Yelp
We were excited to try this place based on the previous reviews and the Yelp site itself but, unfortunately, we were a bit let down.
One menu item I was looking forward to trying was included in a feature photo on the Yelp site - chicken liver. Unfortunately, it's no longer on the menu. Maybe they'll bring it back some day, I hope! We were presented with a menu which was very different than what was represented here on Yelp; therefore, I'm including pictures of their current menu (as of July 2021).
After much debate, I settled in on the Mortadella Mama - the tang of the vinegary relish against the fattiness of quality bologna (as it's called in America), a bite of arugula, nestled in between two pieces of buttery brioche. I was excited. When I finally bit into my sandwich (service was slow), the brioche was every bit as buttery as expected, but that's where the lushness ended. The mortadella tasted like everyday bologna, there wasnt even a trace of the relish, and only a few pieces of arugula that was non-existent as a flavor.
My husband had the muffaletta sandwich and his response was similar to mine. He likened it to getting American food at a Chinese restaurant. He said that he probably should've gotten this sandwich at a Creole/New Orleans-type restaurant.
San Diego street parking per usual; no specific disabled parking. That said, there no stairs to get to the place and there's a ramp on the street (kind of hidden) to the entrance.
If you like cocktails, this is the place for you, just not me (sober girl). Invigatorium, Modern Times Coffee's hotspot, shares the space next door (without a wall). That's where you'll order food to go if that's all you're getting. Nice outdoor seating, with umbrellas and lounge chairs - bring your sunscreen.
