The Best Caribbean Food In Brooklyn’s Little Caribbean, Part 2 - New York - The Infatuation

"You can never go wrong in Little Caribbean with roti, and you’re in good hands at the second location of Jen’s Roti Shop on Church Ave. Roti is one of my favorite foods, and my preference is always goat buss up shut, a.k.a. paratha with pumpkin and potatoes, but I’d also recommend Jen’s tasty aloo pies. By now you might be noticing a trend here, so let’s not forget the sauces like tamarind, cucumber chutney, and pepper. On one of our recent tours of Little Caribbean with Ladies who Meat, a favorite was stewed chicken feet and my fitness trainer, Marlon Jude, raves about their pelau, a one pot dish with rice, pigeon peas, and chicken or beef." - Shelley Worrell 31

This is a hidden gem. The food here is awesome! The prices are amazing in this economy and they pack your plate. I come here often and there’s always a line of happy faces inside waiting for their turn to order. The staff is very friendly and accommodating! It’s always a pleasurable experience. Stop in a grab some food. This place is worth a drive! Food: 5 | Service: 4 | Atmosphere: 3 Seating type: there is a seating area here Vegetarian options:they have a good selection of vegetarian (ital) food Dietary restrictions: the staff is very accommodating Parking space: there is no dedicated parking here Parking options:street parking Wheelchair accessibility: this establishments is wheelchair accessible

It's a nice size space and has some seats to sit and eat. The service is good just be patient and understand that they are there to help you and make sure you get your food correctly. The ladies are friendly I tried the doubles and I was not disappointed it was flavorful and tasted fresh the sauces were good. I will try other items next time I go back A+

I want to start by saying I’ve been eating from this restaurant for a while, and left a five star review some years ago, which I sadly had to delete after ordering last night. I ordered two doubles, a potato roti and a potato & channa roti. The doubles were fine, but the potato & channa had very weird taste to it, as if the ingredients were old. The potato roti tastes fine at first, but after the first few bites it has that old taste, and there is channa in it. No potato roti was provided. Of course uber eats says my order “doesn’t qualify for a refund.” Needless to say I not be wasting my money eating here again.

I stopped by for the first time (FINALLY) today (Sunday, Father’s Day) at 3:45pm… and they were closed. I spotted a worker inside and he gave the “not open” gesture. What a waste of time/commuting all the way from New Jersey just for it to be closed without ANY notice on their Google storefront/UberEats — SOMETHING to let us know that they would either close early or not be open at all. So freaking frustrating. UGH.

I walked into the shop randomly. We've just got in from a 3 hour drive. The place was empty. 2 women were behind the counter. One cleaning with a dingy rag over the food. My daughter and I waited 15 minutes while these ladies never acknowledged us to take an order. Then the other lady started cleaning as well. Meanwhile we are still waiting. The food looked good but the service and energy is pure poop. After 2 more minutes we left without a word. I will be sure to share my review on ALL MY PLATFORMS. Very disappointing 😞

We went to this place because we love our home food, we ordered chicken roti....it came with huge slices of potatoes, the meat was most interesting.....we were served chicken backs! That's right "chicken backs" I've never went to an eatery and been so dissatisfied before. The food was not good, the roti was dry and hard. The woman who served us has a nasty attitude ....we asked for a bathroom 🚻 was told "we don't need to have one unless we had 10 customers or more. The food is over priced and not very tasty. We asked for paper plates, was told we didn't have any....how do you run a restaurant and do not have utensils or plates 🤔. Will never go back there or recommend this place......if you want good trinidad food, go to singhs or trincity in queens, they have very good food, cheaper prices and better etiquette in servicing their customers.....

Ordered on Uber eats and although the food is delicious the portions are terrible. How do you charge $12 for these meagre portions? So much potatoes and gravy and these small pieces of chicken back, and it's not the first time.

Ok here is the breakdown: Pros: tasty roti ($10.00 Feb 2023 price). Cons: Rude & unfriendly arrogant staff. They were all out of potatoes for roti and suggested to fill it with chicken and sauce. Refused to give more than 2 tiny thin napkins. No restroom for customers. No ordering for pickup. No ordering in advance. Staff loudly arguing between themselves around customers. Customers cut in front of me in line. Would I suggest this place? I don’t think so. Not unless the owner trains the staff in good customer service.
