18 Choice Wine Bars and Tasting Rooms Around Atlanta

"A longtime neighborhood coffee cafe and wine bar, JavaVino is a casual spot for people to grab mostly Latin American coffees and wines paired with breakfast bites, sandwiches, and dessert. Known for its coffee and coffee drinks, the wine list here isn’t deep, but the friendly service, straight-forward menu, and relaxing vibe are what draw regulars to this spot. Follow on Instagram for updates on hours and the menu." - Beth McKibben

JavaVino Coffee & Wine House - Review - Poncey-Highland - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"When you want a true seed-to-cup experience, head to JavaVino, a small family-owned coffee and wine shop in Poncey-Highland. The cafe sources beans from their own Nicaraguan coffee farm, which is like super boss moves. The venue is on the smaller side so beware of the potential for awkward silences if you bring someone with you. But it’s perfect for days when we crave a little solitude while sipping their most popular drink, a sweet honey vanilla latte. For sustenance, get the breakfast burrito that we swear weighs about five pounds. The spinach and herb tortilla is grilled and stuffed to the brim with egg, pico, and fresh guac." - Juli Horsford

"Coffee Shop and Wine Bar in Poncey Highlands Start your day off with coffee from JavaVino, working on your laptop inside. As the day goes on, you can switch to iced tea and move onto the patio, where you are welcome to bring your dog. And come 5 o'clock, grab a glass of wine, the "vino" in JavaVino, or one of their craft beer selections. The cafe also has a menu of sandwiches, soups and salads."

I stopped here on a whim waiting for a friend to arrive for event near by. It's so unique and great coffee!!! They were even having a little "sifi night" event with a projector and all!!! Service was amazing! So friendly and welcoming!

Google
Love the breakfast burritos but the kitchen is never open. I’ve visited 10+ times at 10am, 11am, 1pm, etc and the staff tells me their kitchen is closed. Today, I was told the kitchen closes 30 minutes to an hour before closing - depending on the day. Very frustrating (esp if hungry). Posting to suggest going someplace else for food as the likelihood of the kitchen being open is slim.

Google
Love the story of the coffee here!! The staff is always nice and the drinks are consistently good regardless of who makes them. Nice selection of pastries!

Sawyer Prichard

Google
The coffee is great and everyone is super knowledgeable, but expect to wait at least 20-30 minutes for any food orders, even if nobody else is there. Would be my favorite if the kitchen wasn’t so slow.

Google
Had a fantastic oat milk latte here this morning. Extensive coffee selection from Nicaragua, lots of espresso drinks, tea drinks, and a nice breakfast and lunch menu. Super friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend. Only wish they had a few comfy chairs to hang out in in addition to their tables and chairs. Outdoor seating available which is great on a nice day. Great community coffee place with a chill vibe.

Google
Great experience here with great service and of course great coffee. Beans are sourced from Nicaragua and when this is combined with a modern coffee house the creates a fun experience. The turmeric coffee was actually yellow and left a nice burn on the throat. Parking was fine when I came here but I imagine it can fill up super quick.

Google
Love this place! Family owned and operated, extremely friendly, fantastic coffee, and tasty snacks. It's generally quiet and welcoming, and they have many different whole bean roasts they sell by the half and full pound. Pair that with a good selection of wine, and it's an all day place to relax. If you're in town, it's a must try.

Google
I love this place, really a neighborhood coffee shop, coffee is great, people are great, service great, this is one of the few places in Atlanta where I see older people just having a cup of coffee and talking to other people and not in a retirement home. The Baristas are really nice, muffins are also good and sandwiches good, honestly I feel home here, no pretentious menu, or crazy combinations, but they have smoothies and tea.

Yelp
Really cute, cozy cafe! This cafe is in a great location, not far from videodrome/the plaza. I actually walked there from the beltline -- it is only about ten minutes walking from the Kroger exit of the beltline. I ordered a dirty chai and a cherry pastry, both were really good. Service was good and very quick. There is both inside and outside seating :)

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick latte to go today and it is delicious. I got the bee sting, a honey vanilla latte. Service was friendly. There were several tables inside. I didn't know they had breakfast, but the items on the menu looked good. The downside for me is the parking. There is a large lot next door (with several large potholes), but all of the signs indicate parking for the other businesses. Aside from the parking, I would still return to try more items.

