The 15 Best Restaurants In Kendall

"You’ll find Jamaica Kitchen in the middle of a massive strip mall with no shortage of free parking. The restaurant is a narrow and mostly to-go spot with a few outdoor tables. Jamaica Kitchen is a Chinese-Jamaican restaurant, a delicious and not uncommon pairing in Jamaica. They have Chinese dishes like shrimp fried rice and foo gua. But you’ll still find pretty classic Jamaican dishes here too, like some very good jerk chicken and patties. That, along with a peanut punch, is our go-to order here. The Best Jamaican Patties in Miami

"Jamaica Kitchen has been handing patties to customers from the same location since 1976. They’ve had the same patty chef since 1986, so needless to say, customers can count on consistency. They serve seven different patties—beef (spicy/mild/cheesy), chicken (curry/jerk), spinach, and vegetable—and while their patties don’t have the flakiest crust, they still have a nice crunch and are thick enough to hold the fillings in place as you eat. A red dot on the top of the crust will remind you that you picked a spicy one, so proceed with caution." - yolande clark jackson

The Best Things We Ate This Week

"Jerk Chicken Jerk chicken research is coming to an end this week (stay tuned for the full guide soon) and one of the last spots I checked out was Jamaica Kitchen in South Miami. Sorry for the spoiler, but you’ll definitely be seeing them on our final jerk chicken guide. This spot - which is Chinese-Jamaican - hit all the notes I’ve come to expect from a proper jerk chicken (after eating about a dozen versions over the last month). It’s a little smoky, spicy, and incredibly juicy. I’ll be stopping by here again next time I’m in the area." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea

The Best Jerk Chicken In Miami

"In a huge strip mall in northeast Kendall, you’ll find Jamaica Kitchen, a narrow and mostly to-go spot with a few outdoor tables. Jamaica Kitchen is a Chinese-Jamaican restaurant, a delicious and not uncommon pairing in Jamaica, but you’ll still find a classic jerk chicken here. Ours was a little light on spice, but still smoky and tender enough to rip apart with nothing more than our fingers. Grab a peanut punch on your way out and you’ve got yourself a fantastic lunch or dinner." - ryan pfeffer
