The 12 Best Breakfast Spots In Denver 2024

"There are two types of breakfast eaters in this world: the ones who take full advantage of  the prevalence of sugary sweets like doughnuts and cinnamon roll pancakes in the morning, and the card-carrying members of Team Savory. Both camps can eat in harmony at Jelly, where the pancakes and scrambles are among the best in town. Just as crowd-pleasing is the nostalgic diner set-up, complete with counter stools, marquis lights, and classic cereal boxes on the walls. (Remember Breakfast with Barbie?)" - allyson reedy

Google
really cute and chill cafe! i love the retro decor and their original spins on classic foods. got the iced coffee and veggie burrito and it was delicious. i couldn’t believe the chili on top was vegan. our waiter was so sweet we told him it was our first time and he gave us fresh little donuts! definitely recommend for a cute little brunch date.

Google
Quirky breakfast/lunch restaurant in the Denver University area. The hillside Scramble was good with sausage and eggs. The side potatoes were also good and the biscuit was very good, but huge. One of the lighter items might be a better choice for me next time; this was a lot of food. Service was prompt and attentive. The space itself is interesting with old cereal boxes decorating the walls. The booths are a tight fit for large people. They do have password protected Wi-Fi available for guests. Parking isn't an issue early in the morning, but can be much more difficult later in the day.

Google
The food was fantastic. Got the breakfast burrito and the pressed Cuban sandwich. Both were very good. The burrito was a generous portion, the sandwich had just a hint of a spicy kick. Magnifico. I was underwhelmed by the donut holes. The donut itself wasn't anything to brag about, it relied totally on the topping for flavor and taste. The bathrooms were a little gross, and that feeling was compounded by the hundreds of "garbage pail kids" cards they had lining the walls with rather distasteful images and names. I'd recommend the restaurant though, good place to get brunch!

Google
I visited this restaurant for breakfast on a weekday morning and was very disappointed, especially given its high ratings. Food: I ordered the Egg & Everything Loaded Toast, which the menu said comes with a morning greens salad. The salad itself was simple but fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, the toast was bland and lacked any real flavor. The menu described it as having “roasted corn,” but as you can see from my photo, the corn was not roasted at all — just plain and underwhelming. My son ordered the breakfast burrito, which came half filled with pulled pork and half with chorizo. The pulled pork side was fine, but when he got to the chorizo end, it was just one big clump of meat that he had to spit out because it was so unappetizing. Service: The service was equally disappointing. Our server only came by three times: once to drop off drinks, once to take our order, and once to deliver the food. No one checked in to see how our meals were, and we didn’t get any refills on water or coffee. After waiting about 20 minutes after we finished eating, I had to go to the hostess stand myself just to ask for our check, which took another 5 minutes because no one was at the hostess stand. To top it off, when I looked at my receipt afterward, I noticed I was charged an extra $0.75 for the salad — which was supposed to be included — plus an automatic 5% kitchen gratuity that wasn’t mentioned beforehand. Overall, this was a really disappointing experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my visit. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, because right now it does not live up to its good reviews.

Google
Nice place to have breakfast near Denver University. Coffee was really good, food was fresh and tastes pretty good. I like their menu with lots of options to order from, wish they were open till late evening.

Google
Stopped in for breakfast. Grabbed a seat outside. Traffic is noisy, but I have an ability to tune it out, so while it annoyed my boyfriend a wee bit, I was too busy appreciating the nice weather to notice..🙃 The menu offers relatively unique items and I like that. I also noticed pancakes can be made gluten free for you celiacs out there. I ordered the corned beef hash, he ordered the Boulder, and together we ordered cinnamon sugar & lemon donut bites. Half cafe latte for his drink, which he enjoyed. Donuts came out first. Cake donuts. Tasty. The lemon on the other hand.... 😐 Tasted a bit like applesauce with an over amount of lemon extract thrown in. I didn't like it at all. We both enjoyed the cinnamon. E enjoyed his Boulder. As for my hash.... It appeared, and tasted like, it was leftover from yesterday and reheated. The eggs were cooked well, but the potatoes were shriveled and hard as a rock. See side by side photo of one of his potatoes next to one of mine. There is another picture of my potatoes up close, but I didn't have a way of showing just how hard they were. The beef, though quite hard and dry, was tasty mixed with the egg and singular onion piece. Our waiter was pleasant, attentive, and knowledgeable.

