12 Best Rooftops and Restaurants for Outdoor Dining in Asheville | Eater Carolinas

"Arguably the top-rated lobster roll in Asheville can be found at Jettie Rae’s, thanks to its impossibly fresh seafood and the expertise of East Coaster chef Will Cisa. The Charleston native also makes a mean cheeseburger, a surprising standout on a menu of classic seafood dishes including fish and chips, oysters, and po’ boys. Its casual, laid-back vibe is an ideal setting for enjoying its caviar service featuring white sturgeon or Siberian caviar, traditional accompaniments, and potato chips. Special occasions warrant a grande seafood tower with an entire whole chilled lobster, 12 oysters, five poached shrimp, four clams, ceviche, and trout dip — and every visit should include a piece of its outstanding key lime pie. Sit on the patio for an al fresco feast." - Brook Bolen

The 18 Essential Restaurants in Asheville, North Carolina

"Simple, artful preparation from Charleston native Will Cisa lets the innate flavors of fresh Carolinas and East Coast seafood shine at Jettie Rae’s, just north of downtown. The menu kicks off with an extensive raw bar, daily ceviche selections, and caviar service — and from there moves into entrees with influences ranging from Spain to Maine to the South Carolina Lowcountry. Customers should try octopus a la planxa, oysters bienville, or Gullah-inspired crab rice — or skip the seafood altogether and go for a steak or the legit double cheeseburger. While waiting for a table, indulge in an oyster shooter or cocktail and a few snacks at the Pearl, a tiny vintage Airstream trailer-turned-bar that serves the restaurant’s covered outdoor patio area." - Gina Smith

We had an excellent dining experience from beginning to end at Jettie Rae’s. Food, service and the casual atmosphere were perfect. Dan, our server, expertly guided us through the menu with detailed descriptions of the preparation and ingredients of several menu items we asked about. It was our anniversary dinner and we were delighted with an appetizer of delicious oysters Bienville (like oysters Rockefeller, but with a fresh twist), and main courses of pan seared grouper on a bed of peas (which were more like black-eyed peas), peppers & olives and pan seared cobia (a delicious white fish) on labneh (creamy yogurt), golden beets and crunchy pea pods. We ended things with butter pecan ice cream topped with macerated peaches and shortbread crumbles. Perfection. A five star evening for us!

We decided to celebrate my birthday with a nice dinner at Jettie. I made reservations online but arrived an hour earlier and was sitting right away. They sat us in the covered patio area. The temperature was just right to enjoy a meal. We started with the Oysters Bienville, and the juice from the ingredients ehance a overall taste from the oysters. For my entree, I had the Rock Shrimp Spaghetti. The noodles were delicious and made fresh. You could capture the taste in each bite. My favorite new spaghetti yummy. I was able to request a drink, not on the menu long island tea cocktail. Oh, yea, the bread was freshly baked, too. They do have free parking, which is a plus.

We’ve been driving by this place for years when we go to the Omni and it always looked packed with people and live music so we had to give it a try this trip. The oysters did not disappoint! We enjoyed the flounder entree, El Sol Journey cocktail and especially the key lime pie dessert. Heather was a great waitress who offered suggestions and helpful insight to the menu.

Google
Tried this place for the first time during a weekend trip to Asheville. The good: Nice venue, easy parking, decent service, flavorful food and nice vibe. The bad: Small portion sizes (overall), very overpriced, and some of the food was overcooked. We had 2 apps the baked oysters and prawns. Both were delicious but you got 2 prawns for $20. The side of cauliflower was $14 and was barely enough for 2 people. The special whole fish red snapper was delicious. My duck dish was a little overcooked and pricey for what you got. Overall I’d only go back for the oysters cause just wasn’t worth the money.

Google
I've been to a lot of great restaurants in Asheville. Tonight was the first time trying Jettie Rae's and I would say it's in now in my top 3 restaurants in the area. We came in a little earlier than our reservation. They super friendly host was able to accommodate us. The vibe was casual but also refined. We sat at the bar. The bartenders were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The food came out right in time. We both had the flounder special and it was the best flounder I've ever had. The grits, spinach, and croutons all worked perfectly together. The 3 cocktails we got were also phenomenal. We capped it off with butter pecan ice cream. It was a perfect mixture of savory and sweet. Finally. We got the bill. Great experience and great food at a very reasonable price. 10/10 would recommend

Google
One of our favorite local seafood places!! Perfect date night. Their cocktails are phenomenal and they have an excellent beer and wine list. The oyster shooters are must! We've never had anything bad on the menu. Their oysters are to die for and their rotating menu items are incredible. The staff is also amazing!!

