Great service and food. A bit pricey but you can make it more affordable. Two smaller apps were enough for me and cost less than an entree. Pictured is the bang bang shrimp and the clams oreganata, both great.

Highly recommend. Service was on point. A delicious surf and turf dinner. Tender filet mignon and sweet lobster. Both cooked perfectly. Grilled asparagus just right. Appetizer of steamed mussels with garlic wine sauce. Lovely dessert of apple crumb cheesecake. Specialty cocktails - don't miss! Roll me out of here. But happily!

A beautiful jem in the Bronx!.. I/we loved everything about this place. Soon as yu walk in you feel welcomed! Staff presentable and pleasant! The ambiance is beautiful. Family orientated yet romantic! The food was excellent! My steak was cooked to perfection! Our 11yr old enjoyed her Calamari. Service was great!.We definitely coming back!

Did the Sunset Special menu, which gives you an appetizer, main course & dessert from a preset menu. Ordered the mussels in spicy red sauce, as the app. The mussels were practically entry inside. The sauce was good. My wife had the mussels in white wine & here too had nothing in them. Had the short ribs w/ mash potatoes & red cabbage, it was really good. Was celebrating my father’s & brother in law’s birthday & they did these sparkling candles on the dessert & sang happy birthday. Besides the mussels everything was good. Christian was our server & he was fantastic.

The service was excellent from the beginning. Our server Marissa P. Made it a very enjoyable experience. She’s very professional, great personality and knowledgeable. She suggested a few options and was completely satisfied with all the recommendations. I would reserve a table again with Marissa for our next dinner celebration. I was taken to Jake's for my birthday. No other words can describe my experience besides, ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENALLY UNEQUIVOCALLY FANTASTIC! This place is now my all time favorite steak house. From start to finish this was a PHENOMENAL meal. The hostess was extremely polite and friendly, the wait staff was gracious, helpful, and accommodating. The atmosphere is so comfortable and inviting, that you could probably stay there all day and feel right at home! The meal?.... Wedge salad. AWESOME. Fried Calamari. FANTASTIC. Creamed Spinach. TERRIFIC. THIS WAS THE BEST RIBEYE I THINK I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Bone in, tender, 35 day aged, med rare... I had to stop myself when I was full, because I would have kept on eating (it's that good!)... (Note: GET THE FRIZZLED ONIONS!...) Hands down, Jakes is the best steak house in NY. No disrespect to the Bronx, but when inside you forget you're in the Bronx. Across from the park, plenty of parking as well as Valet service! GO TO JAKE'S STEAK HOUSE AS SOON AS YOU CAN! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! A++++? 100000000% YES.

Celebrated a birthday with a prefix menu. Spent about $100 a person. Appetizers were of sharing portion. More than enough food for 8 adults and 2 children. Food was delicious and flavorful.

Fantastic experience, our server teddy was amazing! The only thing better was the food. It came out in a timely manner. Every dish was truly delectable. You can taste the truffle on the macaroni and steak was unmatched for flavor. Teddy did a fantastic job timing the food and guiding our culinary experience. It was amazing!!!

What's the most stars I can give? They deserve them plus 1. From the moment you cross the threshold, you are ushered into some of the finest dining in the Bronx!!! Bread baked by angels...and steak that you can cut with a spoon, but not overcooked, and dissolves without chewing. Yum!!! Amazing service....they read your mind. Enough!!! The food is great and it's been great for years! Classic spot, great service. You can sit at the bar, catch a game and some bites, or do a more classic table cloth dinner. Always happy to visit.

Normally the service is excellent but tonight for some reason it wasn't. We had to stay on the bar level as I am handicapped and can't climb stairs. Which I am surprised they don't have alternative measures. They had no seats upstairs anyway and we had. Reservation. The server that was on the bar level was not the best tonight and I was shocked cause normally it's fantastic the service. The food was amazing as always. This is the second Friday night on the past few months that the service was not good. We will no longer be coming on Friday nights we will have to change the day up.

