a little tough, saucy, but not flavorful. The drinks were good and strong. Overall we had a good time.

Google
Overall service was way below avg especially since the gratitude was included at 20%. Took over 30 min for for and 20 min to get a simple beer. Food portion was decent for price. Mac and chess was okay but the greens with turkey meat was great. Server only came ASAP when it switched from food service to club. Table we sat at changed to served and when we asked if we could stay they stayed a bottle would need to be bought to keep table so we left. To me this is a one and done place to try, but does attract a crowd so to each their own.

I made reservations a few weeks out to go here for my husband’s birthday dinner. It was our first time eating here & we were excited because we finally were able to book and have been seeing this restaurant all over social media. I just want to jump straight to the point….parking was so limited and tight. Upon walking up to the door, we were bagged checked by security then proceeded to walk in. The ambiance was ok. We were seated in a booth with a long table in front of us which made it weird to eat at because of the height and set up. We wanted to initially try out a few items on the menu because on their social platforms the food looked so good & we’ve been wanting to come here for so long but they were always booked up. The food was disgusting. All of the videos and pictures posted on their social media page and website looks nothing like it in person. Half of the items that were on the menu they didn’t even have to serve. The best part of the dinner was the taco appetizers we ordered & they were decent. For our main…I ordered lamb chops with Mac-n cheese and collards. The Mac tasted milky and undercooked with absolutely no flavor. The collards were dry and extremely salty. The lamb chops were overcooked and had this old spoiled meat kinda weird taste. My husband ordered oxtails w/rice- Mac-n cheese and yams. The oxtails were very under seasoned and the gravy was extremely thick & dry, Almost tasted like the pack gravy you buy out of the store. The rice was dry and tasted like boil in the bag rice & The yams tasted like the canned ones from Kroger’s- very watery and no flavor! We had to send our food back in hopes of getting something else that would be worthy of the inconvenience. They did bring my husband some wings that were decent, however I requested from the cook asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes in place of the sides I originally received. The waitress brought out some salty fried potatoes and broccoli, then told me they didn’t even have asparagus to serve and didn’t even know why the cook even assured me they did. At that point I was just ready to go and beyond frustrated & hungry. The service was also mediocre. Our bill was $115 (including a mandatory $20 gratuity) I initially think people come here for the hookahs and drinks for real because it can’t be for the food. We left hungry and frustrated. I will never be returning!

Google
Cool atmosphere and music. We sat at the bar and had great service as well as excellent drinks. Everyone we came in contact with had a good attitude and upbeat vibe, but also gave us some great recommendations! Food was delicious although I'm heartbroken the peach cobbler pound cake wasn't available and I forgot to get the crawfish cream sauce on the salmon! Just another reason to come back again! The sinage doesn't do them justice! I'm from out of state and felt like this was a hidden gem! Glad I came to review for myself instead of basing it off others opinions! We must've got 'em on a good night and I couldn't have been more happy we did!

Google
I met my bestie for some girls time. The drinks were tasty. The food was really good. I like the ambiance but I would have to come again to really get the full experience. Some things I noticed….. Although we had reservations, we opted to sit at the bar. Again, the food was good. Service was pretty good. I would suggest that the hostesses greet customers better in my opinion.

Google
Atmosphere is nice, the service was good, the food was not worth half of what they charge. Under cooked chicken, barely seasoned greens, canned yams, catfish is swai not catfish, & mac and cheese tastes like it had lawrys seasoning salt in it. The stuffed salmon was good. We sent back the grilled chicken that was on the cesar salad, we sent back the naked wings both weee under cooked wings were still bleeding and grilled chicken was gummy. The chef Carlos came out and we expressed our feelings about the food he said he was under staffed and doing the best with what he has which was a trainee. He was very polite though, and remade what we sent back. This place is definitely overrated and it’s so unfortunate. The prices are ridiculous and the auto added gratuity is insane. 20% for under cooked meat, lukewarm food, and veggies that I’m certain are from a can. The greens you can tell are the bagged kind but the yams are definitely from a can. I will never go back we spent over $200 and was very dissatisfied

