Listen to me if I didn’t place my order for a church dinner next Sunday I would’ve been feenin (lol) and right back getting this Curry Chicken Dinner w/ Mac, Yams, and red beans & rice…. But you will see me that next Sunday after for my fix I just needed a lil bit more Mac but overall it was delicious and hit that spot…I was praying that it was good and y’all out did yourselves Im happy Satisfied and Full 😋thank you for cooking with love 💕 and doing it right God Bless you all thank uuuuuu oh I tried to save some for later and I couldn’t stop

I wanted a dinner the girl at the front when I walked in wouldn't even acknowledge I was there so I walked out and never went back . The worst thing about the ordeal was when I kept asking her a question and she walked away . Never going back again .

I had 1/2 white jerk chicken dinner. The chicken was delicious, red beans & rice was plentiful but there was not enough greens!

It's really good, authentic Jamaican food. Good size portions and friendly service. Would recommend.

This place should be ashamed of themselves! Complete rip off for food that doesn’t even have enough flavor! They say they sell “ dinners” but yet they charge people for rice and peas with their dinner. If I’m ordering a dinner and I just get meat.. is that still a dinner! No correct? Please take your money somewhere else.

Food was excellent! The seasoning was on point with fish and chicken. The cabbage, yams, rice/beans were delicious. The food was fresh and cooked well. Regarding service, the young man needs to get off the phone when taking orders but he's good with answering questions and giving recommendations. The restaurant is clean and menu is very detailed. I highly recommend them!

The main thing is, I ordered this from DoorDash and I must say it was a lot of food but all the wrong food was sent to me. I ordered rib tips and they sent half of chicken so I won't be ordering from them again.

I called the order in and it was ready when I arrived. The food was just what I wanted. Seasoned perfectly too. Great Customer service and Courteous and efficient !! Perfect in Southshore !!

I ordered the Jerk Rib Tips, Macaroni and cheese, with red beans and rice. Also, ordered additional sides Yams and plantain. The food was seasoned well, piping hot, and the order was accurate. The rib tips were very tender, the plantain was cooked to perfection. The Jerk Sauce had just enough heat! Another person in my group ordered the Brown Stewed Chicken, it was very tender and seasoned to perfection. The customers were very friendly and made suggestions. This was a first time visit, but, I will be returning! Definitely, a hidden gem!

I give it three stars. Service was great, the guy there had us laughing. If you're into eating in classy places, this is far from it. However if you're into eating finger licking soul food. Then this is for you! We drove by and smelled the amazing aromas, so we had to stop by. Dark Jerk chicken with two sides, reasonably priced. No sitting room this was ordered to go. Which wasn't a problem since I was working near by.

I stopped by the other day and just tried the wings ok all in all but pricey.decent lunch menu,it's a new place so I definitely will try them again

This food was so delicious I had to go back a few weeks later and the sides are also really delicious One of my favorite places for Jerk Chicken

Hands down one of the best Jamaican restaurants I've tried. I live in the burbs and usually drive to the city for good food. I randomly picked this spot and arrived right before they closed. I knew I walked into a good spot when a regular customer was there ordering food and left a 10$ tip for his last visit. He suggested I get the curry goat, rice and peas, cabbage and a slice of cake. I ordered mixed jerk chicken with Mac, greens, and rice and peas and it was the Bomb.com! Can't wait to visit the city again ..... and they give you Alotttttt

The food is good. 4 stars In the past I've ordered from them as well as Royal Carribbean on 71st St. Today after several months I realized that the prices are about 3 to 4 dollars MORE than are posted on this site. When I let them know they said that they don't care that people on Yelp will be mislead. 0 stars

No frills, but you get good food and friendly service. Prices are decent and I'm happy to support a local business owner.

Yesterday was my 2nd time at this restaurant. The first time was so awesome!!! This time was not. I spent $46 and received 3 oxtails, a salad with a dead bug in it, a white jerk dinner with a boat load of rice and some bland cabbage and 2 pcs of unsolicited plantain. The oxtails were tender but they really lacked flavor. Also, the food upset my stomach. I will not return here again. The Brother there was nice enough to give me 2 bread and sauces for free. The sauce is the hit!!! They can keep the rest.

I love their jerk rib tips and their jerk chicken dinners! Make sure to get their Mac, Rice and beans with gravy, and the cabbage! It's AMAZING! Authentic and family ran!

In the neighborhood, love the Jerk Chicken. I visit often. So convenient, location, parking, price are my primary reasons for patronage. But the food is AWESOME, bar none some of the best Jerk in town, and we have a lot in this neighborhood. The Chicken is always spiced right and juicy. The veggies are fresh and the Plantains are fantabulous. Always looking forward to my next visit. Jason you rock!!!

I went there yesterday for my first attempt at finding a decent restaurant on the Eastside of Chicago. I never buy food on the east side of Chicago Pizza quality issues and I've lived over here for about 15 years. This Jamaican Jerk restaurant has blown my mind! The food here is of the best quality in the best tasting jerk chicken I've had in years! Do yourself a favor and stop by Jr's Jamaican jerk chicken you will not regret it.

I love this place the chicken has a great grilled flavor and not spicy until u put the sauce on it. Omg the yams are to die for. I can't wait for more spots to start opening up out south

The best Jamaican food in the city of Chicago hands down. From the chicken to the oxtail and the gumbo. Everything they serve was so good. I would recommend trying it.