First time going to this location. Reminded me of a colonial building with the wooden staircases. All the guests were enjoying themselves and having lively conversations when we reached the top floor of the restaurant. Now to the food...I had the mussels marinara it was OK. The marinara did not have any seasoning and the mussels seemed as though they were overcooked. It was hard to get a full mussel in its shell. I thoroughly enjoyed the wedge salad and the onion soup was very good. The brownie was good as well. My sister loved her meal , which was the shrimp scampi and the bread pudding for dessert. Another friend loved the Chilean Seabass, unfortunately she did not like the house salad. She said the leaves were wilted. She enjoyed the cheesecake. We all had the coffee and it was very good, nice and strong.

Decent steakhouse they raised prices rib eye $80 much higher then some of better steakhouses ( Capital grill) ambience ok a little loud Good service friendly staff good for any other meals not as a steakhouse

Great spot with plenty of seating. This place has and upstairs and downstairs. As well as a bar area. Came here a whiel ago for a quick dinner for two. The service was great very attentive. My partner and I got the steak for two and we got a side of veggies as well as an order of shrimp. The shrimp was good. The steak although it was juicy and tender my partner felt the steak wasn't as seasoned as he would have liked it to be. The cocktail was good. I can see this being a great family spot for a group Or an intimate dinner. I would probably go back to try other stuff on the menu.

This place is delicious! My uncle had a t bone steak with creamed spinach and baked potato, I tried the Jake's filet mignon with Mac and cheese, and wifey had marinated skirt steak with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Everything was absolutely delicious!!! It was my first time here and it will not be my last. They have valet parking to ease any parking concerns, because it can be difficult to find parking. The restaurant is very nice, we sat all the way upstairs. I did see they have nice window seating which I hope to experience the next time I go. The service was excellent thanks to Chris our waiter! Chris was very attentive, and so sweet. He found out we were celebrating my birthday and they gave us the dessert "on the house". Which just topped off the whole experience. P.S. Please forgive my pictures the lighting was very dim and I did not want to be rude with a flash so I took the pictures without the flash and just brightened it on my photos.

So we have been here before, and loved it. We felt like keeping it local, and I honestly felt like Lobster Tails. The service was excellent! We started out with drinks. I had the Crème Brûlée Martini, my husband just had a Vodka and Tonic. We then split, the Clams Oreganato, which were so Dry!! Omg think they forgot to add Butter. It was all bread crumbs. Then I had the Twin Lobster Tails, which I thought was good. Cooked perfectly. My husband had the dry aged rib eye, which was full of nerves!! For $80.00?? And we got a side of the mash potatoes that were dry as well. I took 1 fork full. We left them. We don't normally complain or throw prices into the mix, but for $250.00 with the tip for that??? Come on Jake's you can do better.

Solid local Steakhouse, serving amazing steak, delicious daily specials accompanied by all the usual sides beautiful prepared.The wedge salad a must ! Try the fillet mignon some of the best steak ever eaten. Perfect char, warm pink center, melts in your mouth, and If that's not good enough, the daily specials are incredible.! We were too full to have dessert, but from what I can see, they looked really sweet! Oh and service was outstanding made you feel like you were eating in your own dining room at home and huge portions.

first time at a bronx steakhouse! the food was very salty and mids. for starters i got buffalo chicken wings and those barely had any buffalo sauce on it! i was disappointed by the wings it was not that good the french fries were very salty and not crispy as preferred. the star of the show was the garlic mashed potato's and those were an absolute hit! on the other hand, the steak was cooked medium well but it was exceptionally dry and way too salty. i was not a fan. now here's the issue for me, the ambiance was too loud and rowdy. there was a group of 10+ people being obnoxiously loud. the hostess heard the commotion and was making faces at us in dismay and she still sat us right next to that large group. there was plenty of seating downstairs and not once did she offer an alternative despite her complaining about the noise to us! make it make sense i wont come here again and would rather cook my own steak. forget the food, for the price point, the service and ambiance is not worth it. C rating 5/10

Nothing like a black & blue Porterhouse ! Staff is friendly, drinks strong. It's close to Peter Luger. One is dry aged and the other is wet aged.