Google
Love this place, food and service is always amazing! A little hectic when busy as it’s a small place but always worth the wait when there is one! The Ultimate Biscuits and gravy add scrambled eggs is 🔥 and SUPER filling!

Google
The food is pretty good here! The restaurant has a fun and cute aesthetic to it. Would have definitely given 5 stars if it weren’t for the service. Everyone was very nice but it seemed as though they forgot about us when we asked for the check. We waited about 30 mins and had to ask 3 different people for it. Anytime we tried to call someone over we were completely ignored. I feel as if we didn’t keep asking we would have never been noticed. Other than that the food was great and the wait wasn’t bad at all!

Yelp
Keep hearing about this place since I moved to Denver. Is busy when trying to go during morning break feast times on the weekend. Has about a 45min queue wait so might be smart to get into the waiting queue while driving over. I got the bacon jalapeño pancakes which were great with some a side of rustic potatoes. The potato's weren't crazy but you go here for the donuts. There are many different flavor options and they are bite size so you can get a couple and try a few. Which I love!
google avatar

Yelp
Meh. It has more appeal visually, than culinary. The menu is extensive and exciting, and portions are large...but ultimately the taste is simple. The hash could benefit from an additional protein and flavor. Staff was nice and service was quick, even on a Saturday morning.

Yelp
My husband and I eat at Jelly frequently, and we always go back! It's affordable, delicious, and usually not too long of a wait. The restaurant is diner style, but with some more modern colors thrown in, and is well decorated with vintage cereal boxes and art. The breakfast burrito is always delicious, and big enough to take home leftovers. My husband switches his order around, but loves the biscuits and gravy as well as the chilaquiles. I rated 4 stars because the food is a bit inconsistent in terms of flavor, but it's never different enough that we don't enjoy it. Jelly is a classic for our family!

Yelp
I really like this location. It's close to me and conveniently place. Our severs were cool. Nothing super special not super negative. There was the downside that they didn't give us cutlery when we sat down. We didn't even have it when the food came. So that was kind of annoying, but not a deal breaker. They also didn't bring creamer for my friend's coffee, even though they asked him if he wanted some. Again, annoying but not a deal breaker. It was a Sunday so I'm sure there was a lot going on. The food though was delicious. Got a Basic Breakfast with a cinnamon roll pancake, and of course, a mimosa. Sweet and savoury is always my jam. My friend got the Eggs Benedict and his kiddos got pancakes. One tip: ask for the potatoes CRISPY!!! Their soft potatoes just ain't it. I need to start coming here more often.

Yelp
I love Jelly and I was excited to try this location as I usually go to the one closer to Capitol Hill. The menu was the same and I had my usual favorite: Aztec rice hash. It is the perfect combination of savory, sweet and spicy! The dish comes with toast and fresh house strawberry jam, which was divine. I also shared the crunch berry French toast with my friend and it was incredible and so unique. The atmosphere is wonderful with natural light, friendly staff, clean environment and cute retro decor. Jelly offers a wide selection of sweet and savory foods and always a great experience.

Yelp
We came here for Mother's Day and were very excited to try this place. We loved the decor, all the retro cereal boxes all over the walls were awesome. We did have a reservation and were late by 3 minutes and they did give our table to another party so we ended having to wait an hour after our reservation on the wait list. That was a little frustrating but they did make it up to us by covering the first round of drinks for everyone. Our server was awesome and he took great care of us on a busy day. The food was amazing, everyone got something different and they loved it. This has become one of our new favorite breakfast spots. If you want some amazing breakfast give Jelly a try!!

