Family‑owned since 1989, downtown’s Middle Eastern cafe and grocer turns out shawarma, falafel, and house salads that taste like home cooking. Frequently praised by local publications, it’s a community hub as much as a meal.

Good food, cooked to perfection, healthy options, great location in the heart of downtown GSO. Their lamb burger with feta and fries was amazing delicious. The meat was coocked perfectly and fries were hot and crunchy I always come back any time I can

Jerusalem Market catered a private event of 50 for us. The food was absolutely amazing! The dolma and falafel were very popular with our guests. The owner was wonderful to work with and helped with planning what we might need. Delivery and set up of our food was also excellent. Many guests raved about the quality!

Google
The mantle of best Middle Eastern in Greensboro is a matter of considerable debate, but for those seeking this type of food anywhere near downtown, Jerusalem Market should be a no-brainer. Upon entry, you’ll see a drinks and dessert case and minimal seating, but don’t let that dissuade you: there’s a more spacious dining room in the back. It’s low-key but tastefully appointed. Jerusalem Market’s menu offers platters, salads, mezze (small plates), and wraps. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well as lamb/beef/chicken options plus combination plates for those who want a little bit of everything. You order at the counter and take a number back to your table. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I went with the Armenian wrap, which featured basterma (thinly sliced seasoned dried beef), provolone, baba ganoush, and cucumber yogurt with zaatar pita chips on the side. My wife was hoping for the Turk (similar but with sojouk sausage instead of beef) and upon finding they were out opted for the lamb burger on special instead. Given the day’s humidity, hibiscus iced tea seemed too good to pass up. Jerusalem Market makes everything fresh, so the food understandably took a bit to arrive. However, it was well worth the wait. The basterma was salty, and the refreshing yogurt balanced it nicely. The zaatar chips were crisp and full of flavor and dangerously addictive (seriously, I could eat a bagful). My wife enjoyed the lamb burger with feta and a side salad, and we were both glad that we went with the hibiscus tea (free refills). While they may not have the huge portions of a Nazareth Bread, Jerusalem Market’s prices aren’t unreasonable given the downtown location. The wrap was $14 or so and the burger $16. All told, Jerusalem Market promises a healthy meal using quality ingredients and prepared with care.

Amazing, beautiful space, kind employees, what else to ask for! The food is gorgeous and so tasty. The pie is to die for, the potato salad... chefs kiss! Not to mention you can feel the love I'm the space. Family recipes and lots of non vegan and vegan options. New favorite place! 😍

10/10 across the board. The staff were so friendly and sweet. The food was delicious and filling. The store was clean and cozy. Great work⭐

We loved our experience here. The food was very good, especially the side dishes. The service was fantastic. They allowed us to fill our personal water bottle from their water supply! We both had chicken kebabs. I had the potato salad (my favorite) and the yogurt cucumber. My sister had the hummus and the feta dip. You could choose soft pita or pita chips, but we both got soft pita. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
I was really craving some falafel and decided to give this place a try. The man behind the counter was incredibly welcoming and helpful--he listened to what I was in the mood for and helped me navigate the menu to come up with the best option. Every tweak we made came out exactly right from the kitchen. I appreciated the extra care he took packing my drinks--he placed my cup of water and iced tea in a 4-pack holder and even wrapped them in saran wrap to prevent spills during the drive home. That kind of attention to detail goes a long way. The falafel itself was flavorful, the hummus was pretty darn good, and the homemade hot sauce had a nice kick and a great flavor. Overall, the falafel platter was decent--not amazing, but solid. I'd definitely come back for the friendly service and to try more of the menu.

