How a Retired Korean Filmmaker Opened K-Town’s Quirkiest Fried Chicken Spot - Eater LA

"This unwavering meticulousness is why Jeong continues to operate alone, seven days a week. “I just can’t bear to think about turning people away,” he explains. His work is indeed paying off. Last year, the restaurant expanded, moving from a nondescript basement to a more polished strip mall location. Like the film career he built years ago, Jeong wants to embody self-reliance in this chicken restaurant, even in his personal life. Despite growing business, Jeong claims to sleep in his car for only two or three hours a night. It’s not so much that he can’t afford a permanent residence, but more about the lifestyle he wants to live. He admits, “My kids keep telling me to get an apartment, but I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, and I can’t imagine doing life any differently.” Although they may not agree with his minimalist lifestyle, Jeong’s family is incredibly proud of what he has built. “I see Director Gol Tong as the epitome of the first-generation Korean immigrant,” says Steve Byun, Jeong’s son-in-law. “His perseverance has helped him chase his dreams. I mean, how many chicken joints do you know that are run solely by a film director?” Reconciling Jeong’s past life with his present one, it’s hard not to wonder: What in the world do directing films and frying chicken have in common? On the surface, nothing. But both are skills he picked up on a whim. Both illustrate his fearlessness in taking on unfamiliar ventures and his desire to move people through his creations, Although more than half of his current business consists of repeat customers, Jeong has retained his resilient spirit through challenges of the pandemic and remains steadfast in his operations as a one-man show. Byun says that’s what the community loves most about him." - Cathy Park

Went on a Saturday afternoon for late lunch around 3pm with a party of 5 plus one infant. We had a reservation, but didn't need to wait since the lunch rush had passed and the dinner rush hadn't started yet. We ordered 2 combos, one all beef, the other mixed beef and pork. The combos came with soup, steamed egg, and corn cheese. These, plus the banchan, made the meal abundant enough for 5 hungry adults. We also ordered the beef tartare naengmyeon, which was an elite experience. The beef and the buckwheat noodles were prepared to perfection...would eat it every week if I could!! The only note I had is for the steamed egg to be cooked a bit softer- I don't like the texture of the egg as much when it goes for too long. Still, the flavor was good. Service was great, and they attended to our grill for us, making sure to divvy up the meat to each side of the table. Really great experience, will absolutely return!

One if not the best KBBQ in the area! Don't forget the cheese corn and the steamed egg! So much bonchon and it's ready when you sit down. Great cuts of meats. The staff is so attentive and always so nice! I would definitely come back since its that good!

I heard the meat was really good, and it’s been getting a lot of attention in Palisades Park, so I decided to check it out. Even though it wasn’t the weekend, there were still quite a few customers, and I had to wait about 20 minutes. Once I was seated, the table was already nicely set with side dishes. The meat melted in my mouth, and every single side dish was delicious. I think this place has the best meat in Palisades Park. The wait definitely seems to be worth it.

This BBQ restaurant is truly a hidden gem! The meat is incredibly fresh, and each bite is tender and juicy. Once grilled, the aroma is irresistible, making you want to keep eating. The service is also excellent—the staff is friendly, attentive, and always looking out for our needs. The flavors are authentically delicious, and every dish leaves you wanting more. Both the meat and side dishes are superb, making it a perfect spot to dine with family and friends. Highly recommended!

Short Review: + Food: Excellent + Service: Great + Conclusion: ★★★★★ DEFINITELY COME BACK Detail Review: We ordered small Beef Combo with Kimchi Soup. There was a waiter helped us grilling the beef. The beef was really good, it's excellent. My wife loved all small dished that you usually have in a Korean restaurant. We're so satisfy with the food there I will bring my family back some day. I highly recommend to try this restaurant out. Trust me, I am an engineer! :)

Google
We’ve been coming to this location for years, even before the new owners and new name and has always been our favorite KBBQ in the area. Unfortunately our most recent visit was a bit disappointing, as they reduced the portion size of the beef combo that we usually order. Normally the small is enough for three people, but it seems to be barely enough for two people now, which makes things much more expensive. Hard to justify the cost for portion size given the amount of competition in the area. Food quality is still very good, but not sure if we’ll be back.