Yelp
This restaurant is false advertising services for an $117 upfront fee. The have advertisement on Eventbrite for the next 2 months that are false. The management said they are unaware of the advertisement and stated it ended 3 weeks ago, but would not offer a refund even after I showed them the advertisement and what I paid. They told me "well you just lost your $117 because we didn't know about the add", Then they told me if you still want a table/booth you would need to purchase a bottle of tequila for $350. PLEASE do not support or attend this Establishment, the ad for "Seductive Saturdays" is a SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Nice ambiance and very chill - definitely adult vibes. My biggest complaint is that the music was way too loud and I felt like I was yelling to my friend and it was hard to have a conversation. Service was a little slow and they weren't even that crowded. I had to go to the bar to ask for service but the young lady was apologetic so I appreciated that. I will say the hole in the wall was a little shocker and could've been covered up. Someone must've gotten angry. Mimosa (watermelon) 6/10: nothing rely special but they have selection of juices to choose from. Catfish, shrimp and grits 7/10: the grits were seasoned well but they were very stiff. The catfish was cooked well though. Salmon deviled eggs 9/10: these were the highlight of the meal. Salmon was seasoned well and the filling was delicious, it also had good flavor. Wings and fries 5/10: the flavor was there but the chicken was ice cold.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place a higher treating because the ambiance and the customer service was amazing!!!! This is a beautiful establishment with great decor and vibes! They have music playing not too loud! A great place to go for hookah, the best prices I've seen in Dallas, with many options and different sizes! The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable of menu items and suggestions! So after scanning the menu I decided to try the blackened salmon! I was told that might not be a good choice because the salmon pieces have been very small lately! I appreciated the honesty. She offered to check but then she came back and said they were completely out! This happens, but I feel as though this is something that should be known before we are given a menu! Then the French Kiss had to be remade! When we got the food the boudin balls were amazing, spicy but would absolutely order again! And the sauce paired perfect! I got the fried fish, with Mac and greens! The greens were good, everything else was average! Would come back for the drinks, boudin and hookah!

Yelp
If I could give them zero stars I would. Drove all the way there according to their Google info and they were closed. I have a very simple suggestion; update the hrs.

Yelp
The food is very delicious! Especially, the brunch menu. I liked the vibe and music. Which is old school and new school music! My favorite spot is the Bar area very roomy and comfortable! Hostess & server were upbeat, professional & fun. The atmosphere was lounge-like If you have a reservation, make sure you arrive on time as the wait can be quite long. However, overall it was a nice place.

Yelp
Let's start from pulling up.. there's some parking on the side of the building, about 9 spots. After that parking runs out you will park on the street which you will pay for.. Walking in you will be searched by security, ngl that had me wondering what I was walking into The place is a nice size and has a DJ. The restroom was clean, and had a nice sized mirror! I wish it had a full length one though. We ordered quite a few things and I'd say that the boudin balls were the best I'd give it an 7 out of 10.. The glazed lamb chops were okay but had a lot of fat on them.. the potatoes weren't cooked enough and were cold omw guessing they had that waiting on the side while they cooked the lamb. The Hawaiian French toast (5) was good as well, but I wish it would have been more and not so small.. The drinks were greattttt! The bartender huck, I think that was his name. He was so nice and the drinks were made on time and stole the show. The reason for my rating was because of the food and the gratuity, I honestly felt like they went overboard.. and as well as being charged a service charge on top of everything else