Yelp
Came in today at 1pm for a breakfast burrito only to be told their kitchen was closed. Otherwise, great coffee!

Yelp
Coffee was good and the vibe is cool and laid-back. I'm not sure if this is always true but it was extremely hot the day I went in - not sure if their AC was broken or if they just didn't have it cool enough.

Yelp
Locally owned and their beans are for sale as well from their coffee farm in Nicaragua Besides that they sell wine too . How fun And your dog is welcome too with free dog treats ! Best coffee spot in poncey highland Like every coffee place in the USA it takes a while before your coffee is ready . But I guess I was spoiled in Europe

Yelp
I love a good homey coffee shop and this definitely fits the bill. If you're looking for an aestheticesque place, go elsewhere because this place is plain and simple. It's a little outdated but does its job and serve quality coffee. I ordered a medium americano and it was fine.

Yelp
I stopped in here this morning to try out the breakfast burrito, which was so delicious I scarfed it down immediately and forgot to take a picture. It was an excellent size for the price and came in a green tortilla with scrambled eggs, salsa cheese, and I added bacon. Yum! The two people working in the shop were super sweet, and my burrito was ready for me before I knew it. Excellent experience.

Yelp
I ordered takeout for breakfast. Could not be more pleased with the fresh and flavorful veggie breakfast burrito I received. It is evident that the ingredients are high quality and prepared either care and attention to detail. Will definitely explore more of the menu the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
This place has incredible coffee, but the quality of the breakfast sandwich was an unsuspecting highlight. The iced oat milk latte is my go to drink order. There's comfortable seating if you want to spend time here with friends or to read or work on your computer.

Yelp
I like this little coffee shop and wine house, it, definitely feels like a local spot where you might see repeat customers. I've only been here twice but I've enjoyed my coffee and meal on both occasions but I have to say the service is not consistent. It's not bad, it's just mediocre. The baristas can make a killer cup of coffee though. As the name suggests they offer coffee and wine, they host monthly wine events/ tastings. I need to check out their website for the next scheduled tasting. The shop is located on busy N Highlands Ave between Freedom Pkwy and North Ave. They offer free parking directly behind their building which is always a plus in the city. It's a very cozy shop with a few places to sit inside and they offer patio seating also in the front. I've had their top seller Bee Sting: Espresso, honey, vanilla and steamed milk topped with frothed milk ($4.50 12oz). After one sip I instantly knew why this was a hit. Its just the right amount of honey and the coffee is perfect. Maybe it's because JavaVino roasts all their own coffee, the house coffee and many of the blends come from their very own coffee farm, Selva Negra Coffee Estate, in Nicaragua. I've also tried the Dancing Cuban: chai, cinnamon, gingerbread and espresso ($4 8oz). 5 star drink that is absolutely delicious and smooth. My veggie friends you can find lots of vegan pastries in the case for purchase. Yummy!!

Yelp
This was my first time visiting Java Vino. Staff was friendly and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. However the food and my latte were very disappointing. As you can see I asked for spinach , onion and tomato thinking they would add it in the eggs. No. The egg is microwaved and the toppings were COLD on my lukewarm egg patty. the cheese was cold and hard and did not melt on my sandwich. Then the matcha latte... For those of you who know or those who don't matcha is green! I was served a cup of milk pretty much with clumps of matcha powder floating around in it. Very disappointing.

Yelp
Maybe I have nostalgia from coming here but this place is awesome. Introduced to this place by a friend and I've been back so many times since! The staff is very nice, attentive and friendly. The coffee is great, but what I love about them is their breakfast menu! - breakfast sandwich add bacon on a croissant - breakfast burrito with bacon (extra crispy) Hidden Gem of Virginia Highland!
google avatar

Yelp
Consistently the best breakfast sandwich in town. Super customizable and always hot and fresh! I appreciate that you don't have to download an app to order online from them (just go to the menu on their website, or even call them). Iced drinks (latte, cold brew, and iced Americano) are always excellent. On my most recent visit I noticed that they added the ice when I arrived to pick it up, to keep it from getting melted while it waited for me to arrive, which I thought was nice! Baristas are generally quite friendly. COVID precautions are followed. There's ample parking behind it or on nearby neighborhood streets (not on Highland).