Yelp
Can confirm Jelly is celiac / GF friendly! GF donut holes in the first photo. Staff seems knowledgable and sensitive & it's a fun place for groups on a weekend AM! Reservation recommended for brunch-ing I can't speak for the non-GF food as a celiac bruncher, but my non GF friends seem to enjoy their meals! As a celiac diner I mostly focus on 1. Variety of options on a menu and 2. Execution of food tastiness. While Moxie on broadway is still my favorite Denver brunch spot, Jelly is perfect for a larger group brunch and a more classic dining experience!

Yelp
Bland, uninspired food. The scramble was soggy and felt like prison/cafeteria food. The potatoes tasted almost boiled - I've done better at home. The gluten free toast was the best thing on the plate, which is saying something. The atmosphere is cute, but it doesn't make up for the absolutely abysmal food.
google avatar

Yelp
Get out of bed, don't bother to brush your hair (because no one cares), throw on whatever you're comfortable in and head over to Jelly!!! I don't know how this place doesn't always carry a perfect 5 star rating! Are you vegan? The veggie biscuits and gravy are for you! I don't know what's in that gravy, but it's smooth and delicious! I could go for some right now actually! Their sourdough with a side of homemade jelly is yummy! I can't get enough of their pineapple juice. For all I know, it's from concentrate, but it tastes fresh to me! The service is 5 stars always!

Yelp
I absolutely adore Jelly Cafe. I am new to the area, but have eaten here 5 times. Their eggs bene and the Wisconsin Scramble are my favorites.
google avatar

Yelp
My recent visit to Jelly was nothing short of exceptional. The gluten-free donuts were an absolute standout, offering a delightful and indulgent treat for those with dietary restrictions. The omelettes were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor, and the out-of-this-world bloody Mary's were a delightful addition to the meal. And let's not forget the gluten-free lavender pancakes- they were a true delight. Jelly truly sets itself apart with its exceptional gluten-free offerings, making it a must-visit for those with dietary restrictions.

Yelp
No complaints. The service was good and prompt. Even better was the food. I got two cinnamon roll pancakes and a side of bacon alongside it. It was great. It's a cool looking place too.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Cafe gets very busy but the waitlist online stays up to date and moves fast. The staff puts in a lot of work to make sure everyone is taken care of in a timely matter and the food is great. Really loved the Aztec Rice Hash, had a bit of a kick but delicious. The avocado toast was refreshing and light. Donuts are always good. Great place and worth it, but prepare to wait 20-30 min especially on the weekends.

Yelp
Jelly was our brunch stop after a morning at the Denver Botanical Gardens. We didn't wait long to be seated, despite the place being packed. Let's talk about the fab parts first. The place is cute, a bit of a throw back to the late 80s and 90s with cereal boxes lining the walls. Absolute flashback. The servers were also friendly. They were slammed and this likely impacted a few things with our order, but they were always friendly and smiling. The donut bites were delish. If you've been but haven't had these, what are you waiting for? We had 8 - 4 of the seasonal special and 4 of the cinnamon sugar. Yum. Most everyone in my party enjoyed their mail, minus me. Isn't that a bummer when your meal doesn't stand up to what you see on other plates? Our friends were gluten free and raved over the bread - cakier and much tasty than they are accustomed to having. My partner spoke well of his dish. Mine? Not so much. I ordered the Haco Chili Benedict and left 3/4 of it on the plate. I ordered a Bloody Mary and left it also. The biscuits were very undercooked and raw. The bloody was incredibly salty. Sad girl that morning, lol. We'll go back. One dish outta four was likely a fluke. And I'll opt out of the bloodies.

Yelp
This restaurant is addictive! I am in love with their eggs benedict. My spouse loves their pancakes. We both love their lattes. The restaurant itself is very cute. Old time cereal boxes adorn the walls. Really a great throw back to childhood.
google avatar

Alejandra D.