I went here with my Wife for her Birthday 🎂 This place was great it is not to bad price wise they do cook everything in front of you for 2 with plenty of food out price was around 120$. If you like Korean BBQ style with pork belly this was a great place I will go again maybe for our anniversary next time 🤤🤤🤤

Order Kalbi Dumplings! Ask for the lettuce, garlic and jalapeño if you want add that to the lettuce wrap or grill with the meat. I drive an hour and bring out of town guests, family /friends celebrations for the BEST Marinated Chuck Flap Tail BBQ (it’s the first top right line on the BBQ menu page) the most tender cut not all K-BBQ restaurants offer. The shredded scallions with the soybean dressed with the gochujang, and lettuce salad with house dressing are part of banchan for BBQ table which are excellent offerings. Try Korean rice fermented drink called, Mak-geol-li, is almost carbonated, goes well with the meat. Nangmyun broth is great! Ddeuk-bok-gi, kimchi stew, seafood pancake are great add-on. Consistent fresh food. Make a reservation for party larger than 6. Steamed egg is complementary as well as all side dishes you can ask without charge. I order to go for guests to impress - with all the side dishes in a nice presentable sectional container as well. Never disappointed!

Yelp
This place is NOT all you can style Korean bbq, but rather portioned out into meal plans for the evening or for lunch. The all-you can eat spots are best for a large group of friends, party goers or late nighters. I always love Korean bbq and I would argue Jeong Yook has some of the best quality meats and portioning around. If you're looking for a portioned out meal for a date night or family dinner, this place makes a lot of sense. Beautiful interior and friendly service and staff.

Yelp
Still the best experience after like 9 years of visiting. The ambiance and food quality remain consistent! The servers are always attentive and caring. They have my favorite banchan and marinaded pork collar! Super traditional

Yelp
Came here with friends for dinner on Korean BBQ. The service was amazing, they cooked it for us and all the meat was cooked on point (not raw nor overcooked), tender, and juicy. We ordered multiple types of meat and overall they were all great except the last one that was a pork dish. It was a bit chewy. The small dishes were great as well and different from other places: broccoli, salad, cucumber, tofu skin, kimchy, etc. We ordered the seafood pancake and cold noodle dish and they were great. This place has its own parking lot so no need to worry about parking. The ambiance was great, well lit, and not loud so we were able to have conversation and have an amazing time together. Another unfortunate thing was they didnt accept the Yelp Check in that gives free beer. I showed it to the waitress and she said deal was stopped...

Yelp
Jeong Yook offers a spacious dining area with attentive and friendly staff. While I found the BBQ to be just okay, everyone's taste is different, so it's worth giving this spot a try for a good KBBQ experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Jeong Yook is a great place to get your fix of KBBQ ! Their cuts of meats are great and delicious and the workers help you cook the meats. They gave us a generous amount of banchan that are all yummy and compliment well with the bbq meats. Totally recommend and will for sure visit again whenever I am around the area!

Yelp
This place is ok. I've had much better and cheaper. Wagyu or prime, whatever, I couldn't taste that quality and the meats tasted plain and no different from the other kbbq places. Ordered the small beef combo and it was enough for 2 people but again, didn't feel all that hyped quality. Service was excellent though and the server took care of the grill for us. Didn't need a reservation and was able to walk in and get seated quickly. Worth a try but I won't be returning.

Yelp
It was my first time dining here, and the food quality was fantastic. The service was good; however, my friends and I asked for some rice a few times, which took a while. The server told us that they were cooking a fresh batch of rice, which was then delivered closer to the end of our meal. That was the only thing that I was not pleased with, but other than that, everything was excellent!

Yelp
The food was food, and the servers work as a team to provide amazing and speedy service. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Get: the marinated prime boneless short rib Jeong Yook is my go to place for Kalbi/Korean BBQ. Their marinated prime boneless short rib is SPECIAL. It's now the golden standard that I use as a rubric for other Korean BBQ places. The meat is SUPER tender and marinade is chef's kiss. There is a cheaper option for kalbi but try me get this one! The portion is big and its just so delicious. Before Jeong Yook came along, this place used to be a Kang Ho Dong Baek Jung and it was delicious. I was sad when it closed and decided to come here to try out this new place. The service and food here is impeccable! I'm convinced their must be a small army of korean grandmas in the kitchen, because everything here comes out so tasty. Occasionally, they do have raw marinated crabs here and those are also delicious! Ambiance is great, its never to crowded here and there is a good amount of space between tables. Every server I've had here is super nice and great at grilling. They're also open on Thanksgiving Day so this is where my family went so that we didnt have to deal with the hassle of cooking. HIGHLY recommend this place and I will be back often :)

