Jamjuree - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Jamjuree is a great Thai spot to keep in mind when you’re walking up and down 15th Avenue looking for a place that has a table available. The restaurant is full of cozy booths and kind of feels like a neighborhood coffee shop, only instead of scones and lattes, they serve panang curry and Thai iced tea. Don’t miss the pad thai, which they serve with a thin layer of egg over the top that you mix up yourself. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Google
This is some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had in the states. We had the tofu special (instead of the chicken special), the tamarind entree, and the pad Thai. All were incredibly unique, with a depth of flavor and quality of ingredients that is hard to find most places. The rice was even good enough to eat by itself. Highly recommend! So glad we checked it out when we were in town and will definitely be back next time we’re in Seattle.

Google
I had an excellent meal today. Consisting of crab rangoon, pot stickers, and a glass of Chang beer. The server Niim was extremely friendly and made the day better. I Loved it.

Google
Real talk this is one of our favorite places in the neighborhood and have been ordering from them for six years now. It doesn’t feel ideal to give you a 3 star rating but here’s why. We’ve done a variety of dine in and take out and on average the food is typically very good during the week, but we’ve been noticing any time we’re ordering over the weekend that everything is really watered down. For example the fresh roll peanut sauce and the curry is much thinner. We noticed a huge discrepancy in the quality of the food and just would like ownership to know that this is noticeable and it’s a real missed opportunity to keep clients who order with frequency happy whether on the weekend or not. Other thing we’ve been noticing lately is that the food & safety rating from the city is on the lower end and that does concern us. Jamjuree we want to keep you in our rotation so please take this into consideration.

Google
I recently dined at this restaurant and had a pleasant experience. The prices here are quite budget-friendly, which is a big plus. The atmosphere is relaxed and chill, making it a great spot to unwind. The food, while good, tends to have a very mild taste. If you're someone who enjoys strong flavors, I recommend asking the staff to add more sauce or seasoning to your dish. This simple adjustment can make a significant difference in your dining experience.

Google
My friend and I were the only customer for at least half a hour and the service was still horrible. Had to chase them down for check, boxes, water, and hot sauce. Food was tasty so will be back. Also lunch combo is valid on weekends. This is rare as most are only on weekdays. The lunch combo is a good value. The food does come out slow. The two stars here isn't spicy at all ( about sirracha level).

Google
Come here for the atmosphere. This place has tons of potential, but they are missing some important elements. You can tell a lot by ordering the tea! Ordered the Pad Gra Pow chicken with brown rice, Angel Asparagus, Calamari, Tom Ka soup, & Jasmine Tea. The tea came out in a nice ornate, albeit tiny iron pot really meant for a single serving. It also came warm & not really hot at all. And that really explains this place -- looks good, but nothing that stands out. Everything that came out would miss a little detail-- tea, was pretty but came out luke warm & bitter; Calamari came out crispy but it tasted like dry chicken nuggets; Pad Gra Pow, egg & brown rice was dry; Angel Asparagus, tasted great but the color was flat & the food luke warm. So the service had the same misses. The waitress was very sweet, remembered to remove the bell pepperd as asked but forgot that we asked for chopsticks. As the food came out without chopsticks, I ended up having to snag a to-go set on my own. They gave us cheap, clear plastic, dollar-store to-go container with a plain paper bag. Did they want us to tip AND work? "Missing the attention to detail" is my impression of this restaurant. Just check the menu & look for "say sauce" and "prok (*pork)" -- you won't be able to unsee it. Midas 5-stars - for the atmosphere & kind service. Midas 3-stars - for the misses on the detail.

Google
Portions were large and prices were so reasonable. 2 apps and 3 mains for less than $100 and all four of us are full! Great accommodations for gluten free and vegetarian.

Google
We tried this restaurant in Seattle and by far the best thai food we had. We ordered fresh rolls, papaya salad, Jamjuree fried rice, and pad kee mao noodles. The place was not crowded and the staff was nice and courteous. Lots of vegetarian/vegan options, and they are open for customization. We went on weekday and lots of folks had ordered take outs. Pricing wise very reasonable.

