Loved this bar. We stopped here on the way to the comedy club to get a drink. Staff was friendly and drinks were insanely good and priced fairly well for being in NYC. They don’t put pricing on their drinks menu but I feel like if they did, they would probably sell more. We assumed drinks were over $20 each and once we got the bill realized it was $14 for each mixed drink.

We went there before the comedy show and only had 26 minutes. We were able to get a steak sandwich and a beer without being late to the show. Brandon is the best bartender, super polite and pays attention to every guest! Thanks 🙏

Planned a visit to the comedy club with some friends - as I arrived early, I randomly walked into Jake’s with my girls and let the rest of the group know. We had some drinks and so did everyone else as they arrived. We attended the show and since we had a good time before the show, we returned to Jake’s. The place was filled and we didn’t have a spot to sit as a group (10), so I asked the bartender (manager) if he would allow us to sit at the tables that were roped off (closed) and he was able to accommodate us. He was the only one bartending and he did a great job! Drinks were flowing, typical bar music was playing, and we had a good time, so much so that we stood till closing and didn’t even realize how fast time flew by. I’ll be visiting NY this weekend again and will be going to a drag show with some friends (14), I’ve already suggested Jake’s to the group and most likely will go there again. Cozy place, with great service, the drinks were great, and everything was fairly priced. Side note: Since he was able to open the area to us, in appreciation and considering that he was alone behind the bar, I used their serving trays and picked up our trash, glasses, and bottles. Thank you guys for being a great hidden gem.

I was pretty bummed about this one. I went in the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday. The bartender was fine, but overall the service was lackluster, as were the drinks. I love a dark, dive bar and was pretty pumped after reading other reviews about Jake's... but it was disappointing. I specifically asked for food recommendations, and the chicken/mango spring rolls were pretty bland, with a sauce that tasted like almost straight mayo and a flavor profile that didn't make sense with mango. The worst thing was the seating...the booth halves on the banquette side of the high tops were awful. Lol. Super cheap and SO uncomfortable. They were tilted very far forward (which doesn't make sense for bars that want their patrons to settle in and stay to eat/drink) and had nearly no padding. Anyway, probably won't return - which sucks because it's a super convenient location for me.

We lucked into finding Jakes after a long day visiting the sites, and walking back to the 1 train to head back up town. The menu is seemingly one of only a hand full we saw in NYC that was remotely affordable food wise. The service we had was very good. I enjoyed the Steak Sandwich, and while I asked for it to be cooked medium it was medium well. Thankfully it was a perfect cut, seasoned well and tasted great as described on the menu. My wife had the Pear Salad without Pistachios (our son is allergic), the salad was a good size and I got to have about 1/2 of it. It was perfectly dressed, and the pear played delightfully off the balsamic very well. My Son had the burger and fries and he called it his new happiness burger. High marks from him as he is a picky eater. The only complaint was the cost of our drinks. 4 pours of Makers Mark on the rocks was over $50, which is nuts when you can buy a .750 for $24 in Baltimore (maybe not in NYC). At least they were fair pours. Next time we will probably skip the drinks (this was a theme of our NYC trip, I don't know why I kept getting alcohol). In summary, Jake's is great, and had good music playing.

Food was mid. Burger was plain beef with lettuce, tomato, and onion, and a bun. That is it. The bun was soggy by midway. Additionally, Have to pay extra $2 for cheese on a burger 😕 waiter asks, would you like cheese or bacon? As if you get the choice of either cheese or bacon, when in reality your paying extra for each topping. My friend order the fish & chips and it had hints of uncooked batter which made the dinner much less pleasant to eat. “High school cafeteria fish & chips were better”. Service was not great. We went @6pm when there was not many people eating dinner in the rest yet and it seemingly felt like it was packed and very busy because the server checked on us 2x. Once to take our orders and the other to collect payment. The other times we had to flag the person down because they were “busy” doing other stuff. Overall not the best experience and cannot recommend this place :(

Great food and drink with variety collection for beer and alcohol a top service. Fresh food, Brandon couldn’t have been nicer to us when we called in …7/10 Yankees and 8:10 Mets MLB…

Decent bar food, that was brought to us very slowly. The tables were clean, and the seats were comfy, but it was a bit sleepy for a weekend.