Yelp
I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. Which is what we did. We were travelling and found this on Yelp and decided go out of our way to stop by to get a "to go" order for the road. It was a Wed (before Thanksgiving) and there was one person in the place. After we ordered, she said it would be 15-20 mins to get the food. It took almost 30 mins. My bride ordered the Chicken Wrap ($12) and I ordered the Shawarma Wrap ($12). The pita wraps were super thin (never seen anything quite like it)....which made it a little more challenging to eat. The taste of the meat was just fine. They asked what we wanted for our side....we selected cucumbers (they gave us multiple options)....they were just plain cucumbers....no seasoning at all (and they ended up charging us $.50 when it certainly sounded like it would be included in our selection).

Yelp
Amazing delicious meal! I enjoyed this place the moment I walked in! They have a variety of goodies to such as baklava and date pastries as well as delicious chocolate candy bars and a selection of wines to try. They also offer a great menu with plenty to choose from even if you are looking for something healthy or are vegetarian. I enjoyed the welcoming feeling however it did take longer than expected for our food to come out. They have a great outdoor seating as well thats enclosed in the very back. The ambiance inside is very chill and relaxing good to go for lunch time to catch up with coworkers, friends or family!

Yelp
Jerusalem Market on Elm is a favorite of mine in downtown GSO. Everyone is incredibly friendly and all their food is made fresh. I'm a big fan of the falafel wrap...make sure you get it with the hot sauce!!
google avatar

Yelp
Healthy, fresh, flavorful real food. Staff is always friendly and this time homemade hot sauce was offered and so delicious! I've had salads here and yummy chicken kabob wraps. The place is clean and has plenty of seating in the back even with an outdoor courtyard! Highly recommend this gem in downtown Greensboro. Prices are a little higher than in other places but the food is fresh and high quality. Enjoy!

Yelp
Why has it taken me so long to visit this restaurant?! Such a hidden gem in Greensboro. I love Mediterranean food and this is near the top of my picks. Service was outstanding and friendly. I got the Amir salad and it was outstanding. Super fresh, love the dressing! The chicken was cooked perfectly. That creamy feta though! Can't wait to try other entrees on a future visit! I sat outside on the cute patio. I almost forgot I was in Greensboro. lol just a perfect afternoon!

Yelp
I have a confession, despite the wide love for this restaurant, my visit last week is the first time I have ever gone. But not my first time at Jerusalem Market! I live very close to their original location out toward Sedgefield, and it's always a tasty place to stop in for fresh food. I also have no shortage of great middle eastern and Mediterranean type foods near me, so going all the way to downtown to eat just isn't something I need to do. That said, I was meeting my pop for lunch in downtown, and we both decided to give this place a shot. It's a great cafe downtown with an excellent location, situated on Elm street with several other choices. The food is made fresh to order, so unless you order something served cold, just keep in mind there's a 15-20 minute cook. This is not something I mind of course. I ordered the Armenian wrap, which is beef tenderloin with provolone, baba ghanouj, yogurt sauce and spices in one of their flatbreads. Comes with Z'atar chips, and I added a small cup of hummus for an upcharge. Personally. I'd like to see hummus come with those chips as part of the price, but it wasn't too bad. For a downtown cafe serving high quality food, prices here are reasonable. The flavor was definitely on point! Texture was excellent too, from the doughy pull of the flatbread, to the creamy sauce and baba. It was great. The Za'tar chips were crispy and spiced nicely. Dipping in the hummus, great combo. I had water to drink, but keep in mind all other beverages are bottled or canned. Dad got a nice fresh salad, chunks of feta and a chicken kabob and also enjoyed it. Overall, excellent healthy option downtown, a very nice cafe run by friendly people.

Yelp
This was hands done the most delicious Middle Eastern food I have ever had! The menu is marked well for vegans and/or vegetarians. The pita chips and potato salad were so good. They were both prepared differently than expected. The service was friendly and the food was just as expected. There is plenty of seating in the back for dining. There is also a smaller outdoor space for patio dining as well.

Yelp
Best food in Greensboro. The owners are fantastic and it is always a great experience.

