"Benni Jama is an outdoor barbecue joint that overwhelms the senses. Walking in, you are greeted by a life-size figure of Celia Cruz sitting on a rocking chair as her music blasts overhead. There is a bunch of outdoor seating, but we like the shaded church benches surrounded by caricatures of famous Cubans. As you’re waiting for your order, look up and appreciate the Sistine Chapel-esque mural featuring an impressive cast of political figures. The barbeque here is on par with its extravagant exterior, beautiful and full of flavor. Start with an order of the thick chicharrones. There’s a variety of grilled meats marinated in mojo, and the half chicken has a subtle smoke to it. Sit down, eat, and watch the old standups by Alvarez Guedes playing in the background—or just take in the hyper-muscular forms of Fidel Castro and Vladamir Putin." - yuliet llanes

Super cool and unique spot. If you’re Cuban, this place hits home!! Although it looks like a food truck from the outside, there’s really so much to look at and enjoy. Very lighthearted decor that is sure to make you laugh. They also have live music and the food snd service are great!

Welcome to a wonderland of art, adventure, and good food. This place is full of amazing art and fun things for all ages. The food was okay but you can tell it was cooked with lots of love. The sister owners were super friendly and gave us excellent service. This place is so big and has options for seating. You can sit inside or outside under the shade or in their back area. The restaurant has an eclectic atmosphere with quotes and sayings that show the owner’s sense of humor. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend you try this local spot from Miami locals. We had a plate of croquetas, and a Cuban sandwich with fries. Will definitely return to this wonderful family owned establishment.

Great place to experience a taste of Cuban food, music, and the beautiful language. We started our meal with an outstanding appetizer of chicharons, sausage, and a sweet potato, and the plate was served with this super flavorful sauce; This is a must try. As for my actual dinner, I'm not a fan of black beans, but the rice and black beans were fantastic. The sweet potatoes were out of this world-hard to believe it was even a sweet potato. My entree was good, just not something I should have gotten - way too much food food for a light eater. Cuban dishes here could probably serve two of the average eating people. I would be eating on that single plate for 3 or 4 times before finishing it.

Google
Fun Cuban place to visit, has a lot of nooks and crannies to sit in. Lot of food given and very tasty... enjoyable place with awesome service, great prices, and amazing food. Would highly recommend.

Jama Benn Jama is a total hidden gem. This Cuban grill spot nails it with big, flavorful portions of perfectly grilled meats and sides that hit all the right notes. Everything tastes fresh and authentic, like it was made with love and a little fire. The atmosphere is just as memorable—the place is filled with quirky, cool novelty decor that gives it a ton of character. Every corner has something eye-catching, making it feel fun and totally one-of-a-kind. Whether you're going for the food or the vibe, Jama Benn Jama delivers. Definitely a must-try if you're craving something hearty, delicious, and full of Cuban soul.

The skirt steak chimichurri was not worth the price for portion. The place is a bit run down. It's great for tourists and kids. Reminds me the old swap shop.

**Review of Jama Benn Jama** Jama Benn Jama has long been a favorite spot for Cuban food, and I’ve visited several times over the years. However, my most recent experience left me feeling a bit disappointed. **Food Quality:** In my earlier visits, the flavors and freshness of the dishes were outstanding. Unfortunately, this time, the food didn’t quite meet the high standards I had come to expect. The masas de puerco, which used to be generous in size and bursting with flavor, were noticeably smaller and lacked that fresh taste. It was disheartening to see a beloved dish fall short of its former glory. **Atmosphere:** On a brighter note, the atmosphere at Jama Benn Jama is still fantastic. The vibrant decor and lively ambiance create a warm and inviting space that makes dining here enjoyable. It’s perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. **Service:** The service remains commendable. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure that customers feel welcome and taken care of. This is definitely a highlight of the dining experience and adds to the overall positive vibe of the restaurant. In summary, while Jama Benn Jama still shines in terms of atmosphere and service, the recent dip in food quality—especially with signature dishes like masas de puerco—has been disappointing. I hope they can regain their culinary excellence in future visits because this restaurant has so much potential to delight with its traditional Cuban flavors. 🌴🍽️✨