TLDR: Steakhouse prices of course, but this place delivers solid food and features truly first class service. This is a great Riverdale spot. As steakhouses go, this one is pretty good. Situated right on the west side of Van Cortlandt, this place is great for special occasions and casual dining alike. There are essentially 2.5 floors of seating (upstairs, downstairs, and a small space in between), making for an easy time grabbing a seat, especially during the week (we went on a Wednesday). The upstairs seating has amazing seating by the window, making for a great romantic occasion. The service here was a real standout. First, our server was on top of everything, extremely courteous, friendly, and professional. This really heightened our experience. Second, we came here around 7:45, but stayed until around 9:45, even though the restaurant technically closes at 9. They didn't rush us out, and in fact, they still offered us dessert around 9:15 or so. Mixed Vegetables - I would skip these on my next visit. They are fine for those looking for some sort of veggie, but not a lot of real flavor in these. I don't even think we finished this side. Loaded Potato Croquettes - Perfectly fried, but a little dense. I would suggest for some additional ingredients to thin them a bit and make the filling creamier (e.g. more milk/butter/cream cream). Still a pretty good side though. Jake's Filet Mignon - This was a nice steak. I really enjoyed the frizzled onions and plentiful sauce surrounding it. I ordered it medium, and thats exactly how it arrived -- great! As steaks go, this was good, but these prices were a bit high when you benchmark against other steakhouses (considering quality). Value: 3/5 Quality: 4/5 Quantity: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5

Pleasant front of house, but the food was almost unilaterally mediocre and presented as if someone in the kitchen was too tired to care. My wife had onion soup (good), filet of sole with rice pilaf -- where the fish was past its prime and the pilaf might have come from a box; I had bang bang shrimp which did not go bang bang and all, more like yawn yawn. My rare filet mignon was properly rare but lacking flavor; the side dishes of sauteed broccoli and French fries were a relief because they offered color, texture, and flavor. Our sorbets for dessert were presented carelessly; the ordinary ice-cream parlor plates them better. If this sounds like carping, I assure the reader that I delight in writing positive reviews: this is the record of two disappointed diners who would surely find other restaurants in the area. Oh, $187 plus tip. AND -- while we're talking about class and tact -- Jake's is the only restaurant I've ever seen list two prices: 12 cash and 12.67 credit. Much nicer to say there would be a 4% surcharge for credit. I suspect that the diners who love Jake's have started their dining experience with a good deal of alcoholic lubricant.

I went to Jakes for a Christmas party back in December. I enjoy a good steak especially at a good steak house. I left hungry and dissatisfied. Portions were small (I get prices are going up, but charge me more for a regular portion). A lot of places are doing this, not just this establishment. The food was okay, nothing special that made me say that I need to come back again. Sad but true. I've been to many steak houses this one is not on a list for me to visit again.

There is no doubt the food at Jake's is good, but they have this attitude: "oh we are steakhouse and we can grab a bunch of your money and you will like it." Having a business lunch, one member of our party decided to add a few anchovies to his Caesar salad and wham the bill was hit with a 6 1/2 dollar charge for a few little slimy anchovies! I'll bet when the poor little anchovies were alive they had no idea how valuable they were! I brought this up to the server who essentially said sorry not my job and ran away lickety split. You would think when a customer is annoyed like this a manager would at least come over to say something but nope nobody came by. Another member of our party brought a bottle of kosher wine, and unscrewing hit us with a $25 corkage fee! She had brought kosher wine before because it's not available and they said you're welcome to do it again. So as the bottle was unscrewed we were screwed. Plus the menu has this very bizarre thing where there are two price columns one credit and one non-credit. How insulting and bush league is this. While the food is certainly good don't be surprised if you leave annoyed along with empty pockets.

One of my all-time favorite places. I grew up in the neighborhood and am still here, and Jake's has been a staple for as long as I can remember. It's a neighborhood gem, but all will enjoy no matter where you are from. In addition to Jake's classic steakhouse vibe and the really good fare - we usually get the HUGE T-bone to share, tuna tartare and the delicious carrot cake from Lloyd's Carrot Cake, just a few blocks away - (that they have on the dessert menu), the owner and staff are awesome! I have to be honest. As a person of color, I am always apprehensive when I dine out/go to other establishments because of the (bigoted) mistreatment received at some. None of that exists at Jake's. Everyone is treated with respect and dignity. Went to eat with a friend for Easter Sunday! The food was delicious and the service was great. The place is very much family oriented. I always get my moneys worth when I visit Jake's.

