Even though I live approximately 1hr away from this location I make the drive because the pork belly sandwich is the best! I have never had a better sandwich in my life. I highly recommend it! The bread is freshly made and the hot sauce that is used is incredible! If you don’t like spicy get it on the side you will not regret trying it!.

My boyfriend and I saw and decided on this place for lunch. I wish I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars. The food and smoothie we had was amazing. Not only was it insanely healthy but it was so fresh and filling for only $20 each. Awesome place that deserves 5 ⭐️

This is specialty place. Don’t come here expecting more of the same. This is a peruvian sandwich shop, where aside from the regular peruvian sandwiches they create authentic peruvian food “in a sandwich”. Been here many times but never did a review so here it is. Today I found they now make organic chicken or pork tamales on Saturdays and Sundays. Totally recommend the place and talk to the owners, they are always there and are very friendly. They’ll explain every dish with passion.

Authentic Pan con Chicharrón here is unbeatable-pork belly, fried sweet potato, mayo and onions, all served on fresh bread baked right in the restaurant. Great food and great service—highly recommend!

Disappointing….. we chose this place based on the Google reviews. We flew to Miami to visit family and get away from the Midwest for a few days. I hope that management can prevent this situation from happening again. I think this place has something good going. Based on the reviews, looks like we had an out of the ordinary experience, our only experience at this restaurant nevertheless. Food was okay. Small portions. Food super overpriced. Place lacks customer service. We were served extra food on accident. The gentleman there, not sure if he was the owner or manager came to our table to tell us that the cashier lady gave us an extra salad. He stood there awkwardly and finally said, “enjoy your free salad.” Let’s rewind a few minutes here. When we ordered it was unclear what we ordered. Apparently there are three variations to most dishes. When we ordered we weren’t given an option as we didn’t know how the menu worked. The lady kept nodding, not saying much. It would have been nice if she would have said something like, “Would you like that as a sandwich or served with rice and …” that way we knew our options. We asked her to repeat the order. It seemed accurate. The communication from the cashier should have been better. It was more than obvious that we hadn’t been there before. When the same lady who took our order served it to us, I commented to my wife, “Oh, I guess you (my wife) ordered two salads. I guess I’ll eat this one.” All along the lady didn’t say anything. She left back to the cashier area, away from our table. Fast forward two or so minutes…. Now there’s a man at our table showing his disapproval of our free salad. First of all, we didn’t want a free salad. We wanted the food that we ordered. It was unclear how the error occurred. If he was unhappy with giving away lettuce, he should take it up with his employee who was probably not properly trained. I struggle to give this place satisfactory marks due to the man’s lack of self awareness or disregard for us. The food was okay. Nothing to wrote home about. The portions were small and therefore overpriced. The dining experience was awkward because of the interaction with the cashier and the manager.

Due to Covid transactions are done through a plastic sheath but beyond that I give J28 five stars. I ordered the pork sandwich and found it to be unique in a good way. First, I thought the bread which is this plump bun would overpower the sandwich but it acted like “air bread” and worked really well with the sandwich. It was also very fresh. The sandwich had a combination of pork, onions, and sweet potato which came together as a flavor bomb. I was totally sold on my unique sandwich and would return.

Top line: some of the best empanadas and Peruvian chicharron sandwiches of all time. The name undersells this place. It's also in a nondescript location. You could easily walk by and miss it, or think that it was a local Subway. And you'd totally miss out. Tucked into this small, clean space is a wonder of empanada excellence. I had both the carne and pollo. The names evoke the familiar but the tastes transcend them. The fillings are the stars and they are scrumptious. Binge-worthy. I've always preferred croquetas and these empanadas change my calculus entirely. I've never had anything like them. And then there is the chicharron sandwich. First, they bake their own bread. And it's outstanding. At first I thought it was too much bread. But it's so light and airy with such a satisfying external crunch it's as if it's not there, allowing the ingredients to shine through. The pork was delicioso and the vegetables and citrus marinade were amazing. If you've had a great banh me sandwich you're in the ballpark of textures and flavors, but this creation blows the best of those away. Everything here is homemade from what are clearly the best ingredients. And the owner and his brother are passionate about making great food. Absolutely, unconditionally, five stars.

