"Steaming bowls of bold flavors are constantly flowing out of Jahunger’s kitchen, where cooks spend hours pulling noodles and filling dumplings before the restaurant opens. The restaurant is owned by Johnson & Wales grad Subat Dilmurat; it serves Uyghur cuisine, from the (mostly Muslim) Turkic ethnic minority group in the Xingjiang autonomous region of northwestern China. Try the Jahunger noodles, topped with stir-fried beef and Sichuan peppercorns, or, if you’re a big fan of extra-spicy food, go for the chicken stew. Made with 15 different spices, the labor-intensive dish is made in limited quantities each day and typically sells out." - Erika Adams, Jenna Pelletier

Highly recommend this place for authentic Uyghur food. I have never had it before and was very curious. I love Sichuan food, but I know it isn’t the same. Small main dining space, but I believe they have more space up stairs. Their menus are really creative and I loved the look. They don’t take reservations so there might be a little wait depending when you come. Their hand pulled noodles are fantastic and so nice and chewy. They also have dishes that aren’t spicy if that is not your thing. I loved their Jahunger noodles. I ordered it as is and it wasn’t very spicy, but very flavorful. It was a comforting dish. I think you can get it spicier though which is what I normally like. Ding Ding noodles were very unique and haven’t had something like it before. The noodles are cut into very small pieces and all the meat and vegetables are also diced very small. The vegetables were lightly cooked so they were still crunchy and had a fresh taste. This wasn’t spicy as well. Lamb dumplings were very succulent and delicious. Maybe a little expensive for the quantity but I enjoyed it. Comes with a unique dipping sauce that was more vinegary than the spicier Chinese chili oil that I’m used to. I don’t typically get a dessert at a restaurant unless that is what they are known for but I would highly recommend the honey cake. It was so good! I also thought the proportions were perfect. I had an appetizer and dessert and didn’t have leftovers, but was just perfectly full and not feeling like I ate too much. I’ll be sure to try some other dishes that are spicier next time I’m in town. Be aware parking can be a little difficult. There is no parking lot and it is all street parking. I recommend finding a side street nearby. I was able to find a spot very close by on Armstrong Ave on a Saturday night.

I went for dinner around 6pm and there was a small wait, perhaps 25 minutes. I had a seat upstairs and it was a pretty chill environment. As for the food, it was pretty solid! I’d suggest getting there early as some dishes sell out as the night goes on. I got the Jahunger noodles, lamb dumplings and the cake. It was a solid meal- although I didn’t particularly think it was anything out of this world, the homemade meal vibe was lovely. I’d wait for a table again, but perhaps not more than 30min. There’s a few benches outside and they’ll call you when a table is ready so you can take a little walk or just wait outside.

First time here, passing through Providence. Food is delicious and seems authentic. The spicy dishes have a good amount of heat and the flavors are well balanced (we ordered 3 pepper chicken and fish village). Hand stretched noodles were really good (I recommend the Jahunger over the Laghman, if you like savory over sweet and sour), meefen noodles had a nice fresh taste (fresh cilantro and green onions with crunchy fried soy beans) the lamb skewers were very well seasoned and extremely tender, fish was also extremely tender and had great flavor. Highly recommend finishing off the meal with the honey cake, which comes with a small scoop of ice cream for just the right amount of sweetness. Of note, the fish village dish is gigantic, definitely enough to feed at least 2 people. We dined on a Tuesday at 7pm and they we already out of the spicy chicken stew and the lamb rice dish, so plan to go early if you want to try those. We'll definitely be back to try those and our favorites from this trip again.

Very nice Uyghur restaurant. I cannot judge the authenticity, as I haven't been to that region, but it's mostly spicy home made fresh pasta based dishes. All we had was delicious and unusually flavoured. The interior is nice and cozy, the service can be a bit quirky.

Google
The meefen(spicy) was very spicy for the average person. The ding ding chao mian was very authentic and delicious and was by far our favorite. Service was really fast and kind! It slayed

Google
Their entire menu was amazing. I got the dumplings for the app, the polo (which was fantastic and reminded me of the Kazakh dish my mom makes called plov) and then we finished off with their honey cake which was super moist and sweet but not overpowering. The flavor of the honey and the frosting between the layers was well balanced and reminded of the medovik cake my family makes around the holidays.

