Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams - Review - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Jeni’s is a respite from the approximately 6,891 bars in Wrigleyville. Not only is the ice cream here fantastic, but the staff is also very nice. As in, they will pretend not to be annoyed when you ask to try every single flavor they have - which you’ll want to do. Get one of the seasonal flavors, like sweet cream and biscuits (with biscuits actually mixed into the ice cream), or a classic like brambleberry crisp. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

We stopped here on our way to see the Hella Mega tour at Wrigley Field, and it was amazing!! Super convenient walk to the stadium, the staff was awesome, they were pretty busy but we were served super fast!! Every flavor I’ve tried is amazing, and the waffle cone is a MUST!!

Google
Flavors are different, interestingly delicious. I like the way the servers explain the flavors as you sample them. Their waffle cones are perfect too. Will definitely come back.

Google
Went on a Tuesday and the staff was super friendly and welcoming! She was patiently answering my questions about the least sweet flavour (personal favourite) and gave me 3 different flavours to taste. Payment was quick and no line at all(different from weekend) and I enjoyed my stay there. It’s a place that brings people fun and joy.

Google
Jeni’s NEVER disappoints!!! This is my favorite location to visit, the seating areas are always clean. The staff always offers warm greetings and never gets upset at how many tastings I ask for even though I end up getting my usual - two scoops of their delicious lavender. I was very sad when George’s ice cream (the establishment that occupied this space before) had closed but wow has Jeni’s blown me away.

Google
Such a cute location, and of course, amazing ice cream! You'll have a hard time deciding. I'm a huge dairy fan but was also pleased with their dairy-free Texas Sheet Cake ice cream. The seasonal pistachio macaron flavor was a lot of fun. The waffle triangle comes for free in a trio dish, but the three scoops also fit in a waffle bowl if you really like that extra crunch.

Google
We got this from DoorDash, and thought $14 was a lot for one pint of ice cream. I did take a look at their ingredients, and I must say, they were incredible. This is certainly a place for those willing to pay more for higher quality, cleaner ingredients, as the ice cream itself wasn’t anything special.

Google
Excellent and unique Ice cream flavors. Nice place to cool off pre-game and avoid noisy bar scene vibe if that's your thing. Very clean bathrooms. Only problem was the price. $16 for 1 small cone and 1 small dish. Location overhead probably accounts for that.

Dominic Ross

Google
Great store and great ice cream. Very pleasant staff and clearly taking precautions for pandemic safety very seriously and making the store all one way with plastic shielding and no seating indoors, they pretty much get you in and out with almost no contact. Pretty affordable, nice location near Wrigley Field. Also love the decorations and the personality of this particular store!

Yelp
Grass fed high quality ice cream brand. Location is near Wrigley and provides a non alcoholic alternative to hanging out. It's beginning to look like the most wonderful time of the year, so fun and festive seasonal flavors are out and about. I requested 2 of them and my consistent goto, Darkest Chocolate. 7 Layer It's a good ice cream, but it's saltier than what I was expecting. I know a few people who enjoy salted caramel, so this would definitely be their jam. Pistachio Macaron Fantastic nutty flavor. Would get this again. The bathrooms are clean and the seating is fairly stylish and abundant. Jeni's is a premium brand that delivers an enjoyable experience.

Yelp
Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream was a treat after a Cub's game on a warm afternoon. The line was long and out the door, but it moved pretty quickly. I love the unique flavors and options for a bowl or cone. I prefer my ice cream in a bowl almost always, but I still love having a piece of the cone to enjoy. I also appreciate the half scoops (which were good sized) so I could mix two flavors. I liked the dark chocolate with the brown butter almond flavor. I'll be back this summer to try more combos. Very clean, individual bathrooms here for customers to use. And the servers here are super sweet, too.