Yelp
We make it a point to visit Jamjuree every time we visit Seattle. It was one of our many stops on our 1st date. This place has several booths and tables. We ordered Pad See Ew, Pad-Thai (both chicken and a 1 star spice level), and some gyozas. Everything was just as delicious as we remembered it. I just wish they would've added some spice to our food. They literally had no spiciness to it at all (they didn't add any Thai chilis to it). Luckily we were able to get some Thai chili oil. The service was also great. They were attentive and friendly.

Yelp
Food is good, I have ended up here several times because it's geographically convenient. The service is always slowish, so stop in when you have time to wait. They used to have reasonably priced wine at $8 but recently raised it to $10. So, the wine part is a bummer because it's the same cheap tasting wine but now at a higher price. I appreciate the hand sanitizer available at every table. The seating is comfortable enough and the lights are just the right amount of bright to be relaxing.

Yelp
I ordered a green curry with chicken and Thai iced coffee. It was a wonderful experience. Servers were very kind and thoughtful! Something my friend pointed out is that there was a really great bar that was stacked with a lot of liquors, but it wasn't really featured in the menu. Really happy with the food, and the experience! Excited to go back again!

Yelp
SOOO GOOD ! a great atmosphere for a date night due to low lighting and friendly fast service :). So many veggie options : the tofu pad see ew was Amazing - I dream about it. And don't forget the veggie jamjuree fried rice. Yum yum in my tum tum.

Yelp
Absolutely horrendous slop. My Uber eats order from this restaurant arrived, and it looked like a greasy flattened pancake instead of Pad Thai. I would ask for a refund if I could, because this was in 22 years of being in Seattle the absolute worst Pad Thai I have ever had. If you can even call it that. Dripping in grease and absolutely tasteless. I took four bites and threw it away. For all the options in Seattle avoid this place at all costs.
google avatar

Yelp
Another Capitol Hill gem. I love thai food and there's always vegetarian options to be found. Service was prompt and even for a Saturday night. It was a pretty good turn around on the service. I got the turmeric noodles which I was a little hesitant about. Because tumor can get very better. this was on point and one of the best dishes with turmeric is the main ingredient that I've ever had. It was nicely spiced. But I can always use a little more heat because people hold back for Americans. They brought me the spice tray. And I was able to heat it up quite nicely. A good portion size and I had some to take home. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great Thai for takeout and small groups for ambiance. Best orange chicken and garlic lover on this side of Seattle. Very nice staff. Happy to have them in our neighborhood.

Yelp
This is our go to for thai food. We always dine in and the staff is friendly. Sometimes it takes a while before we can place our order but the food is worth the wait.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious Thai food and reasonably priced, too. So glad Jamjuree is still part of Capitol Hill.

Bernard D.

Yelp
Tom Kha is the perfect soup for a fall afternoon, paired with your favorite Thai dish. The staff is warm and welcoming. The restaurant is cozy and pleasant.

Yelp
This Thai restaurant wasn't one of my favorites. Perhaps we didn't order the correct things on the menu but it wasn't my cup of tea. The chicken lime sesame was disappointing- it looks like they poured sauce over chicken breast and called it good. The flavor was not balanced and was too overwhelming with the sauce. Roti was a bit too starchy and the curry was too liquidy and bland. I think the papaya salad saved the day- had decent flavor and good crunchy texture from the salad- a component which is important for papaya salad! Service from waiters was good- they're friendly but nothing out of the ordinary. Ambiance is decent, good seats and reminiscent of a diner.

Yelp
I went in for lunch on Monday with my parents and the tables were sticky, the air conditioning unit leaked on customers, and the waitress was too busy eating in the kitchen to take our order so we just walked out and went somewhere else.

Yelp
Jamjuree has really gone downhill since it was sold to new owners. I have been eating there for over 25 years, and loving it. Also I used to get take-outs a lot. Both the service and the food has deteriorated. The last time I dined there, we ordered an appetizer of egg rolls and a main course. While we were waiting for the server to take our order, some well-dressed people walked into the restaurant and into the kitchen-I suspect they were the new owners. The food was delayed and the appetizers were never brought to the table. When the main course arrived, I noticed that the vegetables were on one side of the plate, they were not mixed up with the seafood, but just bland tasting and steamed. It didn't taste very good. This evening, we ordered take-outs. The egg rolls were very gummy and greasy, not light and crispy like they were before. Again, the vegetables had just been steamed and thrown in with the seafood, and some spice added, which actually ended up in chunks caught in the seafood and not spread around. I don't know what the new owners are thinking-they bought an excellent restaurant, with great food, good service so why change things, why keep people waiting. I doubt whether I will go there again.!