Awesome food! Green beans and scallion cakes were perfect. We also had the Jahunger noodles (not pictured) and the Meefen. Everything was delicious.

Google
It's SUPER DUPER yummy!!!!!! Best Asian food I have ever had in the U.S(Reviewed on October, 2023)! Updates: I went to this restaurant again a couple weeks ago(April, 2024). I got disappointed with the their food and service. FOOD: The Baozi was not fully cooked this time . When I was eating it, I saw some pink meat in it. I called the server over and asked if it is normal to for the meat to be pink (I simply didn't know). The first server came and said she doesn't know and need to ask the kitchen. A moment later, another server came over and said it is normal. I said ok. She then quickly said if I am not satisfied with the food, she can ask the kitchen to cook another serving for us. Her words sounded nice however I could read from her voice as I trying to escalate this situation and making trouble for the restaurant. Before I could even think and respond, she literally GRABBED my plate from me. I responded and explained that I just wasn't sure about if it is normal for lamb to be pink and try to grab the plate back. She said no I will ask the kitchen to cook again. This told me that the food was NOT FULLY cooked. Her reaction definitely looked sketchy to me. If the food was fully cooked, why wouldn't she stand on her ground and have me finish the food? SERVICE: 1. Chopsticks were mismatched and dirty with left-over rice on (I didn't order rice).

Yelp
One of my favorite places to come for dinner. Spicy food, delicious meats, perfectly textured noodles. Seating in an old house, upstairs and downstairs available. Cozy. Must get foods: kevap (smoky, juicy lamb), jahunger noodles (perfectly textured, not spicy), stir fry greens if you want a veggie, Other enjoyable options: samsas (crispy exterior, juicy meaty interior), scallion pancakes (crispy, great for sharing, comes with a dip, scallion flavor not as strong), spicy meefun (must get if you LOVE spicy!), chicken stew (LARGE and spicy portion, so only get when you come with a group, but great potatoes, chicken with bones) Parking: street only, but there are spots available on some of the smaller back streets

Yelp
I think Jahunger is one of the best noodle places in PVD. The jahunger noodles are my favorite - they are so chewy with the *best bite.* And the spice level is always great. You can order this ginormous spicy chicken stew if you're dining in person, which is suppppeerr spicy but so good with rice. The scallion pancakes are a yummy crispy appetizer. The homemade yogurt dessert is pretty good as well! The food really is so good; there is a reason their chef was nominated for a James Beard award in 2023! The vibes are very relaxed. They have booster seats for kids but no high chairs. The service is pretty standard - it can get crowded but they are pretty fast overall. I would say the prices are definitely on the higher side (especially in more recent years) but it's worth the treat for those delicious noodles with the best bite! I love taking people to Jahunger when they're visiting the area!

Yelp
WOW! I recently came back to Jahunger on a Wednesday evening around 6:30pm and our group of 3 were seated right away. It was nice to see their physical menu was revamped and now has pictures of the dishes similar to the ones on their website. We ordered a few dishes to share: Jahunger Noodle, Cold Beef With Cucumber, Lamb On Dry Land, and Spicy Beef Tripe and 3 rice bowls. I don't think I saw the wok dishes on the menu before. If it was there, I probably missed it because I am always drawn to the Jahunger Noodle. Everything came out pretty quickly and tasted delicious. The Jahunger Noodle was as good as always. I love the beef and the texture of the noodles. The Beef Tripe was fried which is completely different from what I had before and it was amazing. The dish had chunks of tender and chewy beef tripe and bell peppers coated with a homemade secret sauce. This was the first dish we finished. The lamb from the Lamb On Dry Land was packed with flavor and I really liked the Uyghur naan bread that was part of the dish. The Cold Beef With Cucumber had pieces of roasted beef tossed with fresh cucumber and a spicy chili sauce. The menu said thinly sliced roasted beef, but these were chunky pieces. Staff were excellent, friendly, and attentive. I had such a great time at Jahunger and all the dishes were phenomenal and a culinary delight.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Jahunger for a while and absolutely regret that it took me this long to check out this restaurant! We were worried it would be busy since it was a Friday night and they didn't take reservations for smaller groups. Thankfully, there was a table available for our group when we arrived! It's a very small restaurant so I suggest coming early. We ordered the scallion pancakes (best scallion pancakes I've ever had!) and the lamb dumplings for our starter (so good and tasty!). I had the Jahunger noodles for my main course and loved it. The noodles were chewy and the perfect texture. Although it was very spicy for me, I loved every bite. Can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu!