Yelp
I was skeptical about this restaurant due to the unflattering photos of the food. Then again, photos can be deceiving, so I asked a few of my foodie friends who are brunch junkies. I received mixed reviews, so I was on my own. The brunch bday events went a little something like this...3,2,1. Pros Private lot for parking $13.00 bucks Awesome music Nice aesthetics and ambiance for photos Friendly staff Delish food (Very well seasoned and fresh) The bartender understood the assignment...lbsvs Food prices...reasonable. $17.00 for 7 wings and an order of fries. Which equals $9.00 for fries (ridiculous) and $8.00 for 6 wings. $1.33 a wing is again reasonable. Cons Alcoholic beverage prices...babii proud is an understatement. The izkina hurricane cost $20 and a French kiss cocktail was $16. Don't get me wrong, the beverages were definitely giving "let's get wasted," but I would have drank a few more if the prices weren't so high. Seating arrangements....our party was fourteen people deep. For large crowds, they offer a round booth that is supposed to seat eight individuals comfortably. These people must not have hips, thighs, or cushions because there was nothing comfortable about our seating arrangements. Eventually, we were able to seat half of our party in the booth next to the one we reserved. Would I go back? Yes Would I attend another large gathering there? No Would I recommend this location to others? Yes Thisnis a great restaurant for a girl's night, date night, anniversary or even a bday party. It all depends on the party size.

Yelp
Unfortunately, this lacks my expectations. I would start with parking was a little challenging. It is very limited, and I would recommend that you know how to back your car into the parking spots. Ambiance: Once you walk in, there is a large lobby area with nowhere to sit if you are waiting to be seated. Therefore, I recommend making reservations. During my experience, there were two hosts and one was assisting another customer while the other did nothing but sit behind the desk with no greetings. Once the first returned, I was able to sit down with my party. There is where it interesting because the seating is a big u-shaped booth with a cocktail style table in the middle of the booth. Which could be a little uncomfortable for many folks. The decor was nice and bar area looked really nice. However, the music was too loud for a normal conversation. Service: As I mentioned there were two hosts at the front desk and one was helping, and the other was not doing anything. The host that helping was not very inviting as well. The wait service was very good. They were willing to assist with questions and concerns my party may have had. Food: The food had flavor but lack in presentation. Especially for my pasta. Also, I asked for the shrimp Mardi gras pasta, and I was missing andouille sausage. In addition, we ordered a drink that stated it was frozen from the menu, but the drink was not frozen. In addition, the prices of meals and drinks were not reasonable in opinion. Overall: It was not the greatest experience, and it is hard for me recommend. I wish them well; however I hope from some of the reviews, they will improve in these areas.

Yelp
The servers were super sweet. Cute aesthetics and food. Nice and chill without being crowded. I recommend the catfish & grits.

Yelp
We visited Iskina in Dallas on a Saturday night to celebrate my best friend's birthday, and overall, we had a great time! The ambiance was beautiful, the music set a fun vibe, and the food was truly five-star--everything we ordered was delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive. There were a few hiccups: even though my best friend and her sister ordered before us, their meals came out much later than ours. Also, we got the weekend 2-for-$60 deal, but the desserts were forgotten. However, they did provide an extra complimentary appetizer and a free birthday shot to make up for having to move our table, which was very kind. We'd definitely go back--great food and energy! Overall experience: 4 out of 5 stars.

Yelp
I was visiting Dallas and was looking for a decent hookah lounge/restaurant that didn't have too much of a club vibe, and I stumbled upon Izkina. We were able to walk in and get a table with no reservation, but it's best to make a reservation just in case. We waited a little while for our server to greet us, so service wasn't great. The hookah was large and came with 2 hoses for $45. The food was good! We ordered the oxtail tacos, and the salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The only thing that we didn't really care for about the food was that the broccoli was over seasoned and salty. Other than that everything was good.

Yelp
This is my third time dining with Izkina and the food always hits the spot. A great place to listen to music, watch a game, and enjoy some really good food. My staple has become the catfish, shrimp, and grits. You cannot go wrong and will absolutely leave full as a tick!

Yelp
The food was good, service was great (thanks to Huck), and it has a nice ambiance. We will be back.

Yelp
Great vibes in general. Visited on a Tuesday night and the vibes were nice. Not super crowded and i honestly saw quite a few couples. The music was diverse and the bartender Serg or Paul was super fun. The general ambiance and vibes is a 10/10 Food was fresh and flavorful. The drink was on point!
google avatar

G S.