Yelp
Came today ordered pad sew eww really fast service very delicious dont mind coming back bring my family and friends

Yelp
A great spot on Capitol Hill Pad Thai with taste of tamarin, yummy green and red curry. Crispy Chili tofu is my all time favorite. Best value for Thai Ice Tea.

Yelp
Great food, freshly made. We ordered curry, brown rice, and noodle dishes at medium spice. It was delicious, with servings so generous we had leftovers. Service was prompt and friendly. We would definitely come back here again.

Yelp
Wow! We discovered our new favorite place for Thai food. We ordered to go this super sad I was too hungry to take a good picture. The mid point of eating pics will do. 1. Flavor was complex and not too salty 2. Veggies were cooked to perfection and kept separated so they don't get soggy or overcooked 3. Portion is good for the price. Again, I super appreciate the separated veggies in our to-go orders 4. Service was efficient, communication was clear 5. High Recommend the curry, papaya salad, crispy chicken Would absolutely love to come back for dine in experience! Highly recommend for take out too because they packaged the food so well that it tastes super fresh still!!!

Yelp
Okay low key this is one of my FAVORITE places for Thai now, and that says a lot because we have amazing Thai food in cap hill and in Seattle in general. Their menu holds some interesting specials and are very well priced for the portion - wash it down with an ice cold Tsing Tao and you are in for a treat! Favorites include Crispy Garlic Tofu, spring rolls (they are giant!), and pad kee mao. Pad see ew was also great but the kee mao was preferred for flavor and all the great veggies they add like baby corn!! Keep it up!!
google avatar

Yelp
A super tasty Thai spot located right in Cap Hill. It was super easy to order takeout and the staff was very nice -- I ordered over phone and picked up and paid in-store. It's a short walk from Volunteer Park so ate my food there too! I got the Pad Ki Mow and Thai Tea and both were really great. The Pad Ki Mow was really flavorful and had the perfectly chewy noodle. The Thai tea was also super refreshing and yummy without being overly sweet. The portions are pretty large too, so I had some leftovers after the meal.
google avatar

Yelp
Still a Great Thai spot in Capitol Hill and nice vibe. Staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Authentic taste plus a variety of dishes make for a memorable meal.

Yelp
My happy place on the Hill. Jamjuree is an excellent place to be alone...in fact, I've only dined here once with someone else. It's a prime spot for people-watching if you grab a window table. It's also a perfect snacking spot if you're in the mood for something small before dinner. I always get the fresh rolls, which are indeed very fresh and come with tofu, veggies and rice noodles with peanut sauce and a light salad on the side. I pair that with one of their local beers on tap, which changes every so often (on my most recent visit I got the Maritime Pilsner). The best part is that the beer comes with the most delightful little bowl of salted peanuts with green onion slices. I can confirm this is the most underrated and satisfying drinking snack ever! Don't be afraid to go alone!

Whitney D.

Yelp
So disappointing. Was excited based off the reviews. Ordered phad Thai with tofu- on the website it says "thin rice noodles" but it's actually glass noodles, not typical phad Thai ones. This gave it a super mushy texture and it doesn't taste like it was pan seared. Also overly sweet. They never asked for a spice level and there was zero spice. So sad. Waste of $20. No wonder the place was so empty when I picked up my to go order.

Carlos T.

Yelp
Wanted to try it for the first time but they never took my order after more than 15 minutes waiting. First they took 10+ minutes to give me a menu, and after 15+ minutes they took the order of a table next to me that just came in a couple minutes prior. The restaurant was not even half full, awful service, I ended up walking away.
google avatar

Lucy C.

Yelp
I got the lunch combo, which is available even on weekends. It included a tofu pad thai and a curry/entree of choice with white or brown rice. I got a chicken Panang curry with brown rice and it was pretty good. I think the pad thai was a bit too sweet for my taste and lacking in vegetables, but the curry was great. It's not too spicy although you might be able to ask them to change the spice level. Overall, the portion size is pretty generous and you get a good variety with the combo.
google avatar

Luba K.