Yelp
I'm very happy to have finally tried out Jahunger. Long overdue. Fresh, house made hand pulled noodles, little hole in the wall type place and overall decent service. I got the Jahunger noodle. Since it was my first time here, what better dish to start with- the one named after the restaurant. The good: the noodle was fantastic. Thick, chewy, and unlike any other noodle I've found in Providence. An opportunity for this dish is to bring some more freshness. It's got some deep flavor but it's not particularly complex and there frankly wasn't enough sauce to sop up with those nice thick noodles. Also, there was hardly any beef. A handful of thinly cut beef and that was about it. If I recall, it was $17 and I feel it was worth that but I wish the ratio of ingredients was different. The ding ding noodles my wife got.. Now that dish was a standout. The flavor was absolutely amazing and instead of noodles they were hand cut into little bit sized chunks that still had the same chew as mine. Loved it. The cold chicken was.... Something to skip. It was a plate with 1, read, ONE chicken drumstick topped with an overwhelming amount of raw red onion. The sauce was okay. And the Sichuan seeds were fun for a few bites, but I paid for mainly onion. The bone and the skin should have been removed from the plate prior to serving and there should have been double the meat. Chicken drumsticks are insanely cheap. Giving 4 stars because I like their home made noodles that much and having made this exact type of noodle, I know and appreciate how much work it takes to knead and work such a difficult dough. I could have made some better choices on the sides. I think I'd come back if I was in the mood for a stir fry and a thick chewy noodle. Is it a must visit? If you've never had hand pulled, thick chewy stir fry noodles and don't have the desire to make them at home, absolutely.

Yelp
jahunger is a favorite of my friends, community, and family who visits from out of state. it's unlike any of the other spots in providence. i RISK my gluten intolerance for the hand pulled Jahunger or Laghman noodles but on days where i shouldn't, i love their gluten free meefen noodles with crispy soybeans. i wish they would let you order the meefen noodles with beef, the servers don't let you swap meats. and i wish for that every time but oh well it still tastes amazing. their kabobs and dumplings are also slurpworthy. it's a cute cozy place on wickenden that squeezes more people in than what you could see on the outside.

Yelp
A converted house serving mostly authentic Uyghur and western Chinese fare in tight quarters. Get there early or get in line. Meefen: Thick rice noodles with chili bean paste and celery, along with a choice of protein (I chose chicken). More wet and strongly spicy. I received a sticker for managing to eat it all despite the high spice level. Jahunger Noodles: Ordered once with tofu (can choose from a number of different proteins) and once without, these were faintly coated with condiment and somewhat smoky. Not very spicy, but REALLY nice flavor. Nice chewy texture to the noodles, which had a tagliatelle-meets-udon feel. Long strips of chive added some crunch and herbal punch. This should be a must for any first time visitor. Leek & Egg Dumplings with fresh chives and minced shrimp: Clean, bright, simple, and well done. Nothing noteworthy but a nice, pleasant dish that can serve as a foil to the spice of spiced up as well with the dipping sauce. Ding Ding Noodles: This claims to have "Beef and homemade noodles painstakingly cut in small chunks by hand," and they live up to that claim. No squiggle, no jiggle, and harder to eat with chopsticks, but a nice mouthfeel with the thicker, chewier texture. Hot sauce, not discerned, so flavor lacked oomph, but clean and pleasant, with tender beef. I'd get it again and ask them to make it hotter. Samsa: This pair of savory buns stuffed with tender lamb meat didn't come with dipping sauce, but didn't need any, because it was very juicy and vigorously gamey, offset by some herbal components. A great bite and the runaway hero of the second visit. Scallion Pancake: Pretty ho-hum, light and crispy with mild scallion flavor and way too little dipping sauce. Skip this unless you have a vegetarian to accommodate. Stir Fried String Beans: A little limp, lukewarm, and perked up with dry chile. I liked the spice treatment, light oil, and lack of saltiness (which I do like but try to avoid) and lack of gloppy sludgy texture found in too many renditions elsewhere. All things considered, outstanding food, even with a couple of hiccups. Service was off but well intentioned and friendly; they could probably just use a few more servers. This is destination dining.