Yelp
I've loved this place since college and always make sure I stop by when I'm in town. I stick to my falafel wrap with a side of home fries and it never disappoints. Service is always great and it feels like home every time I'm back.

Yelp
Excellent food sand extremely friendly service. Couldn't ask for more. My wife and I went here and she had the Vegetarian Sampler Platter. It was awesome. In particular the tabbouleh and the falafel were some of the best I have ever tasted. We also got the Feta dip, which was also great. The fresh pita chips with that were not nearly as good as the seasoned crispy ones that we had with our meals, but they give you the option for either one. I had the Turk wrap (with the home made hot sauce), and that was also amazing. Everything was extremely fresh, and the wrap was like a thin, slightly chewier crepe almost. It was so good. We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
This place has great food and feels very authentic. Don't be thrown by the lack of ambiance- they don't need it with food like this.

Yelp
One word for Jerusalem Market on Elm...Stupendous!! This place nailed it on all cylinders. The food was absolutely amazing. You can tell that everything was fresh and made with love. I overheard that this was a family owned business that uses traditional family recipes. I don't think you can go wrong with anything ordered. I ordered the shawerma platter...piles of beautifully cooked lamb and beef with...salad, falafel and a side of rice pilaf. The amount of food on this platter is plenty for two. I tackled on my own, and ended up having plenty of leftovers. The server at the front counter was a true gem. He made you feel welcome and was ready to answer any questions about the menu. I love the self seating. You can choose to sit in either of their dining rooms. They also have a self serve water station that has fresh water and to-go containers for your leftovers. Such a great experience!!!

Yelp
This place!! It's a market, it's a restaurant!! It's all things middle eastern food should be. The family owned business wins my best middle eastern food in the triad. Prepared fresh, so be patient while they make your meal, that I promise will be absolutely delicious. The ambiance and seating is tastefully done. The food is worth every penny you pay. Be sure to purchase something at the market!! Friendly, delicious, fresh!!

Yelp
Excellent!! Memorable food and experience. Definitely going back soon. For me it's a drive, but well worth it.

Yelp
Great service, delicious food, chill ambiance. My second time there from a few years back, since we downtown. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
My daughter and I went to Jerusalem Market before our play at Tanger Center, and we will definitely go back! I had the vegetarian sampler, and everything I sampled was delicious. It was so much that I couldn't eat it all, so I took home two falafel patties and the tzatziki with pita chips. My husband gobbled that down, so I didn't get much of it. (chuckle) I did get one of the falafels and satisfied myself that it was fabulous. Both the order-taker (owner? manager?) and the server were friendly, informed, and courteous. The ambiance was nice! It had a medium-sized dining room behind the kitchen. We were there early, so there were only three or four tables taken. It was nice and quiet for chatting. We liked it a lot!

Sonia J.

Yelp
Food is always delicious Service is awesome " Once in traffic downtown and I couldn't park. I asked to bring order out while in traffic and they were very happy to assist me." Very polite and restaurant friendly service and clean.

Yelp
A casual looking market in the middle of downtown on Elm, but in reality, a great place for Middle Eastern food in the city. I'd have to rank Jerusalem as the top 2 for Middle Eastern eats in Greensboro. The best, quality ingredients really make the dish, as well as the taste of soul that this family puts into their food. A large menu of great food - kabobs, whole plates, falafel, shawarma. Pita bread that comes with each plate and the pita crackers are pretty amazing. The hummus is some of the best, and meat is charred perfectly and still juicy. I highly recommend this GSO staple, the owners/family are as nice as can be and make sure you enjoyed their food. *don't get caught off guard by the look of size - there is a lot of indoor & outdoor seating towards the back, ad well as outdoor seating at the storefront

Yelp
Great authentic spot in downtown Greensboro. Honestly I don't know why I hadn't been here sooner. The food was super fresh and flavorful. The staff was nice and the parking options weren't as dreadful as I thought they would be. It's in the middle-ish of downtown so there is street parking but if you cannot find a spot there, there is a parking lot not far away!
google avatar

Jon A.

