The 11 Best Indian Restaurants In Artesia's Little India - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Jay Bharat is one of the oldest restaurants in Little India, and one of our favorite spots to spend a quiet afternoon eating thali. These stainless steel platters include several small bowls of rice, dal, sambar, chutney, raita, and vegetable curry. Depending on which thali you order, you’ll get slightly different combinations of sides and your choice of fried bread to go with it. Our favorite is their classic Gujarati thali, which comes with soft roti to rip and dip into creamy yogurts, lentil broths, and fragrant pickles." - nikko duren, brant cox

Google
First time back post renovations. And wow! Not only is the interior immaculate, but the food quality is outstanding. Reasonable prices too Dev sev puri is *chef’s kiss*
Kachoris amazing White dhokla was ok Can’t go wrong with the thalis Chai was really really good Food came out quick! Service was outstanding Really warm, welcoming energy. The branding is stellar (from furniture, plates/cups, art on wall, storytelling with history of the family business, all of it!) Could be my new favorite spot in Artesia. It’s a welcomed change from Rajdhani and Podi Dosa for high quality good food!

I’ve been coming to Jay Bharat regularly, about every two weeks, and it’s always been a good experience. They serve authentic Gujarati food, and the flavors feel genuine and comforting. My friends and family love eating here, which says a lot. They’ve recently renovated the space, and it’s now pretty big with plenty of seating. I usually come on weekdays, and it’s not that busy, which makes the experience more relaxed. Today I tried the onion chili kulcha, and it was spicy fire 🔥 and loaded with flavor. You really can’t go wrong here.

Google
The food was good, and the restaurant has been remodeled, so it looks very nice inside. We ordered a Gujarati thali, momos, and vada pav. Everything was delicious, except the momos, which were a bit dry on top.

Kathy C.

Google
This place was one of my favorite south Indian vegetarian restaurants in Little India. It went through a large renovation recently and expanded to twice the size with much more modern decor. Food is still good. Will be coming back for more doses and thalis.

ritesh J.

Google
That Gujarati thali I had was absolutely amazing! The variety of dishes was incredible, with so many different flavors and textures all on one plate. Every bite was a delicious adventure, from the sweet to the savory. It really showcased the best of Gujarati cuisine. I'm already thinking about going back for another one!

Google
We went to check out the new remodel they did. We ordered dosa which wasn’t cooked crispy despite we telling them. The sauces we extremely bland ketchup would have tasted better coconut chutney was watery. We got eggplant sabji that tasted ok. Got some dahi puri it was good We ordered mango lassi. Somehow they ran out of it and asked either we can change or refund.. Decided to try the cold coco and a falooda drink. Falooda drink was like water downed. The cold coco was okay seemed like a lot chocolate syrup. Got Italian samosa that tasted fine. Place looks great people were helpful but the food quality and taste seems it went backwards.

Krupa K.

Google
So delicious! Highly recommend this for picky Gujjus. Authentic food that tastes like Mom’s! They have specialty Gujarati dishes not found in most restaurants. Fresh and hot food with the perfect flavors and spice levels! Can’t wait check out their new Fremont/ Bay Area location!

Viraj G.

Google
This place has re-opened at the same location but in a much bigger space. They still have maintained the same great taste and added a few more options to their menu. We love their vadapav and Thali. Some items can be perfected. The staff is courteous and welcoming. Ample free parking available on the street for up to one hour. This place has restrooms for customers and is wheelchair accessible.

Yelp
Delicious Indian food at a great price! Lots of vegetarian options for those who don't eat meat. Even if you do eat meat, you won't miss it here. Staff was friendly and attentive. Restaurant was nice and clean.
google avatar

Ritu R.

Yelp
They are finally open!! Its now double the size and they have more staff. Prices are not available until you get to the POS. Decor is really nice and personalized.

