They lady at the window was already a first red flag I still order and the food was just like the Customer service they need to really do better the Potato salad good it just run you to the toilet my fries had a fired corn inside and my ribs 3/10

I’m sorry I’m not here to hurt small business but I wasted $30 and I didn’t get to eat lunch. The ribs are drenched in sauce because they are dry as jerky and not seasoned. You don’t even see the pink ring of smoke . The sides were really gross and fries cold. I recommend at least just buying all Sam’s club sides. I was hopeful due to the smoke coming out of the chimney. I would be embarrassed to serve what I threw away. Honest review.

This is the second time on a month I’ve visited this location customer service is horrible and I could not even chew up the ribs they were so hard and I mentioned it to management my last experience I even asked if they could just chopped them of without ordering thin end as I normally do hey said no don’t know what you talking about so I said fine as pond as their not hard and I can chew it up and this is what I got meat tough and hard as hell I don’t mind spending any amount on my food but this was very very disappointing

WOW!! Im not sure what I just paid for i guess they just used liquid smoke to smell up the corner air. The order of fries was drowned, submerged,suffocated in what they call mild sauce more like mustard and sweet baby rays mixture.Fries were un eatable.I ordered middle ribs thin cut thick cut... I don't know!! The ribs were burnt,dry,no meat on them and the three pieces of bread they gave me were stuck to the paper and together, because of the half of gallon of sweet barbecue sauce they poured on top of them.This place can't be for real.🤢🤮🤢!! Save the response owner! Reading the reviews, something I should have done before coming.You guys have given up and don't care. #Dontdoit

The food was excellent, but the lobby was closed. I'm not sure why. The young lady at the drive-thru window was not friendly at all. Her customer service skills are a zero. I came to this establishment because I am from out of town and it was highly recommended. However, another young lady came to the window, and she was a breath of fresh air, very happy, friendly, and enjoyed talking to her customers. I told her I loved her spirit. Anyone with a rude attitude should not work at an establishment that requires customer service.

I was hopeful about this place I heard good things about it.. but honestly wasn't great. Instead of apologizing they need to just do better! Improve the quality an hire a friendly staff

Went to Jenkins and recieved 2 sides however I don’t eat baked beans nor potatoe salad but I just told them to give me the potatoe salad because I thought the bean juice would touch my chicken. I left checking my food and a bug was sitting on top of my potatoe salad. This was their kings rd location. All of those employees need to take some kind of classes or have a meeting about handling their food properly. How could yall not see this bug on this food.

The food quality tough ribs sauce watered down and the customer service is terrible. You guys being in business for years as should know better about customer service and food quality. You always say your going to do better but no change. Stand on business and change the narrative.

All I can say is Jenkins need to open a store in Dallas Texas. You belong next to the greats! Now, trust me, there is no beef or bbq like Big TEXAS ! Our food is top tier , not just BBQ either. But I have to say we would love to have a Jenkins . Texas will offer you a better quality meat. The sauce is very good. I think it's hard to find good meat in Florida but Texas ..... with your sauce and our meat . Boom!

There is better food around. Not the best bar b q in town. Go to St Augustine to Briskies, so much better.

The thin end rib sandwich and the chicken sandwich was dried out and hard to chew. The quality of the barbecue has drastically declined over the years and the only reason 1 star is given is for the sweet tea and the bottle of sauce that was bought separate. The service was not pleasant, attitude upon arriving from the server. The ambience is fast food service.

jenkins quality barbecue?? more like jerkings nonquality raw food! my barbecue was raw ash and they didnt refund me!!11! i got food poisining (9+ hrs on the toilet with very runny shit.) and nut was on my meal. do not reccomend.

Get the rib sandwich but do not expect to bite through a McRib lol it's just an excuse to enjoy some real barbecue ribs with a side of bread sopped in the barbecue sauce and it's an amazing life hack to call this a sandwich and not feel like a complete glutton. Delicious !

I see in almost all the reviews that if something isn't right with the order you make them return it. I get that for dine in. You take it back and replace it. But for people in the drive through especially when you live on the other side of town, shouldn't have to drive all the way back and return the food. Maybe take a video/photo when opening the container or something but I seen people saying they drove from Orange park. You want them to drive all the way back?! Refund the money! It's not that serious, you can't take the food back anyways.