Yelp
This is a cool spot to go to if you're a tourist and not from here. Although the food is just okay it definitely has a very miami vibe to it. The food was just okay. I wouldn't recommend the ribs or the pan con bistec. The mariquitas had a different kind of garlic sauce that was amazing. Also the chicharron was perfect. Not too greasy and not too dry. But the batido de banana (banana shake) was delicious. Unfortunately there were a lot of flies fighting me for my food. The vibe is probably the only reason I'd come back. Very kid friendly momentos to keep em busy while you wait for your food. I went at 1:30pm on a Saturday it was 79 degrees out. I was worried about the outdoor seating but with the fans the temperature was tolerable. I took a yeti cup with my own drink to keep me cool and the staff was fine with it. They also had live music to add to the Miami vibe. Ultimately, I may come back and try something different. Like I said before the food was just okay but I liked the vibe. Worth trying at least once.

Yelp
Oh, let me tell you, this place is absolutely amazing! It's like stepping into a time capsule, with all that authentic charm. And don't even get me started on the food - it's a solid five out of five! Now, I have to admit, they could use a bit more staff. I was there on Father's Day, and boy, did it take forever to get my food once it finally arrived at the table. But hey, when it did come, the presentation was top-notch and the taste was out of this world. Sure, it's a tad pricey considering there are plenty of other options nearby, but trust me, it's worth every penny. I highly recommend giving this place a try. The ambience? Oh, it's like taking a stroll down memory lane.

Yelp
Jema benn jama!!! Was fun, delicious and the decor is over the top. Good service, servers were very nice and helpful with the menu. The coffee was delicious

Yelp
We drove past this place and it looked very interesting soo we decided to stop by. It was super cute and had so many different kinds of art things like in the pics. We only got smoothies and juices but the food smelled and looked really great! Will be coming here on my next visit for sure.

Herline R.

Yelp
This restaurant is such a cute spot, resembling an art gallery celebrating all things Cuba. The journey begins right in the parking lot , it feels like you're entering a whole different place other then a restaurant . Seating is outdoor, the only thing we didn't enjoy was that they allowed a dog there while we were eating . On the plus side, the customer service is excellent, with attentive staff who regularly check on you. We got their mamey juice and guava, although the mamey's flavor didn't quite match our expectations, the guava didn't really have a guava taste. We also enjoyed their chicharron, rice and beans, and yuca.

Maibel R.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Fair price. Ambiance is nice & homey! Love my culture! All the details in the decor are awesome! Only 2 down sides is 1. They're short on staff. 2. They don't serve beer, wine or liquor.

Mario G.

Yelp

Yelp
The food was pretty good and authentic, on par with most Cuban places in Miami. The ambiance was incredibly fun, it was great to look around and explore all the niche references and art. The biggest con is that they don't have a bar , so there's no alcoholic beverages but they have pretty good natural juices.

Lucy G.

Yelp
Such an awesome collection of Cuban items and amazing food! Can't wait to go back! Pan con bistec was really good. Chicharrones were perfect!

Raiza G.

Yelp
Well, the ambiance is nice and thank goodness for that. Prior to going we called to ask how long the wait was, and they advised 15-20mins. Must have been Cuban time minutes as we waited for over an hour and a half. Once we were finally seated , we were given the precursor that the kitchen is backed up, so she will begin by taking our drinks and appetizer order. That's fine because that's how it should be anyway. And the dominoes began to fall...first thing they did not have was coconut water, then they did not have mangoes for the mango shake. Ok, it happens. We proceeded to put in alternatives and our appetizer order. We ordered "El Cubiche" which was supposed to be chorizo, yuca frita, and chicharones. As we waited and waited, a table of 7 was seated and one of 2 and their orders were promptly put in prior to ours. We received our appetizer, and chicharones were nowhere to be seen. Instead, in their place, there were fried pork chunks. We ate them...at this point we were famished. Once the waitress returned to pick up the plate, I curiously asked if they called their chicharones fried pork chunks. She apologized and proceeded to say they replaced the chicharones with the pork chunks because you guessed it! They had run out. She apologized and stated she thought the waitress had notified us. Did I mention we've had like 3 different ones. We placed our main order and waited some more. They finally arrived. The pork steak was drier than your grandma's slipper-dry tasteless and saturated with lime. The 2 sides;the malanga puree was an inch from being school paste..the ones you make at home for your kids for crafts and the boniato fries were sparse. The other plate steak milanese was a'ight. The tomato sauce overpowered it. Finally, desert. Prior to ordering I asked what they had left to avoid further disappointment. We ordered the guava flan. Cannot tell you if t is good or not yet because we are still waiting for it to arrive. Yeap, I am writing the review as we sit to occupy the time. I must say this, the waitresses were attentive and very well trained to come in with a bag full of apologies. They were pleasant and attentive throughout this 4hour tour.

