Atlanta’s Best Chicken Wings | Eater Atlanta

"Residents who lived in or attended school near the West End over the last two decades are likely familiar with the wing shack that sat in the parking lot across from what used to be the Georgia Dome. But, the crispy fried, sauce-soaked wings have stayed exactly the same — delicious. 18 Affordable Restaurants Around Atlanta That Won’t Break the Bank

"Residents who lived in or attended school near Vine City and Castleberry Hill over the last two decades are likely familiar with the wing shack that sat in the parking lot on Northside Drive across from what used to be the Georgia Dome. Now located on the edge of Westview Cemetery, the crispy fried, sauce-soaked wings from Jamal’s have stayed exactly the same — delicious — and are still affordable. A 10-piece wing combo with fries hovers around $10, as does the the eight-piece Buffalo shrimp." - Mike Jordan, Beth McKibben

If you want old school ATL wings, Jamal’s is the place to go. We ordered last minute on uber eats & the food was ready before we arrived. The service was friendly, prompt, & the kind older woman gave us two drinks since they were out of what we ordered. The wings were flavorful, crispy, & priced right! Another place nearby was trying to charge dang near $40 for two 10 piece combos - INSANE! Give me the old school prices, good food, & you got a customer for life! I’ll definitely be returning when I’m craving some wings.

Google
We get wings for the whole shop every Wednesday and these are some of the best around. We used to get J.R. crickets until we found Jamal’s. The quality is consistent, the order is correct every time for our large orders, and the sauces are all good. Love the buffalo they use! If you just want some classic crispy wings, this is a great spot. Mary always takes care of us!

Google
I’ve been going to Jamal’s since they were located by the Georgia Dome. They are very consistent in flavor and have good sauces. The prices are decent as well. Even though they have relocated I will continue to support them as long as I’m in Atlanta

Google
I went to this restaurant and ordered a ten piece honey hot combo and there was NO honey at all! Wings was hot AF and I only ate 1 wing out of the ten piece. I went back for a replacement. I was told they don’t do replacements/ OR should I say they will not make their customers satisfied!! There was very poor customer service!! HEADS UP !! If you ever walk into a hot wing restaurant at 3/4 pm in the evening and don’t see not one customer is a BIG RED FLAG!!! It was a waste of my money!

Google
The food was Amazing! Wings were nice and crispy (lemon pepper dry). Fries were good. Customer service was OUTSTANDING! Definitely on my list to go back.

Google
I always order via DoorDash and the food is always good and piping hot. Plenty wing flavors. Well seasoned. Great prices.

Google
The only place I eat wings in Atlanta!! Season to perfection crispy perfect! Black owned wings spot and Imma wash it down with black owned Piege Rosé 🔥✊🏾 I have 20 wings half mild & half mild lemon pepper

Ashley Council

Google
I asked for lemon pepper hot, and they were indeed HOT! I would describe them to others as lemon pepper wet. However you want to describe them, they were tasty. Maybe borderline too spicy for me, even though I tend to add spice to my food. Still enjoyable, though.

Christina S.

Yelp
Food is always hot when I get it and it's bussin. 10/10 must have again. Whoever put bad reviews are some haters.

Yelp
We love Jamals wings and fries. I need to try the other items on the menu but the wings are so dang-on delicious But sometimes the wait is so long. That I pass the place to go to get wings at a faster location but they not 1/2 as good. Jamal Wings are the best but sometimes the wait is too long. ORDERED thru Door dash once and lost my 35.00 order. Will never do that again. But love Jamal Wings on MLK!! 3 I don't give 5 stars unless it is perfect. So...

Yelp
The food was really great. Her attention to detail made the meal so delicious! The service was great, called in and ordered no problem. The news was on and I was comfortable while waiting

Yelp
First off I want to start off by saying wow. THE BEST WINGS I'VE EVER HAD IN LIFE. IF I COULD GIVE IT 10 stars I would. So for my order the bill was 34 dollars. I ordered a 10pc lemon pepper flats with fries and a drink, and a 20pc hot lemon pepper with fries and a drink. Honestly if you think about it 30 wings two orders of fries and drinks for 34 dollars can't beat that. PROS: *Great Customer Service/staff super friendly * The Wings we're fresh and Hot as were the fries since everything is made to order. * The Ghetto Lemonade was literally the best lemonade I've ever tasted I may have diabetes now * The size of the wings were extraordinary. CONS: There are none STRAIGHT UP. Will be returning soon with friends and family. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

Law The O.

