"Easily the most well known of Santa Clara’s Korean barbecue specialists, Jang Su Jang (which also has a second location in Milpitas) is considered by some to be the quintessential local spot for tabletop grilling. (Michelin, for instance, has long recommended the spot in its Bay Area guide.) Beyond the parade of meats, the restaurant also offers solid versions of all the standards — tofu stews, cold buckwheat noodles, and the like." - Luke Tsai

Opinion Worth a Thought

Came here for team lunch. It took a while for the server to come by and take our order. Also took a while to get our food We ordered a few appetizers and some entrees. Food tasted great. Good portion size for the price

The quality of meat is amazing and good part of KBBQ at this place is that the server cooks the food and you just have to eat. They have some good sides and some of them are useless. The seafood pancake was the highlight. The steak was also amazingly cooked. Overall one of the finest KBBQ restaurants in the area.

Came by for a Thursday dinner at 6PM. We ordered: -seafood pancake $29: pricey, wasn't as crispy as I would like -ddeok bokki $23: also pricey, flavors were ok -jangsujang bossam $55: flavors were good -JSJ BBQ combo $150 Side dishes were very good. Food overall was good, but nothing spectacular. The pricing is a bit extra...for what you get. Value-wise, definitely a knock. Easy parking in the plaza.

Great quality and healthy food, with a wide range of flavorful side dishes. The variety offered is impressive, ensuring that there's something for everyone, whether you're looking for light, fresh options or something more substantial. The dishes are thoughtfully prepared with attention to detail, and the sides are not just an afterthought—they complement the main meal perfectly. Highly recommended for those who enjoy balanced, nutritious meals with plenty of variety.

Google
Food was priced moderately- taste was good. This rating is for the service- maybe it’s because of the time I went to eat - at like 3:00–but I wasn’t greeted for a while - no one brought us water- when I asked for a bit more of one banchan it was just a flat out No- it wasn’t a friendly place and made me feel like I wasn’t welcome so I for sure won’t come back. I love Korean places and lived in Korea for a couple years - surprised by the lack of hospitality.

Google
Authentic high quality Korean foods. Delicious foods with excellent service. I ordered short rib barbecue which served with rice, salad, and many little dishes on the side. The kimchi soup (tofu soup with beef) was also very authentic and delicious.

Google
Enjoyed my takeout order. The only thing missing was that there were no appetizer Korean dishes or kimchi included with the to-go order.

Foods are really good. I would give 4 1/2 stars if I can. Parking is good. I try other dishes. Do recommend it.

Yelp
I visited on a Monday and was pleasantly surprised to find no line. We were seated and served quickly, which set the tone for a great dining experience. We ordered the tofu soup, and it was absolutely delicious--served piping hot and perfectly satisfying. They also bring out 10 side dishes (plenty for two people) along with hot tea, which was a lovely touch. Although the tofu soup may look small in photos, it's surprisingly filling. The service was efficient and friendly, and the waitstaff made sure everything was taken care of. I also appreciated the spacious layout of the restaurant--it felt comfortable and not cramped like some other spots. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely return to Jang Su Jang!

Yelp
Food is good, but it doesn't taste as good with their rude servers. Super stingy on their side dishes and gave me attitude when I would ask for a refill. I asked for more on ONE side dish so they wouldn't have walk back and forth so much, but they gave me the same amount/less, with an extra side of annoyance. Ambiance, obviously according to what I just experienced, not as good as it could be. I may have just got a bad server, but I probably won't come back after this experience. Food isn't worth the experience.

Yelp
I used to enjoy going to Jang Su Jang on El Camino Real. It was one of the first few Korean restaurants in the area with a good sized space and an inviting atmosphere. In the beginning, the food was excellent, but over the years, it has become just okay. The side dishes are decent, though nothing particularly special. That said, I still really like their yookgaejang and mandooguk, and I wouldn't mind going there with a group. However, with more Korean restaurants opening along El Camino Real, I now have more options to choose from which is definitely a good thing!