Yelp
I give this 5 stars for the food. The atmosphere isn't awesome. It isn't terrible either. But there was a strange smell between where you order and where the tables are. Other than that, the food was amazing. The shawarma was seasoned perfectly. It was juicy and tender. So good. And the Turk was phenomenal. Will go back for sure!
google avatar

Rena H.

Yelp
It's such a delight when we make it to Jerusalem Market for a meal. We eat inside sometimes, but lately our favorite thing to do has been ordering takeout and walking it down to Little Brother Brewing to eat. The service is always friendly and gracious. What a gem!
google avatar

Jamie J.

Yelp
Stopped by Jerusalem Market to grab a quick lunch and the service and speed was outstanding. I had the Falafel Plate and I loved every bit of it. The falafel was cooked perfectly and the pita chips were fresh and crunchy. It took less than 10 minutes to get my order. They have plenty of menus in all sizes making it easy to see what's available even during the lunch rush. Great little eatery downtown, I will definitely be back.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in for lunch yesterday, and couldn't have been more pleased. The food was AMAZING, and the service was as well. We will be back again!

Yelp
Omg Jerusalem Market on Elm is the real deal!! We each ordered the Lamb wrap and it was phenomenal!! The chunks of lamb were tender and juicy. The wrap itself was like an extremely thin tortilla, but better! It's evident that everything they make is made in house. This restaurant is our new go to Mediterranean restaurant!!

Yelp
Every time I visit my parents in Greensboro, a visit here is a must. Everything here is delicious, but I especially love the falafel wrap, hummus, and spinach pie. 10/10 recommend

Yelp
Pinnacle of culinary art. Down to earth welcoming establishment. Memorable moment not to be forgotten. I commend it to connoisseurs and the culinarily curious.

Yelp
I ordered the Armenian wrap for lunch. This is the best of its kind in Greensboro. They have patio seating too.
google avatar

Yelp
The best , if I'm craving Falafel sandwich it will be the best option for me, great atmosphere and delicious food and tempting aroma full the place with the delicious appetizers and the bread with Zatar is my favorite to dap in home made hummus.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
Nice owners who work there all the time it's open. Fine food compared to food in the Middle East. Nice, comfortable eating area as well as out door dining. Menu varies a bit. Excellent flavors. Food fresh and made there. I'd go back in a heartbeat

Yelp
This is absolutely the most delicious and fresh food!! It's always hits the spot ! A must try if you're in downtown Greensboro!

Yelp
Visiting from out of state and was looking for take out linner (late lunch/early dinner). I went to Jerusalem Market after not being greeted down the street at another establishment. I was immediately welcomed and greeted by Easa. I'm pescatarian and he kindly went over my food options and didn't rush me. I ended up getting the Jerusalem classic platter and hibiscus tea with a side of simple syrup. Everything was fresh and the falafel was one of the best I've had. It was a good size, outside was crispy, the inside was flavorful and moist. If you like a little kick, get the hot sauce. It was a game changer on my falafel. The tabouleh and hummus were both fresh and delicious. The service was A+, I definitely recommend this restaurant if you want fresh and friendly eats!

Gary G.

Yelp
Yuk. When we walked in I caught the faint scent of sewage. I passed it off just the scent of an old building. I was wrong. The place smelled like sewage. Bad. The food wasn't good. The sharama was really dry. My wife had a wrap which was just OK. They ask you to bus your own table. We had to scrape our plates into a garbage can. Then put the dirty dishes into a tub which was next to the garbage can. Not sure why his place got any good reviews.
google avatar

Sono S.

Yelp
Food hands down the best middleeastern in greensboro. The nicest people and the most attentive service. The hidden backyard seating is a gem!

Yelp
Yum! Such terrific food and friendly service the day I went. Three different seating areas gave us options for where we wanted to be which was nice.