Yelp
$16 for 10 wings and fries with no drinks is truly blasphemous. There is no reason a combo should come without the drink, it's also seems that oils is not regularly replaced.
google avatar

Li J.

Yelp
A okay wing place. Nothing special and a bit out of the way location. Definitely not worth the special trip. Food was fresh. Service was good. I may return if in the area and want wings.

Pamela P.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst wings I've ever had! I couldn't even finish them, They were over cooked, dry, and flavorless That's the last time I'm eating from there
google avatar

Leah L.

Yelp
I wanted so bad to like this place but it's just not good. It tastes like it's cooked in old grease. It's just disgusting overall.

Yelp
Amazing food in the cut of the city, friendly service and beautiful decor/paintings. I know where to get my wings and such when I visit again.

Yelp
I had a taste for wings. I made my way to Jamal's and had the spicy lemon pepper wings. They were ok. If you live nearby and want some wings you can get your fix.
google avatar

Yelp
My go to! They ain't gon drop yo wings til you get there so If you do a call in, gotta go but it's not a long wait !
google avatar

Rachel E.

Yelp
I fr LOVE Jamals wings. Im not from ATL, so i looked for good wing spots in the area and came here. Their wings was bombbb and the flavor was all there. Came back 2 more times before leaving back home. This will def be my go to spot anytime i visit ATL again. Service is friendly too!
google avatar

Yelp
Named as one of Creative Loafing's 100 dishes to eat before you die I couldn't resist giving Jamal's Hot Wings a try. At least on this date Jamal's seemed to be a one man operation so the lengthy wait was explainable. And barring their lacking the level of heat I so desired the wings were utter perfection.
google avatar

Sam H.

Yelp
Bless the internet! This is definitely a place that I wouldn't have found otherwise. Its tucked away in the counter of a high rise. Don't worry there are signs on the fence to guide you into the parking. I had heard about Jamal's from a list online and it did not disappoint. Great service from the two ladies behind the counter. Wings were cooked to order. And the star of the show was the seasoning. I ordered the Lemon Pepper wings and they were bathed in seasoning. Consistency in every bite and great size wings. Will definitely go back and try some other flavors. Seating is limited and there is not a bathroom available.
google avatar

Alexus S.

Yelp
Delicious! Wow! Jamal's wings are everything, you hear me?! My first time here was this past Saturday and I was not disappointed. I placed an in-person order and waited for maybe 25 minutes for my order to be prepared and ready. While I was waiting, a few folks came in to pick up their orders, which leads me to believe many people order ahead. The restaurant had tables and places to sit, but it was empty while I was there, so I assume this is a popular to go order only spot. Anywho, I got the 20pc wings (hot lemon pepper) with a side of fries, and everything was served just how I love my wings! Hot, crispy, wet, and small! I'll def be coming back to Jamal's when I am in the mood for hot wings!

Yelp
Visited this place a few years back when they were across the street from the stadium in the little trailer thingy. Can't really remember my experience, but I do remember the wait was FOREVER. I pass the new location in my way to work everyday and decided to give them a try one friday night. Called in my order and went in to pick it up. One thing I really liked is that they waited til we arrived to drop our fries. However, they tasted like they had been fried in the same grease as some fish. I got 20 weeks split. Out of 20 there was like 15 drums. The BBQ wings were good af, definitely would get them again. The lemon pepper weren't bad, but the lemon pepper seasoning didn't really stick to them soooo they were moreso just like just plain fried wings. This was short and sweet, but yeah. Good wings. Will definitely be back. Next time i'll see if they can do all flats.
google avatar

Ciara D.