Yelp
The story of this coffee shop is truly special - and the coffee and almond croissants are fantastic too! They have a direct relationship with a single farm in Nicaragua where they source their coffee beans. You can even see the entire process documented on the wall (see picture)! This is a coffee-geek destination, the true embodiment of farm-to-cup. Plus wine, tea, beer, and breakfast sandwiches and borritos! Parking is tight but welcome to Atlanta. It's a short walk from the Jimmy Carter Library, which has plenty of parking.

Yelp
JavaVino is a cute coffee shop and wine bar conveniently located in Poncey Highland. We stopped in on a recent Sunday for a decent Americano and nicely spiced iced chai. However, we were nearly stunned by their absolutely delicious matcha bread- a dense and bright green pound cake that hits the perfect balance between sweet vanilla and a hint of matcha flavor. I don't even really like matcha, but I would come running back for that cake. I look forward to visiting again to participate in some of their regular wine tastings post-COVID.

Yelp
I'd rate this place 4 for the coffee and 3 for the food. The breve latte was excellent, but the breakfast burrito was nothing to write home about and not worth the money I paid for it. The space is a bit small but they have several tables and their own dedicated parking lot which is nice. I think the espresso is excellent so definitely worth stopping in for a cup of coffee, but I wasn't too impressed by anything else (food, service, or ambience).

Yelp
Yikes. This place was a hot mess express on Saturday. There were people congregated in the lobby unsure of where to go to place orders. The one barista working was shouting at customers to ask what they wanted while the cashier was MIA. My order was made wrong not once, but twice. After the second go, I just left with my cortado as it was. The expresso was extremely bitter and undrinkable.

Yelp
Wait, how have I not reviewed JavaVino? I've been here a few times over the years, but needing to get some reading done, I paid them a visit on a Friday afternoon. Not much had changed since my last visit at JavaVino. Interior holds about a dozen small tables inside and about a half dozen outside, as well as a window side ledge for seating.. As the name suggests, Wine and coffee can be purchased, and boy do they have an assortment of coffee beans, almost an entire wall of them. I got a16oz americano espresso ($3) decaffeinated, as well as a jalapeno and cream cheese croissant (about $4) The Croissant, which had black sesame seeds sprinkled over it, was served warm and had decent flavor, but had very little jalapeno, and almost no cream cheese at all. I couldn't taste any of it anyway. The cup of decaff espresso was actually not bad! It tasted just like a regular cup, great because i'm very sensitive to caffeine when I have it in the afternoon, making a decent cup of joe without all the caffeine a good thing. Parking at JavaVino is tight, and you'' hesitate as you go down the very steep hill (no really, don't come flying down this drive way). There's only aboug 5 or 6 real parking spots, though i've seen people park on the curb before at the bottom. Located off of N. Highland Ave, right across the street from Manuel's Tavern, depending on the time of day, getting in and out can be tough, but not impossible. JavaVino is an oldie but a goodie, and while there's a ton of competition...much more than when JavaVino was just getting started, they do have a cup for you, and practically every type of coffee bean you can think of. May be worth checking out!

Yelp
Sweet little coffee shop in a great location. Parking is a bit iffy (large hill) but it is very walk able. Love that this coffee shop is open later (around 10). Cozy and great for getting some work done. Some little tables and couches. I have never been here when it was too full, but many times is is quite busy. LOVE their coffee. It's sourced from Nicaragua and delicious. They also have some great baked goods (surprisingly loved the gluten free ones). Would reccomend for a nice "work from home" day!