Yelp
I love Jenis! Such unique ice cream flavors and very smooth taste. Their vegan flavors all taste too much like coconut milk to me and the prices are a bit expensive but these are my only light complaints. The ice cream is wonderful and the aesthetic is cute. For a more economic option buy a pint of their ice cream and enjoy it later!
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
This is my second stop at a Jeni's and it's been consistently good. I like the unique flavors and there are decent serving size for the pricey scoops.

Yelp
Walking on way back to cousins house from The Sports Corner Bar and Grill my daughter wants ice cream so we stop at Jeni's. I ordered one scoop ice cream cone of lemon custard dairy free ice cream and it was very good. My daughter ordered brown butter almond ice cream. Very good. Wed come again. Thank you
google avatar

Ayad F.

Yelp
Great ice cream. Waffle cones available. Friendly service and generous with samples. Perfect for summer. Grab one and walk down the street.

Yelp
After my first cubs game, we passed Jeni's on the walk back to the car. It smells SO good walking in, you can tell they make the waffle cones fresh in store. It was well lit and very clean in the lobby. Staff were friendly and smiling and so kind! I had a scoop of bramble berry in a cone-bowl and it was so delicious. Jeni's ice cream is incredibly smooth and balanced in the sweetness. Picking a flavor was for sure the hardest part because they all sound delicious. My walk back to my car was ten-fold sweeter with my scoop and I can't wait to try a new flavor next time. Thank you for a great experience!
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Tge brambleberryice cream was the best out of all the ones i tried and Okg the waffle cones are so delicious
google avatar

Manisha P.

Yelp
This is my usual dessert spot if I'm craving for some good dessert! I just love their Texas sheet cake(dairy free) and the salted peanut butter(dairy). They have limited flavours as well !! The ambience is definitely welcoming! Highly recommend to check out this spot. They have couple of branches in Illinois.
google avatar

Yelp
I feel like such a fatty after getting a scoop from Jeni's. My recommendation for management is to offer a no sugar added, dairy-free, & low cal option.
google avatar

Garrett Y.

Yelp
What can I say? Jeni's the best. This location is located next to Wrigley Field and close to home. Best to get here by foot. Jeni's flavors are so unique and delectable! I always get the trio. I got two scoops of the goat cheese and cherries and a scoop of the chocolate blackout cake. Yum!!
google avatar

Brooke H.

Yelp
It lives up to the hype!! I've seen a Jeni's in dozens of big cities and the grocery stores now so I finally had to try. Dozens of flavors and a huge variety too. The mint was crisp and refreshing!! Definitely would return when I see a store again.
google avatar

Kaitlin C.

Yelp
Let's be real the waffle bowl option is genius. These things should be everywhere. Their waffle cones are on the caramely side of flavor which I personally really like. The inside was super cute. Staff was sweet and friendly. Ice cream was tasty and I really liked all of the fun flavor options. There is something for everyone. They had a few non dairy options.
google avatar

Justin R.

Yelp
Jeni's falls in line with Portland's staple ice cream shop, Salt & Straw, as what I'd call "designer novelty" ice cream. Their flavors are unique and tasty, though the kind you'd rather not gorge yourself on. You do not come for larger portion sizes, as that is not what you'll get. Overall, it's a fine little establishment that won't disappoint but personally doesn't reach the same heights as something like Salt & Straw.
google avatar

Elise A.

Yelp
I came here and got the double dough ice cream in a waffle cone and it was delicious! The service was super quick (as always) and the price was a bit expensive but definitely worth it ($9)!!
google avatar

Ploy N.

Yelp
Been to other Jeni's locations awhile back and I don't remember their portion being this small...Flavors were fine but portion and prices were rather disappointing. Guess I'll be sticking to the pints.
google avatar

Emma J.

Yelp
I live in Colorado and got a package of 5 Jeni's pints for my graduation earlier this year and they were some of the best ice creams I've ever had! I was visiting a friend in Chicago and we were checking out Wrigley field and came across this place and of course had to stop in (she's also a Jeni's fan). I got a scoop of coffee with cream and sugar and the salted peanut butter with chocolate flecks and my friend got 2 scoops of the high five candy bar. My combo paired perfectly and was so good. This is the ONLY peanut butter ice cream I actually enjoy. My friend also raved about the high five candy bar.
google avatar

Maria F.