Yelp
Horrible experience. Ordered a few dishes through postmates based on the amazing reviews...do not make the same mistake I did. We ordered a few pad thais, 2 curries, sides of rice, a peanut sauce and a side of hot sauce. On every item ordered, I wrote the same note: no onions/scallions. The funny part is that the ticket makes it look like the note was taken well into account, but actually every item had both scallions and white onions in the dish. Upon opening the bags, it smelled like truly rotten fish. I thought I was sensitive but all 5 of my friends confirmed and these dishes went straight to the garbage. Best part? No hot sauce at all. DO NOT GO. I wish I didn't waste $80+ and over an hour wait to be left hangry and annoyed. PS. I have never seen pad Thai look like that. So nasty.

Yelp
Birthday girl was craving Thai food, so we pulled up this spot as it was nearby Spacious restaurant and good service Food: Papaya salad spicy level 4-this was the first thing that came out and we were impressed. Tastes just like home made for me. Perfect balance of sweet, savory, sour, and spicy. Roti-I wasnt feeling the curry it was very sweet and coconut-y the roti itself could've been fried better as it was soggy with lots of oil. Yellow curry-it was ok on the sweeter side Pad Thai- looked interesting because the egg on too so we ordered. Omgggg overly sweet. I felt like I was eating sugar. Pad kee mao- the flavors were different from other Thai places. Tasted more like Chinese fried noodles flavors vs Thai flavors. Overall, this restaurant has flavors on the sweeter side. It was just a tad to sweet for my liking.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years. Good food. Solid atmosphere. Try the Limelight Chicken

Yelp
We got takeout from Jamjuree for dinner tonight and it was amazing! Some of the best Thai I have had in Seattle. The Pad Ki Mao was so flavorful and had a great array of vegetables. The noodles were also cooked really well. I got a 4/5 spice level (I have a pretty high spice tolerance) and it was definitely on the higher end of a 4 star spice rating so be cautious. On another note, I really appreciated how accommodating the staff was with this being a vegetarian meal. They removed the fish sauce and oyster sauce yet the sauce was still so flavorful and tasty unlike a quick soy sauce replacement. They were also speedy with the order, the price was super reasonable, and the portions were large. We'll definitely be back!!
google avatar

Derek B.

Yelp
What was a great restaurant seems now to cater to Uber Eats and Door Dash etc. Don't expect to be treated differently because you actually visited the restaurant. Not sure I'll return again? Still waiting for my food. There are more car delivery people in the place than there are patrons now.

Yelp
I don't know why it's so hard for find a good Thai place in Seattle! After doing much research, I decided to try Jamjuree out because I was curious about the whole covered in egg pad Thai. The pad Thai was eh. It was fine. I asked for 3/4 stars and it wasn't spicy at all! Red pepper flakes at home does the trick though. But it was not that flavorful. It was very bland. You do get a HUGE portion which is always nice for leftovers for lunch the next day. Even though it wasn't flavorful, it was nice that it wasn't too wet or sweet like some other Thai places. The Tom yum soup was 10/10 though so good so flavorful. And for getting a cup, there was quite a few shrimp in there
google avatar

Gavriella S.

Yelp
Excellent food! The papaya salad was perfect and the Rama chicken had the BEST flavor! The service was exemplary and very fast and courteous. The restaurant was clean and inviting.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
I had lunch here last week and ordered the pad see yew with beef. It was delicious and enough for two meals. Will be back!
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
This place was lovely! Got a delicious Bluemoon on draft and two bowls of the Tom Yum noodles. Very reasonably priced. Seafood tasted excellent! Five star yup thank you.
google avatar

Alyssa B.