Yelp
There are pages of menus. Coffee, tea, wine, smoothies, salads, food, and cheese plates! I got the cheese plate of 5 cheese (goat, cheddar, brie, blue, manchego). It comes with big crackers and jam. I opted to add chorizo and olives. I thought this was a good value. There are table tops, regular tables, and a couch. There is a also a patio in front. Parking is frustrating. There is a parking lot in the back. The shop is small so it looks like there is just enough parking for patrons. There are other restaurants around there with their own lot. I wouldn't risk parking elsewhere.
google avatar

Kaity J.

Yelp
Parking lot? Yep. Outside seating area? Check. Atmosphere? It's got that, too. Grunge-inspired-ish, yet still cozy. Coffee? Good. Treats? Real good. Service? A little slow when we arrived due to only one barista being staffed in the late morning. (I think the other went in the back to do something.) Still friendly enough. Would I go back? Sure, if I'm in the neighborhood. Not a spot I would go out of my way for, though.

Yelp
Wonderful coffee and pastries, great service and atmosphere, and top-notch beer selection. Can't say too many good things

Yelp
Came here for dessert. They supposedly close at 12, we came a quarter till to get to go desserts. They told us they were closed, but they gave my friend a birthday dessert (salted caramel cheesecake) even though they were closed. She loved the cheesecake!! For that I give them 4 stars. I hope to go back and check them out soon.

Yelp
This review is for their rental space (wine lounge only this time). Five stars for service, staff, and all around good vibes! As the matron of honor, I am in charge of all anti-bridezilla measures, including the Bridal Shower Brunch. Very few venues allow outside food, so that is a huge plus for JavaVino. We only had to purchase the beverages, and might I add that I'm now spoiled. I don't want to have to perfect the mix ever again. Just let JavaVino serve up the perfect mimosa batch. The non-alcoholic hibiscus tea was also a great complement to our brunch spread. Page was a godsend!!! She dealt with my questions and last minute texts without sending me to the blocked list lol! I'll definitely be back! The only thing I'd recommend improving or advising others about is the need for seat covers because some of the chairs are worn. This isn't a deal breaker for me though. I'm STILL hosting my next event here if the date is available.

Yelp
First visit and it was wonderful. Service: Great the barista was super sweet and I loved her accent. I'm horrible with remembering to ask for non fat milk and she was a dear and asked what my preference was. Sweet stuff: I ordered the mocha and a brownie recommended by the barista. Both were fabulous. Verdict: I will return, sooner than later.

Yelp
My brother and wanted to visit a low key/laid back café that served wine and coffee. We wanted wine, but did not feel like going to a wine bar or a place that was overly crowded. JavaVino is quiet and wasn't too packed on an early Saturday evening. It is small, but we were able to find seating. We both got dry red wines for $7.00 a piece. We were able to enjoy our wines, chat, catch up on our smartphones through free wifi. Besides wine, they do have a great coffee/tea/pastry selection. I was glad he chose this place to hang out and chill for an hour.

Yelp
About Java Vino (from their website): "We are wine lovers. We own our coffee farm and roast the beans fresh to serve to you at JavaVino. We are a coffee and wine house in Atlanta, Georgia." Lovely neighborhood coffee shop. They also serve treats (sandwiches, desserts, etc) and alcohol (wine, beer). There is a small parking lot in the back, but definitely not enough for the business they get. I see alot of people park in the lot next door, but that is supposed to be for Manuel's. Though not currently enforced, it appears. There is seating outside on the small patio and indoors. There are three levels, I think the basement and upstairs are for group gatherings. They host wine tastings and allow community groups to meet there. I used a Scoutmob here and was very surprised that you could use it on alcohol. So my ex got a free beer. On another visit, I purchased the Bee Sting: Espresso, honey, vanilla and steamed milk topped with frothed milk. I also got some pumpkin bread (seasonal, I believe). The Bee Sting was nice; the pumpkin bread needed more sugar (it was rather bland). Very happy to have them in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Met a colleague here for a work meeting. She had been there for a couple of hours already and had ordered a couple of things when I arrived. After taking off my coat and taking a few minutes to get connected to my email, one of the servers/baristas came over and rudely thrust a menu towards me, stating "Here's a menu so that you can pick something to order." Her demeanor was very negative and off-putting. She treated me like I was a mooch, rolling in off the streets to use the internet. It was clear that I was meeting someone who was already a paying guest. This is not ok. Must all guests order something to have a quick chat? I eventually ordered a cup of tea, but didn't feel any positive vibes from any of the staff. Not quite the low key coffee vibes that I was expecting.