Yelp
A visit to Jeni's always puts a smile on my face! They have such a wide variety of flavors! Some of my favorite flavors include: honey vanilla bean, cinnamon roll, and cream puff! I enjoy visiting the Wrigleyville location on Clark because I can order my ice cream and find a spot on Gallagher Place to sit and enjoy the fresh air and sounds of the Wrigleyville neighborhood.

Gregory M.

Yelp
I'm still trying to decide how I feel about the ice cream. Their flavors are very creative and the texture of the ice cream is seriously on point. It's great. That being said, their ice cream is significantly less sweet than typical ice creams. Part of me feels healthier and really happy to have a slightly less guilty treat. And, I might actually prefer this lesser sweet desert than my normal indulgences. That being said, I'm still feeling ever so slightly less satiated because of the slightly, almost savory experience. I'd definitely understand a 5 star rating. But also, I'm just a little unsure of how I feel. Haha. I'll definitely go back. If I could make one recommendation.... The salty caramel is mixed, not a swirled caramel in vanilla. I prefer the swirled in, like Salt & Straw does. But that's just me.
google avatar

Gabe L.

Yelp
Cookies and cream (3*): more chocolate shavings than cookies, not really my speed Sugar plum (4*): I liked the flavor of the plum wine, but it got too sweet after a while and some of the plum patches were icy Gooey butter cake (3.5*): a bit too sweet Overall this caters to more sweet loving ice cream people, the flavors were a bit of a miss for me and I got tired of how sweet it was even though we shared the triple flight. But the waffle cone was super buttery and delicious!
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
JENI'S! Some of the tastiest, most unique ice cream flavors in the city. This location in particular is great because there typically isn't a line (score!) and if there is, the employees are super quick and accommodating. My go-tos are the brambleberry crisp and brown butter almond brittle (say those three times fast). The flavors compliment each other perfectly, and neither one is overly sweet. Another huge win for Jeni's is the selection of dairy free flavors. Texas sheet cake and caramel pecan sticky buns happen to be two of my favorites as well and both are dairy free! All this aside, what REALLY sets Jeni's apart is the waffle cones. Oh my lord this cones are sent from above. If you have the strength to walk past Jeni's without being lured in by the sweet smell of homemade waffle cones, kudos to you. My personal fav is the waffle bowl! If you haven't tried Jeni's yet, what are you waiting for!?
google avatar

Nisha C.

Yelp
If you haven't been to Jeni's, you are missing out! This is one of my favorite ice cream spots in Chicago and I will have it any time of year but it's always the sweetest especially in this location on a hot summers day after a Cubs game :) I love that they experiment with new flavors and that you can buy your favorites by the pint. My go to flavors are the Gooey Butter Cake and Brambleberry Crisp. For the Gooey Butter Cake the "gooey" sauce balances well with the pieces of cake that are buttery and perfect. The Brambleberry Crisp is sweet and pairs well with the tart-sweet flavor of the bramble berries and texture contrast of the toasted oat strudel. I also enjoy the Brown Butter Almond Brittle and Salty Caramel. The Sweet Cream Biscuits and Peach Jam has a very fresh peach flavor that is balanced nicely with the biscuits. I have also tried The Darkest Chocolate and it was a little too dark for my taste. If you are a diehard dark chocolate fan you just may love it. There are many locations throughout the city and if you are ever in Wrigleyville or come across a Jeni's and are in need of something sweet this is the perfect place.
google avatar

Daniel A.