Yelp
I had a solo lunch today and I was about to go across the street to the pho place but I thought oh! What if i get noodles at jangsujang! Boy, ordering a $23 bibimnyunmyun, they brought out 9 panchans. They were all great! My meal was quick and service was good. Overall with tip it was under $30. Not bad! I couldn't finish all the noodles but finished all the panchan! Yum! They gave me a To go bowl for my left overs. I really enjoyed this nutritious meal.

Yelp
If you want top quality KBBQ, Jang Su Jang is your spot to go! On the more expensive side, but you get the better quality meat and the nice Korean aunties cooking your meat for you. The seafood pancake here is a must, and with the orders of meat you also get a steamed egg and small soybean soup. Ask for the lettuce wraps and you can feel a bit healthier eating all the meat! The banchan is also always on point - always fresh side dishes and every time you come there is a variety, depending on the day. Overall, A+ spot for KBBQ!!

Yelp
What's going on with this shopping center? It's like dead. All boarded up except for this restaurant and possibly another one a thousand feet a way. Creepy. This is part of a chain of a high-end Korean restaurant. They do both Korean BBQ and normal dishes. We came for a lunch, not doing BBQ. Must say it was mediocre. Nothing to complain and nothing that was impressive. Particularly disappointed at the famed seafood pancake. Really mediocre in texture, ingredients, and the final delivery. Seafood Soon Tofu was quite enjoyable. LA Galbi was very good. Bibimbop was a looker, but not that great.

Miranda L.

Yelp
One of my friend's favorite Korean restaurants in the area and I was so excited to try it. They had a variety of traditional dishes from tofu soups to noodles to bbq meats. They had some bbq tables in the restaurant as well but we decided to order some dishes to try. Soon after we ordered, they brought out probably one of the largest arrays of banchans I have ever gotten at a restaurant. The kimchi, potato and fish tofu were my favorites. Mushroom Soon Tofu - The soup was comforting, warm and mildly spicy. I think we wanted a little more punchiness in the dish but all ingredients from the tofu and mix of mushrooms were soft and cooked well inside. Bossam Jungsik - I had been craving good bossam and this one hit the spot. The pieces were perfectly soft and had a nice bite to them. The combination of radish kimchi with the pickled radish and the lettuce was so good, making the best wrap of sweet, sour, spicy and freshness. We only ordered one serving size and it was so filling already. The staff were very efficient and attentive, helping us pack our food at the end of our meal. Everything was so fresh from the banchans to our mains and my friend recommends trying the cold noodles or dumpling soup so I will be coming back to try more.

Yelp
Michelin-recommended, and for good reason, Jang Su Jang will fill your soul with delicious food. Jang Su Jang is in a strip mall so quiet that at first, I wondered if I was at the right place when I got there for lunch. But as soon as I walked through the doors, I knew I had found it; the restaurant bustled with activity, and servers moved deftly among the tables with steaming bowls of stew and sizzling plates of meats. The place looked inviting, and I was eager to have lunch. It wasn't long before we were seated, and the servers quickly set glasses of water before us. The menu had a variety of entrées, and I took my time to look through the soups, noodles, barbecues, and meats before deciding on a beef bibimbap. So much of a good food experience is presentation, and this was no different with my bowl of bibimbap. Upside-down fried egg over a mountain of lettuce and white rice, meats on the right, vegetables on the left, and a garnish of sesame seeds on top. Everything had been placed with flair. The food itself tasted good too. The marinated beef was tender and flavorful, and as I made my way around the bowl from the beef to the vegetables, I realized that the vegetables complemented one another. Umami shiitake and bean sprouts, crunchy daikon and tender carrots, crispy seaweed and sauteed spinach. The fried egg on top was runny and just so. The fluffy rice tied everything together, and it all made for one very filling lunch! I had a delightful bowl of bibimbap at Jang Su Jang, and I'm definitely returning for more next time.

