Jacalito Taqueria Mexicana Review - Little Havana - Miami - The Infatuation

"Jacalito is a casual Mexican restaurant in Little Havana. They have outdoor seating, margaritas, and Mexican dishes like queso fundido, tostadas, gorditas, and tacos. It's one of the better Mexican spots you'll find in Miami and the food here is simple but delicious. Also, the horchata game is very strong. My recent visit to Jacalito #2 in Little Havana was a truly enjoyable experience, offering authentic Mexican flavors in a charming, small establishment! This place is a fantastic find for delicious and affordable Mexican cuisine. The food was genuinely good, and the prices were even better, offering excellent value. I particularly loved the tacos; the pork tacos were outstanding, easily the best I tried, packed with flavor. What truly surprised me were the refried beans – I usually avoid them, but here, they were absolutely delicious, perfectly done, and I could honestly eat them all day! The rice was also perfectly cooked, complementing the dishes beautifully. I also heard great things about their lunch bowl with carne asada, which sounds incredibly satisfying. The shrimp tacos were also a good choice, fresh and tasty. Beyond the fantastic food, the atmosphere has a great vibe. On one occasion, they even had a DJ, which added a fun and lively show to the dining experience, creating the right kind of energy. The staff provided good service, ensuring my meal was satisfying. It’s a nice, small spot with both indoor and outdoor seating options, making it versatile for different preferences. Jacalito #2 is a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Mexican food in Little Havana. Despite being a smaller establishment, it delivers big on taste and value. I highly recommend stopping by for their delicious tacos, incredible refried beans, and the overall good vibes. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

This place has two locations the other one is good but this one sucks. Bad service, asked for water like 5 times. Mind you we were the only people in the restaurant. Understaffed only one person doing everything in the restaurant and he's super slow. Food was cold. Went during the Wednesday special and happy hour but had to argue the final price because we didn't "ask for the special" worst experience and we won't be back. This place charges way too much to not be on point with food and service.

Google
Had the shrimp tacos. They were good. Different tortilla would've been better. I'm use to thinner flour home made type.

Google
Good food and even better prices. The tacos were good with the pork being the best. The refried beans were delicious. And this is coming from someone who hates refried beans ! I could eat these all day.The rice was perfectly done as well

Nice small establishment. Located at the corner of a small shopping center. Parking is extremely limited due to multiple business at the shopping center. They have outdoor seating which is on the walkway to other business, about 3 tables. Inside seating available, also about 5 tables. There's counter seating also available. Pricing is good $$. There's a lunch menu available, so make sure to ask for that menu which isn't provided unless you all for the lunch specials ($10.95). I arrived during early lunch time and it was empty with one waitress to attend. Service was good and the tacos and lunch bowl (carne asada, lettuce, rice, shredded cheese, pico de gallo y avocado dip) was satisfying. Overall, not a bad experience. Additionally, they restaurant purchased a new location, two business over, with an exclusive, small parking lot, but it's currently closed due to construction issues.

Google
Never have I gone to a real authentic Mexican restaurant where the waitress never wrote down anything and kept responding the wrong items. MICHELADA WITH NO ICE. THE TACOS, with no sauces and if you don't order an entire order, they can't make you the taco you want. Bad experience

Google
Amazing tacos and quesadillas. The staff were super nice also. The salsa was really good also. I’ll definitely be back! Thanks so much

Google
Great place to have a nice, quick but extremely delicious meal called "Pollo a La Basura with superb quality service excellence from the waitress. Thank you very much Marisel.

Yelp
Legit Mexican tacos! This isn't Tex-Mex crap, if you want authentic food then this is the spot. The waitresses are always very friendly, there aren't a whole lot of tables but there's enough and they're always clean. They also have one table outside if you want to bring your furry friend. Parking is a bit tight, they share the lot with the other tenants. I've tried almost everything on the menu, and everything was delicious for me. Catch me here once a week!

Yelp
If you want authentic Mexican tacos, this is it. The steak and the chorizo tacos are the best. There's several locations and the quality definitely varies. We prefer the one off of 27th Ave. a block over from Flagler. Service is great And if you go on Wednesdays, tacos are just two dollars. Wednesday taco night!

Yelp
Talk about authentic Mexican food?! This is a quick fix for any given day of the week! Can't ever go wrong with tacos. The quality of food is great and fresh! Prices are reasonable as well.