Yelp
I ordered from Jamal's via Uber Eats. I got the fish and fries combo, which comes with two pieces of whiting, and I also ordered a five-piece lemon pepper wings. My food came out to about $13, which was a pretty good deal, in my opinion. My order arrived on time and was as expected. The fish was seasoned very well and fried to a nice golden brown...crispy, but not overcooked - perfect. The french fries weren't seasoned or salted at all and were a little soggy, but we'll chalk that up to the condensation of the to-go box. The lemon pepper wings were pretty good! They were nice and crispy with a generous amount of lemon pepper seasoning. I was expecting the wings to be a tiiiiny bit bigger, but they were still delicious nonetheless. Jamal's was a solid choice and I will be sure to patronize this business and try some of their other menu items.
google avatar

Heather N.

Yelp
Jamal's was in a trailer in the Papa Johns parking lot across from the Morris Brown dorms. The wings were always flavorful and amazing and when I was pregnant I wanted them all the time..this was 1999-fast forward to 2022 my son was going to Atlanta and on his way to the airport he stopped and got me wings since he had a direct flight! Even reheated in the oven these wings are still amazing! Hands down better than any chain wing place!
google avatar

Vineese H.

Yelp
Super good can't go to ATL without getting wings definitely will be coming back food was quick we literally called it in and he said you can come pick them up now it was no wait I didn't take a picture of my husbands food he had buffalo shrimp, French fries & jerk wings everything was fresh
google avatar

Sharon M.

Yelp
I was deep in the West End but recall this spot from when it was off Northside so made a stop since I was in proximity. The restaurant is in the back of the building so you'll need to pay close attention to the banner to know it's there. I got a 10 piece honey bbq combo (under $10) no drink included though. A tad bit too much sauce but overall it was good. Not my go to spot but why not support if I'm in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious. Quick wing spot with good flavors. They definitely understand "lemon pepper wet"

Yelp
I've been a customer at this restaurant for 2 yrs. As an entrepreneur in the "blk and brown" community I seek to support businesses that are blk owned. There are 2 or 3 women in this restaurant that I've met that are beautiful people and I enjoy speaking with them everytime I come in. They enjoy myself and my children the same as well. Yusuf (The tall man always mainly there, I thought he WAS jamaal) and the other men are really cool. However there is a thin woman there who really irks my soul because something about her is just rude and bitter inside and one other one that i havent seen only order over the phone. I ordered 50 worth of food from there in Jan and then turned around and spent another 40 or 50 a day or so later, the 2nd order had wings that were lemon pepper mild and when my family and I went to eat our dinner the wings were beyond salty, which I had never had that issue before. I called up to the establishment and let both the cook Antonio and the tall guy know that the wings were unedible and super salty. The tall one apologized and offered to replace the wings, it was close to closing that I was going to have to wait until the next day. I had no problem with that. We ate our fish and fries and my neighbor rinsed the wings and gave it to his dog. I had several things to do and I didn't call back until 3 days later. When I called I asked to speak to the guy and this one female acted as though she didn't know who I was speaking of, and said to tell her my issue because she was a manager. I explained, as I have above, and she tells me why didn't I hold onto to the nasty wings and bring them in? I informed her that I called it back in bc 1. I didn't have the time to bring them back in because they were closing and 2. Who keeps food for days just to prove a point? She then says to me well if you had brought them in we could have seen how much salt was on them and gave you a refund or replacement .... never knew you could SEE salt that's blended into the food already So at this point as calm and humble as I'm being, she's being totally rude for no reason at all, and tells me that I would have to speak to the guy later in the day that offered the replacement in the first place, which is who I called and asked for from jump street. She then hangs up in my face. I called several times later in the evening and the rude female just kept hanging up. Today I call in since I have now let a week go by in order to let the crap die down and try again or catch him to avoid her rude ass, and before I could get out my reason for calling she hangs up again. If you have a problem with customer service hire a better equipped representation than yourself to properly handle loyal customers. I'll be reporting to BBB also and anybody else that values customers the way an establishment is supposed to. These females come to work angry being rude! I still have the recording of the other female airing out to customers on the morning shift that she couldn't make pancakes or eggs because the staff never restocks anything for the morning shift so when customers order they have to turn them away and lose money bc the cooks etc are lazy at their jobs. How is that a conversation or grievance that you air out to customers in the store and over the phone when it should be private between the staff and management ? Ghetto that's how! I'm the wrong patron to be disrespectful to because I literally bother nobody and everytime I'm in that place i have great connections with everyone. If she is the owner and handled my family that way for no reason way, she's a witch and that's the reason the establishment isn't where it could be. Be miserable in your own lane and leave the rest of us out of it! Everyone has issues in life, it's no reason to be rude to the very people that come and support your business bffr. Be careful who you mistreat...