Yelp
This place is easily on par with LA ktown restaurants and surely beats out any similar style of Korean restaurant you can find in SF. The quality of everything here from the banchan to the meats is out of this world good. A few highlights from our experience here: - Seafood Pancake: Easily the best seafood pancake I've ever had... it was packed with a ton of fresh seafood and despite being extremely thick had the most amazing crunch + texture around the entirety of each pancake slice. (5/5) - BBQ Meats: Appreciate that they cook the meats for you to the perfect level of done-ness. We ordered Combo A and selected the brisket, beef tongue and short steaks. My personal fav was the tongue bc it had a great chew and was super juicy. The steak was my second favorite but the brisket was on the leaner side/a bit dry. (4.5/5) - LA Galbi: Amazing flavor and super succulent bites of meat. I've eaten a lot of LA Galbi in my life but can't recall it ever being this good. (5/5) The restaurant itself is super spacious and sparkling clean -- would be a great place for larger groups/get togethers.

Yelp
The Dotolee Bibimguksu was a 10/10 recommend!!! Personally, I thought it was wayyyy better than the Bibim Nnaengmyun. It was super refreshing and not too spicy. The service was very friendly. They actually forgot about one of my orders but ended up giving my party Bossam on the house as a result! It wasn't too loud nor too busy, with the restaurant being around 75% full. You should definitely check this place out.

Janet L.

Yelp
Good service, good food! We got the cold noodles and combo A. They were very attentive and friendly, and all of the banchan was delicious!

Maria J.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant, but unfortunately, the overwhelming smell of sewage made it impossible to enjoy my visit. The moment I walked in, I was hit with a strong, foul odor--something like a backed-up drain or septic tank. It lingered throughout the entire dining area, making it hard to focus on my food. Although the food that I ordered taste okay.

Yelp
Jang Su Jang has lost some of its past glory. Something which their Sign Reflects with the " T " from Tofu missing. What use to be one of the premier Korean BBQ Restaurants in Santa Clara has now unfortunately become poor in the Ambiance sector. Thankfully, their food has not. I ordered Beef Bulgogi and it didn't disappoint. Flavor was good as well as the portion. The condiments were very good too. Best out of most Korean restaurants I've tried. They have a good variety of Korean dishes and you can choose to either have the BBQ at your table or not. Service was good and didn't have to wait too long after ordering. Cost is a bit on the higher end for a restaurant who now warns customers about car break ins in their parking lot . Sadly, the Santa Clara strip mall Jang Su Jang is in looks like the after effects of Covid19 economic collapse. Good news is due to this, there is plenty of parking (at your own risk). Think they should relocate to Cupertino or Los Altos.

Ken C.

Yelp
Not bad They have all the classic Korea food. Nothing mind blowing but well done. We got the bbq combo, a large bossam, and a naengmyeon. More than enough food for six ppl. Came with steamed egg and doenjang jiggae. Be aware that his place be pricey. Def not budget eats (seafood pancake is $29 LOL)

Eric L.

Yelp
I've always loved Korean barbecue, and this Michelin-reviewed (no stars, but even getting mentioned is an honor) spot in Santa Clara was once the highest-end barbecue spot in the South Bay. With new competitors, the long lines are gone, but the food remains consistent and solid. They cook at the table, and the banchan (a series of small side dishes) are generous. The price is high - nearly $200 for two people for the cheapest combo meal - so some of the higher-end places (that cost a similar amount) might be a better bet. But the friendliness is here.

Benjamin T.

Yelp
Jang su Jang is a classic higher end korean restaurant chain that has a wide variety of Korean menu items that range from classic tofu soup to the juicy galbijjim. It is always a solid choice for parties of 6 or more for those who need a larger table (assuming you are okay with the 18% auto gratuity) We usually come here for a solid tofu soup place as it is $20 and cheaper than sgd tofu houses in the bay. They also are willing to refill side dishes as well. The servers are super nice and caring and make sure all your water, side dishes, and all those classic needs are met. Parking in this plaza is plentiful as its kinda low-key dead after the food court and supermarket closed. Would recommend if you want a a classic korean eatery!