Yelp
Plenty of options on the menu, this is our go to takeout spot for Thai food. The apps and entrees are consistently great. Wonderful meat options and tons of vegan options make this a wonderful spot. I've enjoyed all of the curries and other entrees. And portions are plentiful enough for lunch the next day. They're always so friendly and responsive. Very health conscious and clean.
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
Take out was easy. They have an open spot outside the shop for picking up. The Talay salad was phenomenal! I LOVE THOSE FLAVORS- so refreshing, so flavorful, so delicious! The pad thai was pretty yummy, felt extra wet, and the noodles were juicier than anticipated. The pad kee mao noodles congealed onto themselves and formed a big clump, and the overall flavors of the pad kee mao were a little bland. Fortunately, I was able to use the excess sauce from the Talay salad to add a bit of ZING to the pad kee mao. I will definitely be back from that Talay salad.
google avatar

ApuSri D.

Yelp
The food is tasty with good portions. The staff were kind enough to accommodate our request for less oil. Parking can be a challenge depending on time of the day. The place itself is a bit dated but well maintained.
google avatar

Yi H.

Yelp
It was more of 3.5 than 3 stars. Came here for takeout lunch, my boy friend and I had Pad See You, Pad Ki Mao, Fresh Roll and Tom Yum Soup with soft tofu. As we have tried so many different Thai places in Seattle, I think it was pretty standard but better than average, hence 3.5 stars. What stood out to me was that the soft tofu was actually soft.... or softer comparing to some other Thai restaurants in the city. The lady who worked there was really friendly and nice, I know it sounds basic, but after ordering many takeout food in the city, it's not always given.
google avatar

Daryl W.

Yelp
We happened to pass by this one, which was off the beaten route. We decided to give it a shot soon. For a relaxing weekend meal. We ordered a wide range of foods. Pad See Ew with Yellow Curry have a beautiful and delectable flavor. We were pleasantly delighted by the quality of each item. So I retract my previous statement: Simply Thai is an excellent Thai restaurant!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Tom kha is the best soup by far. Sour and creamy, it was hearty and great. Kao soi is awesome as well which was savory with the curry broth with crispy noodles. The pad Thai is unique with a thin veil of egg wrapping the noodles and the flavor is nice as well, which has a good balance of sweet and spicy and tart. Service is good, the atmosphere is nice, I came here three times in one week and each time was as good as the last.
google avatar

Mei W.

Yelp
I was expecting a lot from this place based on the rating and the reviews but I was disappointed. Upon entering, the interior was really nice and there was outdoor seating which was a plus for such a nice day like today, so of course we took those seats. We ordered hot wings, chicken pad Thai, and chicken massaman curry. And of course, Thai tea which heats the spot. The hot wings were pretty good with a slight sweet taste to it. The pad Thai didn't taste like other pad thais. The flavor was more light and it was okay. The egg was a nice add on though. The massaman curry could have been better too. The sauce was too thick and heavy. The taste was just okay too. I thought it'd be better because it was mentioned in the reviews a lot. Last but not least, the service was so slow. I had to come up to the front myself to get our check and boxes. Felt like they forgot about us. Oh yeah, there was also this pesky bee that wouldn't leave our food alone... -_-
google avatar

Sam K.

Yelp
This meal was FAN-static. The pad thai is the best pad thai I have ever had (and I have had quite a few pad thais in my days). Note - you can order tofu steamed or fried - an amazing option for folks who prefer different tofu preparations. We also got the panang curry with shrimp, which was very flavorful and a satisfying portion. The prices are reasonable for the portions. Note that the rice does not come free with the dishes (it is ~$3 extra). Overall 5/5 and would definitely return

Yelp
Another Horrible story to tell you guys before considering to come here. Horrible service and food!!!! Can't believe how this place claimed to 4stars?! We ordered Phi tai and chili chicken to go. Waited up to 40mins, it's finally came. It was not at a busy time in the restaurant. We were happy until we opened the to go box, there is chili tofu instead of our order chili chicken. I called them immediately and told them you guys messed up my order. The guy who picked up phone was very rude, same sh*t in the restaurant. I've attached a picture of chili tofu. Horrible taste, lots of soy sauce as you can see. Can not see the dish color, everything is black. Rice was very hard. Phi tai was away to sweet, the rice noodles was not fully cooked. Overall, We didn't like this place and the food. NOT recommended!!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
My #1 all time fave Thai restaurant in Seattle. The food is consistently amazing. The service could use a bit of work, but to me the food makes up for it.
google avatar

Maureen M.