Ralph N.

Yelp
Great place with great food. I'm going to be honest, this is essentially a back country restaurant. I knew that before I went so I wasn't surprised/bothered with a couple chickens & a cat walking around. That said, the masitas de puerco and the lechón were good. Had some mango juice as well and it was very enjoyable, made with real mangos open ordering. Will be back to try a media noche sandwich!

Donald L.

Yelp
The most authentic Cuban experience at a restaurant I've ever had. The server had a difficult time translating and making suggestions... so I felt right away that this was going to be a real authentic meal. The atmosphere was legit like a Cuban cafe in Havana that I've seen in photos. The taro mashed potatoes were incredible. The shredded beef was delicious, something I've never had before. Definitely a place to go eat if you have the chance.

Jenna H.

Yelp
Pork ribs and brisket sandwich was amazing highly recommend to anyone in Hialeah !!!!

Tim A.

Yelp
This is one of the most fun places I have ever eaten at. The artwork and decor start in the parking lot. Look around you will see something different every time. Seating is all outside but this is one of the few places I have eaten outside and not been uncomfortable. I found no one there who spoke English the 3 times I have been there but both servers had a great attitude about helping bridge the language barrier and brought just what we ordered. The menu is in Spanish but described in English as well. I had the cubed pork. When served it had a firm, not hard firm, once you bit into it the pork was tender juicy and delicious. This is the only meal I have eaten here but I am sure everything else is just as good. Be sure to check out the bathrooms. While the paintings border on pornographic, they are painted to appear like things people might do in a small town in Cuba.

Jose P.

Yelp
Benn Jamá is a restaurant with a blast enriched with Cuban culture and vibe. Everything from entrance to exit screams Cuba. The menu portion to price is excellent. They have all sorts of different shakes that are native to Cuban culture and also regular fruit shakes as well. There is no vegan menu here but they will accommodate you with a side salad and fries. We ordered the chicken sandwich and pollo a la plancha with arroz Moro y maduros. Chicken was well cooked and so was the sandwich which in between Cuban bread.

Oneida L.

Yelp
Had the falda with bbq sauce and coleslaw it comes with chicharrita de malanga. The life band consisted of only two people and it was awesome

Sebastian A.

Yelp
We've past by this place quite sometimes, but never thought of it as a place we should try. We came in since the reviews were pretty good... and it did not disappoint. To begin with, the decoration and ambiance is really cool, reminded me of a Colombian fonda. Now, the food was amazing! Really homey Cuban sazón! I specially recommend the tamal and the vaca frita. Hey, even the juices were to die for.

Peggy a.

Yelp
Cuban food made deliciously. Pork is very tender and flavorful. Love how it's chopped and all dishes are just as delish. Customer service needs improvement but during these times, it's been the norm to fall short. Will certainly be ordering to-go more often.

Rafael R.

Yelp
Excellent place for authentic Cuban Food. Really cool place good ambiance and service.

Adita P.

Yelp
I'm so pleased with the overall customer care, location and catering provided by this establishment. My son's engagement party was a wonderful family event. From day one Alexa, their event planner, provided ideas and offered assistance through the process. She was always available to answer questions. Thank you Benn Jama for making this event a success!