Yelp
ToBang had always been my favorite go-to kbbq restaurant in Santa Clara, but too bad they were closed for lunch on Thursdays. While searching for an alternative spot, I passed by Jang Su Jang and the decision was made. I ordered the hyu mit gui ($50- non-marinated beef tongue), chadol baki ($50- thinly sliced beef brisket) and the seafood/beef soon tofu soup ($21). The tofu soup was average and didn't stand out much. There wasn't much meat or seafood so it was not worth $21. The marbling on the kbbq meat was beautiful, and I really enjoyed the quality and thinly sliced meat. Don't touch the meat placed on the grill until you're given the okay, because the ajummas will cook it for you. The only bad thing about that is not being able to make the decision on whether I can get my meat more raw or more charred. It is funny how hard it is to flag them down to get my order in or to get a refill on water, but they ALWAYS come on time to flip the meat. Jang Su Jang has three bbq combo choices that range from $150 to $270 with 4-5 items. It was quite a lot of food for lunch and would have taken more time to cook so I ordered individual dishes instead and that made a dent in my wallet. If only they had a lunch combo with more variety and smaller portions. Based on the portion of the thinly cut meat, I couldn't justify the price. However, I do love good quality meat and the classy ambiance, so I would come back if I can pass up ToBang next time.

Yelp
Came on the Wednesday before thanksgiving around 2pm and it was quiet. The service was quick as we were only 1 of 3 parties there. Upon arrival, you'll notice a very quiet, empty lot. It almost looks like an abandoned lot, but don't fret, the restaurant is there! We definitely over ordered for 2 people, but we just wanted to try different things! Bossam - this was good and good for sharing. Rose tteokbokki - the flavor was good, but the rice cakes seemed to be slightly over cooked and was a tad mushy. Seafood pancake - liked that it came on the stone plate which kept it warm and crispy. I think it was a tad too doughy and not bough seafood in it. Overall, it was a nice meal. We had quite some leftovers. Would give other items a try in the future.

Tracy N.

Yelp
The sauce for the Rose Ddeok Bokki was SO good, perfect creaminess and it was pretty spicy. The rice cakes were on the softer side, not as chewy but still really good. I love all the extra toppings they added for this appetizer (I think it's pumpkin and sweet potato tempura). The Yookgejang Mandooguk was also a good level of spice and its soup had a light taste. The dumplings were savory and all of the banchan was delicious. The restaurant is kept clean and the service wasn't bad, but it was a really hot day and they kept giving us room temp water. I thought it was a little funny how they only gave me 1 napkin when I asked for extra napkins too.

Susan B.

Yelp
Delicious and worth the drive. Hardly anyone was there at lunch on a Thursday, but you can tell by the buzzers sitting around that they get busy. The restaurant is largish and clean. I always love to check out everyone's banchan and theirs was on point. The seaweed salad was refreshing, the kimchis were tasty, it was all yum. We shared the (cold) spicy buckwheat noodles- chewy deliciousness, and the spicy beef soup with king dumplings. The dumplings were huge indeed, and the broth was amazing. While they say spicy, it's not overly so. It's a pleasant level, no sweat involved.

Soy P.

Yelp
Ok first of all the food here was so good I ate the entire bowl of bibimbap within 2 minutes. They have a wide variety or dishes the only thing is that it's a little pricy. Architecture however is absolutely delicious. Look up at that sexy white wavy ahh ceiling. However I was a little scared of the Korean grandmas working there but overall this place is buss.

Jeannie R.

Yelp
Great Korean food. Highly recommend! I think my korean mom will love this place when she comes to the bay area to visit me!

Lei P.