Yelp
The Jahunger noodles were AMAZING. I had the kind with tofu and I couldn't get enough!!! The spice is intense so I would definitely take that into consideration when ordering! The portion size was also adequate and didn't left me feeling too full! Highly recommend this place

Yelp
We stopped by for lunch and were immediately drawn to the cozy and charming atmosphere of the store. It's a small space, but it has a warm and welcoming vibe that adds to its appeal. The food we ordered was flavorful and well-prepared, clearly made with quality ingredients. However, the portion sizes were smaller than we expected, and the pricing felt a bit steep considering the amount of food we received. While we enjoyed the experience overall, a better balance between portion size and price would make it even more appealing.

Yelp
A gem! First visit and I expect I was one of many first time diners that have not eaten Uighur food (and New England's first such restaurant). It is Chinese but spices are different. The owners have faced many obstacles (a fire, COVID) but are succeeding. We were there on a Thursday and the place was full and lively and we saw many take out orders. Saw what we expect were many Brown students. Although modest - don't be concerned when you see the space downstairs - there are many tables upstairs. The service was superb, food delicious, and entrees were huge and clearly too cheap (smaller portions or raise prices a bit!). Unless you are super hungry - you might want to skip an appetizer (as noted above - large entrees). See pics for our choices. Damages with tip was $85 but note that $20 went to two sakes. They have a good selection of wines, beers, etc. but no cocktails. Located on busy Wickenden so you may have a bit of a search for parking. RECOMMENDED! Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Value 5/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Noise 3/5 (average Decor 3/5

Yelp
I was really excited to try this from all the hype, but it was just ok. The noodles were not very saucy, some items were very very spicy, and I was just generally underwhelmed. Luckily we did not have to wait on a Sunday night.

Michelle T.

Yelp
We were driving up to Providence to visit a friend and she suggested Jahunger for dinner, as it's got rave reviews and not a lot of places do Uyghur cuisine. We hit a spot of traffic and ended up arriving too late to have a full sit-down dinner. We opted to order ahead online and pick it up, about 30 minutes before they closed. We had: - Leek & Egg Dumplings - The original Meefen - Laghman Noodles - Lamb Dumplings Everything that we had was really good. I loved the dumplings the most, but all the hand-pulled noodles were fab. The flavors were great too - not too spicy but full of flavor.

Yelp
--Location/Parking-- Located east of RISD along the popular Wickenden street with many cute shops and pubs. Parking looks to be street parking. --Ambience-- Cute restaurant with limited number of tables. I sat on the 2nd floor which can manage maybe 7 or 8 parties if well organized. Minimal and modern décor with clean white walls. --Service/Staff-- The staff was friendly and pointed to an all-digital menu, which required internet connection. When I explained my phone ran out of batteries and needed to be charged, they looked confused on what to do as far as ordering. I asked for paper menu, and none were available. I don't mind the upgrade because of COVID, but the staff were not trained on how to handle this situation. Overall the service was great, and the staff was friendly --Food/Products-- I originally wanted the Original Meefen, but they ran out by the afternoon. The Ding Ding noodles were perfection and was not a disappointment. One of the best noodle dishes I had in a while. I also recommend the Stir-Fried String Beans which were crunchy and tasteful. Usually when I order them, it comes out soggy, this was in contrast when I can tell it was fresh from the wok --Capacity-- I sat on the 2nd floor which looks it can handle a party of 7 groups of 2-4 people. I am unsure on the 1st floor seating since it was unavailable during the Saturday afternoon --Overall-- I will be back to try to get their Meefen which is a unicorn for me since it is made in limited numbers.

Alex W.