A small group of friends came by after 11 pm for a quick snack and beers. The staff was so friendly and on top of all our it request. The gentleman taking care of us was from Mexico. He was so awesome and very attentive. Drinks were great, food was good and even other crusty were funny and fun. It was great stopping by. This was the only bar near our hotel with draft beers.

A roasted red pepper steak sandwich was a satisfying pairing to playoff football, although slow service and lack of attention to detail with order instructions stood out in the end. Good ambiance for game day, but not anything nicer.

This is a place catered to the palm colored people. drinks were 1/10 , food was 0/10. in a matter if 15 minutes 90$ were spent. Definitely recommend something with a larger menu, and quality food as ours were so bad we each took 1 bite and asked for the check to leave. go literally anywhere else

We stopped in here to get out of the rain and watch the end of the Oregon game. Nice big screens on the wall. This is kind of a dive with a very mixed crowd. Slow service. Lots of domestic beers. Chicken nachos for $17. It did the trick but nothing remarkable.

great spot to post up after a show at the Gotham Comedy Club, or even come here before a show. Plus, cocktails here around 10-12 bucks. better deal than getting a drink at the comedy club, or to be fair just a great deal in this economy. Can't go wrong with an old fashioned or margarita here

Friendly staff and food is always very good, decent portions and affordable prices. Jimmy is a great host. The place is warm and cozy with holiday decorations.

Staff was friendly. Food was good . atmosphere made me feel welcome. The drinks were well mixed and a nice assortment of beers.

Wonderful place - always stop in when I am in the city. The bar staff is amazing and the owner. Jimmy, is a personable guy who goes out of his way to make everyone feel welcome. I will be returning next time I am in the city!

I can't tell you how much I love this place and how happy I am to have found my "Cheers" bar.. you know, where everybody knows your name?! The owner, Jimmy, is such a great guy who really cares about his customers. He wants everyone to feel welcome and to have a great time. All the staff members I've met are incredibly friendly as well! If you're ever going to a show at Gotham Comedy Club this is two doors down in the perfect spot to hit up right before or after the show for a couple drinks and some delicious food. Typically barfood isn't very impressive but the chef really knows what he's doing. I'm vegan so I ordered the vegan burger which was so delicious and surpassed my expectations. They even make their own vegan aïoli that I could drink from the cup! I don't know how they made a Beyond burger so exceptional (I've had at least 100 by now) but it's clear everything is super fresh and made with love. My friends got a mix of fried apps and said everything was excellent! Can't wait to come back!

Tried the fish and chips, buffalo chicken spring rolls on our first trip. 2nd trip was steak (med. rare) and their Sunday pasta of the day and glass of wine. I don't recommend the fish and chips, batter was soggy, but fish and tarter sauce were good. Buffalo chicken spring rolls were yummy and a different take on rolls. The steak was cooked perfectly, along with our two sides of baked potato and onion rings. Very tasty, I would order that again! The pasta of the days was a penne with chicken in a cream herb sauce...I'm going home to figure that recipe out, delicious! I even used the sauce on my steak (they don't serve horseradish...) and it was soooo good! Long Island iced tea was Uber strong, only needed one!

Terrible service. Totally rude. Not okay I'm the slightest. Chased us down after someone already paid and we were on a tab and was so so so sassy about it and let people join our tab!? Strangers& obviously need some sort of new workflow process.

This is a second location of the original Jake's Saloon. It is a classic pub/Irish bar. Wooden tables, wooden bar top, and bar chairs with backs. Well the last part isn't classic. A stool without a back would have been classic. But the ambiance is exactly as you would expect it. During football/basketball/baseball any sports games really, you'd expect a more rowdy crowd. Beers on taps are standard. The bartender was cordial even on a slow night. Sometimes what you expect of a place is exactly what you came for. In this case, I came for a glass of water but also for a brew. Win.