Yelp
Yummy clam tofu soup! Great service! Delicious Kimchi and sides. Veggie pancake was also delicious!

Frank K.

Yelp
When Jang Su Jang arrived in Santa Clara it immediately, in my opinion, became the number one Korean restaurant. There were always long lines to get in. Then Chungdam came onto the scene and took the crown away. Then 10 Butchers came into town, followed by Baekjeong. Now you can show up on a Saturday night and there is no wait. Which in a way makes it better because it's still a very good Korean restaurant but without the wait. Two dishes that stand out at this restaurant are: Dotolee Bibim Guksu - spicy cold acorn noodle salad Yookejang Kalguksoo - spicy beef soup with hand-cut noodles I recommend this restaurant, especially if you don't want to deal with a wait.

Erin P.

Yelp
I ate here for an occasion with my family (birthday celebration) and everyone thought the food was pretty good. The ambiance Very spacious restaurant when on a busy night with seating that had soft seats! Food The rest of the food was really delicious especially for those of us who saved room to eat, I was personally very satiated. The sauces were just right, not too too salty, spicy, or overly sweet, everything was well balanced. All the food was really good, every side dish and piece of meat we ordered was yummy. The bimbimbap's daikon was not really sweet though, or the other one that was supposed to be pickled and the egg was a little over cooked. We could have been asked for other drink options other than water. Service The service was stellar with the staff coming around frequently to help us grill and switch the pans out when they got overly charred. I def recommend coming back to this place. I'd come here again or to another location with friends.

Kris C.

Yelp
Great food, very nice staff & awesome selections! It's different to have them cook for you compared to cook for yourself. But I enjoyed every bit of it! It does get crazy packed after 6:30 so def plan ahead! I love their LA GALBI!

Jo P.

Yelp
Great food and reasonably priced. The staff are really nice and welcoming. If it's your first time there, they make recommendations on what they think you'll like. I like the tteobokki, galbi tang, and their bbq meats. They have a great selection of different cuts of meat. Best part, their banchans are pretty delicious too.

Rohan B.

Yelp
Upon entering the plaza Jang su Jang is in the place looks deserted but once you come into Jang su Jang everything gets more lively. Jang su Jang has a large interior with bbq tables where you can cook your meat as well as normal tables for non-bbq which is where we sat! While the restaurant was quite busy at 5:30 P.M. when we went the food still came out very fast and you could see some of the kitchen action which I always love in a restaurant! We got the beef bulgogi first. The bulgogi came with SOO MANY sides it was insane. The crazy thing was you could ask for unlimited refills for your miniature sides which I definitely took advantage of. The beef bulgogi itself was SOO good. The beef was super tender and and was divided into a bunch of tasty morsels. The meat was cooked to perfection and was sweet and salty. The beef was cooked on a skillet and on the bottom of the skillet were some caramelized onion which were BOMBB! There were soo many sides, but my favorite was definitely the macaroni and the acorn jelly which were both so fresh and SOOO Good. Lots of refills were taken:). The japchae came next which was just glass noodles with beef and stir fried veggies. The japchae was also decently good. The meat once again was just so tender and savory! It went perfectly. The glass noodles weee a nice brown and had the perfect texture. The ratio of noodles to meat to crunchy veggies was perfect. The only flaw of the dish was that the noodles themselves were lacking in flavor so the dish became a lackluster, but still a solid dish to order when fiending for glass noodles! The final dish we got was the creamy tteokbokki. The servers gave us the option from choosing from the creamy or the spicy option and I had to get the creamy and I am so glad I did because the creamy tteokbokki still had an amazing punch! The actually creamy gravy from the dish was so flavorful and I made sure to lick my plate clean by eating all the gravy with the complimentary rice that comes with your dishes! The actual rice cakes and egg from the tteokbokki were SO FREAKIBG GOOD. Chewy and delicious. The amazing creamy red gravy was just the cherry on top. The dish also came with lots of veggies that were cooked to perfection in the curry. The singular flaw of the dish was just that there wasn't enough rice cakes to my liking. If you are sharing with other you will probably only get 2 or 3 ricke cakes and I definitely wanted more. I highly recommend the creamy tteokbokki though for its tasty, spicy, creamy gravy and the chewy delectable rice cakes and egg! OVERALL, the service was amazing with kind servers who were very attentive and joyous! The food also came out very fast durig rush service and the food was all hot and fresh. The ambiance was great with lot of interior seating and a thoughtful kitchen view. You would be breaking the bank for these dishes a little more than you would expect, but definitely worth it for any special occasion. DEFINITELY RECCOMEND this Korean joint to others and you will probably see me there again soon!