Yelp
Terrible and incompetent service for a pick up order. Thankfully I'm being refunded by Door Dash. For some reason, cotija cheese has a very strong and off putting flavor to me; it ruins every dish it's on for me. Even if I scrape it off, the flavor lingers. When I looked up the India enchiladas, the menus didn't list cotija cheese, so I ordered it as is. When I picked up the food, I checked it once I was in my car and realized it was smothered in cotija. I went back inside and explained the situation, asking if they could please remake the order without cotija. The woman rudely exclaimed, "I'm not gonna do that - the kitchen's closed." I even showed her the description on Door Dash. Then I asked if she could at least refund me. She then picked up the phone and started taking a multi-item order over the phone. When she got off, I said, "So you're taking orders then? Can you please fix this for me?" So finally she did, no apology (whatever - the least of my worries at this point). So then after getting the new order and driving home, I see there's no jack cheese inside the enchilada. I had explained to her everything else was fine to keep - just keep the cotija off. So yeah, food was ruined the second time around AND I received really rude service. Won't be going back here.

Yelp
No seasoning on any of the meats. Meat to rice/bean ratio is ridiculous. One of the worst Mexican foods tasted yet.

Yelp
It is good the food but I feel it is a little expensive. The customer service is quiet.

Yelp
This spot is legit! Very good tacos and pretty authentic. I can only speak to the tacos as it's all I order. I've gotten the al pastor, steak, chicken, chorizo, and conchinita pibil. All of them very flavorful and tasty. Three tacos per order and I can say it's a filling meal for $8. The chips and guac are really good. But my favorite thing is the salsas, they have a green and red salsa that are spicy and busting with flavor. I always get a larger side (off the menu) so I can take some home. Do beware of the small side orders though, can be much smaller than expecting. I've been to the Flagler location multiple times, I mean nothings better than the OG but this place is pretty good. It use to be really difficult ordering because no one there really spoke English, so I'm glad they have someone now so I can make any alterations and ensure it'll be done correctly lol. All in all I def recommend this place.

Yelp
WORST MEXICAN FOOD. Bland, no flavor, low quality ingredients. I suspect most of the reviews are fake. Order at your own risk. Look at the food, does that look like quesadilla to you?
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to other jacalito location and this one many of times. Once again, they do not disappoint. If you want just good, simple, true to ingredients, and fair pricing Mexican food this is your spot. There's no need to go to wynwood and pay $20 for a single pibil taco not properly executed when we have jacalito in our neighborhood. I also will add the service at this location is consistently slightly better than the rest.

Yelp
When I walked in I wanted to turn around and leave. The taste in decorations needs improvement. The place looks run down. I was scared to stay and eat but decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. I am so glad I did! They serve you tortilla chips with a red sauce on the side as you sit down. If you do not eat spicy foods, do not try the sauce, it was too spicy for me. The breakfast comes with a coffee, A plus for me. My husband ordered the Mexican breakfast and I had the Chelaquile (don't know how to spell it) I had it with fried eggs. Both breakfast came with the refried beans. It was all amazingly tasteful and delicious!! I will definitely come again. This come to show you that you cannot judge a book by its cover! *************Went again and as usual! Delicious! Still no English speakers, a long wait for the food but well worth it!! A must go!! I will go again to try the dinner menu! Oh, yeah Nobody speaks english

Yelp
Super clean, the food was fresh and delicious!!! The taco bowl it's too die for, the guacamole it's on point. Gizela had great customer service, very attentive, definitely a must place to visit. BTW it's almost hidden.

Yelp
I never write reviews but this place deserves it ! The service was bad, we had to wait almost an out just for one burrito! You would think with that amount of time it would be good and it was really bland ! If you want good Mexican food go to taqueria los chilangos! Or Hijole Taqueria! Please don't waste your time nor money coming here !

Yelp
We loved it! We had steak tacos and fajitas oaxaquenas and both were great. Service was fantastic too. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
My date and I were craving Mexican. We found this Mexican joint on 27th Ave. The very cozy vibe, and decor. We ordered nachos for appetizers, chilanga, and gorditas. Fabulous Mexican restaurant.

Yelp
The lamb taco is out of this world. Just keep in mind the ambience and service at this location aren't as good as at #1, about ten blocks west on Flagler, so if you have the option maybe consider going there instead.