Jessica H.

Yelp
Food was delicious and the place has live music and great cafe con leche Food tastes amazing

Frederick T.

Yelp
We were in the mood for Cuban food. My stepdaughter and her boyfriend suggested we try this place. I will admit I was a little apprehensive at first, but when we got there, what a fun, whimsical and eclectically decorated place. All reflecting the Cuban heritage. The restaurant seating is outside. Under canopies that have been painted reflecting the old country back in Cuba. The service staff were friendly and attentive and took our orders promptly. They even had a band playing old Cuban favorites. I will tell you the food was amazingly good and they serve a lot, almost enough for two people on one plate. Part of the fun was the fact that everybody got a different kind of plate size and style, different and fun. Just a heads up, they don't serve beer or wine, but they allow you to bring your own and they'll even give you a bucket of ice to keep it cold. I could go on and on, but my best advice is for you to go check them out. You won't be disappointed. A very fun experience. The food is delicious. you'll leave that place with a full belly, a smile on your face, And a memorable experience.

Yelp
Read about this Cuban BBQ spot in Hialeah Gardens recently and knew I had to try it. First things first, the lechon here is the best I've ever had. And that's coming from a Cuban girl that's been eating lechon since birth, practically. It was perfectly tender, juicy and topped off with a delicious blend of garlic and onions. I got my lechon platter with a side of boiled yuca and fried plantains. Both were also cooked and seasoned to perfection. My boo got the smoked chicken with moro and fried yuca and he raved about his meal as well. Either come hungry or prepared to share because portions are LARGE (but then again, what else would you expect from a Cuban spot with a name that literally translates to "come and eat"?) What truly sets this place apart from other Cuban restaurants is its incredible decor. Plenty of spots throughout to take photos. This is fully outdoors if you're still weary of eating inside, but be warned that not a single soul (servers or the other patrons I saw come in) were wearing masks. The service was efficient but very straight to the point. In fact when I asked for the check halfway through the meal (sine I had another commitment to get to) the waitress looked confused and apprehensive. In any case, this spot DEFINITELY deserves a visit if you're in the area (and even if you're not, tbh).

Andrieka R.

Yelp
As soon as you walk up their art work and decor is eye catching beautiful. Their food is flavorful. good portions. I love the outdoor scenery. A1 customer Service

Chantalle F V.

Yelp
Fun and funky ambiance w/ explicit political bent so for individual guests to decide if is for them. The menu is inviting but food and beverages prepared in underwhelming manner. For my palate, I did not enjoy the taste, texture or temperature of some foods (eg, fried plantains were not seasoned and too thick; chicken chunks dry and under seasoned: don't recall what now but something else I ordered was lukewarm when it should have been hot; the ham croquetas very thick and a flavor I did not enjoy). Even the juices (tried the lemonade second visit; don't recall how I liked Maracuya first time - maybe better) had a flavor that didn't encourage me to order again. I ate here twice in order to give it a second chance. Not going to eat here a third time. There are waaay better tasting options in Miami. I just need to learn which ones for this area. Too bad because the staff was kind and helpful, the food comes out quickly, and the location is easy to access.

Michelle L.

Yelp
It's Local business love Thursday and my newly found Cuban Aso bbq spot comes to mind. With plenty of outdoor seating, this super cute kitschy Cuban bbq is sure to win you over. So much to choose from including brunch and the premises is so adorable. Very picture spot worthy. My exact words. "I want to take pictures of everything" We ordered the bbq rib platter for two with two sides corn and mashed potatoes. The rib portion for two was ginormous. We needed to take it home with us which we warmed the next day and still good. I will knock A star down because I think the ribs were reheated the first time we ordered it and the ends seemed to be fried in some oil because they were crispy and oily. I guess since it was a random Tuesday afternoon (Veterans Day) they didn't have much movement so the ribs were already made. But all in all they were definitely good. I'd like to come back and try the other dishes. Come check them out!!! En Hialeah!

Denise A.

Yelp
Great food, service and ambiance is the best. Coming again for sure! I love the Cuban vibe.