It's a good vibe, with a solid crowd, nice decor and lots of TVs. I'm knocking off a star because they don't list drink prices on their menu (looking up their website doesn't help, either). We were told that beers are $7.50 and cocktails are $14, but who knows if those prices are arbitrary?!

Such a great spot to bring family and friends! Food is delicious and comes out quick. The staff and owner make you feel welcome the minute you walk in the door. The cocktails and atmosphere are some of the best in the city!

3 stars is about right. Not my favorite, kind of dark and dreary and cocktails are okay. Fine in a bind.

Jakes Saloon Bar is an absolute gem! From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by its charm and welcoming ambiance. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure my experience was top-notch throughout the evening. Jakes will always be THE spot to hang out with my friends!!

I love visiting Jake's Saloon! A great ambience inside and always incredibly friendly & accommodating staff! Great drink selection, with a wide range of beers/cocktails. The food is also great -- we had the steak quesadilla, delicious burgers, mac&cheese bites and the French fries are amazing! Great pub fare & always a good vibe. This is the perfect place to catch up with friends after work or to visit on a Friday/Saturday evening! I definitely recommend stopping in for a drink/apps!

Went to Jake's Saloon last night with a bunch of friends for March Madness and it was exactly what you look for in a sports bar where you can actually move and talk to the people you came with. The owner Jimmy is the nicest bar/restaurant owner I've ever met and made a point to learn all of our names. The food was fantastic bar food, the drinks were strong, and plenty of TVs to watch games - great for happy hour or weekend spot. Food we ordered (all delicious): loaded tots, mac and cheese bites, buffalo spring rolls, and chicken quesadilla.

Tonight was my second time at Jakes Saloon and it was even better than my first, which was great. The staff are super courteous and diligent. I had Jake as my waiter tonight, what a pleasure. Food was great, you must try the wings. Drinks were served cold and to the top....try the Spicy Pear Martini, my wife loved it. Met the proprietor tonight, what a great guy, his name was Jimmy, super talented at keeping you engaged and checking on things, without being intrusive or pushy. Here's to hoping I run into him again on my next trip back. Great Bar!

Love the service, love the food, best wings and seasoned fries you will ever have! First Irish Pub in NYC I've been to that actually feels homey.... Will certainly be back. Met the proprietors of the establishment, what nice humble guys. Slainte.

Jake's is a really fun bar. A good place to have a drink or food before or after going to Gotham Comedy Club. They have a drink menu but the bartenders can make anything you request. The food is delicious and they have a daily food special, which is a bargain! Jimmy, the owner, is there sometimes. He's a great guy to deal with, and a great host.

Fantastic pub atmosphere with a nice selection of beers and cocktails. Great place in the neighborhood to catch a game with friends. Typical pub food, but always delicious and they offer daily specials. A perfect spot to grab some drinks and a bite to eat!

I almost forgot that I had been to this bar once years and years ago I think for a burger and a beer with the ladies. Came back in recently when trying to find a new bar to go to with a friend/date(?) Operative word. But the place kind of has a certain charm to it. The Irish bartender is plenty nice. It's super dark. Not many people. The draft selection is mediocre. If you get any of their house ales don't get the wheat one. It's a terrible lemony rendition of Blue Moon gone slightly bad. But I also don't love Blue Moon. Their house red ale is a lot more palatable but then again their prices aren't amazing and come in around $7-8 these days. When forced to order bar food we went with their jalapeno poppers. I was expecting cream cheese to ooze out and was pleasantly surprised it was at least cheddar. I kind of like the place but it had a 'I'm in my late 40's and have no friends where do I hide myself from the world' kind of vibe.