Yelp
The place has a nice vibe with good service and the food is great! I'll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Ehhh not really a fan of this spot. It's too expensive for the amount of MEAT that you get. I feel like they try to fill you up with sides and that was their main focus when this is a Korean bbq restaurant. When you come to these establishments you are expecting the star of the show to be the meat. Also alot of the meat lacked flavor. I would have given 3 stars but they did not honor the free beer if you check in that's on their yelp page. I'm not sure what's the point of having this on their page if they aren't going to honor it. When establishments do this i call it bait and switch which i don't like. It was cool to try, but i won't be back. There's plenty of other Korean bbq spots in the area.

Yelp
Food was amazing, the meat just melted in my mouth. Meat was so fresh. And the side dishes were incredible to pair. Service was also great, will be going back! Ambiance was also nice, beautiful interior and wasn't too busy when we went.

Yelp
This is my second time visiting Jeong Yook. I came with my family, total of 8 people. We ordered two premium beef combos, pork belly, squid noodles and small intestine soup. The food and service were pretty good. We were definitely full, it was around $500. The quality of the food is amazing. I'll definitely come back'

Yelp
Drove from Boston to New Jersey just to try the Korean food and this place did not disappoint. I came with a group of Korean people so tbh they did all the ordering and I just back and ate. I don't know most of the names of what we ordered but it was very delicious. This is not an AYCE bbq place. We ordered a family style meal where they bring out a lot of meats and help you cook it. Each meat they brought out was super delicious and tasted high quality which is insane because some of the meat didn't even have seasoning. It was just that naturally delicious. One part of KBBQ that needs to be respected is the banchan. This place did it well. It had all of the qualities of what makes banchan great: good variety, refillable portions, free (as in no extra charge), and of course delicious. My friends also ordered the cold noodles which were good but I barely ate it because I was eating so much meat. They gave us soup and softened egg which was the cherry on top. I liked how they brought out a cheese corn dipping sauce for on the meats. The marinated Galbi and pork belly were my favorites. They even brought out beef tartare which was extraordinary. I'm not the best judge of kbbq but I'm certain this will blowout any place you can find in Boston. Great service as well. We got a lot of attention because there weren't too many customers so everything was fast and efficient.

Yelp
This is one of my go to Korean BBQ in New Jersey. I haven't tried their dry aged beef yet but I am looking forward to it. Service is always quick at this place, servers are very attentive. My best dish here is the marinated short rib, it's tender and flavorful and so good that I ordered it two times. If I'm with my son, we will order 3 plus the other meats, that's how good it is. Lots of banchans at the table! Love it .
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy and tender kbbq spot! There's plenty of parking too. We also went on a Monday night so it wasn't that busy, servers were tentative and meat timing was just right. Wished each table had a dedicated server so it would be more personable but enjoyed the meat so far. We got the small beef combo for $99 & the aged prime rib eye for $65. Def pricey for the amt you're getting but not complaining for the meat quality. The kimchi side here was a banger! Love the tartiness and freshness - yums
google avatar

Jerika F.

Yelp
Amazing KBBQ with super quality meats. My husband and I love the service and how they prepare the meat on the grill for you. We opt for a combo every time. Staff is very friendly and the restaurant is clean. Always excited when we come here!

Yelp
Very good food and it's delicious, even though the free beer check in from Yelp is totally a lie (and the waiters are quite impatient once we show them the Yelp check in offer)
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
The food was perfect! They gave a lot of small plates like kimchi, radish, fish cake, broccoli and etc. which is what I love when I come to a Korean bbq. We got the Small Beef Combo which was ENOUGH to feed both me and my gf. It is definitely worth the price, it's actually priced really well. It was actually perfect enough for 3 people. Young was our cook and he cooked our beef was extremely helpful and every time he finished cooking the meat he'd put 1 piece of meat on our plate and recommend us to either put it with this sauce or that, or no sauce at all. At the beginning he also said, "cut off fat or leave fat?". I asked for medium rare and it was exactly that. Amazing asking service. In terms of the ambiance, we came at a less busy time. The place looked really cool! Overall, our experience was great and we would definitely recommend coming back for me!