Yelp
Once upon a time, we started our progressive Diwali celebration here. We enjoyed the Bhal dish. It was terrific! Perfect amount of chutney with a tremendous crunch! We loved it! The samosas were equally good. We will be back! We really liked the new, updated look, too! The end.

Yelp
Dine in service is excellent. Food quality is excellent they give you enough food for what you pay for. The restaurant is very clean. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Yelp
The food tastes homemade. Delicious every time. Clean, nice set up and minimalist decor

Acira M.

Yelp
My favorite place to come with my grandparents! Prices and portions are amazing and everything on the menu is packed with flavor. My favorites are the dahi sev puri and the pav bhaji. The dahi sev puri is sweet and savory and has the perfect mixture of textures. The pav bhaji is savory and spicy and is packed with veggies and paired with toasted bread.
google avatar

Sharad R.

Yelp
Excellent ambiance and food quality only one suggestion is remove palm oil from all snacks please not good for cardio health and make butter biscuits bite size not so large since they crumble when bitten or dipped in chai! Bite size would make it a delicacy . Thank you. We have been coming there 35 years
google avatar

Hiral S.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to their opening and decided to stop by over the Diwali weekend. The new place is large and really nicely done. It was good to see some of the familiar faces. I ordered the usual kathiawadi Thalia and was really surprised to see that their famous undhiyu was oily and didn't have the traditional ingredients. The yam was uncooked. The prices have gone up significantly and I would have been ok if the food was good. Hope they take his feedback and we can go back to the old Jay Bharat which was my fav place for some gujarati food.
google avatar

Uday M.

Yelp
The food was good and they were able to accommodate Jain restrictions for one member of our group. Everything came out quickly although they forgot about one drink (we had to ask them to remove it from our check). The amount of curry in the combo dish was a little small, but whatever was there was fresh and flavorful.
google avatar

Anjali A.

Yelp
If you haven't been in a while, Jay Bharat has completed revamped their restaurant. It is larger and way more modern but what they haven't changed is the authenticity of their Gujarati food. I have gone several times in the last month including today and their Kathiyawadi thali is wonderful as is their pain puri, dahi sev puri and masala dosa. The service is fast and people there are kind. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner!
google avatar

Rajul V.

Yelp
The food was very good, the service was great with very pleasant staff, and the seating area was clean and spacious.

Jackie B.

Yelp
Used to be my favorite restaurant before upgrade. After upgrade food quality is worst and prices are doubled. Severed cold thali and never bothered to ask even water. 25$ for stupid limited thali is watae , all curries and rice cold and very small quantity. Sweet is stale Never visit this place again , especially for thali
google avatar

Sakul A.

Yelp
Very impressed by the new renovated JB. The space is very open, clean, and bright. I love the plaques on the wall with the origin story of the restaurant as well. Food is even better than before. Bhel was awesome, chole was maybe even better. Service was overall good, highly recommend.
google avatar

Eknath D.

Yelp
Good home cooked type meal. Authentic Gujrati and Kutcchi cuisine in nice new friendly setting. All vegetarian and vegan as well as Jain options. Recommend highly for simple delicious vegetarian snacks and meal. Packaged snacks, desserts as well as precooked frozen Indian food also available for take out
google avatar

Anvita S.

Yelp
Would probably choose another Indian restaurant from all the nearby options. Chaat was a bit stale. Paneer dosa was good, I liked the sambar and chutney. Thalis were just okay but we all loved the cheesy Italian samosas.

Anami P.

Yelp
Me & my family were excited to come for the remodeling. However, we were very disappointed in food quality. This is a place we have been coming to for at least 10 years. We ordered 4 crispy dosas and they all came out extremely soft as seen in picture I took. Crispy means crunchy and brown. We asked them to remake one to be crispy as we ordered it & guess what...they placed the same old dosa back onto the grill instead of making a new one!!!!! We love their mango lassis, but to our surprise they ran out at 3pm. Wow! Food wasn't the same as before taste wise. Chutneys barely had any flavor and were very much watery. Dosa flavor itself was bland and needed more salt.