Yelp
The service was quick and efficient, and the food was delicious. We started with the deviled eggs and shrimp [I don't remember the name ], which was tasty (I attached a photo). For my main course, I enjoyed the wings with greens and mac 'n cheese...I'm country, I needed some cornbread but they don't serve it! . My husband enjoyed the catfish with sweet potatoes and rice and gravy! The food arrived promptly, hot and fresh. However, the music was a bit too loud, making conversation challenging. While the music selection was nice, I found myself singing along a few times, it was just too loud for my 40+ ears.... Overall, the food and service were excellent, but due to the loud music we cut our visit short after eating.....

Yelp
We came for dinner and what a TIME we had. They have cute signs and swings that's picture perfect. Then a secret entrance to the back behind a book shelf which i thought was cool. DJ was playing all the hits so it was a really good vibe. Dinner is served until about 830pm. After that they switch to the late night menu. I got the steak tacos, which were bomb! And ended up ordering more! My friend who got the catfish wasn't too impressed with her entree choice. Soon after dinner, the ambiance changes to a night club setting so seating is limited unless you have booth reservations. Overall it was a fun time.

Yelp
Came on a Monday and didn't have a reservation. However we were seated quickly. We Ordered the chicken wings and fries which were well seasoned and hot and fresh. ordered the vanilla and strawberry hookah, though we wouldn't get this mix again the hookah was ultimately smooth. Music was great and place was clean and had fairly fast service.

Yelp
Let's talk about it... The fact that the "Socials" hyped this place up and to finally get there and experience the element... *sigh* Well let's start with the very 1st thing... IT WAS 30 BELOW 0 in there... I know we're in Texas..I know it gets hotter than Satan's living room..but for the AC to be on ANARTICA was a bit much... we weren't the only patrons complaining about the coldness... So...cold...no FREEZING Had an idea of what I wanted order based off reviews from all the social posts ! Me- Chops..Mac n cheese..greens and po boy sliders ..boom.. asked about cornbread..don't sell it...how ?? Like .greens with no cornbread..another Old Lady Gang memory..I digress.. don't worry about the greens..went with the green beans Other orders - wings, catfish, yams Mac n cheese, salmon deviled eggs and oxtail birria tacos... Order a few drinks as well Appetizer Overview Salmon DE - meh Oxtail tacos - blah..the gravy made them edible - didn't eat them all Shrimp po boy sliders - ..... shrimp was cold and not cooked to order presentation is everything..just saying..for the extra service fees charged..make it seem appealing Sides.. 2 of the 3 orders of Mac N cheese were soupy..like literally Mac n cheese soup..and guess what COLD..had to send one back Now let's get into the best thing ordered. Green beans and yams.. Green beans good and hot..very flavorful..9/10 FRFR Yams were tasty..not overly sweet and texturally on point Mains The Lambchops... the must have ordered from the mini mini lamb butcher... catch my drift... taste was okay... nothing to write home about Catfish seasoned pretty good Wings decent I really really really wanted to enjoy this spot based on Social reviews but yea..either it was jjust a BIG MISS this time or them folks lying.. ion know..I'd go back for the beans and yams tho

Yelp
They definitely redeemed themselves this time. Bre ensured the drinks were perfect and kept track of our food, making sure it was served hot and we weren't forgotten. If you go in the evening, look for Bre--she's one of two, you will know her once you meet her one of a kind. Arrive when they open,She's super friendly, sociable, and never gives you a bad look when you call her name. The vibe is nice, the music is great, so I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Never Again! Negative -0 out of 10! I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! We sat down for dinner at 8:30 p.m., and unbelievably, our food didn't come out until 10:40 p.m. And when it finally did, everything was cold. The meals didn't even come out together; the staff brought plates one by one, even though there were eight of us at the table. To make matters worse, they ran out of pasta for one of our friends and kept substituting things she didn't want, then still charged her for it. And told her the kitchen was closed when she asked for what she actually ordered. The service was disorganized and slow, and no manager ever came by to apologize for the inconvenience. By the time our food arrived, the restaurant staff had literally started breaking down the place to turn it into a lounge while we were still eating. The lamb chops were tiny for $42 for three small pieces and two sides, and they were gone in two bites. Parking was a mess, service was trash, and the overall treatment was rude and careless. This was supposed to be a special birthday dinner for my cousin, and it turned into a complete disaster. I would never recommend Izkina to anyone. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere that actually values its customers. And the DJ was flat-out rude, testing the music at an unacceptably loud volume while we attempted to eat the unseasoned cold food. WE WILL NOT BE BACK!
google avatar

Jenai B.