My wife, stepson (23), and son (10) came here after seeing this a long time ago on Triple D with annoying Guy Fieri. My wife is from Peru and for fun we try lots of Peruvian places when and wherever we travel. They are known for their chicharrón sandwiches served in the classic way on house made bread. That means pork belly, salsa criolla, and thin slices of sweet potato. This wasn't my order but I tried it and it was delicious. Importantly, my wife said it was perfect: It reminds me of MY COUNTRY and all that. She also had the palta rellena, an abocado stuffed with chicken salad. She and my stepson who split that said it was delicious. For his main dish my stepson who lives lomo saltado ordered that in as a bowl. That's his favorite entree and he said it was delicious (I agreed when trying it). My little son and I wanted their chicken salad sandwich and it was just perfect. They toast their own chicken for this and remember, their own bread takes it to another level. It was perfectly seasoned and tasty. We are not in this part of Florida (we just moved from New York like all of the productive NYers), but it's about 30 minutes from Miami so I expect we will be back when we are on the road reasonably far north from our place. The owner there (saw him on TV as well as in person) works hard and it's nice how this impacts every last menu item. That alone says try it and support them.

We came across this sandwich spot due to the many reviews it had so decided to add another one. First off, the man who helped us I assume is the owner. He was so kind and helpful. Walked us thru the menu options and told us what might work best for us. We went for the beef wok stir fry in a bowl. One with Peruvian quinoa and one with rice and beans. He asked us if we liked spicy, and brought us some spicy sauce when he brought us our meal. This food is amazing! Def the beef stir fry should be eaten in a bowl. Too much for a sandwich. This place is a hidden gem that we come back to try a sandwich instead.

This spot isn't 5 stars for nothing! J28 has the best chicharon sandwich outside of Peru in my opinion. Go try!

1-13-24 12:30 Saturday lunch Came here for lunch with hubby we only left the house a couple blocks away cause Guy Fieri had this place on his show. After paying the mobile app to park $1.85 an hour we went inside. Than we ordered I got what Guy had the Organic Peruvian Quinoa and Mushroom Saltado and a Pellegrino since there was no Light Beers. Hubby got the Lomo Saltado Beef as a sandwich. It was served with a roll for him to put together. He said he should have got it as a bowl. This and a Corona for the two of us it was $53.00 for lunch for counter service ie I know food is high also I live in a tourist area. The quinoa was a very small grain and it was the main ingredient would have liked to have seen more vegetables. The taste was like charred but the after taste stayed with you so that is why it got a three star. If I come back I definitely would try something different. Sorry Guy you loved it I didn't. The seating was metal table and chairs definitely to get you in and out quickly. The staff were super friendly.

This place was amazing. Hands down get the Lomo Saltado. Our group got multiple versions of it. Meat was so tender and the flavor was sooo good. I got it with plane rice and was very delicious!

A fantastic little Peruvian sandwich shop. Great location in front of Young Circle with plenty of parking. The bread is baked fresh on premises. The prices are very reasonable and everything is made from scratch and super fresh. Not only do they have Peruvian sandwiches, but they have all types of Peruvian Staples like Lomo Saltado, Rice bowls, empanadas and many more delicious items. Don't sleep on this place.

My husband's one of the beloved chicharon sandwich places. Chicharon is juicy and flavorful. Very fulfilling. I ordered 2 beef empanadas- they are good , beef is more like beef stew style juicy and long cooked. Among all empanadas I tried my favorite is still from Miski cafe. Yucca was perfect- hot, crispy and tasty! My strawberry and papaya smoothie was good! The menu allows you to choose what will satisfy your appetite! Recommend to visit this

The food ? Stellar! The service? Totally off-putting. (Minus 1 star). Honestly it surprised me cause it's not my first time here, but today : it was weird. To me, food is an "experience," and service is a big part, specially in these little pop-shops where the owner is doing his best to "connect" to the customers, right? I dont come here just to pay $18 for a sandwich, I hope for a nice greeting, maybe some chit chat, maybe a taste of something new that will make me wish to return and order that the next time... maybe even a smile! Well, that's not what I got today! After my cheerful greeting, I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. (It is awesome)... And the guy (owner presumably) said "can't you make it at home?" Seriously. Not smiling : just killing me. What? Yea I can actually- he then went on to tell me " just boil some chicken, add Mayo and you're done". Thank you sir. I replied: "why yes I can! I can make everything on your menu, actually- but today I have a chicken salad sandwich craving: so: would you then sell me a couple of your bread rolls? That would be perfect- I could then make the perfect sandwich right ?" "Oh no lady, we dont sell the bread." Well then I'll have a chicken salad sandwich please! To which he replied that the pork belly was delicious... and I countered with "yes, I agree- sadly I had pork yesterday and today I have a craving for chicken salad. " Let me just say that the chit chat did not work today. also no tastes of anything. He explicitly said everything was for sale here- no tasters- when I asked. Anyway: The sandwich was expensive but good. It comes with fries that are freshly made to order, another point for them, and they have an online ordering platform at j28.com and there you can pre-order, pay, and not have to be subject to this type of aggressive chitchat... In the future (if I ever do return) I may just preorder and quickly pick-up (instead of waiting for) my order...‍ Lighten up man! We all just want to have good food, and maybe a smile!

