"Aunty Paew has been serving intense southern Thai cuisine for over 20 years, using daily fresh ingredients to inform a changing menu. The chef makes her own curry paste, and signature dishes include Kaeng Tai Pla fish curry and stir-fried sataw beans with shrimp and aromatic shrimp paste. The deep-fried frog with turmeric is another standout. Chilled watermelon refreshes the palate after this fiery feast." - Michelin Inspector

Hidden Gems: Where to Eat Southern Thai Delicacies in Bangkok

"Janhom is a humble eatery known for uncompromisingly Southern Thai fare. Standout dishes include sour curry (gaeng luang) and tart tamarind soup tom som, studded with fresh mullet." - Chawadee Nualkhair

The “jungle curry” was quite the experience to try. It’s an extremely spicy southern sour sea bass curry with coconut shoots. Spiciest thing I had in all of Thailand. It was pretty good too, not on the level of tom yum or khao soi but it just felt so authentically thai and it’s definitely nothing i could ever get back home so I can’t not recommend it. I also a stink bean curry with shrimp which was also very unusual to me. The stink beans had a very strange delayed aftertaste so I didn’t eat most of them, but other than that the sauce was delicious so I had no problem clearing the plate

Their fish and bamboo shoot curry is a must try (definitely super spicy and tangy). I also ordered Thai Basil Chicken, and though its not famous for that, surprisingly its one of the tastiest one I have tried across Thailand.

It was introduced to me as Southern Thailand food. Michelin Guide 2025. I like the mixture of all the flavour in Thailand.

This restaurant specializes in southern cuisine. The dishes here are known for their spicy and flavorful taste. If you don't prefer spicy food, you can let the staff know when placing your order. There is a parking lot located opposite the restaurant, which can accommodate approximately 20 cars.

One of the best Southern Thai food restaurant in Bangkok in my opinion. Value for money with a lot of food proportion but the most important thing is the taste. It is very delicious. Highly recommended.

Good service and great food. Very authentic and the food are something I have never eaten before. The sourness and spiciness totally fits my taste and they are all so fresh. Highly recommend the food. The only downside for me is that it's quite far from town so I could only eat it while on the way to the airport. The restaurant is spacious and clean and also air-conditioned.

Very good Southern Thai cuisine. Fish curry is very addictive but beware as the spiciness only kick in progressively. Bai Liang is a must order. Almost everything is yummy. Will be back.

This restaurant got Wongnai user choice 2023 award. The food has intense flavor. There are free side vegetables served and fruit served at the end. Staff take a good care of customer and fast service. Menu: Braised Pork Belly with Shrimp Paste and Coconut Sugar(หมูโค): If you are not serious about cholesterol, the pork here contains a lot of collagen which is very tender and not chewy at all. Khraeng mushrooms and shrimp curry(แกงคั่วเห็ดแครง):A rich curry with a spicy and slightly salty taste. Mushrooms have a chewy texture. Stir-fried Young Malindjo Leaves with Egg (ยอดใบเหลียงผัดไข่):Malindjo leaves are soft, but the taste of omelette subtracts Malindjo leaves.