Yelp
Great breakfasts! We had the classic breakfast and the scramble breakfast with cheeses and bacon. Both dishes were delicious! Great portions and their cafe au lait was good too. Their strawberry jelly is so tasty! Very cool place :)
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for Saturday breakfast with my partner. Seating inside, at a small bar, and an outdoor covered patio. Was able to get seated within 10 minutes. They do have a waitlist in Yelp, which is super helpful because it's gets busy quick. The hostess and wait staff were great, took orders quickly and always grabbing empty plates. I got the pancakes and my partner got a Benedict. Both were awesome. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Lana B.

Yelp
What a cute spot! I enjoyed my cup of coffee while sitting in the brightly colored atmosphere to avoid the previous winter storm.
google avatar

Keionna C.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere! I absolutely love the early 90s vibe and the food is awesome. Get the pancakes!
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
Great spot for some warm gluten free donuts! Highly recommend them. My friend and I also grabbed some drinks which were amazing! The atmosphere is cozy and colorful. The service was super quick and fun. A great spot for a early morning breakfast run!

lisa c.

Yelp
Food off the chain! Best GF cinnamon roll pancakes! Thought i was at the Griddle in Hollywood! But GF!!! Service friendly and fast! Husband had Hash, said it was good! Mocha perfect temperature, really hot! Definitely worth the trip! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I don't usually write negative reviews but my partner and I were hugely disappointed by our experience at Jelly today. I ordered the haco chili benedict and found it to be inedible. While the egg was nicely poached, the biscuit did not have the structural integrity to hold up the chili and turned into a wet slop with absolutely no texture at all. It felt like eating baby food. The potatoes that came on the side were cold and unseasoned. My partner ordered the bacon pancakes and they had a gummy, undercooked texture. The mixins (bacon, corn, scallion) were sparse so the whole experience was bland, but the gummy texture was what made it inedible. We did not eat even half of either plate and we did not take our leftovers home (almost unheard of in our budget-conscious household!) We also ordered a plate of 8 donut holes, which were okay but not great, and the toppings were hit or miss. Salted caramel, thai peanut mexican chocolate, cinnamon sugar, and maple bacon were good. Avoid the lemon, jelly, and creme anglaise. I'm sorry to say that we won't be back.
google avatar

Glenn T.

Yelp
I don't know of a time that I've ever been here that it's not busy. The food is well worth the weight and the staff is very helpful. The pancakes are out of this world and the homemade jelly is a good addition on anything.
google avatar

JayonBlay C.

Yelp
Long lines, so book a table first before heading out to the restaurant. Good size place to dine-in. Seating is best w/ 4 people or less IMO. Breakfast/brunch great menu choices Chili was great. Lots of tomatoes and flavorful. Both breakfast entree was great and simple. White mocha coffee great, have to grab it if your undecided. Will recommend!

Jackson I.

Yelp
I have been eating at Jelly for five years and it is about time I leave them the review they deserve. Sam, Patrick, and Willie are incredibly personable and professional. The food is consistently excellent and I always look forward to coming back. Do yourself a favor and go visit the lovely folks at Jelly.
google avatar

Kayla C.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, attentive staff, and wonderful menu and food selection. Everything was thoroughly enjoyed.

Preston S.

Yelp
The food is great, and the staff is always kind. There is normally a large wait and parking isn't ideal, but I love going for their brunch with friends.
google avatar

Schume C.

Yelp
Everytime we've gone here they are really great the price of the food is reasonable and it's such a cute atmosphere! The servers are attentive and kind, we have absolutely no complaints!
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
I really love this location. Plenty of street parking all around, fun and friendly staff, plenty of room to wait and a great meal ahead! During our last visit, we started with a variety of mini donuts. They mixed up our requested flavors so a couple didn't make it to the table but what we got was delicious. My favorites are the Thai peanut, salted caramel and maple bacon. These can be pretty filling so don't overdo it if you want to eat your actual meal. Everything we've ever tried here has been good. The biscuits are fluffy. The bacon always cooked the way we've requested. The potatoes deliciously seasoned. Jelly is a fun spot to bring your kids, out of towners or anyone who enjoys an upbeat atmosphere and some tasty food.
google avatar

Elise M.