Nina Z.

Yelp
Wow! This definitely hit the spot. Seafood and beef tofu soup was excellent! I loved the variety of side dishes, some of which you don't typically see at other Korean places. My favorites were the kimchi, the apple salad, and the marinated beef. Prices are a bit more expensive than other places, but service is attentive and the food was delicious! Was a bit wary at first since the first thing you see upon entering is a giant sign warning customers not to leave their valuables inside. They even ask you before you're seated if you want them to hold on to any valuables. In general, peoples, don't leave your valuables in the car PERIOD. Once inside though, we were seated at our table and the staff was always nearby in case we needed anything. Overall, quality food and excellent, attentive service!

Ellen l.

Yelp
This place is inside a parking structure.. not a lot of good restaurants around it but this Korean place is pretty good!! I love coming here it's pretty close to ktown in LA! I wasn't too into the bossam here but everything else here is pretty good ! I've been here many times the food is so good that I keep forgetting to take the picture! Also, try their soups it's delicious I like the spicy beef soup tooKnife Cut Noodles Soup

Connie W.

Yelp
I loved how authentic this restaurant felt, and it had a very clean and eye pleasing aesthetic. I was surprised by how big this place was -- there were plenty of tables to sit at! Our waiters were very attentive to us and our food came out fast. We ordered the spicy beef dumpling soup and the dumpling soon tofu (both mild spice). The dumplings in the soon tofu were super flavorful, but unfortunately the soup itself didn't taste like much. The spicy beef dumpling soup was so tasty though, and the dumplings were decent (not as flavorful as the soon tofu dumplings though). Both dishes came with rice and a nice banchan spread! I loved the kimchi (a lil spicy for me but still delicious) and the bean sprouts from the banchan :) Next time, I probably wouldn't get soon tofu again, but would love to try one of the hand pulled noodle soups or the japchae!!

Quin B.

Yelp
This place wasn't bad! There is ample parking. They cook your meat for you. Change your grill frequently. Overall I enjoyed it. It wasn't bad at all.

Ha M.

Yelp
I was really impressed by this restaurant which is already too reputable and outstanding for Korean food here with another restaurant in Milpitas. The ambiance was really elegant. The service is great as well. Sometimes they stood behind you or by your side just to take care of you.

fabianna e.

Yelp
Very pricy and not worth the price at all. For the choices of three meats you get charged around $200. One thing I really didn't like is after we left the tip, the lady told us that the tip wasn't enough which my friend and I were shocked and my friend had to give more money which I think is a very unnecessary behavior, it is very inappropriate to question a customer about the tip they left. I think that tips are optional and no one should be dictated how much tips should be given especially if we are just two people. We are not spending a dime in this place again. I am full of regret for going to that place.

Merry K.

