"Jay Bharat is one of the oldest restaurants in Artesia’s Little India, and one of our favorite spots to spend a quiet afternoon eating thali. These stainless steel platters include several small bowls of rice, dal, sambar, chutney, raita, and vegetable curry. Depending on which thali you order, you’ll get slightly different combinations of sides and your choice of fried bread to go with it. Our favorite is their classic Gujarati thali, which comes with soft roti to rip and dip into creamy yogurts, lentil broths, and fragrant pickles." - nikko duren, brant cox

"Jay Bharat is a great spot to stop in for a big meal or even something small, with a menu that features snacks like chaat, the sweet, salty, sour, crunchy, street food that comes in various forms. Start a meal with a plate of dahi puri, and the small plate will satisfy anyone in the moment without ruining the appetite. Jay Bharat also serves Gujarati treats like patra, taro leaves wrapped with lentil flour and spices, and served with sweet and spicy chutneys." - Virali_Dave

I recently dined at this restaurant and had a mixed experience. I ordered the mini thali with undhiyu and chole sabji. The chole was flavorful, and the overall thali tasted good. However, the undhiyu was missing muthiya, which is a key component of the dish, so it didn’t feel quite authentic. I also tried the Mysore masala dosa, which was decent, but the red masala spread was very minimal. It tasted more like a regular masala dosa, so I was hoping for a stronger Mysore flavor. Lastly, I ordered the sev khamni, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet expectations. The texture and taste were off—we couldn’t eat more than a spoonful. Service was another area that could be improved. Our server didn’t seem very attentive and even banged the disposable water glass on our table, which felt a bit rude. Overall, the food had some highlights, but there were a few misses as well. I hope to see improvements next time because the menu has great potential!

This restaurant serves authentic Indian food and many delicious dishes. Only thing we didn’t like was it’s extremely noisy as Indians customers don’t care about others. Very rude customers.

I had the pleasure of dining at this amazing Gujarati restaurant, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! I tried their Kathiyawadi Thali, and it was hands down the best I’ve ever had. The highlight of the meal was the Bajra na Rotla—fresh, warm, and perfectly paired with traditional sides like undhyu, Gujarati kadhi, and the delightful mohanthal for dessert.

Awesome delicious thali and dosa. There are many great options for South Indian food in artesia but this is one that I find myself coming back to frequently. This is an incredibly tasty meal!

The Kathiyawadi thali comprised the following: khichdi (good); kadhi (probably a good example of its type but too sweet for my liking); the same excellent sev-tamatar; dhokli/gatte (an excellent sabzi of besan “dumplings”); ringan-bateka, a potato-eggplant sabzi (very good); bharthu, the Kathiyawadi incarnation of baingan bharta (excellent); and the same gulab jamun, khaman and papad trio. Rounding out this thali were a regular roti and a very good rotlo (or thick bajra/millet roti).

Came for the pani puri and dosa and they are both very good. It's my first time trying pani puri and definitely won't be my last. The fried bread is crunchy and it's the perfect vehicle to deliver the chickpea, potato, tamarind chutney filling. We got the dosa with cheese, tomato, and onion. The outside had a nice crisp, followed by the nice savory filling. One order comes with 2 good size dosa. Last thing we had are the potato samosa, which was a little too dense for my liking.

The service was good. When we entered they had opened 30 minutes before. The cook time was reasonable- it wasn’t brought out too soon(like it was pre frozen), but it also didn’t take too long. The food was enjoyable. We ordered each person their own plate and one for the table. Portions are a little small so you might have to buy more than one thing. The bathroom was okay, there was no mirror. Overall a good experience.

I have been going to Jay Bharat for the last 45 years and back then the food was very good enjoyable to visit when compared to today Feb 21,2025. I ordered Dahi Puri, Bhel, Pav Vada and Tea. The best part was the Tea everything else was below Par had no taste to the food and expensive. It’s beyond my comprehension why Indian Food in SoCal is so Horrible and Expensive. Folks I have no bias at all and this is an Honest Review - Please don’t throw your money going to bad restaurants we deserve good food for our hard earned money.