came in right before they closed and the guy serving us was very friendly, let us take our time and gave us recs. Food came out fast and even though i could tell it wasn't fresh (because we came right before they closed) it was still amazing, the flavors were top tier. -1 star because of price, 15 dollars is steep for a sandwich of its size. I'm aware of the food network feature which explains the price, but still great food nonetheless.

"Don't pass this spot up. Everything on the menu is so delicious. Favorites are chicken saltado bowl and chicharrone bowl. If you like spicy go for the sauce it's amazing heat and a little goes a long way" I wrote this review 4 years ago and it still stands strong. We have been loyal consumers at this establishment and I would like to add that every single time we come here the food is consistently delicious. We have not been here one time and recieved nothing but the best quality and service. Such a delicious quick lunch, stop by pick it up and head to the beach.

J28 Sandwich bar is one of the best food spots in Hollywood The Chicharron sandwich is one of the best things I've ever had. That delicious fresh baked bread, the amazing pork belly, with the pickled onions and spicy mayo, its seriously delicious. I also get a side of fire sauce to add to the sandwich. Definitely spicy but avoid if you hate spice. But if you are a lover of spicy foods like me, it is a must try. I've also tried the turkey sandwich they have. While it was also really good, it was no Chicharron sandwich. Small spot on the inside. Few tables and counter seats. I usually get take out and the food is always still so fresh and hot. Marco is always there with a smiling face serving up the best food. Glad this place received the recognition it deserved on DDD. This is my usual Friday late lunch/early dinner spot. Hours are a little funky so try and get there before 5pm and they are closed on Mondays on Tuesdays.

I LOVE this place!! You can get the Lomo Saltado in a bowl or in a sandwich form. I think the Lomo Saltado Sandwich is the best style to get, the bread they use for the sandwich is yummy. The workers/owners there are soooo friendly and always the sweetest.

Don't let the industrial-sounding name fool you. After trying empanadas at multiple restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops, these are the bomb. Had the chicken-thigh filled one and then had to have another and tried the beef which was equally delicious. Savory tender meat inside surrounded by a soft succulent crust with a hint of sweetness. The chicharron pork sandwich was also incredible with a bright citrusy dressing, crunchy red onion and a tender layer of sweet potatoes. Unfortunately for my waistline, this gem is down the street from where I live. A must go!

Food is 5/5. I love Peruvian food and this place does it well. The lomo saltado was incredibly tender and flavorful. The chicharron bowl was good too but I was more a fan of the lomo saltado. My only complaint was that this place was a bit pricey and you pay extra for the sauces. Service was excellent though, super friendly and fast.

Wowwwwww!! What a nice, cozy amazing spot. Had a chance to try two sandwiches, the chicharron sandwich and the 11 spices chicken sandwich, OMG! at first I thought I was going to like the Chicharron sandwich more but the chicken sandwich really surprised me. The flavor of the chicken was off the charts. The bread was soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Two of the best sandwiches I've had! Service was also excellent, shout-out to Javier and Marco for this amazing concept. Can't wait to go back!!!