Yelp
Jahunger is a restaurant I keep coming back to because the food is just so good! I came here with some friends on a Saturday evening around 6pm and we were able to get seating for 6 of us surprisingly easily for a walk-in (usually Jahunger is quite busy!). One thing to note, they will not seat you until the whole party has arrived, so make sure your friends are on time! Jahunger has a pretty intimate atmosphere (the first floor only has a few tables although the second floor has more space), so I have in the past waited for longer times when things are busy. However, the service is usually pretty efficient! We decided to share things family style and got an assortment of the Fish Village, the Polo, Jahunger noodles, the Spicy Tiger, the Laghman noodles, and the three peppers. Some of these dishes are dine-in only, so double check when you're ordering takeout that you can get what you want! With six people, we pretty much just about finished all of the food, so the portion size of ordering an entree per person is about right even when sharing. If you try nothing else at Jahunger, definitely get one of the noodle dishes. The noodles are some of the freshest that I've been able to find in Providence, although pretty much every dish is extremely flavorful and fresh. Another favorite of mine is the Fish Village, but it's not for the faint of heart -- it's quite spicy!

Cara P.

Yelp
First time to Jahunger and it was a solid meal. I thought this was going to be a small restaurant, but it actually has an upstairs that I didn't know about! It is still small with not that many tables, but they turn over quickly, so I'm sure patrons wouldn't have to wait too long to be seated. The service was also satisfactory, our waitress was friendly, and the food came out quickly. I will say, however, that this location was not the cleanliest upon further inspection - there were sauce splatters on the wall next to us, and the bathroom was unpleasant. I went with my husband for an early dinner around 4pm, so it was pretty empty at that time, but it started to fill up as we neared the end of our meal. I ordered the Ding Ding Noodle, my husband ordered the Jahunger Noodle, and we both split the Cold Chicken. I felt very differently about each of these dishes because, yes, they are all unique from one another, but for me, they had varying end results in terms of ratings. I give the Ding Ding Noodle 5 stars all the way! It was so flavorful, had a little bit of heat, and it was just such a comforting bowl of goodness. I loved the cut-up noodles, they were cooked perfectly and retained their chew. I have to give a 4 to the Jahunger Noodle dish. While the noodles are seriously some of the BEST you can find out at a restaurant, I feel as though the dish didn't have enough beef, the portion was a little small, and I expected just a tad more from the flavor. Don't get me wrong, it was a tasty entrée and beautifully presented, but it just left me (and my husband) wanting more out of it. The Cold Chicken was sadly only a 3/5 for me. The chicken was quite tasty, and the Sichuan peppers are always a fun addition, but there were a lot of raw onions, like, more than you would want, and to be presented as a main chicken dish, there wasn't too much chicken in there. It was also plated with the bone so there were a lot of bits that weren't edible. Overall, Jahunger was a sound choice, and I would visit this restaurant again either for dine-in or takeout. It's not at the top of my list, but I would still recommend it for unbeatable noodles and reasonable prices.

Joey L.

Yelp
The portions are so small for the price and super heavy on the spice if the dish is spicy. Noodles itself had amazing texture.

Kevin L.

Yelp
Wow, this place brings the heat! Foods great. Interior feels like a cozy home. Service was a little disappointing, more on that later. On to the food: The cold chicken had the best flavor of any I've ever tasted. The tingle on the lips and mouth are intense. I didn't see any Sichuan peppercorn but they must blend it in the sauce and strain it because it was extra tingly. They also add Thai chili peppers to up the spiciness level. If you like spicy, you will love this! It's not uncomfortably spicy, don't worry. The jahunger noodles on the other hand were not spicy. The noodles are thick and have a really nice chewiness to it. The bottom of the dish is a bit oily though. For service, it felt hard to hail down a waiter. When I was finished, my card got swiped for the table next to me on accident. My waitress also forgot to pack my leftovers the first time I asked. It honestly felt a bit disorganized but the food was good. I'll most likely be back when I'm in providence area.

Andrew K.

Yelp
Serving up Uyghur cuisine, this spot is worth the try. Service was quick and tables turn over quickly so we had no trouble walking in. Started with the lamb dumplings, which are purportedly a favorite. These were fine, the texture of the dumplings were soft and the lamb was flavored with nice juiciness but the dipping sauce could have been a bit more impactful. We chose the Jahunger noodles- their hand pulled noodles with beef. The noodles themselves had a nice crunch but the dish overall is fine from a spot like this. The highlight of the meal was the traditional Meefen noodle dish. The mince beef was flavored excellently with the chili oil and the noodles bathed well in this sauce as well. My only regret is not ordering the "not traditional" version as this is spicier and would have been a bit more of a flavor punch. I could see myself ordering takeout from here again.

