We had a private party the day after our wedding for our friends and family. It ended up being the perfect day for everyone! The staff were so helpful and friendly and everyone could tell they wanted us to enjoy the day(big shout to Eddie and the team). The food was great and staff kept an eye on everything for us so there was always plenty out for everyone to eat…not to mention it was all delicious. Everyone agreed that the private bar and patio was the perfect spot. We will definitely be back!!

We sat outside on the awesome patio. Several TVs so we could watch the Bears game. Pizza and appetizers were delicious. Pretty good Bloody Mary as well. Was a great place to enjoy a game outside on a nice fall day.

I went here for an early dinner. The staff is super attentive & friendly. The food is delicious but a little on the expensive side. I had the Jack Burger, and It was good, but not $16 good. It was a great experience over all.

Food was fine, atmosphere was cool, service was nonexistent. Guy came to our table on his own 1 time, the other 2x he came was because one of us tracked him down. Certain drinks were ordered and never delivered and we asked if the hummus was dairy free due to allergies and he said he'd find out and then just never came back and put in the hummus order anyways. Then there was an automatic 20% tip on the bill for a party of 3, which is ridiculous. Will not be returning.

I always enjoy going to Jack & Ginger’s! Friendly bar staff and great atmosphere. Their patio is awesome in the warmer months. I love the chicken nachos!!

Been here many times over the years. I love the grilled chicken breast sandwich with mozzarella cheese and fries.

Can't recommend Jack & Ginger's enough for your private party. We were there for a birthday party on New Year's Eve and had a great time. Emilia and Beto did such a great job to ensure we had a smooth and memorable night. The sliders, wings, and pizza were very good.

The food is delicious, but the establishment is not. The waitress, Honey Badger, never said hi or smiled at us. She gave us dirty cups, dirty looks, and often rolled her eyes. I had to go to the bar myself to get clean cups. There are signs in the restaurant everywhere about different daily specials, but our waitress looked like me like I was stupid when I brought them up.

Don't come here, my boyfriend and his brother came for dinner. Their food was cold and they complained, got their food warmed up instead of freshly made food which is okay but that's not how things are done at the restaurant I work at.. and then the server put gratuity on the check which was for a table of two people.

Found this bar on our way to look for deep dish pizza. Unfortunately they did not have any on the menu. We ordered chicken wings (jumbo) in buffalo sauce which were excellent and two American pizzas. The pizzas took more than 45 minutes to arrive and one was so overcooked it was hard not even crispy. Ambience was mid since all of their stools needed to probably be replaced or refurbished. I would go again just for their wings.

Came here for a bears game with our dog. Service was great. Fries were great. Dog was happy. :)

I'm Jake, I have a Dilemma I had recently escaped from the local mental institution and went to a real Social Downtown.I met a girl named Cleo outside and we ended up there taking shots just Down the Hatch. We both fell Off the Wagon that day. As we worked our way down the Chicago streets I totally feel in love with this Fatso. We Stumbled Inn to Jack N Gingers. A great neighborhood pub with a cool Gin Mill and some bomb ass food. We were 3 Sheets to the wind and I don't remember much but passing out. We got up, skullcrushed from the night before. We needed some Hair of the Dog and low and behold we're both now Mr and Mrs Fatso's. Apparently we got married last night. Love The Cowboy

This place was the bar bar and the most fun I had in Chicago. Lupe Is the shit, Great place to watch sports, and can't wait to rent out the sick private event space

Great place to have a drink and some food. Plenty of space for large groups both indoors and out. There's a large outdoor patio as well as a private party room upstairs that can hold about 30-50 people and a nice outside patio adjacent to private room and first level. The staff are really nice and supportive.

For a Saturday afternoon champion soccer game with a full house, you should have more than 1 waitress serving the entire establishment (indoors and outdoors). Do better. Stop being cheap. If you can charge $14 for cheese curds, you can spend money to have good service.

We threw a party in the private bar area above the outdoor space. The staff was amazing, especially Amelia who took care of us. They made accommodated having kids there easily. The food was great! We even brought in our own birthday cake and they still carried it out for us. Love this place!

Just a simple neighborhood bar, but my bf and I really enjoyed our salad, chicken tenders and beers on their patio. Service was a bit slow since there was only one server for the entire patio, but we didn't really mind as we've been in the industry and know how that goes

I've only been to Jack and Ginger's one time, but first impressions are important! Absolutely fantastic service and such a neat atmosphere, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. There's a patio that lets you enjoy food and drinks outside when the weather is nice, and the lights inside make the whole place feel festive. The food menu is pretty vast and there's a lot of good options for everyone, even the pickier eaters. Drink prices are a bit high but for the area, pretty standard. I'll definitely be coming back here again soon!