Yelp
Lovely little place, good for breakfast or coffee after lunch and a sweet treat! They have a lot of vegan options and really great coffee!! I had an iced coffee with almondmilk and enjoyed it very much. Super friendly service and the lady was very knowledgeable about all the food. They have enough parking space at the back, just very few steps away. Definitely recommend JavaVino

Yelp
Javavino is number 10 on Eater Atlanta's 15 essential coffee shops so I decided to check it out today. It was a beautiful day so I spent the afternoon on the patio. Had a chai latte which was decent. They also have a pretty nice spread of desserts and other food. Was here all day and never had a problem with the WiFi! Not a ton of parking but I got here early so I snagged a good spot.
google avatar

Z R.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about Javavino. Personal favorite coffee shop in Atlanta! Their baristas have shown amazing consistency in the quality of drinks over time. Egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant is a go to in the mornings. Great space to get lost in your work and zone out too. Covid has impacted seating inside but there's still an outside patio at the moment. Javavino sets the standard for a neighborhood coffee shop
google avatar

Bryan M.

Yelp
Blind Assessment: Small, sweet, brightly juicy. Mango, black currant, complex flowers (lavender, crape myrtle, ginkgo), in aesthetic and vibe. Sweet, nuanced acidity; polished seating. Service consolidates around flowers and citrus in a richly drying finish. Notes: A complex, complete and convincing blend of coffee shop, wine bar and study cemetery, this place shows a pleasantly leafy aromatic topnote -- though not one that is indicative of any under-ripeness. The balance is so fine that JavaVino manages to seem sumptuous and subdued at once, a mystifying marriage. Who Should Try It: Aficionados of trashed productivity, pomegranate eaters.

Yelp
If the Atlanta coffee shop scene were a family, JavaVino would be the uncle whose vocal chords are ravaged by decades of smoking and who insists on wearing a toupee. Maybe at some point, the concept of serving both coffee and booze was edgy, but now even Grandma Starbucks has been playing that game for years. And she's arguably better at it than Uncle Java. At least her dishware does not bare clues of previous use and her tables don't rock when you touch them, threatening to capsize your precious laptop harder than the Titanic. I'm not saying JavaVino doesn't have any positive attributes. It follows the tradition of employing tattooed kids who make you feel that, despite your various post-graduate degrees, you still don't "get it." And their coffee, selection-wise and taste-wise, is perfectly good. I, despite having lived in Atlanta for over ten years and only just checking out JavaVino this week, do not feel that I have missed out on anything. In short, Uncle JavaVino is past his prime and no longer contributing to the social security trust fund of Atlanta.

Yelp
JavaVino is a small independently owned and operated coffee shop. It's located across from Manuel's Tavern in Poncey-Highland, just south of Virginia Highland and north of Little Five Points and Inman Park. This coffee shop is unique for a couple reasons: 1. They sell wine, hence "Java" (coffee) and "Vino" (wine). 2. They farm, grow, and roast their own coffee beans. I'm neither a coffee nor wine connoisseur, so I'm not the best person when it comes to fully appreciating and thoroughly reviewing a place like this. During peak times, this place gets packed. JavaVino is situated inside an old cottage. Seating is limited. They've got a tiny patio outside, tables and chairs inside, and some couches in the back. The space is cozy and intimate. So intimate, that you can easily hear the conversations of those around you. The homely atmosphere makes you feel comfortable, like you're relaxing in a living room. Free Wi-Fi. The coffee beans are sourced from the owner's parents' farm in Nicaragua. If you order the house coffee, it'll be made from these beans. It comes in light, dark, and French roasts. They sell other coffees too. The Caramel Breve is good. It's refreshing and has bold flavor. A breve is like a latte except steamed half-and-half is used instead of milk. The Caramel Breve comes with espresso, caramel, half-and-half, and frothed milk. A 20-oz is about $4.00. They also sell food and desserts here including breakfast, small plates (e.g. quesadillas), salads, and sandwiches. Everything seems reasonably priced as most plates are under $6.00-$7.00 each. I like how the dessert menu has both coffee and wine pairing suggestions for each dessert. Service is quick and efficient. There's a little parking lot in the back. Alternatively, you can try parking across the street in Manuel Tavern's big lot. The coffee shop is closed Monday afternoons and evenings for roasting. Generally, JavaVino is a nice place for small meetups.

