The 38 Best Restaurants in Rome, Italy | Eater

"The cool, windowless inner sanctum at number 10 on Via del Moro in Trastevere only has a handful of tables lining two walls, and they fill up quickly with 90-minute reservation slots beginning at 6 p.m. The interior design evokes the Orient Express with wooden accents and overhead racks above the seating, and the bartenders’ wardrobe and glassware are a throwback to the last century too. The menu of bottled classic cocktails, Champagne, and non-alcoholic drinks provides an oasis of refinement in the heart of Rome’s rowdy nightlife district. Know before you go: Reservations are essential — book online for this hidden cocktail bar experience." - Katie Parla

My Rome with Alessandro Pipero

"Best saved for an after-dinner drink rather than an aperitivo, this bar is one I recommend—and it’s fabulous." - The MICHELIN Guide

We were recommended to visit Jerry Thomas Bar by local industry bartenders at Freni e Frizioni and Argot, and it did not disappoint in any way. This hidden speakeasy is incredibly classy, beautifully designed, and perfectly intimate. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere draws you in — low lighting, thoughtful décor, and an amazing background soundtrack of 70s, 80s, and 90s rock that sets the mood without overpowering the experience. The cocktails are expertly curated and crafted with intention. I let the bartender make several of her personal favorites, and each drink was outstanding — balanced, creative, and memorable. By the end of the night, the energy in the room transformed into something special. It truly felt like Cheers — tables became friends, conversations flowed, and everyone was drinking together as one big group. A special shoutout to Franco, our server, who was extremely professional, warm, and genuinely welcoming. His hospitality elevated the entire experience and made us feel right at home from start to finish. If you’re in Rome, do not miss this place. Jerry Thomas Bar is a hidden gem located in the hip Trastevere neighborhood and is an absolute must for anyone who appreciates exceptional cocktails, great music, and a truly unforgettable atmosphere.

Perfect place to detach and relax after exploring Rome or Trastevere neighbourhood. It is a speakeasy style bar, in a main street but you could pass by and not notice it. You have to ring a bell to get inside. Indoor it is a small area giving you the feeling of being in an orient express train. It is ideal for people wanting something different from the typical outdoor seatings of Trastevere and having an experience rather than just a drink. Cocktails are well made with special ingredients and you can also order off menu out of preference. I was hosted by Edoardo and Lorenzo, too you and enthusiastic gentleman which give you the impression of welcoming you into their private space. They give attention into details, helping with your jackets, toilette, remembering your name, giving suggestions etc. Decent prices based on quality and overall average in Rome. Definitely worth a stop after dinner in Trastevere

Atmosphere: 9/10 Located in Trastevere, Jerry Thomas Bar Room is designed like an old, upscale train carriage—dark wood, plush details, and a layout with only table seating (no backbar). The atmosphere is stunning and fully immersive. Music—old school jazz, blues, funk, and classics—plays at exactly the right volume and ties the theme together. Reservations are highly recommended given the limited seating. Drinks: 8.5/10 Recommendation: Consulate The menu is classy but simple, with a relatively small selection. Cocktails are tasty and ingredients well balanced. High-quality glassware, nice coasters, and clean presentation. Garnish work is kept basic but fits the style. Service: 9/10 Water served on arrival. Staff is professional, very friendly, and consistent throughout the evening. Reservations are needed due to space. Prices are above average for Rome.

Amazing place for a great cocktail. Everything was exquisite from beginning to end. It is a very small, intimate place, so be sure to make reservations. Drinks were phenomenal. Be sure to try the dirty martini, which is purple because they use black olives, which I’ve never seen. Staff were also super friendly and professional. Highly recommend!

Located in the heart of Trastevere, this quirky little cocktail bar enchants with its atmosphere, service, and selection of cocktails and music. We enjoyed our cocktails with burrata in the train carriage and had a wonderful evening.

What can I say about this place? We walked in without a reservation, and the waiter informed us that we could stay for half an hour if we wanted. We accepted. Later on, I insisted on paying and leaving since we had already stayed longer than 30 minutes, but they told us we could stay a bit longer as the next table was running late. We ordered two cocktails: the Parker 75 and a dry martini (though I regret not trying their house signature version). Both were well executed—the Parker 75 was outstanding with sweet, aromatic notes, yet incredibly balanced. The bar was cozy, and the music was perfect (as a musician, I always pay close attention to that). But more than anything, I loved the people who worked there. I wish I had more days in Rome so I could go back again. Last but not least, they offered us some vermouth to try, on the house. Thank you for your kindness and professionalism. Until we meet again.

We were lucky enough to experience the excellent professional dynamic between Ramon and Franco, who not only crafted amazing cocktails for us, but gave us great recommendations for the remainder of our stay. We were in Rome celebrating my boyfriend and his mother’s birthdays, and we can all agree that this place was a major highlight of our stay. Highly recommend; thank you again, Ramon and Franco for your impeccable hospitality!

A very nice surprise in Trastevere, perfectly aligned with some of the best cocktail bars I’ve tried in the UK, France, and around Europe. I started with their Consulate cocktail, a well-balanced rum-based drink where the sherry really shines, lingering on the palate. The Espresso Martini was another highlight: I asked for cognac instead of vodka, and the team suggested French Calvados. Brilliant choice. Apple and coffee work incredibly well together. They also offered me a small taste of their Champagne Martini, excellent as well. Beyond the drinks, the team clearly knows mixology inside out and enjoys real conversation about it. Cozy atmosphere, with a subtle Belle Époque touch. Easily the place to be in Trastevere if you’re looking for seriously good cocktails.