Yelp
We've been regulars at Jeong Yook ever since we moved to the neighborhood, and one thing I can say for sure is that they're incredibly reliable. Some K-BBQ places have their ups and downs, whether it's in terms of meat quality, grilling experience, or other factors, but Jeong Yook seems to maintain a high level of consistency. They complement their BBQ with a variety of solid dishes and appetizers. Personally, I like to follow up my BBQ with Naengmyun, and their noodle soup is always delicious (the more mustard and vinegar, the better). I must admit I'm not usually a huge fan of Kimchi Jigae, but the other day it tasted so good that I was pleasantly surprised. Their dry-aged combos are also extremely delicious, although they are on the pricier side, but you definitely get what you pay for. The service is generally good, but it can vary depending on the staff. One night, we had someone who was very attentive, which we appreciated, but on another occasion, a staff member seemed to have forgotten our request for no cheese (wife is lactose intolerant), which was a bit disappointing, possibly a miscommunication. Overall, this place is tried and true. When you come here, you know exactly what to expect, and you have to admire the level of consistency they provide. The only reason I'm not giving them a solid five stars is the emergence of new and competitive KBBQ places in the area. We'll continue to dine here because their food is top-notch, the sides are great, and the service is usually good. I hope that soon I'll be able to change my 4-star rating to a 5-star one!

Yelp
This is a great Korean barbecue restaurant! We got the large beef combo and it comes with a lot of food! We were all in a food coma when we left. It showed no reservations available until 3 days later after the date we wanted so we went to the restaurant and just waited on line. It was around 7:30 Friday night and we were seated around 8:45. The restaurant is big and there were actually several empty tables but maybe it's because they don't have enough staff and that's why they couldn't seat us?? Our combo came with thin beef brisket (the kind you use for hot pot), short ribs and a marinated beef. It also came with a steamed egg bowl, a soup and cheesy corn. All of the meat was good. My favorite was the short rib, which melts like butter but has a nice crispy char! My kids loved the marinated beef - it had good flavor. All of the beef had that fire charred taste because it is cooked over a fire. The meat actually touches the fire, which sometime flares up. The steamed egg was so good! I don't know how they make it so fluffy. The kids loved the cheesy corn so much that we ordered another one. The complimentary ban chan was all nicely laid out and set up before we even sat down, so I was able to dig in as soon as I sat down given how late we were seated! The lettuce salad with the carrot ginger dressing was fresh and crunchy and the macaroni salad was pretty good too. Lastly, I have to mention how refreshing the cold tea was. It is ice cold and had good tea flavoring (unsweetened). It paired so well with all that firey hot food! Definitely coming back again! My only knock off for a star is because it gets pricey.

Yelp
First time coming here ever since it was Baekjeong. Came here on Saturday afternoon and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. Ended up getting the beef combo with prime boneless short ribs (galbi aka kalbi). I usually get the prime rib eye but ended up getting prime short rib. And I'm glad I did. It was so good. Everything was good. The complimentary bahn-chan (side dishes - assorted) was fresh and tasty. If your in the mood for KBBQ (korean bbq) I highly recommend this spot. * if you're ordering the beef combo, I recommend the prime short rib. Your welcome. * you can order more bahn-chan if you run out of any of them (except the cheese corn, I think)

Yelp
Absolutely amazing experience eating korean bbq. Upon walking in, there is a display full of aged meat. The tomahawk steak caught our eye and we knew we had to try it out. A party of 3, we were quickly seated and our table was already set with side dishes. Service was impeccable and the servers were friendly and answered all our questions. We ordered the pork and beef combo that came with corn and cheese, your choice of kimchi tofu soup or soybean paste soup, and steamed egg. We also ordered a tomahawk steak. Everything came out really fast and looked incredibly fresh. The waiter cooked everything for us to perfection and explained to us the different sauces. It was our first time trying a tomahawk steak and it was cooked well. Very tender and juicy. All other meats were exquisite as well. Please keep in mind, this place is a bit pricy but we'll worth it for the fresh meat and service you receive. They have their own parking lot and the interior is well ventilated. We definitely noticed that our clothing did not smell of bbq which is a definite plus.