3 stars for the ambience & pizza. I love their buffalo chicken pizza and the meatball one is amazing. I wish they had better cocktails & wine list. The wines are atrocious. I've tried a few & they are literally nasty. They need a better selection. Ceaser salad is weakkk at least include a few fresh tomatoes or option for avocado with some good cheese ! Not hard to dress up a ceaser. A weekly cocktail special or drink special would be great especially with fall around the corner !

I recently hosted a party at jack and gingers for my graduation. I used the upstairs room and it was absolutely perfect. The team was responsive in planning for the day, the food exceeded expectations, and the staff were very attentive. My guests continued to say that they were impressed by the food and that the space was ideal. I highly recommend this space for a birthday, graduation, or other event.

Props to the crew @ Jack and Ginger's. The bartender knew how to make drinks the right way. Also, he was cool enough to change the tv to the Sox game (yes it's a depressing season, but watching them play beats watching the Cubs...). The bar has a nice large patio, and the windows open to Armitage as well. The food looked delicious, so I'm going to have to go back for some grub.

Reviewing based on experience with them to host an event for a small group. But we also ate and drank (so I'll have plenty of relevant content). We needed a bar to just allow a group of 30 to have standing room, maybe some tables, and just know we could gather there. I called 50 places, and my only options were $2k+ event packages. J&Gs were totally laid back, just let us set up a space in the back, and trusted that we would be spending plenty on food and drink. I was so impressed with the flexibility and understanding. The space itself is a great patio, huge and cozy/enclosed. The inside is cute, has large windows to the outside, and is spacious. Drinks were standard, and food was above average. We tried pretty much everything, and I'd suggest the meatball pizza, chicken fingers, and just fries. Bar food for sure, but all came out quickly and was tasty. Much appreciated service from them! I'll be back again in the future.

Here on the Bucktown garden walk we find ourselves needing refreshment. Jack and Ginger's was perfectly located and has a very cute pleasant garden, with an upbeat pop soundtrack and Cubs games on the TV. So far so good. The menu has plenty of pub food favorites like half pound burgers and a fried chicken sandwich, nachos, and 14 inch pizzas. I had a perfectly excellent blue cheese burger and with a little negotiation got it cooked medium rare. OK so what's the problem? One waitress for the entire patio of 15 big tables is just unfair to her and everybody else. So everything went at a "leisurely" pace, hence four instead of five stars. But it's still an excellent place if it is convenient to whereever you are.

We stumbled upon this place because our original restaurant choice was in the process of turning over for dinner. They recommended we try this place out and it was awesome! We sat at the bar and on Saturdays and Sundays they do $4 Mimosa's. I had 2 cause it was delicious! For my meal I went with the Sammy Burger and fries. Burger was cooked well and I liked the seasoning of the fries. It looked like a cute neighborhood bar, service was great, affordable, tons of tvs, and a nice place to catch up with friends. Although we did notice quite a few people it looked like we're on First dates. :) Good for that too if your going the casual route.

I had my birthday party here and they did a pretty lousy job. I've been going here every now and again since my last review in 2013 and the service was much better than the experience I had with that terrible waitress the first time I went here. Issue #1 - I got there and we only had 2 tables when the contract I signed with Eat, Drink and Be Merry (the company that handles their party reservations) was for 3 tables. I went up and asked a bartender (because we had no idea who to talk to) why I only had 2 tables. She said that Eat, Drink and Be Merry doesn't know the layout of the bar with a bad attitude as if I was somehow supposed to know that. She also explained that since the 2 tables were big we could still fit the same amount of people at the 2 tables as the 3 imaginary tables that Eat, Drink and Be Merry said we would have, which is fine. But she could have said it politely since I asked her politely. She also said that my contract had been changed to be for the wristbands rather than a la carte 2 days before the party, which was true, but I don't see what that had to do with the number of tables. She just wanted to gripe about that for some reason. Some of my guests were already there when I arrived and nobody had really explained anything to them. Issue #2 - We did the wristband deal and they demanded cash only, but...THEY DON'T HAVE AN ATM!!! That doesn't make any sense. They told us there's an ATM across the street (which was under construction, torn up, dirty and dusty) and at the PNC bank 2 blocks away. We didn't want to have to cross Armitage and likely pay an exorbitant fee for whatever random rinky dink bank ATM they have there. Issue #3 - We had a server...sort of with really slow service. We had to order our drinks at the bar to get them relatively quickly. People were able to order food at the table. After the initial confusion and lack of professionalism, things went fine. The place is big and we ended up with more than enough space for everyone. My guests said the food was good but I didn't eat there. Service at the bar was decent. It ended up being fairly empty later in the night so we got our drinks fast. We had no issues as far as what drinks were included with our wristband. They just need to coordinate better with Eat, Drink and Be Merry and be courteous to their customers. It's not ok to get cranky with customers because that company is giving out bad information when booking parties.