Myself and the boys were painting New York City red one night, and had this place as a stop. It was a fun little bar! The people that both worked in here, and the patrons were very friendly. Everyone was in a very cheery mood. This is the kind of bar you can go into and easily make friends. The cocktails are tasty and the beer selection is fair. We didn't try any food and just stuck to drinks. The place itself is pretty big. It has a dining area behind the bar. Come the late evening time, it gets pretty dark in there. Drinks are fair priced and not overly priced for Manhattan. Overall; good place to grab a drink and meet some people. I think I'll stop by again next time I'm in town.

Great bar and food is awesome. Reason for the 4 star and not 5 is unless you're 60 years old, the music is awful. Different bartenders have their music, but I watched an entire crowd leave once the music changed from 90s rock to music from the 50/60s. If they change the music to an updated playlist, it would be perfect.

Ordered the lobster ravioli to-go. It was $18 for legit 5 pieces of ravioli (see the attached picture). That comes out $3.60 a ravioli. Seriously?! And they were cold! They tasted ok. Maybe they would have tasted better if they were hot or even warm, but definitely not cold and definitely not worth the $3.60 a ravioli price tag.‍

Food was disgusting, staff was horribly rude. Fight broke out and disrupted the entire evening; staff did nothing to quell. Just awful. One of the worst places anywhere in Manhattan. Avoid it like the plague.

Ok atmosphere if you are looking for a sports bar with tv's in front of you. But that's probably about the best you'll get at this place. Drinks were watered down but the worst was the food. We ordered the flatbread and it tasted like chef boy r dee sauce and the bread was soggy like a wet piece of undercooked dough. The mango and chicken spring rolls were inedible. The chicken quesadillas were barely passable. The chicken was over cooked and tasted like it was at least two weeks old. Why not one star? Well the bartender was nice and it is a sports bar. You shouldn't be going here for the food.

Short version: Mouse turd in my beer. Bartender tried to say it was a piece of lemon. It was not. Longer version: I ordered "Jake's Wheat." The tap ran out. He disappeared and showed up with a different glass several minutes later from someplace in the back. I told him about the floating object. He tried to argue that it was lemon seed. He didn't offer anything on the house, even if he did I would have said no thanks: I was too grossed out

Tremendous place. Benn coming here for 16 years. A stalwart Chelsea institution. Excellent menu, including one of the best burgers in the City.And great fish & chips. Friendly staff keeps the drinks coming. Lots of fun, especially if you sit at the bar! I highly recommend this place

Ive been coming here for years and it continues to impress me. Great staff, friendly and always remember you and strike up a conversation. A lot of tvs so you can always find your game and they have plenty of tables if the bar is full, which is clutch when its a busy night in this city. Food is great, traditional pub food but stepped up a notch and good variety. One of my go to places, love it.

Several locations. I would give a 5 if they sold mozzarella sticks. The burger and onion rings are amazing. When in NY you need to try a burger at an Irish bar. A true Irish Bar!!!

An old standby. Great place to grab a drink or a bite. Fun place to watch football and basketball too.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience here. Now, I don't typically expect much from pubs, but the waiter was incredibly dismissive about every single question I asked about the menu and drink list. I said I needed time to think about it (since my questions weren't really answered in the first place) and he didn't even come back. Very limited menu and unhelpful service. I wouldn't come back here.

Was visiting a friend in NYC for the weekend and we decided to go to Jake's saloon for a quick bite and drink. Gabe, our server, was awesome and so friendly. Will definitely be back

We stopped by here because we wanted to grab something quick before our comedy show at 8 at Gotham theater. Came here I'd say around 6:45. A lot of open tables. Seated right away. Cute inside. They had Halloween decor up which I appreciated. I also really enjoyed the music they were playing. Food was also pretty darn good. The only reason I docked a star was because service wasn't that great. Took a while for someone to come to even take our drink order. We were in kind of a hurry so at that point we put in for our meal too. Took a while to get our drinks (and all I got was a Diet Coke). When we got the bill we had to actually bring it up to the bar to speed up the payment process. Otherwise again ambience and music was excellent. The prices were very decent too. I got a cheeseburger which was delicious and super juicy. The fries were also GREAT! (~15.00) My husband got the wings and said they were very meaty and flavorful (12.00). My friend got the beef chili nachos-12.00- (which i didn't think they were much to write home about but she really enjoyed them and really liked the chili on them) My friend also got a spicy pear martini. I tried a sip and it was delicious! Very tasty and not weak. Besides the service aspect (which wasn't a huge deal to us) we had a great experience and would go back for sure.