Google
Fabulous seafood! We had the Colossal Shrimp appetizer while our friends had two different kinds of raw oysters. The sauce for the shrimp was so flavorful! We also had the Red Drum fish and Tilefish entrees... they came out in good time and were piping hot and delicious! Our server, Lauren, was attentive without being intrusive. Perfect!

Google
The ambiance was very chill and simply stunning! The Oysters Bienville were absolutely perfect! Reminds me of a good Cajun Chargrilled Oysters. The shrimp cocktail was.like no other- huge and seasoned! Not just plain poached shrimp with cocktail sauce- yummmmm! She Crab soup was good. I'm used to it with a little more cream so it was different but very good! Striped Bass was huge and plenty to share. Not overcooked so it was flaky amd full of flavor. Crb cakes were FULL of crab Not fillers. So good almost didn't want to swallow the bite! Partnered with the charred cabbage made the perfect bite. Sure glad our waitor recommended the homemade butter pecan ice cream with apples and the most fabulous cookie. Already planning a trip to come back! Don't hesitate. GOOO!

Yelp
This is one of our regular spots as Asheville locals. In fact, we pretty much come every Wednesday we love it so much! Mitch and Melvin are tremendous bartenders and everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They have a regular rotation of in season oysters and the wine list is impressive, yet affordable. Get the rose and fish and chips if you are new. We also sit at the bar, if available as the ambiance is great and you can watch the kitchen work. This is a top 5 Asheville restaurant for my wife and I.

Yelp
I had written an earlier review where I thought we were charged for the oyster tray - the management was very responsive when I reached out and the mistake was on our end. On that note let me tell you that this is the place to get great, cold water oysters served the right way. The oyster po boy was perfectly cooked and used the same type of oysters they we were served raw. The service was excellent and friendly.

Yelp
Jettie Rae's is my favorite restaurant in Asheville. Cozy vibe, friendly service, and outstanding food. I've never had a dish I didn't like there, but the standouts are the fried clams, shrimp cocktail, and crab cakes. The chow chow relish they're currently serving with the crab cakes is outstanding!
google avatar

Yelp
We had a wonderful time visiting Jettie Rae's! The service was great. It didn't feel rushed but she was incredibly attentive. I was so excited to see Woodman's clams from Essex and had to get them. They still tasted like the ocean- delicious! We had the striped bass, which was cooked perfectly, the skin was nice and crispy. The peas and carrots were great editions. We also had the scallops, which were cooked great!

Yelp
Small, light and airy, maybe Asheville's best seafood! Start to finish, an excellent meal, Jumbo shrimp cocktail, Smoked Trout dip with crostini, and Oysters Bienville. Service was a little inattentive, but with class, changing plates for courses. The Sancerre was well chilled, from a diverse wine list dominated by French wines.

Yelp
The service was excellent love the cool vibe. First time here and I would definitely return. I tried all of the four fresh oysters. Amazing and so fresh. The bread service was absolutely delicious. The clam strips were excellent and my husband and I split the golden beet salad. He ordered the fish and chips and roasted oysters. Highly recommend and make reservations!

Yelp
Awesome dining experience as before. The bread.....Mother's AVL bread made with sorghum and pink peppercorns served with butter and sea salt, Island Creek petite oysters, Fried Clam Strips, a pomelo salad, Parmesan fries, and a single crab cake...nothing could better with this dinner. Service from Jacqueline was superior. Food was outstanding and those tiny little oysters at $4.59 a piece were worth every little taste. Atmosphere is awesome. Food is outstanding. Recommend booking reservation well in advance. Will definitely return.

Anna M.

Yelp
Visited here while in town and attempted to change our reservation from 4 to 6, and was told it was impossible because it was an outside reservation and there was no room. Although the outside seating area only had two tables occupied. Attached a photo of the outside seating area which is absolutely ridiculous. 0/10 would not recommend.