Dogs allowed on the patio. Need I say more?! Food is pretty typical bar food, don't expect fancy service, but that's what you get at most spots like this. Some of the other reviews seem like they had high standards for the type of place. We have had most of their apps and they were all good. I especially like the nachos - big serving with lots of toppings. I recommend coming for the patio (Note: almost always completely in the shade which can be a plus or minus depending who you're asking). Just know that on a nice day it can get crowded!

Came here for the first time for the dog friendly patio and really enjoyed our time. It was incredibly busy but our waitress did a good job despite how busy she was. Pretty standard bar food with reasonable drink prices & good deals. Very nice & clean bathrooms which are always a plus. Will definitely be back.

Pretty underwhelmed to be honest. Wings were alright for being half off, not sure I'd return and pay full price for them though. The cheese fries were bad - soggy and lacking in cheese. I think the fry machine needs to be looked at because all of that work should be automated. Also, for whatever reason, they charged me for ranch even though the menu said it was included with the wings. I do live in Bucktown so I'll probably return to their patio for a drink when it warms up. It is pretty nice out there.

Jack and Ginger's disappoints us. We've lived less than 2 blocks from their location for 8 years, and every time we try it again, it fails to win us over. The food is subpar, the drinks and beers list are boring, and the service / staff are never friendly. We've hosted huge parties on the patio, and each time we were treated more as a burden than as guests. One particular (a few years ago) we rented out the patio private, spent over $1,000 on pre-ordered food, were the only people there, and still had felt no love. The new patio is visually nice. If your only goal is to sit outside in the sun and drink a domestic beer, then J&G's might work. We choose to walk past and go somewhere else

We were here for the women's world cup match a couple weeks ago, for the first time. We sat outside on the large patio and ordered the mimosas and some food. My husband had the buffalo chicken salad (delicious) and our friend had a burger (even more delicious because....burger). My sister and I split some buffalo wings (just okay). They were quite busy but our server (I didn't get her name, but she had shorter blonde hair) was very attentive and checked on us frequently, ensuring our drinks were always full. My only criticism is of the gentleman who was delivering the food. When he brought out our wings, they were plain. We politely let him know there must be a mistake, since we ordered buffalo. He huffed and snapped "are you sure?" We replied "are we sure we ordered buffalo? yes." He again huffed and argued back "Are you sure, because the ticket said plain." We again confirmed, he stomped off. Returned with buffalo wings and 3 sad/soggy celery sticks. He also seemed annoyed by the dogs on the patio and was short with the tables around us. We'll be back for the patio, food and ALL THE DOGS.

The patio is the best part. The spinach salad was also outstanding. Trivia is fun!!! The only reason it didn't get a 5, is because the server was super slow, I had to go to the bartender to order drinks and get water it was that slow. Also, her tone was neutral.

This is my favorite local dive. Every day they have amazing specials (see below). The bartenders and servers are incredibly friendly. In the summer there's a dog friendly patio, they even have two dart boards. Make sure to try the fish tacos - they're delicious and fresh. I always order a side of tater tots (it's enough for three people and only $4). Definitely the best bar within the Bucktown neighborhood by far! My absolute favorite place to go in the neighborhood. They have a great staff, $1.50 taco Tuesday, 1/2 price Pizza on Thursday along with Trivia on Wednesday!! What more do you want from this place?! If you are looking for a bar with reasonably priced drinks, tasty food and a lively environment this is the place!!

This is more for the Iowa game day special, though I'm sure it's still a good place to go on non game days, but this was a great deal for an Iowa bar, possibly the best in Chicago-$2.50 domestic cans, $4 mimosas and bloody marys, $5 ketel one drinks, $1 gourmet sliders, and then the rest of their drink and food men is still available to order from. They have outdoor seating with TVs with sound which was really nice on a nice Saturday. The sliders were all good, I had one of each and probably could have gotten more. Service was good and servers were nice. Nice area, I hope to come back for another Iowa game this season

Friendly neighborhood sports bar. Great staff, cheap prices, daily specials, good food, amazing outdoor patio. They also have a great private event space with a low minimum for private parties.