Food was good, the price is not bad and the ambiance was good. Seated by the window was not bad overlooking traffic and park. Nothing fancy. It's nice to have a semi fine-dining in the area to give us good option locally.

Every one and everything is awesome! LOVE JAKES! The staff is hospitable the ambiance is casual the food IS good!

Dinner started well the bacon was super tasty I ordered a ribeye and it lacked flavor I was expecting much more for$ 85.00 I ordered a bottle of wine and before I can finish The host came to the table and asked if we can leave because they had other reservations I looked around and there was empty tables, I was truly offended, after a $ 220 meal to be asked to be moved to the bar. I won't be coming back

Food was okay, not really much of a steak person... went to try out and celebrate an event. A bit on the pricey side... the staff was very nice and polite. The food (shared a Tomahawk Steak for (2) sides Fries/Baked Potato/Brussels Sprouts.. my partner is more experience in steak eating and he said it was just okay... I thought the same thing and I'm not even an expert. I probably won't return just because I'm not crazy for steak... but I think my partner won't either due to the tasting of the food... Make sure to make reservations b/c they get pretty busy..

I've been eating here're since 2014 and this review is not based off of one experience,. I wouldn't recommend if your black or brown. Ive been here numerous times with hopes of it being better, based on a different groups experience. I can promise you management won't even attempt to listen. They do not care about your experience, only the money in. Why keep going? I try my best to spend my money locally but this is a scenario where the travel to Westchester or NYC makes sense. Too vague? Glasses will have caked up gunk because the bartenders could care less about customers and more about their friends they invite and give free drinks too. Burgers will be overcooked without fail Steak will be undercooked 100% of the time Salad is good until you look at the receipt for 3 pieces of butter lettuce and two tomatoes. This place is ran by college students texting but runs as a high end steakhouse. Don't believe me? Just walk in once. There's no quality assurance on anything, this is not a pandemic problem, just a Jake's issue as other restaurants have flourished since. Promise you the management doesn't care.

Terrible customer service skills. After spending a lot of money on an incorrect pickup order, essentially no help was offered to remedy it. The initial person I spoke with even asked me, "what do you want us to do about it?" Next employee I spoke with had nothing more to contribute. I enjoy the food, when I get the correct order, but after such terrible "hospitality", I will never order from Jake's again. Do yourself a favor, and order down the street from "Home BX", they are also on all the delivery apps.

Great spot up by Riverdale. Had a going away dinner here for a buddy moving to Austin. The food and service did not disappoint. The porterhouse for two was perfect as were the sides. I would definitely go back again!

Went to this steakhouse to eat. I got low on cash and couldn't tip. After everything, I went outside to go to my car and the waiter came out to me to question why I didn't tip him. This place has got to have the most lowest class employees and management I have ever seen. What gives these people the right to follow customers out to their car to question them about being tipped? Sadly, I'm happy you didn't get a tip, your attitude was horrible during our dinning experience. You had a monotone voice and rarely checked on us to see if we needed anything. Honestly, do not go here to eat unless you want a horrible experience. To the waiters, have some class and don't go bothering customers when they finish and leave to ask about a tip that you may or may not deserve. You don't know who you'll walk up on next time and they may not be nice like I was to you.

It is good for carnivores or all stripes but I wish they served grass fed and grass finished meats to cut down on people's health issues caused by factory corporate farms and grain fed cattle that are naturally meant to eat grass! I think the demographics and consciousness of the neighborhood is changing and Riverdale needs to step up its game. For those neighbors who don't care then Jake's is the place for you! Great service and large portions.

Good food and Manhattan ambience at the northern end of Broadway. I felt at home here.