Yelp
Jeong Yook was the last stop of our NJ/NYC trip and my oh my - we were blown away. Because we were coming back from NYC, we were pretty tired so we just wanted to grab something quick, but of course who can say no to KBBQ? They were open till midnight (because apparently no where in Jersey stays open past 10) so we decided to come here -- it was only a 8 minute walk from our Airbnb, so that was nice. We walked in and because it was pretty late at night, the place was relatively empty. We got sat right away and we decided to order the Premium Combo ($169.99) which came with Prime Tenderloin, Dry Aged Prime Ribeye & Marinated Prime Short Rib. We also wanted to order the Giant Beef Tartare Sushi, but they were out, so we just got an order of the beef tartare. Our food came out relatively quickly -- the side dishes were pretty good. I especially enjoyed the cucumber kimchi. The combo also comes with steamed egg and soybean paste stew. The steamed egg was absolutely amazing -- it was topped with cheese and I was blown away at how good it was. The soybean paste stew was also absolutely flavorful and amazing. The cuts of meats came out shortly and to be completely honest -- it doesn't seem like it's a lot of food but it's actually a LOT of food but I usually never order bowls of rice but I did this time and it works out well because these dishes go well with rice. My favorite was definitely the prime ribeye -- it was so tender and juicy and the soy sauce is a great compliment. I especially liked that they give wasabi as I love having a little bit of wasabi with my KBBQ. The marinated rib was also really good because the marinade wasn't too strong, and it was just suited for my palate. The beef tartare was also really good -- I could tell it was fresh not frozen just at the first bite and I really enjoyed it. This was the perfect way to end my trip and Jeong Yook (though pricy) really knocked my socks off. I definitely want to return here -- the food is great, the vibes are phenomenal and the service was also great as well!

Yelp
The food was not bad. For a Kbbq place the seating was spacious but the vent for my table was broken so it kept falling down to our meat. Also the place didn't honor the yelp coupon for the free beer FYI. It's too expansive for the products I'm getting. I'm not sure if I'll come back for the bang for the buck I'm getting.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! Been coming here for years but I wish they had some dingle bar type seating too so I could come here on my own sometime too The beef combo is just the lettuce salad so fresh and crispy Service not the best but I get it they're just fast. I can't feel like tipping if you're not doing anything to impress me you know but otherwise great here
google avatar

Yelp
One of my go to spots for KBBQ. Been coming year for a few years, through the ownership change. Saw somethings that needed to be optimized through the ownership transition but besides that meats are always fresh, service has been great, and the space is nice and open.... thats all you can ask for at a KBBQ spot. ventilation can be better but not a big deal.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
We missed our reservation due to traffic but they were still able to get us in fairly quickly on a busy day. Plenty of servers helping to cook and wait on the customers. Lots of free sides and the beef combo comes with steamed egg, soy bean soup and a corn with melted cheese. We also ordered the marinated short rib and dry-aged ribeye. The individual entrees are a bit pricy but the combos are really good deals. My daughter usually likes marinated meats but liked the non-marinated meats here as well with a touch of dipping salt. We usually go for all you can eat kbbq but the high quality premium cuts with great marbling are perfect for special occasions.

Yelp
Order: - Premium Combo - Prime Tenderloin (5/5) - Dry Aged Prime Ribeye (4/5) - Marinated Short Ribs (5/5) - Nangmyun Pros: - Amazing tasting meat - A lot of banchan (appetizers) that come with the meal - Egg stew, cheese corn and either kimchi or fermented soy bean stew that comes with a combo meal - Great service - they cook the meat for you here so you can enjoy your meal and so the meat is cooked properly Cons: - Expensive - Our kimchi stew never came out during our meal, but the waiter made up for it by wrapping it to-go and giving us some free banchan with it Overall: An amazing KBBQ experience

Yelp
My go to spot for kbbq. This is the benchmark for what kbbq should be. Great staff, quality meats, and great atmosphere

Yelp
This place is for lovers of quality Korean barbecue! Our party of 4 actually spent a lot less for the same amount of food we eat an AYCE KBBQ place, but you get great tasting banchan and the meat was definitely much better than any other KBBQ place I've been. We came on a Friday night and the seating was really easy and quick-- about 15 minutes. The customer service was also alright; there's no frills in their service but they were still very attentive. Overall, can't wait to come back to place!