Yelp
Jang Su Jang, you are not giving us any reason to come back today. Okay, I get it. You are trying to maneuver Inflation. However, taste, service and quality should not be the one you cut!!!! Our favorite, Beef Japchae was reduced to something I bought at Hmart: super greasy with 3 pieces of dry beef. Asking price: $26. Bulgogi: what used to be succulent and tasty. It was dry and bland. I suspected big batch cooking and then reheated as needed. Tofu Soup: Used to be flavorful and good to the last drop. Today, it was bland and unbelievable no flavor. The stars of the table was LA kalbi and the acorn noodle. Thus the 2 stars. We ordered 2 LA Galbi because everything else were not satisfying. Every time, we pressed the call button. The waiter would come with such unpleasant demeanor. I feel so sorry for taking my sister family to here! Before today, I insisted that you are the Best, a must stop whenever in the South Bay. But, we are breaking up after today. No more!

Mary A.

Yelp
Went here for lunch to catch up with a friend and ordered the seafood pancake as well as bulgogi and everything was absolutely delicious. The service was very quick as well. The restaurant is quite spacious and there was no wait to get a table at noon on a Friday.

Coco C.

Yelp
Was here last time trying the vege pancake and it was so good. But this time ordered the seafood pancake, the seafood not so fresh. Tofu soup okay, beef ribs okay. Side dish is the best. Overall will not pay for the premium to dine here.

William C.

Yelp
I went hear to grab dinner with my cousins, and was surprised with how delicious all the meat was. We got a couple orders of the brisket, short rib, and kimchi pancake. Everything was delicious and the servers were very attentive and cooked the meat for us. The restaurant seems to be located in an abandoned plaza so there's plenty of parking which is a plus.

Liv K.

Yelp
Love the variety of banchan here! My favorite is the briny kale with tiny pieces of soft tofu. We asked for seconds on the kale, napa cabbage kimchi, bean sprouts and cucumber kimchi. I also really liked the potato, radish kimchi and fish cake. Yum! Got the dumpling (beef and pork mandu) tofu soup. Hubs ordered the chicken bi bim bap, but didn't realize until he was already eating that he didn't ask for the hot stone bowl version. Hot barley tea. Mmmm! They walk around checking if anyone wants banchan or tea refills. Guess we'll just have to go back again this winter! I want to try the hand pulled noodle soup with seafood and the seafood pancake! The strip mall is pretty empty, just Jang Su Jang, Paris Baguette, Chili's and United Furniture. Before they sat us, they asked us if we had any valuables, laptops, etc in the car. They have big signs posted reminding customers not to leave any valuables in the car due to break-ins. Bring it inside or leave it at home. Clean restrooms. Credit cards accepted.

E R.

Yelp
Seafood pancake was very good. Seafood tofu stew was very good. Beef ribs were excellent. They make their own kimchi and I've never tasted kimchi as good as theirs. Service is good and efficient. Nice clean place to enjoy a delicious meal.

Yelp
came here for a friend's birthday party and the food was great! the wide selection of banchan was so nice and they gave our group little plates to eat everything family style. the staff was super nice and accommodating. we got the seafood kalguksu, bossam, LA galbi, and rose ddeokbokki. my favorite was the galbi which was so flavorful and tender. the rose ddeokbokki was not as spicy as i wanted it to be however and the seafood kalguksu was okay but everything else was great!!

Yelp
Seoul Mate Looking at my Yelp insights shows a glaring hole in my Korean restaurant visits/reviews; I figured the best way to get our Korean adventures started is by visiting what many consider to be "the best" Korean spot in the Bay: Jang Su Jang. This stalwart Michelin-rated Korean spot is located in a nondescript strip mall that's seen better days and functions as both a restaurant, as well as an AYCE KBBQ spot. I'm actually not that into KBBQ (too much work for my lazy ass), so we opted for the restaurant side. The Good: *Service was friendly and fast *Haemul Pajeon (Seafood pancake) was delicious, crispy, and filled with pescatarian goodness. Carissa thought it was a bit too fishy for her liking, but I disagreed. *Wang Mandoo (boiled dumplings w/ beef, pork, and kimchi) were just OK, but Carissa thought they were the bee's knees. Lots of others wax poetic about them, but to me, they were just missing something. *DotoleeYachae Guksoo (cold Acorn noodles tossed w/ vegetables & soy sauce dressing) were absolutely terrific and would be the perfect meal on a warm day. Cool, refreshing, and packed with flavor, sweet, and salty flavor. *Maeun Galbi Jjim (Spicy Braised Beef Short Ribs) was probably the best thing I've eaten all year--if not, then def at least in the top-3. Sweet, salty, spicy, and full of beefy umami flavor that I just kept wanting more and more. The flavor was so complex that each bite tasted almost completely different from the previous. The Meh: *Prices are a bit on the high side, but since everything is made in-house and #FuckingDelicious, you won't hear me complain too loudly. The Ugly: *Evidently the parking lot is a hot bed of criminal activity and car break-ins, as there's a myriad of signs in the restaurant warning customers to lock their doors and not leave anything appealing in sight. TLDR: Fantastic food, friendly service, and mildly obscene prices but still #wortheverypenny