Yelp
Bee Sting~! I will always appreciate a good honey latte. With that, I don't really get much of anything else At JavaVino drink wise. Whomp, whomp.... However, I have tried their B.L.T. and the vegan wrap which wasn't half bad at all. Also, have tried their pumpkin bread and zucchini bread which are A+, as well. Their seating situation is a little cramped, I'd say, and honestly, can't recall the outlet situation except I think if you can snag a spot by the wall then you're covered. The last few times we had visited there was an odd odorous smell, which was unpleasant-- not awesome roasted coffee smell or cooking food, more pungent, hiding under the kitchen sink smell. Not sure if that's a regular thing. The place also has outdoor seating though, and seems to be dog friendly for the patio. They also roast their coffee in small batches which gives them control and quite a few options to sell. If they're not too packed, they're a really comfy coffee shop. Lotsa of parking in back too.

Yelp
SUMMARY= Good food and coffee, skip the smoothies, ample seating, free Wi-Fi that works well, and lots of outlets. FOOD= We had the chicken quesadilla and breakfast croissant with egg and bacon. Quesadilla needed some serious salt but was pretty good. The breakfast croissant was also tasty. I especially appreciated how the bacon was cooked: crispy (no chewy fat), but not overcooked. Especially perfect in a breakfast croissant. Latte was good. The berry smoothie was only OK. I make my own berry smoothies all the time, and it tastes like they put a syrup or concentrate in there along with the fruit. It makes for an overly sweet, slightly unnatural taste. ATMOSPHERE/SEATING= There was more seating in this place than I expected. A few tables are uber small, but there are four full-sized tables (perfect for two people with laptops/papers), a window bar-style seating, and a comfy couch with low table... basically all the styles of seating I could ever want in a cafe. The music was good, although perhaps a little too loud/charismatic for studying. The staff seems really nice and would probably adjust it, though. The temperature was pleasant. Lots of outlets! SERVICE= Friendly. PARKING= Parking in the back; go into the driveway just north of the cafe. Seems like there is more seating than there is parking, so while we didn't have an issue I guess that it could get tight back there.

Yelp
JavaVino is truly a gem of this neighborhood. The mood, the service, the menu. Every single thing that we have ordered was really fresh and yummy. The workers were very professional and kind. Yes, JavaVino actually care that you are pleased.

Yelp
JavaVino has become a sort of home for me during my past 4 years in Atlanta...it always has the perfect atmosphere no matter what mood I'm in. During medical school I needed to find a place where I could get work done but also be social if I wanted to, and JavaVino turned out to be the perfect place. For studying/doing work I am always able to find a power outlet. It may seem silly, but finding a place to plug my computer in is always a priority of mine and it has been amazing to never have an issue at JavaVino. Even if you decide to sit out on their outdoor patio, they have an outlet or two for you to use. Bonus study element of JavaVino: some of their tables are chalk-painted so you can use them to scribble down any quick notes. The people who work at JavaVino are always AMAZING. I was always met with a friendly face and suggestions of the newest coffee drinks to try. TK has been one of the baristas that I have known the longest and he is always on his A-game and adds in a bit of humor. When trying to arrange events in their private spaces, Paige is always very responsive and helpful to accommodate any request. They have both a space downstairs and one upstairs so you can host private functions. All of the drinks (both the coffee-based and alcoholic ones) are reasonably priced. They have a menu with specialty drinks like my favorite, the Bee-Sting (latte with honey...I always use almond milk). You can also look at their hugeeee list of different flavor syrups and make your own personal combination of drink. Also, all of their coffee is hand-chosen by the owner from Coffee Bean Farms that he personally travels to. Also, their wine selection has something for everyone! It's nice that you can study and get work done with coffee during the day and switch over to chatting over wine in the same place. TL;Dr: JavaVino will always be one of my favorite business in ATL and I hope it'll be one of yours too! P.s. get the breakfast burrito...you will then end up craving it literally every morning.