Yelp
Twas a chilly Christmas day during the pandemic. Decided last minute to cancel Christmas dinner with family members to minimize contact. I was scrambling to figure out dinner plans and I am thankful that I can always count on the Korean and Chinese restaurants to stay open during the holidays! I was pleasantly surprised that Jeong Yook was opened when I called to confirm. After seeing some good reviews about this place, I was also excited for some Korean BBQ at Jeong Yook! In terms of safety, we did indoor dining. When you first step in, the host will take your temperature. The tables were spaced out with dividers between the booths for appropriate social distancing. The place is also extremely clean and workers were conscious about wearing their masks and gloves. I felt safe dining in the restaurant. I ordered the small mixed combo and it was plenty for 2 people to share! It comes with your choice of soy bean paste or kimchi stew plus corn cheese for the grill and steamed eggs. The quality of the meat was amazing. The mixed combo comes with beef brisket, pork belly, pork jowl, and marinated beef. The service was wonderful because they cook everything for you. They have a delicious tangy and slightly spicy soy sauce for your to dip your meats. It was refreshing and complimented the meats well. The side dishes were also delicious. For the rice lovers out there, you have to ask for a bowl of rice because they don't serve that to you automatically. Also, I was excited for the beer check-in deal but I was told that they were not doing that any longer! Nonetheless, I still ordered a Sapporo with my hearty meal! Cheers!

Yelp
Didn't get to try the beef tartare sushi though someone mentioned it was really good. The steak was very marbled, delicious and our server cooked it to perfection. The table was well prepared when we arrived and it had some of your classic staples. Dipping sauces galore and a good amount of veggies and salads to complement all the meat you're going to throw down. Nothing to complain about and everything was good. Sesame oil, garlic are must haves.
google avatar

Dave C.

Yelp
I had the "Premium Combo". Beef was tasty but not enough for what you're paying. Mostly dingy sides, little portions and nothing special. Waiter is cooking meat with his face mask hanging from his forearm all over food. Staff is hanging out by register joking and fooling around. Bathroom was clean, place well kept. THEY DO NOT HONOR THEIR FREE BEER COUPON FROM YELP! Are you kidding me! Been there done that. Can't recommend because of sloppy service which has me thinking how they handle food and definitely overpriced for what you're getting.
google avatar

Eric L.

Yelp
Unlike a lot of places in ktown in Manhattan there was good social distancing maintained with the outdoor dining here. The inside was also pretty spacious and empty for indoor dining if you are brave enough for it. The food itself was great too. Delicious banchan consisting of a delicious salad, seaweed, kimchi, cucumber, and turnip kimchi. The dishes we got for lunch were great too. While the kbbq seemed overpriced (though I'm sure delicious), the orders we made had a lot of value. Kalbi tang with dipping sauce, soondubu with flap steak, and octopus bibimbap. The flap steak was so delicious and tender I could have sworn it was kalbi. The onions it came with on the sizzling platter hit the spot also. Kalbi tang was very generous in portions and falloff the bone tender. The soup and noodles it came with were awesome too. Rich beefy broth flavor from cooking all day. Octopus bibimbap was pretty great with the assortment of veggies and mushrooms and fresh tasting spicy octopus. Service was ok. Didn't really check up on us much but pretty easy to flag down. One server lady wouldn't honor the yelp check-in free beer saying they stopped that since the pandemic, which I totally understand but it was the way she just waved me off... It felt a little bit rude.

Yelp
Highly recommend this place if you are looking for Korean BBQ ! All setting is super clean and organized. Service was good too!

Best Korean bbq in tri state area of not the country .staff is very polite and respectful. Also I like the fact that it feels like an open space even when it's packed it doesn't feel like everyone is on top of you .

Yelp
By far my favorite Korean bbq spot. The service was excellent, waiter cooked our meats perfectly. Went on a weekday lunch time and it wasn't crowded. We stood quite a long time drinking and eating , they did not rush us at all. It's not cheap but the quality of the intestines and kalbi was very good. I would definitely return and recommend.

Yelp
Decided to get some KBBQ at 5 PM on a Thursday night and it wasn't too busy. We were seated right away at a BBQ table and it had a plethora of banchan, which they were also nice enough to refill since we were so hungry before our meat came out. We ordered the premium combo (prime tenderloin, dry-aged prime ribeye, and marinated prime short rib) and pork belly. The combo also came with a choice of stew, corn and cheese, and steamed cheese. This was all more than enough for 4-5 people! We were also in a slight rush since we had to be somewhere else in an hour or so. Our server was nice enough to ask if we wanted her to cook the other meats on a different BBQ as we ate the meats that were already cooked. Although we enjoy watching the meat be cooked in front of us, we were basically salivating while our server was cooking and cutting the meat. She saved us the time and the torture! Out of all the meats, the prime tenderloin and the marinated prime short rib were by far the best! The prime tenderloin was juicy and supple while the marinated short rib was sweet and savory. I've been to this restaurant multiple times before, but I am finally writing a review. One of my favorite KBBQ places in palisades park!