Yelp
I ordered the grilled mackerel and when I was served it was a golden deep fried mackerel, I asked and showed them the menu saying if this is what it is, you should just state it was deep fried on the menu and they still told me verbally it was grilled even though it was clearly golden fried... this back and forth was ridiculous. And the bonchon was very average The bulgogi I ordered taste like it's been taken out from the fridge and microwaved, and then put back into the fridge for another day, then microwaved again... some parts of the beef tasted like condensed crispy soy sauce with a hint of dried beef, almost as if I was eating beef jerky Not sure if I came at a bad time or what but I would never return to this restaurant again

Yelp
lol it's ok. Overpriced. Way too expensive for what it is- it doesn't even stand out from the other Korean restaurants in the area.

Yelp
Usually decent for price and amount of food compared to other korean places. The meat is a little lower quality imho that accounts for the differrence. Thus, i recommend getting the marinated kalvi (short ribs) and not the plain kalbi (higher oriced but also supposed to be fresher by not being marinated). We actually gad bad experience one time due to pathetic table top burner that was anemic and steamed rather than char cooked the meat. Waitress tries to brush off but when we spoke to manager she quickly fixed situation by coming extra meat ( and needing to cook rest of our meat un kitchen). Sides are good. We were disappointed they ran out if the purpke rice on that same trip. Keeping at 4 given ptevious experience. Will see in future uf they keep this.

Yelp
One of the many Jang Su Jang restaurants in the area. While the environment is nice and their banchan dishes are great, the prices are a little steep, especially for KBBQ. Their portion sizes for the BBQ (we had the LA Galbi) was good, but not worth the price. Their seafood pancake is very filling, so be prepared since it's thicker than one would think. Their tofu soup (soondubu jjigae) has many spice options, but their medium is perfect for those with some good spice tolerance. The service here is really good, and I appreciate the hot rice tea that was served.

Yelp
Great Korean food, definitely some of the best you can find in San Jose- and the competition is fierce in the Cupertino area. Ordered the Bibimbap for myself and the LA Galbi ribs for my partner- both were awesome!! Knocked off 1 star because there was an almost-comedically long hair in one of the side dishes. It was so well threaded into the seaweed leaves that I couldn't pull it out LOL. I didn't ask for any comp because of it and only told the hostess after paying/tipping, but it's something to note!

Yelp
Jang Su Jang has always been one of the better quality Korean restaurants in the South Bay. The banchans are my favorite, and every one is a crowd pleaser, unlike other spots that are hit or miss. The radish soup is a great appetizer and palate cleanser. Lost two stars for the portion sizes. I ordered a $22 dolsot bibimbap with chicken, and the chicken portion was about half a cup in the huge bowl of rice and veggies. This threw off the protein-to-rice ratio, which I feel is pretty important to enjoy a meal like this. I only got a piece of chicken in 1 out of 4 bites. I ate half, took the other half to-go, and cooked chicken at home and supplemented the rest to course correct. For the price, I just expected better. Service however, has always been consistently great.