Sam M.

Yelp
Wonderful expansion with lot of tables and comfortable chairs. Good Guju thalis, chaat and Mumbai menu along with idli dosa. Still prefer Surati for Mumbai street food and farshan, mittai
google avatar

Amisha S.

Yelp
One my favorite vegetarian indian place. I love the Thali and Kati rolls! It great indian fast food place. We have also catered from them numerous time, and everytime no complains!

S P.

Yelp
Jay Bharat food offers a symphony of flavors that truly satisfies the soul. My recent experience began with cheese paneer kulcha paired with raita. The Gujarati thali featured a rich, creamy authentic Gujarati flavored recipes. The spices were expertly balanced, providing warmth without overwhelming the palate. Beyond the delicious food, the service was attentive, and the inviting atmosphere made for a perfect evening. This restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic and flavorful Indian vegetarian cuisine. The renovation is welcoming. and you should try their cold cocoa.

Imrana F.

Yelp
Best food as always, expanded and renovated the Ambiance is great clean and very welcoming, service as always so good. Food arrived on time over all love this place and would recommend it to everyone

Chak L.

Yelp
From great ambiance to great service, fresh tasty food from appetizer to desserts. Restaurant is welcoming and staff are friendly. Thank you for providing top tier service!

Anu S.

Yelp
Food is good, the ambiance is beautiful. But the red plastic plates are a bit turn off.. I liked the steel cups for water.
google avatar

Debbie K.

Yelp
I gave kudos to a restaurant who put efforts to make dishes vegan. Especially for a vegetarian restaurant like this which most of the time to make things vegan are just taking a few easy steps. We enjoyed their Gujarati Thali and dosas. Their dessert Kaju Katli was veganized without milk or ghee. Their Dhokla is so soft and yummy. Love it!!! Their food are spicy (curries and sambhar) but we like it and can take it. The menu is marked on which items can be veganized. It cannot get better than that. We will be back!!!!

Zn L.

Yelp
Excellent Food and ambiance. Love the quick service and friendly staff. Love Punjabi Samosa, Potato Samosa and Nylon Khaman.
google avatar

Yelp
It was getting late but my pregnancy cravings for Dabeli were at a ridiculous high... my husband was able to find a vegetarian Indian place that had all of our faves! And let me tell you, the Dabeli hittt the spotttt! (As did the other 2 items!) pav bhaji was delicious, saying it's one of my favorite dishes and my mother's is my favorite, this still fulfilled the authentic taste and flavor. They made it relatively quickly and Uber eats was able to deliver within 45 mins. I would highly recommend this place for the chaat like foods!
google avatar

Morgan S.

Yelp
Jay Bharat catered our elementary school's Open House event. Everyone loved the food and has asked for us to have them return. In the future.
google avatar

Kirit S.

Yelp
It's best if you can eat at the restaurant itself, because taking Bhel Puri to go will have them packing the various "components" separately. That's fine, but much better if you can have them mix it and give it to you. Lots of things to go as well. I buy a lot each time I stop by here.
google avatar

Reshma A.

Yelp
We drove over an hour to eat the thali, and were a little disappointed. The puris did not taste like home, and the veggies were a little too oily. The dal and the vaal on the other hand were very good. The dosa was also alright.
google avatar

Dinesh S.

Yelp
Excellent food. Very homely ambiance and simple menu. Seevice is quick and straightforward. This is the no-nonsense Indian restaurant that serves authentic Indian food that you'd expect to get at someone's home cooked by their mom. Very comforting. Undhiyu was amazing. This is something you don't find in any other Indian restaurant across SoCal. Must vist.

Timothy D.

Yelp
Truly one of the best in this part of town. Over the years they have held it down as the most consistent and tastiest options around. If you're looking for something new to try, the Gujarati Thali as it has a few curries, a sambar, rice, and deli treats offered as one meal. They cater to all diets and are as accomodating as one can be. They offer dine in seating and take out as well.
google avatar

Naeem S.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and good weather and staff. People were great, friendly and professional. Service was fast and great
google avatar

Arya R.