Yelp
The ladies in the evening time cant cook if u go later during the night time your sauce will be on point & your wings & fries will be crispy they also will say we dont do that when you ask for certain combinations that the man usually makes customers after 7pm

Yelp
I'm new to Georgia and heard about this place. That they have the most amazing wings in Georgia. So being the foodie that I am and my love for wings I gave it a try. OMG!!!! They were so AMAZING!!!!! Crispy but not crunchy. I had lemon pepper and mild buffalo. They were so flavorful I couldn't eat enough of them. Needless to say I'm a customer for life now! Next time I'm going to see if they can mix the two flavors together! Thank you so much for exceeding my expectations

Jamal S.

Yelp
Visiting from Houston and decided to stop by. Orders 30 wings for me & the fam.. Goid flavor. I'd definitely recommend!!
google avatar

Lowrance H.

Yelp
Best wings in the city: good portions n good prices!! (bigger wings than deli's) I ordered the wing n fries combo and the staff was super cool and welcoming. Food took less than 10 min to make too.... beautiful experience overall!! I'm never going back to baby wing american deli

Isaiah C.

Yelp
The wings were amazing and perfectly cooked. The service was fast and friendly. Very affordable wings as well
google avatar

Daniel H.

Yelp
Some of the best wings in Atlanta! Everything is made fresh. They make all their own sauces. Do yourself a favor and go grab some food right now!!!
google avatar

Stan S.

Yelp
Unfortunately place is slipping. Fries are not crispy, all flats in order not mixed, no ranch or napkins. I hope they fix their issues.
google avatar

Deva C.

Yelp
We are new to the neighborhood and several of our neighbors recommended this spot for wings. We finally gave them a try last night and I wish we didn't wait so long (about 6 weeks). This place has THE BEST lemon pepper wings I've ever had. So friggn good! The buffalo are pretty traditional but there is a little something extra in the sauce. They were great, just overshadowed by the lemon pepper. Add some delicious fries and fried okra and you got one great meal! The ladies in there cooking and taking orders were also super friendly. We told them it was our first time and one lady kept saying "oh, you'll be back! We will see you soon!" Boy was she right!!! This will definitely be a regular spot for us!
google avatar

Ayanna B.

Yelp
Today was my first time trying this place. The wings were GREAT. I'm usually not very impressed by lemon pepper, but these were different... Idk what they're adding to it, but it's damn good. The fries has some seasoning on them, too. Most spots just treat fries as an afterthought. Long story short, I'll be back soon.
google avatar

Joyce B.

Yelp
Great Wings and French fries. Fries was a little salty but overall it was great food. I highly recommend it I found him on yelp. I like good food especially wings
google avatar

Vicki Y.

Yelp
I am really sorry to post a less than stellar review, but since I did give them 5 stars a while back, it's only right that I keep it real. We have eaten out very little since COVID, but yesterday I had a taste for some juicy, delicious wings and knew Jamal's was our go to spot. Unfortunately the food has changed substantially. I don't know if it is new cooks or new management but the wings were not good at all! I was so shocked that they were hard, dry and even the honey barbecue sauce was watery. I do not eat fries, gave mine to my husband and he said they were hard and more like potato chips!! I LOVE having this establishment in my neighborhood. When they first opened I was hopeful they would remain 5 stars. Don't know what has changed, but I wish them well and hope they get it together!!!
google avatar

D. K. C.

Yelp
The wings are amazing. They are not only flavored well but seasons well also. They are made to order so the wait time isn't swift but it is totally worth it. Anytime I am craving wings, Jamal's is my first stop.
google avatar

Shaeyla D.