Yelp
Delicious cinnamon roll pancakes and Boulder scrambled eggs. The cream anglaise and cinnamon sugar donuts were our favorites
google avatar

Anna N.

Yelp
Great stop for breakfast! While the jelly wasn't really the star of the show, I enjoyed a classic breakfast that was both yummy and filling. The decorations and overall ambiance of the place was my favorite part. Old school diner with vintage memorabilia and a modern touch with pops of bright colors. Service wasn't anything memorable, but wasn't bad. Overall, glad I stopped here and will be returning!
google avatar

Nicole T.

Yelp
Jelly serves up great dishes and service. We ordered 4 donut holes. I like that you can mix and match these sweet little treats. The cinnamon & sugar, Mexican chocolate and jelly filled donut holes were all tasty and perfectly sized. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it did not disappoint. The ham was thinly sliced and layered on the biscuit and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I appreciated the option to choose a side. I chose the mixed greens which came with mandarin orange slices and were drizzled in a berry vinaigrette. This slightly sweet salad paired nicely with the savory eggs Benedict. The seating was a little cramped because it was busy. The bench seat against the wall is small and our table was also pretty small so it seemed like we had to shuffle drinks and plates. Other than having to be a little careful with our table, Jelly is a fun breakfast spot.

Britney F.

Yelp
We ordered to-go from Jelly. We had two Aztec breakfasts which we have had many times before and was good. This time the rice was very crunchy and hurt your teeth to chew and the lentils weren't cooked at all either. The avocado had a very funky flavor to it. There was no berry saracha sauce on and it was super dry. We will never be ordering from here again! Also, when we tried to call to get it resolved there phone wasn't working and you can't leave a message. Horrible customer service!
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
We sat at our table for over 20 mins before someone came to take our order. My husband got black coffee and it came out absolutely scalding hot. Food was just OK. Donuts were disappointing- really bland flavor and dough was too dense for a good donut. I got the biscuits and gravy with the potato side. Gravy was good but biscuits tasted stale and dry and the potatoes were not cooked long enough. My husband got the salmon benedict which was decent I guess. Overall was not the best experience, I would not go again.

Marti C.

Yelp
I live in the area and have patronized Jelly for years. No more! The restaurant has "cheapened-out" with their protein ingredients. The turkey in the favored Molly Brown - a few shreds. The pulled pork, egg and chorizo in the breakfast burrito - where were they? It was a flavored, tortilla-wrapped, sliced potato burrito. What has happened to your ingredients?
google avatar

Marie L.

Yelp
The atmosphere is everything at Jelly U Cafe. The walls are lined with bright decor and retro cereal boxes. The chai latte was gorgeous & tasty, and the Aztec rice hash was filling & delicious. The cherry on top was the homemade biscuit served with my meal with the famous jelly spread of course! Great brunch spot to enjoy with friends.
google avatar

Maxwell M.

Yelp
The best part of coming here on the weekend is knowing you won't be alone in fighting your hangover. My cappuccino was a delicious start to my meal, and the wisco was excellent. I had to put my sunglasses back on halfway through the meal, but the food healed me by the time I left.
google avatar

Joanne L.

Yelp
I wanted to try Jelly but there was no parking. Even what was available on the street was only for an hour. Hopefully they can figure this out!
google avatar

Ben R.

Yelp
I used to love this place. See me review from 2016 below. Things are much different. Today It reeked of sewage, they served moldy water, and the cheese and fruit were spoiled. The servers barely spoke, and when I asked about the breakfast sandwich, he replied "it's a breakfast sandwich". Table was dirty and unstable, and my chair felt like it was going to break. This place has gone downhill. Please don't give them your money, you deserve better. Trust me

Hope R.