Annie R.

Yelp
If you are looking for some hearty and tasty noodles, this is the spot! Be ready to smell all of the cooking going on as well ahah the peppers can really give you a cough but it's part of the experience. We ordered the meefan and jahunger noodles and chicken. Both were yummy! The leek and egg dumplings were also really good! The staff was super nice as well. There's street parking and sometimes that could be rough. But this is def a good spot to try!

Abigail P.

Yelp
It's small but powerful flavors. I love the Jahunger noodles. Hand pulled spicy goodness. The place is always packed with Japanese students so you know it's authentic and delicious. The prices are good but if you have a larger party I'd recommend getting take out because the restaurant is tiny and they will squeeze you in the corner by the window. Amazing spices and flavors and I've been back since as well.

Le B.

Yelp
I want to recommend a dish but you honestly can't go wrong. It's all delicious and perfectly spicy. Service is excellent. Only issue is that it tends to get pretty hot inside...but it's worth being a little warm to eat there.

Dickson L.

Yelp
Cute restaurant in what seems to be a remodeled New England house (as is with most buildings in Providence area near Brown and RISD) with two floors of seating. We came in on a Saturday afternoon with no reservation as a party of 2 and we were the second guests seated at the second floor (the first floor was already super packed). We heard from a friend that the Chicken Stew is their recommendation. Their recommendation was absolutely spot on. It's already rather difficult to come by an Uyghur restaurant let alone one this good and this authentic. We didn't want to stuff ourselves too much at the time as we had the rest of the day to explore the city so we only got the Chicken Stew to share. We were quite lucky as the second floor was completely full in 10 minutes and we overheard the table over that the stew was already sold out (in the middle of the afternoon? On a weekend? Wild.) The stew itself was delicious. The meat from the chicken practically fell right off the bones and had a really balanced flavor. The typical 'jumpy' spicy you get from northwestern Chinese cuisine was on point. The hand pulled noodles had the most wonderful consistency - not too soft yet still very chewy. We should've ordered some white rice to mix with the stew as it does get quite spicy over time - even the water started tasting like sparkling water by the time we were well into the dish. It is a large dish with a very generous portion so with that considered the price is actually very good. It's unfortunate we could only fit just 1 dish as we planned for more eats around the area, but will definitely come back next time we're in town for their other dishes. tldr; order the Chicken Stew. It's really, really spicy but absolutely excellent authentic Uyghur taste. Go early because it seems it sells out quick.

John D.

Yelp
This small space continues to amaze with unique flavors and great homemade noodles. Recently had lamb grilled app with a lamb on dry land stew. Wow!

yang l.

Yelp
I can't believe how many good reviews this place is getting. Let me start with water. Get a filter please. Tap water in restaurant context isn't water from your sink. Then the people work here have a very weird vibe ( now think about it might be the water they drink). We had a kid in tow so we had questions on how spicy their food is. The server was super defensive when we ask simply if there was any lighter version of the food we ordered, with intention to place an extra order. She thought we are sending things back to the kitchen and ready to argue. Lastly, food was really really just mediocre. Uygur cuisine isn't what this kitchen had to present. Not at all.

J C.

Yelp
The food is ok. The noodles were quite oily and the meat over salted. Their beef dish is decent and the dumplings seem to be homemade. For someone who mainly eats Asian food, the quality was acceptable. The customer service was excellent. The place is very small and does not take reservations.

As H.

Yelp
Love the food so much. We have been here so many times but noticed on my most recent visit the portion size has decreased. I added time stamped photos and you can see how much more we received in the past. This is disappointing :(

Raman D.

Yelp
I had been hearing great things about this restaurant from my friend, so I finally decided to give it a try. We arrived around 6:30pm on a Friday night, expecting a long wait but we were seated right away. We ordered the Jahunger noodles with chicken, scallion pancakes (not pictured) and the honey cake for dessert. The noodles had a unique soft but chewy texture similar to the udon noodles, but with its own distinct flavor. The scallion pancakes unfortunately didn't quite live up to our expectations and I wouldn't get it again. Now oh my goodness, the honey cake was DELICIOUS!!!!! It really completed the meal for us.

Tyler D.