Yelp
I like this place. It has a genuinely nice vibe. And the chai tea latte that I had was delicious. But, a few things were a little underwhelming. The baked good choices weren't great, nor was the lemon poppy seed muffin I had very tasty. The seating was also weirdly limited because of the tiny size of a majority of tables (I was there with a friend). Also, it felt a little bit dirty, like things hadn't been cleaned well. Would I go back if this was the closest cafe to where I lived? Yes. Would I go out of my way to go here (since I actually live pretty far from here)? Nope, probably not. Still, I would recommend the chai latte (delicious) and the extremely friendly servers.

Yelp
High quality coffee at decent prices. Addictive slabs of blueberry crumb cake for $2.50. Free wi-fi. What's not to like? Okay, the barista had an off night and it took us a couple of tries to get the order exactly right. And the free wi-fi was a bit confusing, since the "Javavino" network was not the right network to join, and once I got connected, my attempt to get to Yelp got redirected to a Skyblox page instead. I prefer transparent, instant-on connections, thanks. SPECIAL TIP: They're closed Monday afternoons to roast the week's coffee beans. If you go on Tuesday, you will be drinking the freshest brew you've ever tasted.

Yelp
I've been having to study some continuing education work courses, which are incredibly boring, so I can't study at home because I just nap. Thankfully I live around plenty of coffee shops, but I find myself mostly returning to JavaVino. First and foremost, if the weather is nice, they've got a good deal of semi-shaded patio space so I can be outside but not blinded while reading. Second, they've got Emerald City Bagels, which I'm OBSESSED with. If you see they have the jalapeno cheese or rosemary sea salt varieties, do yourself a favor and get one. They get their coffee beans from their family's farm and also roast them themselves, which is awesome. It always throws me off when I walk by on Mondays on the way home from work and they're closed, but that's roasting day. I typically just get hot or iced coffee, depending on my mood, and both are great for being just the basics. I also once had a very odd day where I had a latte craving, and getting one here really was satisfying. They also sometimes make special drinks, so last week for instance I had a Vietnamese style iced coffee. I've never had a problem getting a table to myself on weekends. The place can be pretty busy so I typically take my headphones so I'm not distracted. It's really great inside too because there's so many windows it's just naturally bright. They've also got a rewards program that I think links up with your email address, I always completely forget about it but I've gotten emails for free shortbread cookies. Since I walk by here almost daily, I've noticed that during the week they sometimes have open mic comedy nights upstairs if you've ever wanted to check it out for more of the beer/wine side of things (or drink coffee at night, you do you). I'll be back again soon I'm sure since I still have many, many things to study.

Yelp
The coffee farm Selva Negra in Nicaragua is a magical place, and that is where I first learned about Java Vino. I was looking forward to trying Selva Negra coffee back in my backyard since I had such an amazing time at the source. The tour was super duper cool, led by a funny and informative guide; I enjoyed learning about all Selva Negra's eco-friendly practices such as composting and using non-chemical pest control. And of course, the coffee is phenomenal. You can't beat sipping coffee right where the beans originated. So recently, the opportunity came up to try Java Vino, with a little help from my pal Scoutmob. First off, the parking lot is reminiscent of a ride at Six Flags, with a steep and tight hill. It was pretty packed tight so we had to park on the roller coaster part of the lot. Once inside, the gal making the drinks gave off a slightly caustic vibe. While I was asking my companion if we should get paper cups or mugs, she crisply stated that they were out of mugs. The guy at the cash register tried to make up for the woman by being very nice, so I felt bad when I declined him asking if we wanted any food. But being out of mugs? You're a coffee place! We sipped our strong drip coffee (very fairly priced even without Scoutmob) amongst the Apple laptopped patrons. The drip coffee was great. JV is A-OK, as the Yelp stars suggest. Selva Negra gets 6+ stars. There's a space upstairs that was being used for what looked like a child's birthday party. You can apparently rent it out for private functions. I saw one woman go to her parked car in the Manuel's parking next door lot which you are not supposed to do. Bad lady.