We don't go there for the food. The food is just there if you need it. This is a drinking bar. A sports bar. A place to hang out after work. Going here to eat will only bring you disappointment. Not that the food is terrible; it's just terribly mediocre

Very cool neighborhood bar sporting great weekday food deals. Despite being located on a busy street, the tucked away outdoor patio makes you feel like you're far from traffic or the problems of your world. I went for taco Tuesday and for only $2.50 the tacos were great value. Can't wait to go back another weeknight and try the other food specials.

Hoping for some food at 11 pm. They claim to serve until 1 am everyday except when they don't. And they weren't so....

Great place to get some late night food. Saw a comedy show at the Cabaret beforehand and one of the comedians joked about not being able to get a mimosa at midnight in a bar. Well you can at this place, in fact it was a special as was the bloody Mary's. I decided I had to get a Bloody Mary. It was spicy and good. Great deal on sliders on Saturday night. I had two cheeseburger sliders and a pulled pork slider. Were they the best sliders I've ever had? No. But did they taste amazing late on a Saturday night and not break the bank? Yes.

Perfect neighborhood bar with a really cool vibe Trivia night's on Wednesday's are always fun- make sure to get there early if you have 5+ people because they don't have many 6tops. I've tried many items on the menu as well and everything has been great- from the margarita pizza to the burgers to the honey habanero wings & tots- you can't go wrong!

Solid food and drink specials every day, and the patio is a great place to hang and listen to a good mix when the weather is nice out. Dogs allowed on the patio. Service can be hit or miss, but if you have nowhere to be and want to relax outside with a drink, this place isn't the worst.

When you talk about great neighborhood places, you don't usually talk about the best niche food in the city. They're known less for their ribs, tacos, or biscuits, more for their people. Sometimes, people are the only thing that differentiates one bar from another. Eddie, Lupe, and BabySpice, I'm looking at you. Jack and Ginger's gets 5 stars in Bucktown, no doubt. I'd also give them 5 stars in Lakeview East, Southport, the Loop, and even Old City, Philadelphia. They don't have to be there to earn it; I've lived in those places and never had a neighborhood place I was happier to visit. Sorry, Race St Cafe. The menu at Jack and Ginger's shows "Jack's Favorite" for some food items. TRUST THEM. The Kevin's Doublestack has been a reliable favorite. Don't look past the pizzas, either. I've yet to be disappointed.

Went here for there supposedly excellent Wednesday night trivia. The trivia host was very annoying compared to the 3 other trivia places I've been to recently-she reads you every single one of the rules like she's talking to a room of third graders, in general talks wayyyyy too much, takes excessively long breaks between rounds, and the audio quality was sub par. But it's not the trivia that deserves one star, it's this bar. First, we got our drinks fairly quickly-then had to wait 30 minutes to even see the waitress again to order our food. After ordering, we had to wait over an hour for the food, and had to ask for water over three times during that hour to finally get it AFTER the food came. Our server was fairly nice about everything, clearly overwhelmed with a situation that was not her fault. Food was lukewarm and entirely unremarkable. To make matters worse, the Bulls-Celtics playoff game 5 was on. Out of 5 TVs in the room we were sitting in, two were for trivia-understandable-but two were playing the Cubs game (early season, not a priority) and they refused to change either of them. I could see people at other tables craning their necks trying to see the single TV showing the playoff game. Advice to management: if your bar is getting busy, MAYBE consider adding some wait staff so every single person in the bar doesn't have to wait ages to ask for little things like silverware, water, etc. Maybe if you had spent some more of your budget on staff and less of it on ugly kitschy signs for your walls, your bar would run better. Oh, and the women's bathroom has a single stall, whereas the men's has 3 spots, so maybe also consider not making your restroom layout sexist.

Solid spot to go for cheap drinks, sports, beer pong in the summer, and conversation with friends. 4 of us came on a Friday evening and even when we told our waitress we were just drinking, we still received great service. You won't find the most unique craft beers here--most of the drafts are domestic and the highlights are Bell's, Lagunitas and Goose Island--but you will find great deals with prices being almost half of what you'd pay in River North for the same beer. I had a few dirty Shirleys and a gin and tonic, both of which were plenty strong. The guys had beers, jack and gingers, and long islands. Plenty of huge TVs to catch whatever games are on. First highlight of the night: After the Bulls and Blackhawks games ended (both with wins!) they put on FRIENDS. Even though we couldn't hear it and there were no captions, Friends always makes me happy. Second highlight: Apparently a Jameson rep was there... So all tables were offered a free Jameson shot. Our waitress was cool enough to take one with us. I'll come back again in the summer to enjoy the patio for sure!