Yelp
Yum, my favorite expensive ice cream to indulge in. This store is right across from Wriggly Field and makes for a convenient stop. The Brambleberry crisp is always my top choice. Splotches of jam mixed in with the creamiest vanilla base. The pumpkin Roll was a bit underwhelming after trying it for the first time. The spice mix was incredible and the pumpkin didn't overwhelm the ice cream; however the crust mixed in was a bit waxy and I found myself avoiding it. Wouldn't pay the high price for a pint of this once again. But find the flavors you like and stick to them!

kevin k.

Yelp
Jeni has some of the best ice cream, if you're able to stop at a location it's a must try.
google avatar

Raquel R.

Yelp
It was nice to order some ice cream after a long hot day at the ballpark! There was a long line, but it went by quickly! The service is great and really enjoyed the ice cream!
google avatar

Katherine R.

Yelp
This is the best ice cream! Highly recommend stopping in and trying any of their flavors. I tried the salted peanut butter with chocolate flakes and the gooey butter cake. Both were so good! Super creamy and creative. I'm in love!
google avatar

Carly S.

Yelp
Jeni's is the best!! I am a frequent visitor to this location, and it never disappoints. It is never too busy, but even if there is a line, they move super quickly and have plenty of staff on hand. Everyone is super friendly working there as well. Tonight I branched out from my usual Brambleberry Crisp/Gooey Butter Cake combo and got the Strawberry Buttermilk and dairy-free Lemon Bar in a waffle cone. They were both delicious!!! The Strawberry Buttermilk was creamy and fresh, and you could hardly even tell the Lemon Bar was dairy-free. Can't wait to keep coming back all summer (and winter!) long!
google avatar

Priyanka R.

Yelp
Artisan ice cream at its best! I have loved all the flavors I have tried at Jeni's - and with the expansion of their stores all over Chicago, you can never be too far from a Jeni's! It is especially perfect on a hot summer day or on an evening stroll if you find yourself in Wrigleyville. My favorite flavors for vanilla lovers (aka me): - Gooey Butter Cake (very sweet, my personal fave) - Brambleberry Crisp (more balanced, less sweet, my husband's fave) - Salty Caramel (strong on the salt and caramel, very rich) - Cookies in Cream (flavors are on point, can be heavy on the cookies) - Honey Vanilla Bean (good 'ole vanilla, with a small twist, for those who like the predictable) Drawbacks, sometimes the lines can be long if you go at peak hours, and it is a pretty penny (aka expensive). Some of the less exciting flavors can not taste as fresh and might be sitting there a day or two, but overall, my favorite chain ice cream, and worth a visit. Don't forget to get your scoops on one of their freshly made waffle cone/cups!
google avatar

Carol A.

Yelp
I came here looking for a quick ice cream before the city championship at Wrigley. I got the Rainbow BFY and the Sunshine. Both were AMAZING. I was really looking for something light and this combo was perfect and refreshing! The Rainbow BFY reminded me of the sherbet I ate growing up. The store itself was very clean and bright! The person working the ice cream counter was very helpful, patient and friendly. I love Jeni's!
google avatar

Shay R.

Yelp
I don't know what you say, if you haven't visited a Jeni's location what are you even doing with your time. I have been to three different Jeni's location and the one thing that is consistent is the staff is always friendly. Even during the pandemic when you can't really sample the different flavors and chat up the person they are still very friendly and give suggestions on flavors if you cannot decide. I am a creature of habit so I always get two different flavors because I cannot pass up the Brown Butter Almond Brittle flavor and whichever chocolate flavor they offer at the time. Hands down, have to get the Brown Butter Almond Brittle flavor. It is a favorite in the shop and pairs well with most of the other flavors. Jeni's makes their own cones so the shop always smells so delicious. I love that they offer a small sample of the waffle cone when you get the bowl so you get to enjoy the waffle cone without dealing with the dripping down your hands as the ice cream melts. I won't lie, the ice cream is kind of pricey but the prices align with the neighborhoods that I have visited their locations i.e. Lakeview, Wrigleyville, Wicker Park. Due to COVID and the cooler weather I have opted for the ice cream pints. The shop is adhering to the pandemic mandates. They require employees and customers to wear face masks as well as limited shop capacity and enforce social distancing. You can also order ahead of time to have a smooth pickup or get it delivered. I have not gotten delivery just yet so I can't speak to that experience but they guarantee a frozen delivery.
google avatar

Jenny B.

