Over the past weekend, we had this incredible guest visiting from London, an internationally renowned violinist who had just performed at the Schnitzer Hall. After her concert, she was in the mood for some samgyupsal, so I did some digging and decided to check out JCD, a new Korean BBQ spot in Beaverton.
My first impressions: impressively spotless for a bbq, modern design, and well managed. It’s got a chill vibe with a little bar in the corner for those who like their BBQ with a side of cocktails. And the service… it was AMAZING!
We ordered a set that included samgyupsal, brisket, and marinated pork, plus sides of gamjatang and soondae. The food was fantastic! Banchans were flavorful and kept coming nonstop.
We did run into a minor issue with one cut of meat being a little too fatty, so we respectfully asked the server if it could be replaced. The owner personally came out to address this issue. Not only did he replace it without hesitation but brought out a huge portion of marinated meat that was way more than we expected. Talk about customer service! He was so friendly and continued to check in with us making us feel like we were the only customers in the restaurant. But what I noticed was that he treated every table with the same level of care and attention that he showed us.
Oh, and here’s the kicker! The owner can now say that he had a KIA sponsored mega superstar violinist dining at his restaurant! Yes, Clara Jumi Kang herself was at our table and gave a huge thumbs up. She’s super humble and didn’t want to make a fuss, but honestly, that just adds to how great the night was.
In my opinion, JCD is a total gem. Tasty Korean-American food, stellar service, and reasonable prices makes this place one of the best Korean BBQ spots in the area. 10/10, highly recommend!