This was an all around terrible establishment. They charge .50 cents for BBQ sauce, which feels wrong. Our Ruben and Caesar salad took over an hour to come out. Our waitress made it seem like our request to have the food boxed up was an unreasonable request(so we could make a show on time). The food came out terrible burnt and completely wrong. There is really nothing special that would draw me back here. Map room is across the street or really anywhere else that has better drink prices and decent food.

Pretty decent joint to swing by with bar food and booze. It seems like everyday there is always a deal of the day. We came in on a Monday and had the chicken wings for 35 cent wings. We had three flavors and they were pretty decent and everything is really decent. No complaints just a decent place and nothing to special and there's always deals throughout the week so that's pretty great.

Came on a Sunday for my own "bloody mary bar crawl" amd this was my first stop Nachos were awesome! Make sure to add a meet. They have there drinks specials listed all through out the bar and they look pretty awesome. $10 pitchers, shot specials daily and .35 cent wings on Monday.

The food was great. The atmosphere was so cute and cozy. They have specials EVERY DAY! BUT, the server was very rude, no customer service, and we just didn't feel welcomed. I'm still debating if I want to give it another shot but only with a different server.

A group of eight of us came here for Taco Tuesday. The service was so embarrassing. Our server ignored half the table, and even forgot an order. It was also such a hassle to close our tab (reminded her three different times). Tacos were what kept the overall rating from being a one star. I would love to return here for a different experience.

Granted, I came here when a cubs play off game was on, but this place was something else. It was completely understaffed; there were 2 waitresses on the patio. One was hardly ever seen. The other quite a B - not friendly at all and clearly irritated by the fact that she had to wait on the entire patio which affected the service. It was a 90 minute wait for food - for burgers, individual, thin crust pizzas, and your typical bar food. The waitress also failed to tell us this after we ordered our food and asked where it was 45 minutes later. It wasn't even good food.

Half off Burgers on Wednesdays are not half off - it's a joke!!! A cheeseburger and fries is regularly $11. But on half-off burger night I was charged $8. It was explained to me by the manager that on half-off burger night they remove the cheese and fries from the cheeseburger and fries, then charge half the full meal price plus charge separately for the cheese and fries. Have you ever heard anything so asinine?

Very on par celery. The wings may not be jumbo, but the cheap price is still worth it.

Just wandered in around 9:30pm after the Map Room and a few other stops, and sat outside, very pleasant patio area. Service slow, they seemed to forget that there was an outside, there were stretches when there were no waiters to be seen anywhere. We weren't in a hurry, so it wasn't too bad, since we were well entertained by the large 20+ very inebriated party group at the tables by the street, there for a special occasion and relatively well-behaved. The food was standard, and good - sliders, pizza, chicken wings, cheese curds, fries with added chili and cheese - I really like that option!

After a beer at The Map Room, we went across the street to Jack & Ginger's for some food and more drinks. Jack & Ginger's is a casual dive bar. The menu is typical bar food - wings, fries, burgers, etc. We ordered "boneless" buffalo wings and onion rings. The boneless wings were just breaded chicken tenders, but both these and the onion rings were good. I wasn't really sure what I wanted to drink, or IF I wanted to drink, so I just asked for water. They were running a special on "vintage" can beers like Rolling Rock, Old Style, and PBR for $2 or $3, so my husband had a Rolling Rock. Meanwhile, I went to the ladies room and there it was: "$5 ROOT BEER FLOATS - root beer liqueur and Pinnacle Whipped Vodka." These were fan-frickin-tastic. When the waitress asked if I wanted another, I said "YES" without any hesitation. It's a simple drink, but there aren't any bullsh*t mixers involved and it doesn't taste like quinine as a result. It tasted just like a root beer float. The only thing that would've made this better is a scoop of ice cream! But why interrupt the booze buzz I've got going? Although if it weren't for this drink, I wouldn't have liked this bar as much. I like Jack & Ginger's for the inexpensive drinks, and the food is just okay. It's not really a destination, so let it be your pre-game or nightcap spot.