Yelp
Not as popular as before, but still very solid. No need to wait for a table anymore!

Yelp
This experience is from March prior to COVID shutdowns but overall had a good experience at Jeong Yook. As typical for a Korean BBQ restaurant, they have different menu options that give you a couple of different cuts and accompanying side dishes as well. We also had the naengmyun which was a refreshing way to end but wasn't anything special (personally I'm a fan of chik naengmyun). The meat was good and overall a solid bbq restaurant!

Yelp
When you are looking for good quality Korean BBQ, it does come with a price, but the quality delivered here hits the spot! I used to come here when it was Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong and have visited few times since the restaurant change. The service still is very attentive, as the staff has consistently been good and my meats would be cooked in a timely manner. The quality of the meat is still very good and there are some different options than the previous establishment. They offer some higher quality meat (dry aged even) and they taste great. I typically will go for either the small/large beef, pork, or combo beef/pork platters to get a variety of meat. I honestly never got the other menu options but with that grill in front of you, why not get the meat?!? You also get your typical helping of banchan (side dishes), in addition to egg, corn & cheese, and soup (depending on the time of day). Even though the prices are comparable (or a little more depending on what you order) to all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ restaurants in the area, I prefer going to a place like this since I am looking for quality over quantity! Oh and last thing, this place is open LATE! So when you have that late night Korean BBQ craving, this is a place you can go!

Yelp
Food is good but unfortunately the team is very under experienced. Many other Korean BBQ places in area with better service and offering

Yelp
This place has fabulous meat. The sides are excellent. As far as Korean bbq goes, this is solid. Their short rib was phenomenal. Dry aged steak was good too, but the short rib was the winner of the night. Service is good. Walk in only. Open on Mondays.

Yelp
I was looking for a spot to have some KBBQ and Yelp said they had outdoor dining. Indeed, they have the facilities for outdoor dining - there are a bunch of unopened tents and tables outside next to the restaurant, but none of it is open? This past week has had wonderful weather, so I'm not quite sure why they're not opening outdoor dining. We ended up dining indoors, which felt super safe. Each table is separated by a divider with plastic. They check your temperature before you're allowed inside, you have to leave your info for contact tracing, and you have to hand sanitize as well. Staff were friendly and really attentive. We never had to cook our own meats. We had the large meat sampler, which came with your choice of soy bean soup or kimchi tofu soup, cheese corn, and steamed egg. We also ordered a seafood pancake to split. It was definitely enough food for four people and we were stuffed by the time we left. Prices were fair and they didn't rush us out when we finished our meals.

Yelp
It took me a while to visit this place. Honestly I only came here because taste 1080 was full, but I'm glad we tried this place. While I do miss kanghodong, I feel that this is a good substitute and enjoyed my meal here. We got the small mixed beef and pork set, which was delicious and came with steamed egg, corn cheese, and a choice between kimchi jigae and dwenjang jigae. Food was delicious and service was attentive. I really liked their pickled cucumbers and some of the other side dishes. They cooked some of the meats on a separate grill, maybe for social distancing purposes. The pork (samgyeopsal and something I'm not sure of the name of) and the chadeolbulgi were amazing, the last beef pieces were a little lackluster. The only thing I didn't enjoy as much was the naengmyun, which was icy cold with super thin noodles that were hard to chew. I feel like the noodles should have been cut a few more times before serving. I saw an option for veggies and mushrooms, which I was interested in, but it was almost $20 and I didn't know how much was in it. I wish more places would adopt taste 1080's mushroom set with truffle sauce. Also, the restaurant was freezing. I was only wearing a t shirt--maybe I should have kept my jacket on, but I didn't want to get food all over it. It only got a little better with the grill on. I know there is a lot of grumbling in this post by me, but I do think this place deserves at least 4-5 stars. I probably would've enjoyed my meal even more if it were warmer.