Yelp
I hadn't been to Jamjuree in years-- but stopped in this weekend for lunch. The food is still solidly good, but the reason for this review is the service. Service was pretty wonderful--friendly and attentive-- and I left thinking what a finely oiled machine they are. I also love it that they have booths--and unlike the new trend of jamming tables in on top of each other-- it's really pleasant to have a little space from other dinners. Bravo, Jamjuree.
google avatar

Daniel Z.

Yelp
Nice Thai spot around cap hill! I got the Talay salad (seafood salad - highly recommend!) and roti as appetizers. I also had the rainbow trout w/ garlic (fried fish over a bed of spinach), the rama (peanut sauce on chicken over a bed of spinach), and the Massaman curry. My favorite entree was either the rama or the massaman curry, and I definitely recommend if you want something more filling!

Yelp
Setting: This is normally a sit down restaurant with a lot of seats. It is especially good for big groups as we go here often for work meals. Currently due to COVID, they are doing take out only. Food I have tried the following: Grilled Satay - 4/5 Hot wings - 4/5 Crispy Chili Chicken - 5/5, a specialty here! Pad Thai - 4.5/5 Pad Kee Mao - 5/5 Thai tea - 5/5 Value: Pretty fairly priced compared to other Thai restaurants in the sitting. The portions are pretty large and can easily be turned into two meals. Service: It is always good! The staff are very friendly and accomodating. Other: Pretty standard above average Thai place in Seattle. We go back frequently when we have cravings for Thai food.

Jack H.

Yelp
Food was excellent service was terrible. My friend had the yellow curry and I had the oyster sauce dish. Both dishes were flavorful without being over salted or spiced. That said, we sat down at 7 and the food didn't come out until almost 7:40.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
All I can say is seriously amazing curry. I'm a curry fiend. I make it and crave it all day. If I could I would eat it everyday for the rest of my life. So it only made sense for me to order the Panang Curry with tofu. It has basil, carrots, bell peppers, and broccoli in it. The curry is nothing like I've had at other Thai restaurants. The sauce is rich and not overly sweet. I had the four star but it wasn't spicy at all. Normally, I would be irritated but to be honest I didn't miss the spice. The sauce was flavorful enough. I came here during lunch on a weekday. Might be a different story during dinner but we shall see. You get a salad and soup before the meal. The soup actually reminds me of something my grandma used to make which made me nostalgic lol. The service was great. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. I actually felt like I was at a family dinner. Next time I want to try some of the noodle dishes and Khao Soi. Summer body here I come, yo!

Yelp
PROLOGUE unlike other food reviewers on this site i am fully sentient and recommend slurping these noodles at maximum speed if you like flavor and rollercoasters. i refuse to bore you with tales of how things were better in the past or claim i am uniquely qualified to think on paper. THE DISH my pad thai noodles were swaddled in an egg blanket as if a mother wished to keep her tot both warm and trapped in flavor for later consumption. i had never heard of a quiche with noodle insides but now i've heard of everything - i've even heard of nine types of dabbing. THE PROCESS i like a restaurant that doesnt tell me how to nut my food and was overjoyed at the chance to do so with a handsome wrist flourish. to put in a way the whole family will understand: i looked like a man from a viral video and that is the highest non-military honor i've learned of. also i was pleased to find that tucked within the noodle bed there was a firm wetness throughout the dish that helped it slip easily past my strong teeth. (and no offense i am not into dudes) HEAT DEATH the food as it were was as spicy as perhaps some moon dust might be.. however it came with a thick red harvest that heated it up at least to the level of neptune or another lesser planet it was like a bathtub for peppers but the peppers were tiny babys and needed to be tasted with kid gloves. i hope one of those imageries is clear. needless to say my tongue lived to taste the sweet tang of lip gloss evermore. DISAPPOINTMENTS AND FALSE ERRORS i was so intent on trying the spring rolls that i even paid for them - but alas my clumsy errand boy apparently dropped them down denny and a rat now eats my carnal desire. now i can olny assume that they were diced to a correct thickness for man or beast. LESSONS my advice to the master chef: the only way to browbeat white people into spicy adventure is by blunt force - not training wheels made of wonder bread. also noodles should be built with durability in mind and thats the one thing my uncle taught me before dying in two wars.