Yelp
I've always been a fan of Jamal's Wings ever since they were in a little trailer across from what used to be the GA Dome. I love that they are now in a nice fancy building in a (little) safer location for a single, young, black girl to go. Then and now it's amazing and I always go when I get the chance. I knew my best friend was gonna be in town and that it'd be the perfect time to go since we both love it. Having moved into the city I'm closer than ever and that's a little dangerous lol The prices aren't bad either. You can get just wings or a wing (5 or 10 piece) combo w/ fries for $0.50 more. There's also a good amount of flavors to choose from. Side note: if you want ranch it can be wet or dry seasoning. I've had both and I personally like the wet better but both are yum yum yummy! I've never had anything else there other than the wings and fries but I don't doubt they're also amazing. Everything is cooked to order which is another thing I love. The service is efficient and so nice. Hands down the best wings I've ever had in Atlanta in my opinion.
google avatar

Allegra D.

Yelp
Someone else ordered all flats so I got all drummies.... annoying. Super salty, over cooked. It's a no.
google avatar

Nate C.

Yelp
I am a fan of Jamal's wings from back in '94 when he was positioned by the GA Dome. This new location has some potential but I haven't been to visit in many years. I was looking forward to the new spot. I think they had been here at this location for about (I'm guessing) less than a year? It was not a good experience the chicken appeared to be a lower quality than most hot wing locations in the radius. They looked like they were reheated or retried - flavor lacked the anticipation my desire.
google avatar

Sallina G.

Yelp
Wow -fries crispy and already tossed in the perfect amount of seasoning salt. Fish was fried to perfection. Ranch wings were a 10/10. Hot with lemon pepper sprinkles 10/10. I'll be back.
google avatar

Brent C.

Yelp
This place always caught my eye when passing it on the interstate especially since it was in the side of a building. I finally stopped by, and it was more than worth it. The lemon pepper wings are amazing.
google avatar

Amaryllia L.

Yelp
I live nowhere near downtown but was in the area for a meeting. As everyone has already mentioned, this place is located on Martin Luther King Jr if that says anything about the sketch factor ;) but after all these raving reviews I just HAD to stop by and check it out! I show up at 10pm on a Wednesday night. It was maybe 50 degrees out and drizzling rain. I walk up to the shack and look inside...no one there. I look around for a another minute, check out the menu, etc and then a girl jumps out of a Camry that's parked next to the shack and yells "here I am!" LOL. I don't blame her I guess, it's quite cold to be standing inside an essentially outdoor food stand when there's nothing happening on a Wednesday night. I ask her what their best sellers are and she says Lemon Pepper, Hot, and oh, BBQ. I decide to get 5 Lemon Pepper as suggested and 5 Hot (since they don't have Medium, which is what I normally go for). Also opted to get fries last minute so my total came to $9.19 I talk to her a little while she's making my wings and found out that she has been working here since it opened 16 years ago, her aunt owns this place, and Jamal is her aunt's son. I tell her that people on Yelp love these wings and that they should consider expanding the store or adding a delivery option but she said they can't afford it because her aunt works as a teacher for Special Ed kids... I was so close to offering up a huge donation towards that effort or creating a partnership with her when I realized that I didn't have that kind of money to give away and that I'm just here for some wings! So I get my wings and fries (celery and ranch were included without me asking for them, which was a nice surprise), put them on my passenger seat, and start my 12-mile drive home. I normally have no problem waiting until I get home no matter what take-out I have but the lemon pepper and french fries smelled so good that I just HAD to taste one fry. Wow, they were easily the best fries I've ever had in my life! It could be that I've just never had fries THAT freshly fried or it could be the bits of lemon pepper from the wings that got on the fries, but long story short, I ate 85% of the fries AND 4 wings on the way home. As for the wing flavors: * Lemon Pepper: a bit on the salty side but no saltier than lemon pepper wings from any other place, super lemony, and strangely addicting. imagine wings sprinkled with the lemon pepper seasoning that you can get at grocery stores and then dip those wings in lemon juice, that's what they tasted like. as a matter of fact, that could be the exact case because there was clear lemon juice at the bottom of the box when I got home and i started dipping my hot-flavored wings in it. * Hot: pretty tasty even though it's a bit too spicy for a girl that normally eats Mediums. I made it to 3 and was more than happy to save the other 2 for lunch the next day. They also have seafood options on the weekends (like fried fish and buffalo shrimp) so I'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Christopher P.