This has become my go-to Jerk restaurant. You can never go wrong with a jerk chicken dinner. My favorite sides are Mac and cheese, sweet potatoes and rice/beans. I also enjoy the beef patties and stewed chicken. The Oxtails can be hit or miss. Over all, good customer service. Call in orders are normally ready upon arrival.

Best Jamaican food I've found in Chicago. My husband won't eat anybody else's Jamaican food. Since we moved further away from the restaurant, I have ordered Jamaican food from other more conveniently located restaurants. Nothing compares to the quality and prices at JR'S. Go to meals are the curry goat with rice and beans and yams, jerk tilapia or curry chicken with greens and mac and cheese, and we always add a 1/2 dark jerk chicken.

Drove all the way across the city to find out the menu prices are wrong. I knew $2 beef patties were too good to be true. When you getting 10 of them it makes a difference. They wouldn't honor the menu posted here saying they don't know anything about that.

I LOVE Jr's! There are a bunch of Jamaican spots in Chicago (especially on the South Side) but Jr's is my absolute favorite! I have a friend that drives from the South Loop to order take out from here. Their jerk - AMAZING. Their curry - DELICIOUS. Their sides - TAKE MY MONEY!!!

Sooooo, I was hungry. After I ate a Chicago Connection parfait and had food poisoning, I swore this place off. But I'm not going to lie, this place is a super close to my home & they now sell jerk chicken tacos and burgers & I was hungry. I ordered 2 jerk tacos & jerk burger with fries. The burger was okay. It tasted like a bad frozen patty. But the tacos, the tacos were on point. I think I ordered these tacos the next 3 days in a row. When I lifted the ban, my hubby got the oxtails. He said there wasn't enough meat, but that's always the case getting oxtails at a restaurant. The bottom line is: although the ban has been lifted, I will never eat Chicago Connection bakery parfaits.

I've got a story to tell.....WANNA HEAR IT? Okay...so my office (which is downtown) would make a large group order from JR's like once a month. It was the payday treat. Generally without any major issue. This past Friday, we made our order per usual...but the order wasn't correct. JR had to come back to our site, but I was out of the office so they didn't realize that I had never received my food. No worries...we call and speak with the owner and his daughter to explain. They apologize (they knew they messed it up), but said their driver was out for the day and did not know when they would return. Once again, no worries....they promised to deliver my order AND provide a refund for the purchase. I appreciate customer service so, no harm no foul. Our office contact even promises to make additional orders so that we can maintain our relationship. Monday rolls around, and no sign of JR. Office contact calls and is told that they are unable to deliver today due to a health inspector visit (troubling, but hey....I guess it happens)...but they will DEFINITELY make the trip tomorrow with my order that was missed, and with the extra items we planned to order. Now it's Tuesday. I get the message that JR is coming to deliver about 11:30am. I clear my schedule to make SURE I'm here. About 12:15p...the delivery person shows up with the extra items we ordered, but no sign of my order at all. To be fair, they did provide a refund for my purchase, but now I'm scrambling for a meal when I had my mouth set for Jerk. Sad part is, this was my neighborhood restaurant. I lived a block away for a few years and would often make the trip for lunch/dinner. I WANTED them to succeed...was willing to wait them out...I feel like I've been nothing but accommodating. Mistakes happen...I'm not trying to be THAT guy. But professional promises are just that, and that is the standard I will hold you to. Now, not only have you lost my business...but you've lost the business of my office. We tried calling, we go to voicemail. Texts to the daughter aren't replied. So, in a nutshell, I can't support the business. There are plenty of jerk places in Chicago (My fave is Daddy O's on Cottage). Find another one and let JR's management figure out how to operate a customer friendly establishment. Maybe a few less dollars in the till will help.

Only place I go to for Jamaican food. I've been going here for 6 years for exceptional Jerk chicken, fish, curry shrimp, bomb Mac and cabbage.

I've gone here several times but the last time I was sold some microscopic chicken. Seriously the chicken was extremely small never again. I did enjoy their plantains and the Mac and cheese.

Superior food, tender, seasoned and great portions. Their jerk sauce is very tasty and not super salty. Good spot for some quick good food! Try the jerk chicken salad! Yum!

My boss usually brings this to work and I never knew where he got it all I knew is that it's GOOD!!! I decided to go check the place out myself and it was even better, great tasting food but for $16 I should have gotten much more food. But I will still go back

Hadn't had any jerk chicken in a while so I decided to give Jrs a try. Was pleasantly surprised, moist, seasoned like I like it and best of all a large amount of food. Will definitely be going back can't wait. Little bit of a wait but I know how to solve that, call it in first. Courteous staff, and eight dollars for a jerk chicken dinner with two sides. Daily specials will be calling my name, thank you Yelp.

Depending on what day you go the food may be fresh, or may not. Sunday food sell out fast. Jerk tips were dry to me. Rice is good. They put lots of gravy. Prices recently went up 1.00 on everything (Beef patties are $3 and not worth $3. Meat inside is almost like mashed potatoes. Roger Park has best Patties hands down. Oxtail is ok need more flavoring. Goat and jerk chicken usually the way to go at this place. On a good day a dinner and 1 patty with a drink will cost you over $20 . This is coming from a Natural Born Jamaican. Have yet to find authentic jamaican in Chicagoland area.