Party of two for after work bar night with my baby boy, we ventured nearby to Jake's Saloon for a look - see of their alcohol. For Him: Long Island Ice Tea It was weak according to my friend and from my little imbibe it tasted like grapefruit juice from the acidity. For Her: Cabernet Sauvignon wine It was average but got me very tipsy. A sports bar with eight (8) TV screens. Nice ambiance with nice varnish wood tables without the wobbliness. Obscenely expensive for two drinks totally over $21.00 (with sales tax). No comment on the bar food as I did not consume any. No comment on the facilities as I did not utilize. Customer service was mediocre as they seem to ridicule customers fending a insincere mask to degrade me passing off as rude joke.

Wow. Talk about a shit hole. I've been coming here for three years.. it's sad that when i walk in three years later having to go to the bathroom i was stopped by 5 people. Yes i have to pee and yes i will spend money here. Way to scare away customers. Being stopped like security before you piss if a red flag that maybe this place just doesn't get the business anymore and they are desperate for anyone. So stopping people going to the bathroom is going to make them more money. Go right ahead. But know this. You lost my money and all of my friends who I've been coming here for years. The manager was beyond rude, otherwise i wouldn't have even said anything. Wish i could give a zero star.

Been here more than once and never thought much of this bar. Recently came here for a friends birthday happy hour which was alright. The happy hour specials are your normal specials (11AM-7PM) for happy hour. Drink selection is meh (especially their beer selection). The atmosphere there is more for an older crowd and it was pretty quiet on a Friday night. Nothing too special special about this place but a decent location if in the area and looking for a drink. Bartender was friendly at least......

I came here while waiting for my show at the Gotham Comedy Club. It was a nice bar and the bartender was nice. However, when I ordered my Stella the glass was warm and so was the beer. How disappointing! However, my dates whisky sour was good. Also, the bartender was extremely nice to us. Please have glasses chilled for beers! And check your tap!

I was going to meet a friend for dinner and had to use the ladies room 1st. The bartender, Brendan, was incredibly rude. He followed me back to the ladies room and said that I had to be a customer. I said that I was waiting for a friend. When I walked outside to wait, he said, don't ever come back here again. And I won't. I've met Jake before at a different location and thought that he should know.

2 of our party got a chicken wrap and a chicken sandwich, both got severe food poising. What a horrible experience. We needed a place to eat and just walked in. What a bad choice. There was also only 1 waitress working on a Saturday night so as you can imagine, that person was in a horrible mood and the service was horrendous.

I went in to charge my phone because it was on 1% and I was waiting on a lyft. A server yanked my chord out of the wall and told me I'm rude for not asking. This restaurant was empty besides the bar and I told him I would just be a minute at the table top I was sitting at. I told him that I was having a rough time and my phone was going to die. But he just started asking me questions like what I did for a living? And how would I feel if someone did this to me? Felt like a major overreaction. Bottom line: really aggressive servers here. Stressed me out awful meeting this guy.

I went on a quiet Sunday afternoon with a girlfriend. It was quiet, really quiet. We weren't sure that we wanted that kind of vibe, BUT the staff was SO nice to us so we stayed and were glad we did. We tried Jake's Tricky Ale, which was good, and got some fries. They have good fries, which is SOO important for a bar and just for french fries in general. It's a pretty spacious place, and I'd go back with friends on a busier night, or on a quiet Sunday. =)

Didn't give the right beer. Didn't mention they didn't carry regular corona. Just gave a dark corona. No offer to substitute it or switch it. Horrible service, couldn't be less interested in his job.