Yelp
Every time I'm in Artesia I come here for Gujarati snacks and light bites. The samosas are perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with spiced potatoes and peas. Also pictured is the paper dosa with various chutneys.
google avatar

Shivesh K.

Yelp
Top quality Guju thali, all veg options available, the dosa was even great. Sweets and snacks are sufficient for most tastes.
google avatar

Yiuing P.

Yelp
Wow, having eaten that meal, I feel like I've been transported to Gujarat, India. The quality of the food was so excellent, and as a carnivores we didn't expect to feel satisfied, but satisfied we were. And just so excellent from the appetizers to the dessert. The prices might be a little bit higher than your average Indian fare, but the quality of the food is worth it. Appetizers Potato Samosas- (4) piping hot and great taste. 4.5/5 taste. Soft, delicate, fluffy. $6.99 White Dhokla (7-9 pieces) $6.99 we tried these upon seeing a previous review. First time having a Dhokla. Like a steamed rice cake but more like blocks of fluffed polenta- they were buttery, and came with a nice vegetable curry/soup. Main Gujarat Thali $17.99 I'm Not sure if Thali means "banquet" But that's what it feels like. You've got three different types of curries, And three different types of starches basmati rice, roti, and paratha (crispy thin chip like bread). On top of that you also have a small little Samosa like pastry ball, and a Dhokla like savory polenta like piece, a pumpkin soup, spicy pickles, and Raita. And on top of that you have a drink that's like a salty Lassi with fennel, tamarind and mint sauce, AND a thick lemon custard dessert. It was amazing array of items, and definitely one of the reasons we felt like we were transported in time and place. Mysore Marsala Dosa $11.99 This was Personally my favorite item. It was actually the first time I've ever had dosa, And yet I feel I will be disappointed the next time I have it if it is not here. The dosa was huge crispy and flavorful and it had a nice spicy spicy with a gummy thinness. We pondered on the possibility that crepes Originated in the Indian culture instead of the French culture. There was a lovely potato spice mixture inside and I love the orange sauce on the side that was kind of like a creamy tomato spicy sauce. I was also a white sauce that had some mustard seeds and curry leaves in it that was not too spicy but a nice change of pace. 7/5 taste! Dessert Sweet Roti (2 pieces) $6.49 These lovely Kruti or her about 5 inches each in diameter and filled with a sweet potato filling. It reminded me of roasted Japanese sweet potatoes. It came with a slightly salty yogurt sauce. 4.5/5 (my husband gobbled them up!) The almond sweet at the counter is divine. The bitter one- they warn you- is pretty bitter. But so delicious, and then the bitterness kicks you in the mouth. Service Don't know if they were different people or if it was kind of slow when we got there, but despite all of the bad reviews for service, I did not experience anything bad at all.
google avatar

NItin S.

Yelp
Good veg Eatery. Everything was made to our liking. (Your mileage may vary) Plenty to choose from. We not only ate but packed some to go on the way out.
google avatar

Shaili S.

Yelp
On our LA trip, we got a chance to try a lot different of places to eat, but Jay Bharat really hit the spot. We grabbed a Gujarati Thaali and a Kathyawadi Thaali to eat in our car - definitely a meal to remember. They packed everything up real nice, so all the food stayed warm and tasty. The Undhiyu and Shrikhand-Puri were just superb, and the Yam Vada was a hit with my husband. Only downer was trying to reach them by phone, we kept getting voicemail. But the food was so good, it made up for it. If you're craving authentic Gujarati grub in LA, do check out Jay Bharat.

Mike K.

Yelp
It was our first time, and two of the three of us didn't know Indian food very well. The staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic! Priced seemed fair for the quantity and quality.