Best bbq chicken you will ever eat! I'm not usually a fan of bbq but I love this place the sauce is delicious and the chicken is so yummy a must try for sure and the cashier was great friendly and the service was quick enough for me to make it back to the office and eat before my break was over

The meat is always good and fresh off the grill and I always buy mild and spicy sauce along with my order good deal for the cost of the sauce and the size a can't miss

This place has the best mustard-based barbecue sauce I have ever tasted. It might even be my favorite barbecue sauce. I don't know what else is in it but mm mmm mmmm, it's sooo good!! It's been smothered on everything I have ordered from here. Ribs, chicken - thighs, wings, drumstick, breast -, beef bun and the pork bun. Mild, Hot, Sweet - all excellent, though I pick Hot most often now. I like it when the heat lingers a little :) The smoked meats are good to very good. Some days are better than others but I have never had a bad experience or order here. The staff is always friendly, quiet but not the uncomfortable kind. Someone wrote - "It was a little hot inside, and could have been a tad cleaner, but when you are experiencing historically good food that really does not matter." - I totally agree and I will continue to come here :)

Jenkin's have become a hit and miss place to order from. I guess the new generation don't have what the old generation had and they don't care. They don't understand that their customers is what keep them in business.

Well of course we took out our food. We shared tasty ribs, a brisket sandwich and a pork sandwich. Sides included tasty cole slaw, potato salad and beans. Tasty tasty tasty check them out.

Heard great things about Jenkins so I went to try them out. Unprofessional customer service , meat not very tender. About 2 months later, went to a different location hoping for different experience. No better of an experience and meat just warm. Not sure what's going on here, but the name they have is not speaking for itself. Also, the lines move to slow. Hoping that they will get on track.

I grew up, eating Jenkins barbecue, especially my grandparents are ordered a sauce for barbecues, but in modern times they just know I have shown that they grown to become a iconic barbecue joint in around the city service is very slow not a friendly atmosphere for me

I just came from this Jenkins BBQ store. Walked in there and they didn't have the beef or the pork ready. So the only choice I had was half a chicken and some fries. After I paid for my order, it dawned on me that I forgot to order something to drink so I asked him if I could order something to drink and he said that they couldn't do the debit card that I had to be $5 or more. They couldn't Make that one exception after I just got through spending money with them?!! In the meantime I'll watch several cars go to the drive-thru and get their food Lincoln explain where I'm sitting there waiting for 15 to 20 minutes for my food. Horrible customer service. I was so upset that I didn't have anything to wash my damn food down with, I (emotionally) through my food on the ground stomped it and threw it away. I hope the camera saw it. I should have spat on it just for symbolic purposes. I will never ever patronize another Jenkins BBQ

We order a slab of ribs & a hole chicken, with too large side. I never seen this before, four small containers to make a large, is business that bad or customer prefer, to have small portions. We also purchase four additional sizes, so we would, have enough to feed six peoples. I haven't been to Jenkins in many years and this one of the reason I don't go and I grow up, eating their BBQ and Mr. Jenkins & my grandfather was the best of friends, from theirs day, on State & Board St. Now this has change everything, so I don't think, I'll be back again.

12:50 am, 40+ minute wait and counting! Absolutely ridiculous! There were about 5-6 cars ahead of me in the drive thru. The lobby is closed so there is no excuse for the extended wait. My order has been placed and paid yet I was asked to pull ahead. I have had enough time to lookup this establishment and write this review. ‍ Of course nothing was offered or given for this unconscionable wait; not even an apology. Time is my most precious commodity and high quality customer service is paramount..... but alas time is waisted here and customer service is severely lacking. My request for center cut ribs wasn't even granted. Their food quality has been good in my past experience but it's not worth such a wait. I would give them another half star if it was available.... something Yelp should consider modifying. Update: 2 stars is correct as the food quality wasn't up to par. Receiving charred/overcooked ribs especially after a 40+ minute wait is an epic fail!

As a family, one of our favs is great bbq with the fixins'. We decided to check it out and as nice as the staff was, the experience wasn't worth repeating. There were 6 of us so we tried various combinations. The consensus was everything was average at best. The food came out colder than we expected and while my plate of pulled pork was tender & tasty, my son in law ended up with an extremely fatty portion which he couldn't eat. We just weren't impressed, actually pretty disappointed.

I'm going to go on record as saying if you have never had Jenkins BBQ sauce before you are missing out. It is a tangy southern style (mustard based) sauce that is second to none. I got their rib "snack pack" for a light lunch and the ribs were extremely large and perfectly cooked. The employees were all friendly and helpful. If you in the area and look by for some good BBQ you owe it to yourself to stop by.