Yelp
Had reservations for 2 at 7. Wasn't seated until 730. Food was good, but overpriced and they have an automatic 20% gratuity.
google avatar

Kanisha D.

Yelp
I went Izkina last night for my cousin's birthday, and the place is beautiful and has a good vibe. However, the food was VERY subpar. I ordered the salmon deviled eggs and the garlic butter steak bites with collard greens and a side salad. The deviled eggs were nothing spectacular and although I asked for medium well steak bites, I was served over cooked steak bites that were dry and mostly gristle. For the price I paid for my food including the 20% gratuity, the food was not the worth the price. I would not recommend this place for the food or the overpriced weak drinks. The ambiance is nice, but there are other places in Dallas that offer better food, drinks, and experience.

Yelp
Very warm, nice ambiance. Good, tasty food. Nice mixed drinks. I've visited a couple of times. Highly recommended.

Yelp
My family decided to do a birthday brunch here . We found this restaurant on Tik Tok and decided to give it a try. Located in Dallas Texas. Upon walking in pretty adult swings available to swing on and brjng your inner kid out. As walking in the building pretty colors and sultry and romantic feel. Small and quaint. Neon lights are always a plus and good for picturesque moments. Seating is ample in booths and tables , high and lo top available. DJ is definitely doing his job and making the music get you to grooving and shaking your shoulders like Tina Turner. Our waitress Kim was very helpful, friendly and professional. Drinks were great , we ordered a mimosa tower and French kiss drinks. Very sour and good. Menu is plentiful . Chicken and waffles, shrimp salmon and grits, ox tails and grits, ox tail tacos, chicken with waffle batter, shrimp and grits were some things ordered. Only complaint , my chicken was not fully cooked and the majority of it was red, when staff was made aware instead of taking off my bill I only got $10 dollars off . I should not have had to ask , that should have been a given . It could have automatically been taken off with an apology. Whatever, not worth the hassle of screaming and yelling. Because of that I probably won't come back .

Yelp
I am a toss-up between a 4 and a 3.5 so we will seeat the end. I know it is a speakeasy but being frisked at the door of a restaurant is weird to me. Like who are we letting up in here? I will give that experience an 1. The hostess and her patience with my late party I will give her a 5. Although I didn't like having security that does wand searches and checks purses, I liked his energy. I will give him a 4. I liked the music but the DJ talked too much be quiet sir. I will give him a 3. Kayla, whose name isn't Kayla was our server. I am most definitely giving her a 5. Now to the food. My lamb chops were good season to perfection and I would go back just because of them. We went for brunch but I wish I could have gotten a different side, I really didn't want eggs and potatoes. I give the food a 4. I tried my associate's ox tail. The gravy was everything I give the ox tail a 5. My other associate had the shrimp and salmon, I wasn't impressed. I give it a 2. The appetizer of firecracker shrimp!!! Yas!!! Lordt. I give them a 5. That is a rating of 3.77. I am going to mark 4. I would say try it for yourself.

Yelp
Foodie Alert! I finally checked out the Kajun Konnextion Group's speakeasy at Izkina. And once again, the food and service did not disappoint! Located in the heart of South Dallas, they offer a mixture of cajun food, soul food, + specialty cocktails. Everything Tuesday is "R&B Tuesdays" + $4 Lamb Chops (until sold out) - From 5pm-12am So go check them out and tell them Ms. Hope sent you! #MsHopeEats $4 Lamb Chop (Jerk & Glazed) Salmon Meal w/ Crawfish Cream Sauce Mac & Cheese Yams