Yelp
Best ice cream. Period. Hard to find a flavor that isn't good. Seasonal items are some of the best.

Sergio D.

Yelp
Noticed something this past week... The scoops have gotten smaller and the price is up... What is wrong here? The icecream is very yummy, but you are killing our pockets. No more Jeni for me... :(
google avatar

Arthur B.

Yelp
A nice ice cream shop with flavors that are sort out of the ordinary. I went a little after the ball game so it wasn't mobbed, but I bet it usually is due to location. I had lavender flavored ice cream which tasted pretty good, but then again, I've never had bad ice cream. Service was good and then give out free samples if you ask!
google avatar

Garrett M.

Yelp
Great selection of very unique and tasty ice creams. Can also snag pints to-go. A good dessert option for after a night out in Wrigley.
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
Jeni's always hits the spot on a summer day! Consistently delicious with fun flavors. This time, I got the Brown Butter Almond Brittle (my favorite) and paired it with the fruity wildberry lavender (fruity but paired surpisingly well). It is admittedly a lil expensive (over $6) for two half-scoops.... but there's nothing quite like it :)
google avatar

Trisha A.

Yelp
Stopped by tonight with my friends. We didn't know takeout meant ordering local delivery online and then them having it ready in the store by pint. It was fast and efficient though, so can't complain about that! We ordered the Brambleberry Crisp. I know it's one of their popular flavors. I liked it and it was sweet, but a different kind of sweet than I usually like. So it didn't really hit my sweet tooth craving. I do love how it's close to me and I'll probably be back to try more flavors!

John A.

Yelp
The ice cream was plenty of variety, service was fast and friendly. The place was cozy and enjoyed hanging out enjoy our ice cream.
google avatar

Monica D.

Yelp
~Monica's T.A.S.T.E. Test~ Taste: I tried 5 different unique flavors (think goat cheese and red cherry) before settling for the classic mint chocolate chip. This ice cream is all time great. It is smooth, creamy, and has depth in flavor without nodding too much in either the mint or chocolate direction. Atmosphere: The store has a lot of seating and is very clean. The trial spoons are metal which is a nice touch as most stores use wood spoons. Service: The counter servers were fast and informative in explaining the ingredients and being sensitive to our groups allergies. They were a huge help, thanks ladies! Tab: The prices were steep for ice cream but common for the area as you are right next to Wrigley Field. So not too crazy for what to expect. Extra wow factor: They have so many unique flavors it is hard to settle for just one. Does it pass the T.A.S.T.E test? Yes, loved it. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
So yummy. I wish we had a Jeni's here. So delicious and creamy. I highly recommend! Tons of flavors to choose from.
google avatar

Danielle S.

Yelp
What a great ice cream shop! I wish they had locations in New York. I stopped in during 10 degree weather in January because nothing will deter me from getting my ice cream fix. The interior is bright and trendy. I was immediately greeted and asked if I wanted to sample any flavors, so I tried one (Butter Cake something). It was delicious so I got a scoop of that and Salty Caramel in a dish. It also came with a piece of waffle cone crisp. The ice cream was so smooth and full of flavor. I loved both flavors and would love to go back and try many more the next time I'm in Chicago!
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
Love Jeni's Ice Cream! This one is conveniently located within walking distance from Wrigley. It's nice and bright, with a handful of tables some stadium type seating, and a few counter seats. The ice cream for sure is unique, creamy, and very flavorful. The staff is extremely helpful and will make suggestions if you ask! I'm a sucker for lavender+fruit flavored things, and so I had to try the Wildberry Lavender, and finished off my flight of 3 flavors with Brambleberry Crisp, and Sweet Corn & Blackberries. For those that are indecisive or just love ice cream, I definitely recommend the flight. Personally I think it's the best deal there. Flavors were perfectly balance, and it really is the perfect treat for a warm day. This is not your average ice cream shop with not your average flavors, try them all!
google avatar