The sides and drinks were great. I ordered the bone in ribeye and was left underwhelmed. Wished it had more flavor. The service was excellent, Teddy our server was on point. The ambiance has a great old school bar/saloon feel

Had my fingers crossed on this night looking for a memorable evening to spend with my wife celebrating my birthday. Jackpot! We were first timers to Jakes, and now have plenty of reason to return. Thank you to the staff. Our lovely and attentive waitress Mairim. Chris behind the bar making a couple of perfect Old Fashions, and Christian for keeping our water glass filled and clearing the table without feeling rushed. The food was off the charts delectable and delicious. Tuna tartare and portobello salad to begin. Tasty and light on the tummy. Then it was time for the main event I had short ribs on the brain and the kitchen did not disappoint. Just melt in your mouth good. My wife went all in with the 35 Day Dry Aged Bone-In Rib Eye(check the picture). Just Wowzaaa! Cooked to perfection, and fed us for a couple of days after. The gift that kept giving. No room left for desert. So finished off with a sambuca, a scoop of ice cream with candle and a birthday wish... that we won't wait too long before our next reservation made. Thanks Jakes, for a great start to the next chapter!

Bar was pretty busy on a Monday! Drinks were excellent..... service need assistance, they could have used a second bartender. Ordered apps, filet crostini was very tasty but over cooked. I ordered Clams Oreganata and I got baked clams which were not good. Didn't order an entree, maybe next time. Ambience was that if a steakhouse.

My husband took me here for my bday several years back. The food was just OK, nothing memorable. The main memory I have from that very basic meal was of the very rude server, "So you say it's your birthday?" Like they were gonna deduct the dessert from her paycheck. I don't even remember if I got a dessert. Sometimes, you can just tell when white folk are upset they have to serve POC. Too bad for her b/c we usually tip very well. We like to support local, but will never go to Jake's again!

Overpriced. Average food. But excellent staff. Not much more to say. Except maybe go over to F&J Pine and get a wider menu, with larger portions, for the same price.

The atmosphere is dressed up, so it has the feel of a fancy night out, but the food is pretty mediocre and significantly overpriced for quality. You would do better going to the old steakhouse up on Riverdale Ave. Which is also pretty mediocre, but it's not pretending to be something it isn't.

Apparently they have this new thing where they charge you $6 more per meal, if you're using your credit card. And a $11 for non-cash fee!!! If the kitchen closes at 9:30 don't have a 9:30 reservation available, It doesn't make any sense.

My Boyfriend and I went here recently and we noticed that all the colored folks were seated all against the wall, that was very weird. Also the server took a while to take our order but as soon as the people next to us was seated he attended to them in a fly. Then a lady who was changing the table covering went over to the table that was just seated and asked them if everything is okay and never asked me nor my boyfriend. Overall the experience was okay the steak was good I wish they had more sauce option and the Mac and cheese was lovely as well.

jake's steakhouse never lets me and my friends down.a party of 16 breaking bread and having drinks with my brother-hood.christen took care of all of us. i appreciate every second that i was there..live,love,life and never take anything for granted.

Went for my younger brother's dinner at 7:30pm. (A group of 7 )We were immediately greeted and sat . Staff are all welcoming and attentive. We took our baby niece unexpectedly and they gladly accommodated us . Food was delicious. Prepped and season as requested . Drinks were the perfect match. Our waiter was super friendly and patient . Even offered to cut the remaining cake and pack it to go. Service , food and drinks were top notch on a Monday night .

I attempted to make a reservation and was told they were full and could not provide a reservation as I looked into the virtually empty restaurant. We left. Never again.

I don't understand this sounds expensive and the food is not the greatest. I've had better and sizzler steakhouse. Sorry that I can't give you a better rating. I was definitely not please.

This is my second time visiting this establishment. The first time was on a Saturday night, which we were not impressed with the food. We re-visited on a Thursday evening and was much more pleased with how the food tasted. If you're looking for a good local steakhouse, this is it but I would recommend going on a weeknight. Reservations are required.

I want to give it more stars but it's a little hard. The fact that there is only one waiter on a Friday is telling of the owners commitment to their patrons. Seems like that is more staff hanging out vs serving their customers. 6 tables on the first floor for one waiter is unacceptable to be honest. The food is good and plenty, drinks are well made, waiter is awesome but overwhelmed. Stop by if it's your only choice.

Very family oriented place to have especially for special occasions. My father loves this place. The food is amazing and the staff is very professional.