Yelp
Nice spot in downtown Greensboro for some authentic Mediterranean food. We stopped in as part of a food crawl, but I do recommend ordering ahead. They're quite friendly, but our experience was slow. They do have some areas to sit and eat in, but it seems mostly setup for takeout. Flavor is what matters, and the flavor here was spot on! Falafel was on point in terms of texture and seasoning. This is a place I'd give 4.5 stars, and would be 5 if the speed was a bit quicker. Wait time seemed a bit excessive so be sure to factor that in and call ahead.
google avatar

Lace F.

Yelp
We were just next door to this spot trying out Cille and Scoe (which was very good and definitely worth trying) when I saw this place. I had heard good things and not being in Greensboro too often I figured why not just do the double feature and grab a sample from here too. We got the lamb kebab platter which worked great because my husband wanted to try the lamb and I wanted falafel and onion pie and with the platter you get to choose two mezze plates so that got us everything we wanted to try! The lamb was good, less gamey than I like it to be but apparently most people like it that way! The falafel and spinach pie were fantastic. The sumac flavor of the spinach pie was really special and unique and the falafel were perfectly done. Only issue was a dramatically long wait time for a single entree order. Highly recommend ordering ahead if you can.
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
WOW! I got the Chicken Kebab Wrap and it was truly amazing. We were downtown getting ready for an event and wanted to grab some lunch before we heading in. We decided to try out Jerusalem Market on Elm and WERE NOT disappointed. Everyone was super kind and the portions were huge. They even had their own in house made hot sauce that was delicious. It does take a little longer to get your food, but I feel that means they really are preparing everything for you right there on the spot. I would 100% stop back in when I am in Greensboro.

Yelp
Last month my brother picked out a great resturant. The co-owner Easa Hanhan and his wife gave wonderful customer service and delicious food. I hope they had a lovely Easter!

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on our way to Banner Elk. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. We ordered the Falafel wrap and Shish Kabob wrap and both were delicious. You can see what is included in each using the picture of the menu we posted. We also ordered the cashew fingers. They have a mildly sweet taste with the taste of the cashews. The restaurant is very clean. There is a small dining area in the front where you order but a larger dining area in the back. They also have an outside dining area in the front and back. If ever passing through here again, we would definitely like to stop in again.
google avatar

Shakeyla R.

Yelp
Absolutely love Jerusalem Market. The staff are so warm, welcoming, and inviting. They're happy to answer any questions about the menu, offer recommendations, and are just all around good people. The food is just as good! Fresh, well seasoned, and authentic. I recently got the falafel and hibiscus tea. The falafel was very flavorful and authentic-I absolutely loved it. The hibiscus tea is also a favorite and they offer it unsweetened and give you the option of adding a simple syrup to it to your tasting. There is ample indoor seating but I sat outside which was very cozy. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped by for a quick meal this afternoon and we're glad we did! The chicken kebab was flavorful and juicy, the fries were top notch and crispy, and the hummus was good. Service took a little time, but was worth the wait. We will be back!

Yelp
Great lunch change of pace for downtown workers, good service and you can only say that of about 10% of places nowadays

Yelp
Amazing. Go here. Wherever you thought of going, stop and just go here. Stop going to chains and over paying for mediocre food and service by teens who don't care and support your local shops . Service. Great ! Friendly ! Quick, helpful as well. It is different and fresh delicious food. The atmosphere is like being in beautiful NYC. Portions are great, price is cheap , your NOT Nickeled and dimes here at all. They have a great selection of bakery and imported goods as well on the market side. Place is clean, will be back over and over again. I wish places like this was in Charlotte. But Charlotte is ghetto and fake with over priced rip off places. So the hour and 30 minute drive is well worth the charming atmosphere and awesome food.

Yelp
The best dolmades and lamb gyros in Greensboro! You won't be disappointed, and I love supporting local small business!