Yelp
We came here yesterday after the Cubs game. I've been craving Jeni's for awhile, and this location satisfied my cravings. Jeni's is one of the many things I miss about not living in the city anymore. I love how they make the waffle cones fresh in house, and you can see the staff making it in front of you. We both did a waffle bowl with 2 flavors each. My partner got a waffle bowl with bramble berry crisp and frosé. I did the waffle bowl with darkest chocolate and Texas sheet cake. The staff was so sweet and offered to sample us, but we've been to a Jeni's and had Jeni's a handful of times so we knew what we wanted this time -- thankfully. I'm usually indecisive and curious about the new flavors, but I didn't see anything that caught my eye. It was a beautiful day out in Chicago for the first time in awhile, and there was a long line but it moved pretty quickly. I'd recommend this location to anyone in the area looking for a sweet treat.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
There is no doubt Jeni's flavors are a grand slam! Unique, rare, and delicious. But $4 for a half, HALF scoop of ice cream?! Yo, you gotta be kidding me. I understand this is prime real estate and it took the Cubs a legit century to get the funds to finally rebuild their Wrigley empire by wining the World Series & integrate Jeni's into their urban planning but, the price of that little behbeh scoop of Gooey Butter Cake ice cream just didn't sit right with me. Go for the unique flavor profiles, to indulge, but most importantly for that sugar high needed to cheer on the Cubbies!

Anita K.

Yelp
Went here this summer and the ice cream and waffle cone is so delicious! There were too many yummy flavors - my favorites are salted peanut butter with chocolate flecks, brown butter almond brittle, and high five candy bar.
google avatar

Alexandra H.

Yelp
Tonight is the grand opening of Jeni's ice cream in Wrigleyville. A few weeks ago I tried the location in Old Town, I thought it would be awesome to try their new location. After waiting about 50 minutes in line and in the cold, I was greeted by the sweet smell of homemade waffle cones. I can honestly say that the wait was worth it! You could try any flavor you wanted and the staff was so nice/excited to be here tonight. Wow! The ice cream is so good and there were so many flavors to choose from. Plus everything was free tonight! I had the trio cup that held: Butter Cake, popcorn with peanuts, and salted peanut with chocolate ice cream. I'll definitely be back here, especially since it's so close to my place.
google avatar

Lily A.

Yelp
Ate my ice cream too quick to even get a picture because it was so good!! Got the mint chocolate chip and darkest chocolate. Highly recommend both! And smells delicious too!!
google avatar

Christopher F.

Yelp
The ice cream is amazing. The prices are insane. The manager in charge is just a little on edge. It was like half mother half babysitter, "don't touch that, don't stand there, get your stuff and get out," type of feel. I'm sure it's because of the onslaught of stupid that enters on a daily if not hourly basis. Just be cordial and not quite so short in your delivery. We were happy to follow the rules. She was so intent on getting us out she forgot some of our order. Ice cream is good just bring your platinum card. I'll come back when we aren't in Covid lockdown mode.
google avatar

Carly M.

Yelp
This place is poppin in the summer! The location is primo and that's why it's also pricy! The interior is clean and open. Lots of seating and the design is milk factory chic. I really liked that you can try many samples and they use metal spoons! No trash waste. The flavors are unique and it's all creamy and smooth. Get the waffle cone, it's buttery and delicious. My only issue was that I didn't feel it was a good value. Acceptable for a special treat, but one scoop milking past $5, ouchie.

Yelp
Goat cheese and cherry is my absolute favorite. Employees are always very knowledgeable. This location also runs local deals/specials which is awesome.