Charly D.

Yelp
This is our favorite spot in the area for quality food and great tasting Latin sazon! This is THE place for meat options, from steak sirloin to ribs, pork, you name it. Try also your favorite Cuban classic sides: moros, tostones, yuca, etc. Great food, great ambiance, friendly staff. Tip: order food in bulk for events and your guests will be impressed!

daniela m.

Yelp
Ordered this for a construction visit for over 40 people and 3 weeks later people are still talking about it. 10/10

Shamira P.

Yelp
If you want to be transported back to a "finca" (farm) vibe... this is the place! The food is fireeeee!!!!!! I ordered the two of the plates that have multiple meats.. it was 3 of us and we all ate until we could no more and still had left overs! Our server Lilia.. was amazing! She checked on us and still left us to talk and hang out!

Maria A.

Yelp
Food was very tasty, best Cuban I've had. I would order to go next time as I'm not a fan of the offbeat decor, too political and religious ecliptic mixed; open seating area is ok if weather isn't too hot or rainy, a few flies buzzing around so they have fans to keep off. no alcohol served but that is just fine, we were there for the good food anyway. The pork was amazingly well prepared and congri rice delicious, best hands down.

Montero M.

Yelp
this place is a true hidden GEM. anyone that you take here will definitely get a kick out of this place. the art work, all of the cuban tributes the entire place is just entertainment itself. I love the paladar feel of this place and the food is just delicious. The congri and masita de puerco are to die for. it truly taste home made. the lemonades here taste like the lemonades made at home in cuba. I loved this place, so I took my picky cuban grandma here and she loved the food! so it def passed the test!

Grace G.

Yelp
This place is very cool as it an outdoor venue with many picturesque spots. We came on a Saturday morning shortly after opening unfortunately they told us we would have to wait 40 mins until they could serve us because they didn't have all the sides nor meats ready. After having waited an hour, The lady server was not polite at all she didn't take our order so we just left. Unfortunately I didn't get to try it because they were out of certain meats and it seemed like the server was in a bad mood or something. Probably won't be going back here.

Alejandro K.

Yelp
i have heard of this place for a while now. decided to stop by and order to to. we asked for 2 pan con lechon and a side of yuca and to our surprised received a big to go container. the place does not look like much but the food is really good. the poetion size amazed me but the quality of the pork and specially the taste of it was superior to other places i have been to. the yuca was also really good and wasnt burnt or hard. parking is in premises and really easy to park and pick up your food. service was good and fast, the lady was nice and helpful as i wasnt sure on what to order. it is super expensive and if you take into account the portion then it is somehow a steal. the only reason i did not give it 5 stars is because this is not a place i will recommend for dinning in as i see it more like a quick stop before going home or grabbing lunch to eat somewhere else. i highly recommend stoping by and giving it a try i lf you are in the area and will like some cuban food.

ivan z.

Yelp
Pros: - Nice environment. - Nice pork ribs with mojo Cons: - Food is expensive for the price you pay. -Tap water is not included. You need to buy it!!! ‍ - Congri(rice mixed with beans) have a lot of cooking oil. You can see the contrast on the picture with the brown paper.

Oliver L.

Yelp
My business orders food from this location every Friday for our employees. The food is amazingly good. Great service. And the sweets are out of this planet Good! I will continue to conduct business with this location since I support small business. Make sure to take a camera because this location has epic scenery.

Juan Pablo V.

Yelp
Me gusta mucho el lugar, la gente amable y la comida maravillosa. Les recomiendo que prueben las croquetas, son lo máximo.

Sarah P.

Yelp
My review is just on the look of the place. I frequently pass this area, so I pulled over to check it out. I did not try any of the food, but it certainly smelt nice from the waft of smells coming form the burners. I will certainly be back at some point to try them out. I loved the decor, very artsy, rustic and Miami! A cool spot for sure

Jennifer P.

