"Jelly Roll’s Goodnight Nashville is the latest entry to the wealth of celebrity Broadway bars. And it checks off most of the requirements for a post-2010 honky-tonk. Among its four floors, there’s an elevated stage for bands and plenty of bar space and seating for drinking and eating Southern-style dishes like hush puppies, mac and cheese, and a prime beef flat iron in a whiskey demi-glace. But Mr. Roll has put some signature touches on the space, including a bar on the second floor with the likeness of his wife, Bunnie Xo, and a tattoo parlor pop-up." - jackie gutierrez jones 2
"Jelly Roll’s gargantuan four-floor building is the latest in multi-level entertainment on the street. It reads a bit like drinking in a warehouse, but at least the gigantic space has a rockin’ band, comfy leather swivel seats, and a pretty solid burger with a cult following. Sometimes that Texas-raised Japanese wagyu patty in a potato bun is worthy of the hype, while other times the combo of secret sauce, onions, and jalapaños comes out of the paper wrapping a wet, soggy mess. The second floor is a more welcoming place to hang, but it does transform into a club with VIP service and DJs at night, and the rooftop with river views is a nice touch. There’s also a tattoo shop on the mezzanine, and that’s great, because when we think: tourists consuming more alcohol than they’re used to, we think: tattoo shop." - ann walczak