This review is another entry in my tour of the places in south Florida Guy Fieri has eaten at with his show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I have a Yelp collection if you want to follow along with my adventures. The show first aired in 2006 and it is on its 42nd season of Guy's road trips across America where he highlights some of America's most underrated and delicious local eats. Opened in 2014, this Peruvian sandwich shop took their name from the date they opened July, 28th which also happens to be Peru's Independence Day. Guy visited J28 in January of 2020. Although I am not very familiar with Peruvian cuisine I was game to try such a highly rated restaurant. J28 is owned by bothers Javier and Marco Rondon who serve up street sandwiches and other authentic dishes. The restaurant is cozy with a few seats inside and a few more outside. Your order at the counter and pay and when your food is ready they bring it out to you. They have some things I am familiar with on the menu like turkey and chicken salad sandwiches but I wanted what Guy had, the chiccharon pork belly which is marinated pork belly deep fried, with pickled red onions and sweet potato on a house baked Rosa roll.($11.70). You can also get it served in a rice and beans bowl. They asked how spicy I wanted it and I wimped out. To go with my meal I ordered a fun Kola Inglesa, a bright red Peruvian soda bottled by the Cocoa- Cola Company. Introduced in 1912 it has a cherry strawberry flavor and is popular across Peru. I bit into my sandwich despite not really enjoying pork belly which I find too fatty or sweet potatoes but I was pleasantly surprised because in this sandwich they both worked. The pork belly wasn't overly fatty and the sweet potatoes made for a sweet and savory sandwich. I loved the pillowy fresh roll with its crunchy exterior and soft interior that they bake in the restaurant. The pickled onions added so much flavor to the sandwich. My only regret is not requesting the fire sauce on the side. I don't normally like very hot and spicy but I would have liked to have tried it with this sandwich. I loved my experience at J28. My sandwich was so tasty. It's easy to see why they have such stellar reviews. After this delicious meal I think I might be more open to trying other Peruvian dishes in the future.

Love this place - the pork belly sandwich was so good that I have been trying to recreate it at home ever since I went! The people working there were also sooo nice. 10/10 and excited to go back next time I am in town!

I came on a late afternoon when it wasn't busy and enjoyed having the opportunity to talk to the owner (presumably) and learn a little about the food and the menu. I ultimately ordered the aji de gallina with beans and potatoes, and everything was delicious. As a bonus, on the way out I was gifted a couple of rolls of bread to have with my leftovers. I'm not surprised this place has such stellar reviews here. I'll be returning to try the lomo saltado and the empanadas.

Service was amazing! Took us a minute to find the place but the gentlemen were so helpful in talking us through the menu. He talked me into trying the purple Peruvian tea and I was so glad I did! Everything was delicious. A great spot.

I've been to Peru and had Peruvian food a few times and yet there were still things on this menu that I had no idea what they were. Today I tried the lucuma Smoothie, which is a Peruvian fruit blended with milk. It tastes a bit like butterscotch and is sweetened. I really liked it.

We ordered some catering from J28. The food was great, especially their lomo saltado bowl; the steak was soft and their grilled veggies were very tasty! The bread that they use for their pork sandwiches is outstandingly soft and delicious.

Delicious authentic Peruvian restaurant. They import their ingredientes from Peru so the taste is great. Also they backed their own bread bowls. Service is simple and acceptable and environment is simple and comfy.

The sandwiches were excellent, the Lomo Saltado Sandwich was really tasty and the meat had lots of flavor. The bread was fresh and all the ingredients were delicious. The fried yuca was fantastic and the spice sauce that was served with the sandwich was great too! An overall great experience ordering food to go. Nicely packed and arrived still hot.

Stumbled upon this spot in yelp and found out it was on guy fieris show so u had to try it out!!! I had the pork sandwich with the onions and aweet potato! Bread was homemade you can tell and the pork was cooked perfectly! It was a welll made sandwhich and everything worked perfectly! Need to go back and try more stuff, peruvian food is amazing!

The Chicharron sandwich is AMAZING!!! So freaking delicious!!! The chef was wonderful in recommending the sandwich and asking how would I like it and just really making it a personal experience. It's a small walk in order at the counter place. I got the spicy sauce on the side and wish I had more because it was just so freaking good on this sandwich! I live in Tampa area, but if I was closer, I would be here at least twice a week

It was just a typical sandwich, I don't see why the place is so popular or highly rated. The guy is super nice, service is good, the place is clean. Just the food is good but nothing special. Would I go again? Probably not, it was just fine, nothing to die for.

That's what you come here for. One of my top 10 favorite places in the whole country. Their Butifarra and aji de gallina are so delicious. Rocoto sauce is delicious. Grab a beer. Grab a sandwich. Get your kid some chicha morado.

The J28 Sandwich Bar...#100 TripleD stop for us....Covid tried to mess it up but we got it to go (pickup and delivery only for now) ...it was awesome! Beef Empanadas were tops! The Mushroom Saltada Wok Stir Fry and the Lomo Saltado Beef Wok Stir Fry were amazing! We can't wait to get back there when we can take a seat inside and really get to meet you guys!!

Great spot! Everything is made in-house, including their delicious buns. The owner is super friendly, and goes out of his way to make sure that you have a positive experience. Some of my favorite items are the Aji de Gallina sandwich and bowl, and the Chicharrom/Pork Belly sandwich but I am sure everything they make is equally delicious The pork belly sandwich has some beautiful contrasting flavours and texture, crispy pork belly, soft and sweet potoato, bright red onions The Aji amarillo is super saucy shredded chicken which goes great in a sandwich, but I loooove the sauce so I prefer it in a bowl where I can smother the rice in it.

