"Did someone say small plates? The cured ham cut from Spain’s famed, acorn-fed Iberico pigs is a definite must-try at restaurateur José Andrés’s iconic tapas spot. The restaurant’s “sangria hour” features a slew of tapas, from patatas bravas to salmon tartare, priced $3-$6. It gets pretty crowded, so get there early (starts at 4 p.m.) —Lenore Adkins" - Lenore Adkins, Missy Frederick

Some very interesting combinations and excellent presentation. Priced at between $15-20 a plate this can get quite expensive quickly so be careful. Very limited wine list but a few gems can be found. Service is attentive and the place has some bright interesting decor. Sadly the obligatory TV screen sits over the bar blaring sports or such. So not a romantic date night place. Outdoor seating is fun in summer and not a busy road so good for chatting. Worth a visit.

This was my first José Andrés restaurant experience and I absolutely loved it! The ambiance was fun and decor was gorgeous. Additionally, the service was very kind and helpful. We came here during restaurant week, which was a fantastic way to try multiple dishes, we will definitely be back! Fantastic food, with my favorite being the arroz con setas (a creamy rice with mushrooms), but I didn’t have one bad plate so you can’t go wrong with whatever you try.

Our server, Mark, was informative and friendly. The food runners were also rather informative. We chose the Classic Experience from their tasting menu options: gazpacho, Gambas al ajillo, sautéed mushrooms, Catalan spinach (with pine nuts, fresh apples and very large raisins), chicken croquettes, grilled chicken thighs, chorizo with mashed potatoes, patatas bravado, endive (with oranges, goat cheese and sliced almonds). (Pretty sure I missed something… There was so much food!) My personal favorites: the endives, spinach, chorizo and dessert! Dessert was a fantastic flan and a rum-soaked 1/4 of fresh pineapple. I knocked off 1 star for their shortfalls: a weak pitcher of the sangria rosada and the reach of the food runners. The manager was very responsive about that feedback. (I really would give them 4.5 stars if I could.) I also took advantage of the option to pre-load our tab. For $250 they gave a $50 bonus which was a nice surprise for our group of 4. We left Jaleo Crystal City full and happy.

Great experience with the family eating at Jaleo in Crystal City for the first time. We tried the seafood and chicken paella and enjoyed both dishes very much for their unique taste and flavors. We also tried a few other tapas dishes which were all delicious. We ended the meal with desserts that was shared amongst the table and everything was quite divine. Would highly recommend this restaurant if your ever in the dc metropolitan area.

AMAZING!!!!! The food’s really good. The ambiance was so relaxing. Excellent customer service. Convenient location. Modern, nice, and perfect for dates. They are doing a great job with Covid guidelines. Fair prices and good portions. I really recommend it. I’m coming back for sure.

The food was wonderful! One of one perks of tapas is that we were able to try a wide variety of foods including duck, squid, rabbit, mushrooms, peppers, and potatoes. Servings are relatively small, but it's expected to order multiple dishes and share with the table, so the price evens out a bit. Service was also prompt and our glasses were never empty. We'll definitely be back!

Visited with my brother we picked it on a whim for lunch and for the $20 lunch set. We looked everything expect for one dish and I think that was more personal taste than anything being wrong. Neither of us have liked flan in the past but we both enjoyed the flan served. Service was day and everyone kind, i hope to return and try other dishes

Have been to the DC and Bethesda locations, so I just had to round out the trio! Dinner here did not disappoint, and it was much less crowded than the DC location - you can actually get into your booth without knocking into several other people and tables. We had a party of 4 and did the Jaleo experience tasting menu plus a seafood paella. I don’t regret it at all, but holy cow it was a lot of food. I stopped taking pictures after the first few courses because I was distracted by the excellent food, which I now regret! We had to take quite a bit home, but I do think that their paella is a must try. One of our party also got the Spanish Sips, which paired a wine with each course - delicious. Always excellent service, great drinks, and great ambience. This location also has a wine shop where you can purchase bottles that are on the menu. Free parking on weekends and after 4pm in the garage right next door.