Yelp
too many people waiting in the line. it's hard to find a parking spot. The restaurant is a small, but the food was OK. It smells good outside. I hope they can allow us to make a reservation is better for the customer.

Vijay S.

Yelp
This place is definitely popping 6 years later compared to when it initially opened. Food and flavors are the same. Got the kavap and jahunger noodles. The kavap meat was tender and flavorful. Love the texture of the noodles. Def not as tingly as I assumed it would be. Great experience!

Byambadorj B.

Yelp
1 of the best Uyghur restaurant food was delicious quick service very respectful. I would recommend for any body who likes some spicy and asian.

Josenia H.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Everything was flavorful and the servings were a good size. It's definitely a small space but it didn't feel overcrowded. The servers were friendly and the food came out quickly! Will definitely be coming back soon.

Yosaph B.

Yelp
Food was great!! Truly impressed. We got the Jahunger noodles and spicy eggplant and the green beans!

Jenny T.

Yelp
Jahunger is one of my favorite restaurants in Providence! I would recommend ordering family-style so that you can try more of the dishes. Some of my usual orders are the Jahunger noodles, original meefun, spicy tiger, and stir-fried green beans. I have a low spice tolerance, so usually I order a side of rice as well. The food is on the expensive side since the portions are smaller, but the taste definitely justifies it. The restaurant is small, so sometimes there is a wait during peak dinner hours.

Yelp
Slightly disappointed after our visit there over the weekend. Have heard good reviews of the place and had been looking for an opportunity to try this place. I should say the appetizers were really good, but the entrees that followed it were devoid of any flavor or taste. The spice levels were all over, ingredients did not gel with each other and we could not really enjoy it all. I hope this was a one off issue and the chef gets back to his prime form quick enough

Yelp
Such a unique flavor that never disappoints! I've only gotten takeout, and I can say the food travels well

Yelp
Really disappointed, the waitress with glasses had a very bad attitude and was arrogant. She even made a mistake with the table and we were missed. The tip was included in the final fee and there was no choice. The food was served very slowly and there was no service at all.

Yelp
Half of my family were actually from this region. It's not authentic at all!! The big plate chicken is premade and you cannot make any adjustments to it (like the spicy level). Server was rude because when we asked about spice level they were acting like we were crazy. Of course when it's premade and the plate came out 5 minutes of ordering this is what you would get. Dish was too salty with no good flavoring and seasoning. It was pricy and small portions too! Had high expectations for this place because I was craving food from home and was really disappointed. Avoid this place if you want authentic food experience.

Yelp
Great food and service. Lamb skewers are the best item on the menu. Pricey but the only game in town.

Yelp
Had take out last night was told 20 minutes but when I picked up it was apparent from time stamp on bill that my order had been sitting for 15 minutes and was mostly cold. Noodles are great and maintained a nice consistency dispute travel time however overall dishes lack any flavor other than chili oil, and extremely too much oil. Eggplant and peppers were delicious. Had dinner last night, have had over 20 trips to the bathroom since, nuff said

Yelp
We visited Jahunger for the first time hoping there would be seating for 2 for dinner on a Thursday night, but 2 tables were already occupied and someone made a reservation for a large group taking up the rest of the tiny dining area. Luckily, we were able to order for takeout. The Jahunger Noodles with beef was bold and tantalizing! Not too spicy, but rich in flavor. It's similar to but 10 times better than any Lo Mein noodle dish I've ever had and with large, fresh chewy noodles, unlike typical lo mein noodles. I ate every single bite except the dried, rough red peppers. The portion is enough only for one person, so I only shared a few bites with the hubby. I will definitely return to reorder this dish! The fried vegetable potsticker was tasty with the spicy dipping sauce. The inside looked unusually very green and healthy. I will probably pass up on the Ulghur naan next time as it was too bland; it might be good to pair it with soup, though. This is a popular new restaurant. If you plan on dining in during peak hours, I would recommend making a reservation. Otherwise, it's probably better to call ahead of time to order for takeout. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Finding Uyghur cuisine here in Rhode Island was both surprising and welcoming. The restaurant was packed and busy. The food is flavorful and packed with spices. I would recommend the lamb skewers as those are my FAVORITE foods! The noodles and chicken dishes are all super good too but do beware they might be spicy!! I ended my meal with the Not you typical honey cake and omg it's so good! The cake is fluffy the ice cream tastes homemade but everything isn't overwhelming. It's a great way to end your dinner.