Wowwwwww! This place blew us away. Place is clean, the owner and the chef were super nice and friendly. We had the beef empanadas, 12 spice chicken and the infamous chicHaron sandwich. The chicken sandwich was so flavorful and well spiced. The chicharron sandwich did not disappoint. Pork was super tender and the pickled onions went great with it. Overall everything was exceptional!!

Came here to get the sandwiches (chicharron and lomo saltado). Let me just say this place exceeded my expectations. After hearing how folks preferred the sandwiches over the bowls, I opted for the bowls options. The chicharron was so good. They have this spread on the bread (mayo maybe?) and then put some fatty deep fried pork in the sandwiches and then add some pickled onions. MMMM the acidity of the onions with the fattiness of the pork worked in harmony. Had I just ate the pork without the onions, it would've felt extremely fatty and a little blind, but the onions and the spread complemented it so well. And the sandwich around it was just the perfect medium, it didn't let anything fall out, let you take a big bite still. The lomo saltado (which is beef) was a bit harder to eat with the sandwich. When I put the beef into the sandwich with the sauce, it just started dripping. I thought the sauce was great, but this one I might've eaten in a bowl instead (I don't think the sandwich added much here)

Very curious how a "sandwich bar" could warrant a solid five stars with 500+ reviews, I was happy to come here recently with three other hungry coworkers. Thankfully, we're the sharing kind so ordered a plethora of dishes to split. It's a small shop with counter service and some tables crammed both inside and outside. Really nothing to write home about, so you know the food must be something special! We tried the beef empanadas, butifarra cold sandwich, aji de gallina (chicken stew) with bread on the side, a lomo saltado rice bowl, and a chicharron rice bowl. On the side, we got papa a la huancaina and fried yucca. All of it was packed with distinct flavors and I especially enjoyed them amped up with a little hot sauce. If I was coming alone and didn't have the pleasure of company to share it with, I would opt for the chicharron rice bowl and a beef empanada, as those were my favorites, but I really don't think you can go wrong. If I could sneak in a little papa a la huancaina on the side I'd do it, as the sauce was stellar. To sip, I tried the lucuma smoothie (with water) purely out of curiosity. Lucuma has such a distinct flavor, it's really hard to describe. It's sort of nutty, kind of like a sweet potato too, but sweeter? Try it if you're feeling adventurous! Service was super friendly and they'll definitely help walk you through the menu if you're unsure of what to order. I'll definitely swing by the next time I'm in Hollywood!

I was around the Hollywood area today with my boyfriend and he suggested this place because he said they have the best Peruvian sandwiches. We stopped there around noon and it was empty so perfect timing for us! We ordered the Beef Empanada (which I love it was baked and it had some little sugar on top just like in Peru). We also got a Pan con Chicharrón and I got the Mushroom Saltado, which is like a Lomo Saltado but with mushrooms instead of Steak. So they have most of the main dishes from its menu with the option of having it as a sandwich or with rice or quinoa as a platter which I love the idea. So if you ever go, please always get it as a sandwich because the bread is made right there every day fresh! I also ordered a Chicha Morada which was delicious and my boyfriend a Pilsen Beer. My order as a Saltado came with French fries and the most beautiful piece of bread for you to fill out as you want. The food and service were amazing! 100% recommended!

Normally I've had nothing but great experiences with J28, specifically the mushroom saltado bowl. Today I got it as usual and regret to inform all that there was a literal rock in my food. A whole pebble was in my bowl and I bit down on it and am at a loss for words on how this could even be possible and will be looking into the next steps as my tooth and mouth hurt immensely from this unforeseen hard object being bitten by me. Very unfortunate

Good place for lunch or delivery / takeout. Can't go wrong with their lomo saltado bowl with French fries. Have not tried any other dish, but I'm happy with that one every time I go.

We stopped by on our way to Ft. Lauderdale airport before flying home. The Yelp reviews and menu definitely enticed us to give it a try! My fiancé and I tried two different bowls, the lomo saltado and chicharron with fries added. The meat in both bowls were so flavorful and tender! My only complaint was that the rice seemed to be a little dry and we didn't have enough sauce (we did carryout). But I would definitely come back the next time I'm around!

Food was amazing, I ordered a lomo saltado order was made fast. Great place to go to for a hot lunch.