Yelp
Really good spicy salsa! Had their specialty dish which was roasted veggies including zucchini, peppers, onions, with really juicy delicious steak! Their refried black beans were surprising REALLY good they put some kind of seasoning to make it delicious. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Ordered this the other night while working the night shift at a near by hospital. Food came in a timely manner and me and my coworker were very impressed! I had the enchiladas which comes with 3 decent sized pieces and you can choose between chicken, beef, vegetable or cheese. It also came with a side of rice and beans!
google avatar

Yelp
Horrible tacos! The chicken tacos were dry. The chicken tasted over season and if reheated. The chicken was so dry. The cheese dip is made with mozzarella instead of the traditional central American cheese. Very very very greasy. My pork tacos were so greasy I could not eat it. At the end of the meal I felt that I swallowed spoon fulls of grease! !! Never again.

Yelp
Food is delicious. Great Mexican food and the place is really clean. The owner Walter was very helpful.

Yelp
Ordered thru uber eats. Had beef enchiladas with red sauce and rice and beans. Corn tortillas held up well considering it was delivered. Topped with cheese, onions and cilantro (wasnt expecting the cilantro). But tasty anyway! Beef was not ground beef, rather diced beef chunks. Still good though.

Yelp
I love getting Mexican food from this little place. It's so close to home and the food is always good! It's a local hole in the wall so don't expect luxury treatment but the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The food comes in big portions so expect to get full. The price is also very satisfying.

Yelp
Came here today from a recommendation from a friend, and was disappointed. We ordered the al pastor and chorizo tacos, nachos, and guacamole. The nachos were just stale chips with refried beans in a can with pre shredded packaged cheese (and very little cheese as well). We recently went to Mexico City, and I can tell you that this is not authentic Mexican. The guacamole was good, but that was about it. To top it off, the margaritas weren't even freshly made. It was just made from Jose Cuervo mix. The only good thing aside from the guacamole was the price. I will not come back to this place. Would rather fly over to Mexico again for some authentic al pastor tacos.

Bruno D.

Yelp
Bad service. They charge you $1.75 for the smallest side of pico. Plus the tacos were all soggy and cold. What a shame . Not ordering from here anymore.

Yelp
Amazing!! Very authentic Mexican food! We had the chicken, al pastor, lamb tacos and the combination for one... Everything was so tasty.

Yelp
I'm here on memorial day weekend with friends and the waitress advertised margaritas and served non-alcoholic beverage and still wanted us to pay the original price...
google avatar

Yelp
Great Mexican food. Amazing service, Cecia was super nice, she suggested La torta de Milanesa and it was beyond of what i expected. I would come back in a heart beat. I highly recommended. Very clean and good environment.

Kim V.

Yelp
The service was unbelievably slow. Two groups of people came in after us and were served before us. Not sure if it was because we were the only gringos in the place. Food was ok.

Yelp
This place is a hole in the wall that I would have never thought of visiting. However took my chances and am happy I did. Best taco place I've been to in a while. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I made a yelp account to review this place cause it's just too good. Everything I've tried there has been great except for the chorizo nachos which were EXCELLENT. The BEST nachos I have ever eaten... wait no: the best new thing I've eaten so far this year, period. The waiter is always this super sweet Cuban boy who's name I don't know but he is awesome, super helpful.

Yelp
Went to this restaurant for our cinco de mayo lunch, we usually go to the original location but becauSe it was cinco de mayo we had to leave and decided to try out the new location. First off we walk in to someone on a ladder doing electrical work, ok no problem. Except he gets off and starts helping our waitress who had no idea what was going on. They brought us old tortilla chips so we asked for new ones. Then we ordered some appetizers the queso fundido with chorizo was excellent but the tamales de pollo y Puerco were old. Next we ordered 3 different orders of 3 tacos so we expected 3 baskets with 3 tacos each, no. They brought us all the tacos mixed up one basket had 2 tacos and one had 4. Is that really so hard ? Any way the tacos were good nothing great. Definitely won't be coming back to this location. The original is the best

Yelp
Awesome food! We had been searching for some real time Mex and found it. You can't just go once because there's so much to try. Fantastic service and you can't beat the price. The place is small but don't let it fool you it's worth it!

Antonio F.

Yelp
First i always try to look into the kitchen, the cook handling food right after he walked in without washing his hands and the assistant cleaning the floors. Just imagine .