Anurag M.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food! Consistently some of the best Indian food I've had the chance to eat. Amazing service as well!
google avatar

Mohib Q.

Yelp
While my family have been patrons of this store for more than 20 years, I've never seen such poor treatment of senior citizens until my last visit. The food - with a focus on Gujrati cuisine, Jay Bharat boasts dishes that focus on common snacks and vegetarian meals such as samosas, dhoklas, kachori and pav bhaji. Their servings are ample, but not grand so you'll find the sampling to be good for a somewhat hungry person. On this occasion we ordered off a special menu to the left of the cashier, offering a grouping of items - in this case garbanzo beans (which they forgot until I told them), three pieces of roti (about six inches in diameter), daal/lentil and a paneer vegetable curry. While I had hoped for adequate amounts, I found a very shallow tray with little to no offerings. I also found that the missing garbanzo beans became a monumental issue for the owners that went unaddressed to me for some time. They didn't even talk to me about the issue nor confirm it was one. I wish I could have liked them more, but I think their standards keep on going lower. They have a high quality for food, but with low quantities and high prices for their thali's I find that the customer is getting little in return. While others like this place for great gol gappas, sweets and appetizers, I don't think I'll be back anytime soon.
google avatar

Thi T.

Yelp
Gujarati thali and masala dosa. Sooo good! The former has much variety. The dosa also came with a lot of delicious dips. I came twice, was hesitant about customer service due to reviews and unable to get through via phone. However, they were so friendly, professional, helpful. Both times had enough street parking. I look forward to coming again!
google avatar

Neelam S.

Yelp
I've grown up having Jay Bharat food and catering at events so I always knew that they would be part of our wedding day in some capacity. They are so good at what they do, from delicious food to managing a catering order. Parth was particularly great to work with, as he was incredibly responsive, and had an attention to detail that is sometimes hard to find in other caterers. From our initial conversation, it was clear we were working with professionals. Parth worked with us to create a mostly Jain and Vegan menu that was loved by all of our guests, and they handled a week of venue change with utmost professionalism. Jay Bharat continues to be a juggernaut in Southern California Indian catering, and we were so happy with our experience with them.
google avatar

Zeeshan Q.

Yelp
Pretty good good, the Gujurati Thali comes with a nice assortment of food, sides, and dessert. I personally love their masala dosas as it's not overloaded with potatoes, and they're not excessively spicy either. The daal and coconut chutneys are perfect sides, but the spicy chutney was way too spicy to handle.
google avatar

Jennifer E.

Yelp
I go to Jay Bharath once a month to stock up on frozen curries, dal and samosas. It's less than a quarter of the price of eating out in West L.A. and just as good. My son eats the curries daily with a bowl of rice. It's perfect! The dosas, chai, idli's and mango lassi's are also excellent.

Ramzan A.

Yelp
Great food. Their service gets a bit chaotic during busy days. Menu is excellent and the food is always fresh.
google avatar

Kundan S.

Yelp
Best Pav Bada here with the potato patty!! Great service and great food! I also get the shikhand from here to keep in my freezer because you never know when you get a craving, it never disappoints!
google avatar

Divya M.

Yelp
Always loved coming here when I was doing wedding preparation. The Italian Samosas are hands down the best item. I also love their Dahi Puri, vada pav, and dabeli. Really you can't go wrong with any of their food - everything is delicious!
google avatar

Satya v.

Yelp
I ate Dahi Bada today and it was tasteless , cold, Vada was very hard , green chutney had no flavor, i felt i wasted my money and very difficult to digest felt very uncomfortable . I will not go there again
google avatar

Ashwin A.

Yelp
Friendly , tasty, fast service , nice place to sit and buy some good Gujarati snacks. We tried thali, undhiyu and kachoris. They were all very tasty and sumptuous!

San M.

Yelp
Recent visit did not have good experience. Felt the food was reheated and served . Very disappointed - went with a lot of expectations