My experience was Very disappointing. I've heard good things about Jenkins BBQ and while on my lunch break I decided to stop by and pick up some Chicken and Ribs. Once I brought it back to work I bit into the ribs that were hot to the touch and what do I get? Ice cold meat on the inside. Same thing with the chicken. They gave me some left over food that they threw in a microwave. On top of that the taste of the ribs and chicken left a lot to be desired. I feel like Treemendous BBQ, Gators BBQ and even Bono's was way better. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Looking forward to some ribs.. this was a horrible experience.. I know it was close to closing but if you didn't have what I was asking for just say that instead I spent $30 on 2 rib packs that were over cooked and dried out and just all the bbq poured on it. Tried to call but sure they are closing up!l this is ridiculous to spend this amount of money on something u can't even eat because it's so hard!!! Will try to call again Tom!!!

Ok.. I've seen this place on the corner and never thought about stopping until now . Now I'm biased when It comes to ribs because my family own a bbq restaurant on the east coast .. so I know what they should and should not taste like... so here is my honest review I went through the drive through and ordered the rib snack pack with fries and potato salad. I'm new to the mustard bbq sauce but it's growing on me . It's not bitter , no after taste .. it's pretty good actually . Lol The ribs ... veryyyyy meaty and tender! I opted for the mild sauce and it's pretty good . 2 ribs sandwiches between two slices of white bread with a nice portion of sauce . I like to flip my ribs over to get to the side without sauce ( you can taste the meat better without sauce and great ribs do not need much sauce ). I was pleasantly surprised because I can taste the smoke in these ribs and whoever is their grill master knows how to get some good grill marks . Back to great rib require little sauce , the sauce in this case, ENHANCED the flavor! These are pretty good. Sides : fries and potato salad . crinkle cut fries , they are good , I really came for the ribs but hey! The potato salad is a mustard base and it's spot on . Sweet and with a kick of mustard . You will not be disappointed . Give this place a try ...seriously .... easy menu , big smiles at the drive thru... can't wait to see how their chicken is :) skip Bonos.. trust me .. go here Arrived at 6pm food was really fresh

One of the best in town! It's locally owned and tasty. You may have a long wait, due to popularity obviously but it is worth it! The rib sandwich makes me come back every time

I use to live in Jacksonville 15 years ago. I ate lunch at Jenkins at least once a week. They have the best ribs in the South. I've had dreams about the mustard based BBQ all this time. I just found out that the bbq sauce can be ordered online. I ordered 3 bottles last night and another 3 more tonight. It's like Christmas all over again. Can't wait for the sauce to arrive so I can smoke some ribs. Finding & Ordering the bbq sauce has made a great start to 2023. Best wishes Jenkins team. You're the best. Scott, Dallas Tx

I ordered a slab of ribs un cut but was told they had to cut the ribs up.why is that? Are you all putting pieces together to make a slab? I wanted to take that to a family who was experiencing the loss of a love one. I had prepared some other food to go with the slab of ribs.

My pulled pork sandwich was microwaved and that made the bread chewy like rubber. The fries and BBQ sauce was good.

This restaurant is is filthy and disgusting! They NEVER have any RIBS ! Every time I come here it's always a disappointment;never fulfilling. I try to give them a chance every time but when I get there I always wait an hour or two, they always have the "we still cooking" or "we out of ribs" like come on! And when I get the ribs it's always cut short or always dry that's drenched in horrid sauce. Just do me a favor and close down please.

I was born in Jax two years before Jenkins BBQ opened their doors and have patronized them most of my adult life. Occasionally getting meat that is dry is pretty much a norm. Stopped by today to be served a whole chicken meal with fries and a tea. The sauce, fries and tea were good. My whole chicken was old, dry and tough as jerky. I was one of the first lunch customers for lunch and tradition in the BBQ industry should have been a warning. They serve the carry over meat from prior days business to first customers of the next day. I know BBQ and this time Jenkins let it be obvious that quality of menu has become a one star priority. I gave two stars as fries and tea were par. I will not make this mistake again. They know better.

While the mustard based bbq sauce is delicious the quality is not great. Ordered the chicken bbq for a friend to try and it was extremely tough and inedible. Like jerky. Waste of money especially now. Not going back. 2 stars for the bbq sauce. Seems like many get the ribs too but if that's the standard with all the local bbq places I'll pass. Next.

Jenkins Quality Barbecue is absolutely excellent. Jenkins Barbecue reminds me of the barbecue ribs my dad would get us when we lived in South Chicago. The Jenkins Quality Barbecue sauce is perfect, ribs cooked just right. My recommendation; 100% Jenkins Quality Barbecue all day long, I'm down.

Got the rib sandwich with the hot & sweet sauce. DELICIOUS! Ribs were tender and moist. Whoever had bad experiences, I would suggest trying again. I will post pics of this deliciousness.