Yelp
Hot wings + crunchy wings + saucy wings = This place has the best hot wings in the A! I'm not sure how your like your wings but if you like them like I do (see equation above), this place does it right! The guy running the place was super nice and was able to cook up 140 wings in about half an hour. It's a shack of a place, no place to sit, so eat in your car or on your car. I think they're open late on the weekends so it's probably a good place to grab some grub after a game. BEST FUCKING WINGS EVER!
google avatar

Beyunka R.

Yelp
It was my first time trying Jamal's it was decent...let's just say it's not my go to place
google avatar

Austin C.

Yelp
Jamal's wings are by far some of the best wings I've had in Atlanta. If you have never had lemon pepper, or GOOD lemon pepper wings, this is the place to be! My rating is really based on how tasty the wings are, not the timing or service. This spot is right across from the Georgia Dome in a small immobile truck. There's usually the same guy there and he is a hell of a cook. There's no seating and sometimes the parking lot is full. Don't expect a timely meal and bring cash! A 10 piece combo is a little over 9$ and you'll be very satisfied. It takes forever to get the order, and they might not smile back but the wings are on a whole other level. You can also score a 5$ pizza from the papa johns by it if you catch a runner leaving their place.
google avatar

Ben H.

Yelp
These are probably tied with Fox Bros. dry smoked wings as my favorite wings in town. To be honest I haven't had wings at dozens of places, but these wings are quite tasty. They are fairly spicy and covered with red pepper and garlic which is a little out of the ordinary (in a good way). I would also echo Robert M.'s criticism of the sauce - there's just way too much of it! The fries are pretty good if you eat them when they are fresh, but they get soggy if you take them to-go. They are standard quality fries, but they have a lot of seasoning on them which makes them taste pretty good. The celery and blue cheese were both pretty sub-par, but I wouldn't expect anything more really. Overall, it's good, cheap, and definitely worth checking out. 4

Yelp
The homemade jerk sauce and homemade ranch sauce is amazing. And Steve is easy on the eyes. I'd come back, most definitely.
google avatar

Marie H.

Yelp
At first glance, you wouldn't think much of Jamal's Buffalo Wings; it's located at a parking lot next to a Papa Johns and a pawn shop. But if you're up for adventures and love whole in the wall kind of places, boy, this truly is a place you HAVE to try out. The wings are cooked to perfection, a nice glaze on the outside and soft, tender insides. I ordered a 10 wings + fries combo with my friend for lunch and we were both delighted. We had half lemon pepper wings and half sweet and sour. Delicious. There's no place to sit so do keep it in mind, but really, it's no big deal. The food is truly amazing and you won't think twice after having a taste. Definitely going back sometime! It makes me glad little places like these exist! Truly a gem to find.

Yelp
It's Friday, and I'm feeling saucy...Buffalo saucy that is. And after lunch at Jamal's, you would be hard pressed to NOT be covered in the delicious, zingy, multi-layered flavor (homemade?) hot sauce with which his hot wings are liberally doused. At first bite, I thought the juicy wings were on the mild side, but the burn gradually built up as I scarfed those little birdies down, till I was gulping down diet coke and blue cheese dressing by wing #10. It seems from some recent reviews that Jamal isn't doing call ahead orders anymore because some people never showed to claim their orders, but since there was no line at 12noon, we barely had to wait ten minutes before our piping hot wings were ready to cart back to the office. I think the ten minute drive encased in styrofoam steamed the wings a little bit, reducing the crispy factor, but it certainly didn't diminish the flavor or the value. For thirty wings and a double order of blue cheese and celery, we paid just over $19 and had a bountiful lunch two people could barely finish. The location is as sketchy as every previous reviewer has mentioned, but we only got hit up for change once. Jamal was so gracious and his food so good that I can easily agree to overlook the panhandlers looking for a free MARTA fare.