Yelp
I feel like all my grandparents and parents stories from Cuba came to life when I walked in. The decor was so fun and told so many stories. The staff was super friendly and the service was great. I came for breakfast and the portions were huge. The ham croquetas also had a very distinctive taste. Not like the regular ones you get from a bakery. These were huge on size and flavor. I highly recommend. It's definitely a place you have to see in person.

Wendy H.

Yelp
Let me start my saying that the customer service was amazing . The atmosphere was adorable. We ordered food to go but definitely will be returning to eat there. The ribs were great! The churrasco was delicious. Overall, it was great food and customer service. The woman gave us a tour of the place and even told us about upcoming events and new food coming! I recommend this place!!!

Sussel V.

Yelp
I went today to buy food, to start the lady that received me ask what I wanted, I told her to order food , she took the order on a portal with chairs and toll me that I couldn't wait there , that I have to go a sit on my car and wait for her to bring me the food., I didn't understand why, since the business was completely empty. Been empty should have alarm me , but since I went there before on a weekend the place was really packed and the food was good, i give the benefit of the doubt, I didn't tough about it much and I decided to wait on my car. I order two plates with smoke ribs, moros and yuca frita. When I got home to sit and eat, the food was disgusting the rib never smoke, they were overcook dry and skinny no meat only bones, the yuca frita was not well cook or fried, the moros were greasy and sticky, in general the food looks like it was leftovers from the previous weekend. It sad to think that because one experience I had , already erase the good one that I had before. Food it's really expensive todays day and the prices that you have are not cheap at all, and the give me a really bad quality food. Me and my husband felt insulted and robbed. I will suggest that if you don't have fresh and good food to serve and offer to the public please don't open , we all leave around your business and we are a hard working community that deserves better business, and we won't forget that your serving overpriced leftovers. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, thank you

Glenda M.

Yelp
I came here Memorial Day Monday after a hectic day of furniture shopping and borborygmi (intestine and stomach noises from hunger or food digestion). The restaurant is very rustic with a lot of old furniture: e.g old bbq's, a music player, a shoe shinning station, and your very own celia cruz doll. There was a rooster a hen and some little chicks rolling around the place which added to the farm house charm. There is a fan on top of each table outside, and some of the tables have benches made of beer kegs. Now to talk about the food.. it's very abundant and 2 big people can eat from one plate. My mom and I ordered ordered the "cubanaso" where you can choose three different types of meat and two sides if you want to try a little bit of everything. My favorite was the ribs and i was undecided between just mojito sauce and bbq sauce so the waitress gave me the bbq sauce on the side and the ribs had the mojito flavor on it. The picaña was also delicious and came in at a close second with the ribs. This is definitely a repeat restaurant and I will be coming back to Benni Jamas. A gem in Hialeah and I hope they stay in business as long as my stomach can munch on food. These are spanish words from my mother who also wanted to contribute to the review and is much more Cuban than I will ever be: "Si eres amante a la buena comida te recomiendo este lugar. Solo le doy cinco estrellas por que no le puedo dar seiz. Abundate y deliciosa al estillo campesino, como hecha en casa. Esto es para e dueño: "Diganle al cocinero que ya se puede casar."

Yelp
I saw this place last week for the first time. If you like out of the way places to eat, you have to stop here if you're in Hialeah. Leave it to hialeah to have a restaurant next to a nursery where they sell plants and rocks. The food was good and plentiful. I normally eat the food I'm served. Grandma taught me that, but in this case I couldn't. I ordered pork tenderloin with yucca and a tamale. The tamale alone would have filled a normal person. The tenderloin was smoky and tasty. The yucca was soft, mushy and delicious, as it should be. My wife had the fried pork chunks with moros, which is rice and beans. Everything was really tasty. I'm going back to try some of their other meals. I saw what a steak sandwich should be when it grows up. This thing looked GINORMOUS. Everything is Cuban-style. Check it out if you find yourself in hialeah.

Yelp
When we arrived the owner or manager greeted us at the parking lot. We chose where we wanted to sit. The decor is very Cuban eclectic and makes you feel at home if Cuban. Waitresses were very friendly. Seating is all outdoors. My husband loved the ribs! Big portions and it all tastes good.