Yelp
My girlfriends and I went to celebrate one of our birthdays. Going in, we didn't know what to expect. I like the intimate space. The vibe is also really nice. Since we made reservations, we were seated fairly quickly after being searched by security. Once we were seated, our waitress, Paula, came over to greet us and take our drink order. We all decided to get one of their holiday drinks. Before our entrees, we ordered apps - jerk shrimp and salmon deviled eggs. The deviled eggs were delicious. We weren't too thrilled about the shrimp. I had never seen jerk shrimp fried. It wasn't what I expected. The shrimp tasted more like they fried them and smothered them in hot sauce. One friend ordered the blackened catfish, mac n cheese, with red beans and rice. My other friend ordered the blackened salmon, mac n cheese with yams. I ordered the blackened salmon, greens with yams. Everything had good flavor. However, some of the dishes were a bit too salty for us. Even so, it was still good food. Overall, we would return back. If you decide to go, make sure you make reservations.

Yelp
Went here for Tuesday $4 lamb chop night , met my friends at the bar. The place has a nice and sexy ambience, music at the perfect level it's not overbearing. Service of the bartenders were slow, not quick to acknowledge you or take your order. I ordered (3) lamb chops and Mac. The minimum order is 3 and you must purchase a side $9 totaling $21 my friend ordered $17 oxtail tacos no side included (2 tacos comes with the order). Received the lamb chops omg they are so small I have not ever seen anything like it, it came with like a spicy barbecue sauce, the bowl of Mac was like a kids size portion. My friend received her oxtail tacos, I kid you not three prices of oxtail meat on each taco and it came with some type of gravy. My friend also purchased an old fashion however they did not have all the ingredients to make that. So so in all with the auto grat we both spent $35 for food that was not fulfilling. The business morality of what is being served to the customers I felt I was swindled. The climate of what we're living in customers want to get the value for their money and this place is not it. I could have went down the block spent a hot $20 bucks been full, fast and satisfied. Do better with what you're providing to customers

Yelp
I've been eyeing this place. I love patron black owned places so of course I had to try it out. My husband and cousin and I came on a Wednesday. There are three doors and it's a little confusing but the door to enter is the one furthest from the curb facing the main street. We had reservations and were immediately sat. Our waitress was nice but not super helpful when asking questions about the menu. We ordered one of their seasonal drinks the pumpkin spice espresso martini. My cousin said it's the worst one she's ever had. It didn't help that it didn't come in an actual martini glass or have the signature coffee beans. I ordered the Paloma which was okay. As an appetizer we got the wings which suprisinglt came with fries and it was delicious. My husband got the fish shipped and fries which I tried. It was perfectly fried and tasty. I ordered the lamb chops and was throughly disappointed. They were extremely small !! For $42 I expected better. The sides were delicious. The Mac and greens are definitely worth trying . We came as soon as they opened for dinner but or food came with plastic utensils and plastic ramekins. If you come here you'd be better off coming for the lounge aspect as opposed to the restaurant. Still get food but know you'll pay high prices for less than high service. They also automatically add 20% gratuity. I would still return for the wings and fries and sides. Possibly as a Togo order

Yelp
Food was good service was excellent ambiance/setting stellar. I met new friends and old shout out to Huck (th bartender at Izkina) and the other bartender Jordan. They were welcoming and attentive. I will definitely be going back.

Yelp
Even though the food took a long time to come out, we always understood. The food was absolutely delicious. The deviled eggs to the wings. Everything was delicious. The servers were really nice and had great customer service. I definitely come back for sure!

Yelp
I reserved a table and was there for maybe hour and half. And was told that my time was up at the table that I had to move the bar while I'm still ordering drinks and smoking hookah

Yelp
Rude! No manners! Unprofessional. Didn't even last 10 minutes in this facility before walking out. Everyone was rude with no manners or customer service. This place won't last that long in Dallas. Why have a greeter at the door that's rude and on her phone the entire time!