Yelp
My only complaint is the waitress was not very friendly and was annoyed when we asked a question! But the food was amazing. The restaurant is super cute! The best espresso martini I've ever had
google avatar

Jack S.

Yelp
Best thing about this place was probably their interior design. I was really disappointed that the donut bites absolutely sucked! Super hard, and jelly was not filled like the menu said. Dunkin' Donuts munchkins would've been 100 times better. And cheaper. The breakfast burrito was alright. Service took forever. Nice staff. Odd 5% kitchen gratuity added to check already. Won't be returning.
google avatar

Russ A.

Yelp
20% surcharge? Really? Just raise your menu prices. Good luck getting tips for your wait staff. Josh, Thanks for responding to the post. I fully support a livable wage, but it's much more palatable to the consumer if it's incorporated into the menu prices rather than seeing an additional surcharge. We're nickeled and dimed by airlines, cell phone companies, delivery services, tv apps, etc. It would be nice just to see a price and the required taxes.

Patricia B.

Yelp
First visit to Jelly, had heard good things about this restaurant. What a disappointment! Firstly, the iced tea tasted old and rancid. Ordered the basic breakfast; the 2 eggs were cold, the toast was old and cold, the potatoes were tasty. The unidentifiable, namesake, jelly had no flavor. Our server was pleasant but very rushed. Won't be visiting here anytime soon.
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
We had to sit at the bar to avoid a super long wait. Bar service was meh-they were pretty busy. We were excited by all the different gluten free items featured on the menu. The donut bites were insanely good. My favorite wax the Thai peanut and the maple bacon. We tried each of them! Loved the cornflake French toast and the ultimate biscuit. Coffee wasn't great. That and the service were our only complaints. Love having more fun GF food choices for my family!
google avatar

Ashley D.

Yelp
Yum! My breakfast here was really great. I got a quinoa bowl with Brussels sprouts and sweet potato. I also got the chilaquiles which were great! Inside is very retro & cute!

Emily H.

Yelp
I have to leave a review for our brunch yesterday because Jelly was on top of it. Last time I went to Jelly, probably over a year ago, it was terrible. Such awful service and food was ok. I decided to roll the dice and try it again yesterday because I keep thinking about the veggie biscuits and gravy. Yesterday was amazing! I put our name on the waitlist and when we showed we were seated immediately. Right away a server came to take our drink order. Our food came out quickly and was hot and delicious. Our waiter was attentive but, not annoying. It was a really good experience yesterday.
google avatar

Amy M.

Yelp
I love this place! The donut holes, French toast and Hillside scramble are our favorites!
google avatar

Dustin L.

Yelp
Ambiance is great, but it stops there. Service was poor and the food was bland. The signature mini donuts were fresh and hot but lacked a certain flavor donuts get from the oil they are fried in. Mexican chorizo on my hash lacked any of the seasoning to call it chorizo. It was really more like ground sausage. The Hollandaise was nothing like the mother sauce. Really more of a bernaise I mean holladaise does not have tarragon in it. I know they have salt because it's on the table but I don't think it ever makes it on the food, just didn't have any flavor. I would not recommend based on my first year experience.
google avatar

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
Upon entering, it didn't seem crazy busy and we were seated fairly quickly. The man that greeted us and sat us was literally mumbling and I couldn't hear him at all when we were supposed to follow him, so hopefully in the future he will speak up because a guest at your restaurant shouldn't immediately feel confused. Our food came out pretty fast and it was really, really good! They have sooo many gluten-free options, which ensures that I'll be coming back repeatedly. I wish more local spots would have gluten-free notices on their menus more prominently! Anyway- my avocado toast was so delicious although it could've used a little more salt. I don't think they did anything to the avocado besides smash it up. The greens and produce were super fresh and amazing. I also brought my sis who can sometimes be hard to please, but she was very happy with her sandwich! I'll be back!