Yelp
This review pertains to booking their upstairs wine lounge for a private party (baby shower). I contacted Page on the morning of Thursday July 14 to book their upstairs area from 1-5pm on a Saturday in August. She replied late afternoon Friday July 15 stating that the requested time was not available but that either 8am-12pm or 6pm-close was available. Sat Jul 16, I emailed her stating that some people were against the 8am time but we would still be interested in the 6pm-close slot and I would let her know as soon as we decided (within a few days). In that email, I ask verbatim "Could you keep me posted if you receive any other inquiries before I can get back to you?" Page's response was: "No problem, I know that 8am is early, lol. Just let me know!" Tues Jul 19 evening, my sister-in-law visits the space to confirm it'll work for us (I am in Houston and can't come see it in person). My SIL sends Page an email immediately after her visit, requesting to confirm the booking. No response from Page. So on Wed Jul 20, I emailed the signed confirmation form I was given by Page with my credit card info, letting her know we would like to proceed with the 6pm-close option that she had proposed. Page then responds "that timeslot was rented this morning". I express to her my disappointment particularly because I had asked that she tell me if she receives any other inquiries. She then claims that this other person had contacted her before me but that "Not having heard from her in a few days, I assumed she was no longer interested, but she confirmed this morning." So she also ignored the email that came the night before from my SIL, opting to accept the booking request she received the next morning instead. So not only did Page propose a time to me that was already being recently discussed with another group but on three occasions (when I specifically asked, when my sister-in-law visited, and when my SIL emailed her), she never mentioned that there was other interest in the space that conflicted with my time. Furthermore, she then allowed someone else to book the timeslot we had been discussing even after admitting herself that she assumed they were no longer interested (meanwhile we had been actively communicating with her almost daily). Lastly I tried to call her to better understand what happened, literally seconds after receiving her email, because I wanted to clear up any misunderstandings before posting a review and because I wanted to consider other options/dates/times which would be easier to discuss over the phone. However she didn't answer, and has yet to call me back. Since this is now my 2nd attempt to speak with her over the phone to no avail, it seems she only wants to communicate through email, which is also unacceptable for an event manager. When you're managing event bookings and if you have even a modicum of interest in long-term customer relationship-building, then transparency, communication and trust are all important. And I found Page's handling of this booking request to be (at best) incredibly disorganized and (at worst) highly deceptive and unprofessional. Not to mention, it resulted in significant time being wasted for my sister-in-law and me. So while it seems this establishment might be good to visit for a casual drink, I would never recommend them for booking a private event and encourage you to look elsewhere for such needs.

Yelp
JavaVino has become one of my favorite coffee shops in Atlanta. The baristas are great, they have a frequent buyers club, and great coffee selection. Dirty Nekkid Man is their coffee of choice. I personally love the nutty mocha, but only have that occasionally. I've never had a problem finding parking or a place to sit, even though the place is on the smaller side. One of the only coffee shops that had a lot of carb free options for breakfast. But they also have some good carb options. Not to mention they have emerald city bagels which are amazing. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
Laid back. Decent internet speed. Savory and sweet snack options with awesome coffee, tea, wine, and beer selection. I love spending late afternoons/early evenings here to work on hw or just unwind during the weekends. Employees are super nice. I love sitting by the window to people watch while on my laptop or phone.

Yelp
I went here on a Saturday morning for a first (online) date. I had an iced mocha and some zucchini bread. The mocha was great, but the zucchini bread, having just come from the refrigerated case was very cold. It was good, though. The thing I liked about this place was that it was cute and not a chain but still not over crowded. There was one student doing work on her computer, and one other person on the sofas in the back. Everyone else was at the outdoor seating. Also, there's parking in the back, and that's good.

Yelp
When I need to study AND get great coffee, l come here. The wine is also on point. The environment is relaxed and friendly. But most importantly, the customer service is always great.