Yelp
Fantastic food. One of the best places to eat in Providence. Not fancy but delicious.

Yelp
This place is so good. I literally crave it once a week. They do not take reservations, so make sure you're okay with waiting a bit if you go at a busy time. Trust me, the wait is worth it. Also, there's an upstairs so if you walk in and it looks packed, just know there's additional seating upstairs. I've never waited more than 5-10 mins for a seat. The first time I went, I had the jahunger noodles, which were amazing. We went for my friend's birthday and they're a vegetarian. They got the spicy tiger, which had eggplant and other veggies. I tried a bite and it was delicious. You know this place is good when it caters to both herbivores and carnivores! The last time I went here, my hubby ordered the jahunger noodles because I kept raving about them. I ordered the original meefen. The original meefen was actually better than the jahunger noodles, which I didn't think was possible. The jahunger noodles had less flavor than the first time I had them. We both agreed that the original meefen was better. Since there are so many amazing food places in the area, I try to go to new restaurants all the time. Rarely do I return to the same place over and over again. However, jahunger is the exception. I can't wait to try everything on their menu.

Yelp
Small local Chinese restaurant with authentic Chinese dish and handmade noodles/dumplings. Service was good although busy. We ordered jagunger noodle and original meefen with handmade lamb dumpling. Lamb dumpling was juicy on the inside and chewy on the outside. The noodles were great as they were handmade and hand cut so they are on the thicker side with chewiness. Jahunger noodle was more savory and spicy with sweetness from onions and meefen was oily noodle with green onions, ground beef and nuts. Overall definitely a solid place if you like spicy food and authentic Chinese cuisine. May not be for everyone. Next time I would like to try the lamb skewers and fish dish.

Yelp
this place is delicious!!! their food is very authentic! we got the fish village, lamb kebabs and original meefen. all three dishes were amazing. fish village: beware it is spicy!! it's the kind of spice that numbs your whole lip and mouth lamb kebabs: sooooo delicious, they only limit you to order two orders of it (one order comes with three kebabs) original meefen: dry thick rice noodles with toppings. highly recommend if you love rice noodles. rice is $1 per bowl that you have to order separately.

Yelp
This place is one of a kind. They specialize in Uyghur cuisine which is reminiscent of a mix of middle eastern, south Asian, and Chinese cuisine. The flavors were bold, and I was pleasantly surprised by the spices and heat in the food! The Jahunger noodles were my favorite and a must get if you are visiting. The noodles are coated in a mixture of spices and seasoning with perfectly seared slices of beef, fresh hand made noodles, and plenty of sichuan peppers. The spice was a solid 7/10 and delicious at that. The seating area was nice and cozy and provided the perfect atmosphere for a family dinner or date night. The staff was very friendly and accommodating for our party of 7 on the day after thanksgiving. If you're in town I highly suggest dining in and trying the lamb kebabs as they are meaty and bursting with flavor without needing spice! Highly addictive and will be back when I'm in town. My top 3 recs for your feast: #1 Juhunger noodles #2 Lamb kebabs #3 Scallion pancakes

Yelp
Gotten takeout here many times now and - aside from my first visit (refer below) - it has never disappointed. At this point, I've tried the Original Meefen, Jahunger Noodles, Ding Ding Noodles, Chicken Stew, String Beans, and Shredded Potatoes, which were all fantastic. My go-to's are the Original Meefen and the Jahunger Noodles. Their noodles are made in-house and cooked to the perfect chewiness. All their sauces are unique and all delicious. Good portion sizes that will leave you satisfied but not in a food coma. Hopefully a one-off: My first visit, I got the Uyghur naan and I'm not sure what the deal was but it seemed like they took bread that they made earlier in the day and just microwaved it just before I picked it up. It had that exact type of (bad) toughness/chewiness that you get in pizza crust when you microwave leftovers, and it hardened pretty quickly. Also didn't have any flavor. It's the only thing I wouldn't order again. Overall, awesome food with the best hand-pulled noodles around!

Yelp
Small portions, expensive prices, the entire restaurant is filled with the smell of oil, and there's no place to park.