Yelp
Izkina has a chill vibe for a speakeasy, which my friend and I appreciated when we visited around 6 PM. Although all tables were booked early, no one was seated until after 8 PM, so we ended up sitting at the bar. We started with the Salmon Deviled Eggs, which were quite good. For my meal, I had the Blackened Redfish ($40.00) with crawfish cream sauce, greens with smoked turkey, and mac and cheese. My friend ordered the Blackened Salmon ($30.00) with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Unfortunately, he had to return the mashed potatoes because they were cold, and the salmon was dry and unimpressive. As for drinks, I had a double shot of vanilla Crown, but their whiskey/bourbon selection isn't very extensive. My friend ordered a glass of Miomi wine, but it tasted old, as if the bottle had been sitting out for a while, so he had to return it. Overall, we enjoyed watching the college games and catching up, but for a bill over $130, the food quality didn't quite match the price.

Yelp
We had a great time here! The music was a vibe and environment was a vibe! The food was very tasteful and amazing! Last but not least the mimosas were nice and strong but they did not over do it. No complaints above the service. It was perfect!

Yelp
The 2 for $60.00 is a straight rip off!!! The menu was a busted QR code table sign that was full of food and grime! The appetizer was good, but the Catfish Dinner terrible as it was one half of a half filet (basically a catfish nugget), and the two side was NOT proportioned to the nugget - I mean filet. Regardless of the disproportion, I wanted greens and sauce for that little ass piece of catfish nugget. Please tell my WHY the sauce was brought out in a TAKE OUT bowl with no lid. We took the Cajun Pasta home after reheating, it soooo much grease we couldn't eat it, and the noodles were so overcooked, they're falling apart. If we had known that this so-called "special" was such poor quality, we would have gone to Chili's or Applebees, I'm certain it would have been better! The food quality is definitively giving...we fired the experienced cooks - too expensive, so let's just got some dudes from the jail work release program. I know we're not influencers but we deserve much better for our hard earned coins for what was supposed to be $60 that turned into $112 with 18% gratuity and a 3% service charge when adding a side and Margarita! DO THA MATH!! Yeah, it's a ripoff! Last point - you know they're falling off when THE SILVERWARE IS PLASTIC WHEN DINING IN TOO. Pathetic!

Yelp
TERRIBLE!!! We got seated at 2:40pm and waited an hour for food just for it to be COLD!!! I told them it was cold and waited 30 more minutes for "HOT" food which then came out still COLD!!!! THIS PLACE IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND DOES MOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!!! Bad experience and I will not be eating here again!!!!

Yelp
This has become one of my favorite restaurants. I typically stop by on Thursday evenings after work to get the 3 for $10 birria tacos and an order of salmon deviled eggs (my favorite.) I've enjoyed all of the food I've tried here, and plan to visit today with some coworkers!

Yelp
It was my first time going and I was anticipating a great experience because of all the hype that I have been seeing on instagram and tik tok and other social media outlets..! But boy was I in for a surprise, I waited over 50 minutes for my food , my entrees came out before my appetizer , and the place wasn't even packed..! Then when I finally got my food everything was cold and hard....! 'My rice was hard &the redbeans were cold, my Mac&cheese was stuck to the bowl, you can tell that the food was sitting for a long time because it was locked up and was cold, and the fact that my food looked dried out tells me that my food has been ready just sitting in the window waiting to be ran, && if not then, They just gave me food that was just laying around...! Maybe I just went on a bad night, idk... but to be a popular spot, this was a dang joke..! If this is how they operate then they really need to go back to the drawing board && this restaurant is definitely overhyped and overpriced.. I paid $89 for just those two plates && 2 redbulls..! I still tipped my server even though they still charged me a 20% gratuity that they did not deserve nor earned...! I will not be coming back here ..! Places like these are just a quick money grab ..!

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars, I would. Overall, my experience was lackluster, and not the standard they claim to have. I ordered a drink, and the blacked catfish with asparagus amd mac n cheese. My asparagus and blackened catfish came out cold. The blackened catfish was served to me undone, cold and gooey. You couldn't even cut it with a paper fork it was so raw and undone. I was disgusted and appalled that a restaurant would be so careless as to serve me uncooked food. They also gave us paper utensils when everyone else had proper utensils. I then ordered chicken strips as a substitute and they were ok, cooked very hard though. Our waitress was Kim and she was great. Upon leaving, we were sitting in the front off to the side and their fake security guard wouldn't allow us to wait inside for our Lyft that was 4 minutes away. He told us we could wait outside (which is dangerous in Deep Ellum) or inside the restaurant where there was no where to sit. Them, we had a full 2 hours with our table but at the 1.5 hour mark, they rushingly started cleaning our table off and turning it into a club. It felt very rushed and unprofessional. There was live music and a DJ but the music was choppy, although the songs played were good. Overall, my experience was a 0/10 and I would no recommend wasting your money or time to go here.