Some of the most legitimate, seriously good BBQ in Jacksonville as far as I'm concerned. It's been a couple of years since I've had it. Last time was downtown for take out. We were on the far Northside for a baseball tournament and decided to dine in today. Great food and even better service. I had the rib sandwich with fries, large sweet tea, and chose the original sauce. Sauces are all mustard based and wonderful. I got 4 huge, meaty ribs, smothered in sauce, between two pieces of white bread. Really great food. My daughter had the same. We could not finish our food. My wife had the snack size ribs and son had the pork bun. We all had a great time. It was a little hot inside, and could have been a tad cleaner, but when you are experiencing historically good food that really does not matter. Can't wait to be in a position to enjoy Jenkins again.

I found out about Jenkins when I was a kid my sisters, friends and I used to walk to Jenkins and at that time they sold 1 Rib and Curly fries for $1.25 that was in the 60's and I still go there for the wings and curly fries with Mild Sauce everything is delicious you will not be disappointed if you have never been to Jenkins once you try them you'll go back again and again YUM.

Best BBQ in town. However I'm not eating anywhere that not serious about Covid protocol. I had to leave the restaurant after debating the cashier and the manager about mask all the employees wearing mask.

We went here for lunch on a rainy Wed. about 130pm. It fits my BBQ minimum requirements. Smoke coming out of the chimney and cars in the parking lot around lunch time. We've eaten Jenkins BBQ since the 1980's at all of their locations. We like their simple no frills BBQ. It's 2 pieces of white bread placed on butcher paper, add ribs or chicken , kill it with mild sauce then 2 more pieces of white bread and wrap it up in the butcher paper. That's their rib or chicken sandwich. This time I decided to have "Beef on a bun" sandwich with fries (kill them both with mild sauce). It hit the spot. Nothing fancy but I love their mild & hot sauce. I bought a bottle of each to take home.

Hot mustard is really hard to find I'm starting to realize and they really do have the best. The staff is always nice and courteous when I come in.

We went there yesterday and they did not have beef sandwich so we got the pork sandwich 3 of us all of us are sick today the pork was bad This place needs to close very poorly run The down town one is great We will never go back to the kinks road one

First of all to start I was upset! I purchased the snack pack and after a 6min wait I was informed they're ou not the containers for the snack pack. So I asked wel a Mr you just make it w/o (it's the same size side orders) and they said no b/x they can't 'measure it out '. Ok whatever! So I order two sandwiches asking for thin ends and one with sweet sauce. After another wait they come back and say they're out of sweet sauce , now I'm bothered so I say don't you sell the bottle! I'll buy a bottle Just for you to add sauce. He leaves & comes back and says oh we have enough for the one. Well I get home to 2 sandwiches that aren't thin ends and no sweet sauce on the other. On top of that the meat tasted old & was definitely COLD! This location will not be getting anymore of money!

Food was ok, I ordered a grande chicken sandwich and it wasn't big at all and fries were cold. But the real reason was the waitress who was rude to us, at first we had a nice waitress and then a different lady came and started serving food to us like we speak Spanish, having a attitude with us when we don't understand and when we finished she even told us to tip her generously.

Visiting from Memphis for work assignment. Saw the place had been around for a while and figured it was a community staple so I tried it out. Sauce was the best part of the meal. Ribs were tough and chicken over priced.

Worst ribs I have ever eaten in my life! They were very dried out, more like pork jerky! Wonder bread, really!!! Bench seats at tables were cracked badly, kind of disgusting looking inside. I chose to sit outside with all the street bums walking by, more scenic. This was at the location in downtown Jacksonville.

I've been to all three locations depending on where I was located as will say that the ribs are consistent throughout! I order the same thing: Rib Sandwich Center Cut with sauce on the side! I highly recommend going by especially if you see the smoke stack going, that means the ribs are RIGHT off the grill and extra moist.

We went after game Sunday starving ate there my whole life never no problems but we get home past orange park and go to open it .. Omg there was nothing there no meat hardly on the smallest bones looked burnt up. So hungry and disappointed. And we waited 20 mins no one in the drive thru and one person inside. Once we got it I handed to my husband and he said this is so light I should have checked it then. I even had to go back out to get something else. So disappointed and was so mad. I finally gave them a call was told to bring them back yeah right I live past orange park and she said to bring back tomorrow wouldn't even let me talk. So my point is if you go to the one on pearl check your order. Mine was terrible. And why would you even serve what I was served when it should have been thrown away. There wasn't enough meat on the bones for my dog. Just so disappointed.

I remember my dad getting ribs from this place when I was a kid.The best I ever ate. That was the old days. Still good but not the same. And the sauce is not mustard based; it is mustard. it was the worst part of the meal. it's worth it to get the ribs to go without the sauce, or at least get it on the side, not on your ribs.
