The Best Spots for Rum Cocktails in Tampa | Eater

"If you’re looking for theatrics, no cocktail lounge in Tampa does it quite as well as this speakeasy tucked behind a Hyde Park bagel shop. Give the cashier that evening’s “special order” and you’ll be asked to take a seat until your name is called. Once it is, step back into a world of literary fantasy, where the menu is packed with drinks boasting creative presentations that are as much a part of the experience as the cocktails themselves. Try the appropriately named Open Sesame, made with bacon fat-washed Zacapa No. 23 Rum, pineapple cordial, pandan syrup, and lime. Or, opt for the Virtues Vice, featuring a split base with Zacapa Rum and dark rum, soursop, orange, Thai coconut, and lime." - Matthew Meltzer

It’s Manhattan Season — Here’s Where to Order One Around Tampa This February | Eater

"Put this address in your GPS and you’ll arrive at the Sesame bagel shop, whose tables seem oddly filled with well-dressed people very much NOT eating bagels. That’s because they’re waiting for their “order” to be called so they can step behind a nondescript curtain to Jekyll, the literary-inspired speakeasy hidden behind the bakery. The drink list isn’t so much a menu but a book, where excerpts from classic literary works accompany the cocktails they inspire. Many are mixed tableside by your server, who is equally well versed in literature and spirits. The best show of them all is the Lost In Translation, where a beaker of Angel’s Envy is steeped at a low temperature, just enough so its steam absorbs the botanicals from peach, saffron, peppercorns, and chilis above." - Matthew Meltzer

Memorable Night at Jekyll - HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE WHITE RABBIT (no photo available, sorry) From the moment we walked into Jekyll, we were swept into an enchanting, one-of-a-kind atmosphere that perfectly balanced elegance with intrigue. The ambiance alone is worth the visit—dim lighting, vintage decor, and an unmistakable speakeasy charm that sets the tone for a magical evening. What truly elevated our experience, however, was the outstanding service provided by Otis. Attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely personable, Otis made us feel like VIPs from start to finish. He guided us through the menu with thoughtful recommendations and made sure every detail was just right throughout the night. His warmth and professionalism were unforgettable. The food was equally impressive—creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. While some items on the menu are priced on the higher end, the quality and generous portions, along with a diverse and well-curated selection of bites and dishes, made everything feel absolutely worth it. It’s clear a lot of care goes into both the culinary experience and the overall atmosphere. I came with friends hoping for a fun night out, and we left already planning our return. Jekyll in Hyde Park delivered on every level and then some. Highly, highly recommended!

Great speakeasy if you are a fan of cocktails. They have this menu that tells stories about the cocktails and come with a very nice presentation and experience. We didn’t taste the food but cocktails were very good. Service was super friendly and accommodating and I recommend making a reservation because it gets pretty full. Thanks for everything

Had such a fun girls’ night out at Jekyll Speakeasy! It was such a cool experience — we entered through a bagel shop and had to order with a special code to get in. The atmosphere was amazing and definitely gave off that secret, exclusive vibe. The food was absolutely delicious, but just a heads-up: the portions are pretty small. The drinks were so creative and delicious — definitely the highlight! Overall, it was such a fun and unique experience. We’ll definitely be back for the vibes, the cocktails, and another unforgettable night out!

High Tea, Mysteries of Salem themed - my daughter and I attended and had an amazing experience. The food was great and service even better. The restaurant was decorated completely to fit the theme of the high tea making the atmosphere perfect. Our server Hadassah was very attentive and friendly, and Zack the floor manager made sure our experience was top notch. Will definitely be returning for another High Tea experience. Great for a mother daughter date, girls brunch, couples date, etc… 10/10 recommend.

Sooo Jekyll is a hidden speakeasy in Hyde Park. Their front is a small bakery, and you use a code for them to take you to the back. The ambience is low-lit, with soft music and a chill vibe. I really enjoyed that each drink has a story behind it, along with a book to read about each one. The food menu is more snack-based, with some main plate options. We could only have the table for 2 hours, so we had to move to the bar while finishing our drinks. I see people mention the drink prices, I’ll share my thoughts even though I don’t normally rate places based on prices, but more on the overall experience and food. I’d say the storytelling and presentation of the drinks add to the experience, but it’s not a place I’d sit and keep ordering drinks. It’ll be interesting to see how long it lasts. Overall, I think it’s a nice spot for a celebratory night or a date. What Was Ordered: Deviled Eggs = They were okay, not bad, but not the best I’ve had. Memories of Capri = I liked the balsamic taste.

An unforgettable experience with top-notch service! The staff did an excellent job accommodating our large party, making sure everyone felt comfortable and well taken care of. One of the most memorable parts of the evening was the unique entrance — walking through a coffee shop added a fun sense of mystery and excitement that everyone loved. The ambiance was vibrant and full of energy, perfectly complemented by lively music. The servers were outstanding — friendly, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable about the menu. From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations!

What an amazing night!! I was in awe of the beauty of this establishment! We walked through the CUTEST little bagel shop, and omg, the bagels look amazing! We might come back for those on another afternoon! Let me start by suggesting you sit at the bar. Because this is a COCKTAIL experience! Make sure that you find Juya and have him be your guide because he is phenomenal. This man is an artist at his craft, and his passion glows as he walks you through the amazing chapters of the menu. We tried the tasting menu and then ordered several cocktails and dinner as well. Everything was fantastic. I highly suggest the truffle risotto if you like truffles because WOW and the beef tartar might be the best thing I've ever had in my life. I just loved everything. And our evening finished with a hot cookie and a bourbon vanilla milk for dipping. Everything was delicious. I cannot wait to go back!! I want to try the Peking duck so bad!!! This is a true hidden gem in tampa!