Yelp
The food was amazing. The service was on point. The vibe was instagram worthy. Go early to secure street parking.

Yelp
Nice ambiance, good music however staff not organized, and my opinion food over priced for portions especially cocktails. Love the concept of this restaurant, soul food menu. Staff meeting need to be had to discuss executing food to the table at a timely manner. Also had reservations for 7 had to wait for my entire party to arrive so I decided to hit up the bar. Only thing no one acknowledged me to take my order. Also disappointedly yams were undercook and dry(lacked juice).

Yelp
This restaurant was enjoyable. My server was very attentive, with a great attitude, and her recommendations were spot on. Service: 10 Our food is rated as follows: Salmon devil eggs 10 Boudin Balls 7 Fried Fish, Shrimp, and Grits 7 Salmon, Shrimp, and Grits 6 (just a little more flavor would've been nice. Salmon was cooked beautifully). Loved the Champagne Tower!!! Worth it! We will return.

Yelp
OMG! This restaurant has the best promo video that looks like a 5 star restaurant. However, the only thing that was in the 5 star category was the PRICE. The Lamb Chops were smaller than chicken wing flats, the chicken breast was a FLAT 1/4 inch. The bread pudding was hard, the peach cobbler was undercooked and gummy. My menu cost $108 and it wasn't worth $40. It was the same with the other 8 people in our group. However, the catfish was the bomb out of everything. Two people had greens and both sent it back because it was sour. Also, they had the nerve to send security to our table because we passed our two hour limit. We had ten people and the service was slow, and we hadn't received our checks yet. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.

Yelp
I went to Izkina for happy hour today and overall had a really really good time the music was amazing my food was amazing my drinks were amazing and the customer service was really really good today. The only reason I am giving four out of five stars is because of timing I think they should work on the wait time for receiving drinks as well as food but overall the quality of the food and drinks compensated for the time I waited. It has a beautiful interior all the ambience is like none other and you feel like you're somewhere else I will definitely return and hopefully the timing will improve but I will definitely be back for the food and the vibes.

Yelp
Deviled eggs, Oxtail, and HURRICANE IZKINA were excellent. By far the best meal I've had in recent memory.

Yelp
Ambience was nice. We stopped in for a late brunch/drink on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised how it was set up in the inside. Quite different from the outside. Shrimp and grits were good nothing special to them that I haven't tasted before. I always order shrimp and grits if they are on the menu. Cheese cream sauce on top was tasty. Catfish and grits - really good!!! Catfish cooked perfect, meaty and crispy. We sat at the bar for a quick drink and bites and it worked! I would come back again with a group of girls to enjoy brunch.

Yelp
We visited this establishment on Wednesday and I can see we were sadly DISAPPOINTED. Upon arrival the greetings was less than pleasant however we were seated timely. The place was definitely NOT busy as there were maybe 4 tables of customers and a group of employees standing around. With that being said we waited approximately 12-13 minutes before getting up to "ask" for service. The server was nice but not informed on the menu. The menu basically appeared to have soul food options but no form of bread (no cornbread but greens is just sad lol)I ordered well done salmon and it came out hot but not well done and lacked flavor. The greens were super salty and the yams that cost me $9 extra was no where near full bowl (maybe 6 yam slices). My friend ordered the whole chicken wings and they were not thoroughly cooked/bloody. The best part was Brooke the manager! She was super pleasant and professional yet she confirmed what the server had indicated which was that the kitchen has different management ‍ they basically work together but separately. Unfortunately this is not on the radar to visit again.