Yelp
Wonderful seafood spot in Asheville. Made reservations on Resy day of. I would however book in advance to have more of a time selection. Started off dinner with a variety of oysters. Ordered two kinds from North Carolina and one from Canada. They were fantastic. They were prepared wonderfully, where we didn't need to scoop them out. We also ordered the tuna off the specials, mussels and crab + ricotta spread. I had ordered crab rice for my main meal and loved it. My fiancé ordered stripped bass and enjoyed it as well. Staff was friendly and food was great.

Yelp
If you're in AVL, Jettie Rae's is a MUST!! The food, the atmosphere and most of all the amazing humans that provide exceptional service and treat us like family. Incredible oysters and presentation of every plate. The drinks are always on point thanks to Mitch and his awesome bar staff! Thank you JRs for being the jewel is Asheville.

Yelp
WOW! This might be one of my new favorite restaurants in Asheville. Service: Everyone here was so friendly. We had to move our reservation to a different time, and the staff were very accommodating about it. We immediately felt warmly welcomed when we stepped inside. Our server was attentive but let us order at our own pace. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some great suggestions! Food: To start, we had the trout dip and a half dozen oysters. The trout dip was phenomenal and the oysters were fresh and delicious. For our mains, I had the fish and chips and my husband had the gumbo. No complaints here! I also tried their drink special, which was a beet cocktail - very unique and so tasty! Ambiance - we sat in the heated covered patio section, which was super cozy. The inside and bar area looked really trendy too. I definitely want to come back in the summer time and sit outside! Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Jettie Rae's, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
I'm starting with the great service that we received from the welcome at the door to our waiter, Dan. We were worried because we arrived near closing time but we were not rushed and actually quite the opposite. Dan was very knowledgeable about the menu and the way items are prepared and even where they originate from, especially from local sources. Mother's AVL bread was delicious, well made craft cocktails and a must have appetizer is Oysters Bienville. If raw oysters are your preference they have many varieties that you may mix or match by the piece. Even oyster shooters available. There were 3 of us, we tried the Oyster Po Boy, the Fish & Chips and a special Tile Fish dinner. The seafood was fresh and flavorful. The special came with a corn and gnocchi side that was amazing. Portions are good. Unfortunately we were too full to try any of the desserts that sounded mouthwatering as he described them. The covered patio in the front looks so relaxed and inviting. We sat inside for dinner. It's a nice vibe and has a large bar if you just want drinks and oysters...why not?! We don't live in NC but will definitely visit again when in the area. And would like to see Dan again...did I say how outstanding he was? I can't say it enough, very nice and very attentive.

Yelp
I'm am almost 60 years old and I just had the BEST burger in my life. 7 for dinner. We ordered everything on the menu plus some. From the burger to the seafood tower.... They were spot on! Warning, Thai could be a long review. The burger was like a double cheese mad burger with absolutely NO grease!!! AND.... It was cooked perfectly ( medium rare) AND came out H. O. T. HOT and stayed warm to the last nite. The flavor profile was melt in your mouth goodness. The Fries. AGAIN. they were pure heaven. They take 3 days prepping their hand cut fries My sister and niece had the po boys. They ship the bread in from New Orleans. I am a seafood SNOB. Grew up on the beach and the river of Nee Smyrna Beach. I refuse to eat shrimp from a restaurant because they are always minimally flash frozen and I can taste that chemical a mile away. Can I just say the shrimp was a delightful surprise!!!! The oysters were fresh, clean, cold and they had your briny or milky profile of oysters. I naturally ate the briny oysters and they were SO good My mezcal old fashion was a special treat. The homemade deserts exceeded our expectations. I live in florida and already planning a quick trip back for a few days just to have another meal there again soon.

Yelp
Seafood in the mountains, who knew? Jettie Rae's has always been a favorite of ours ever since they opened a few years ago. From their octopus which is always tender and flavorful to their daily specials which are eclectic and fun everything is delicious. We started off with Paloma's which are smoky and salty in the best way and really refreshing with seafood. We also opted for their daily app special which was lightly dressed blue fin tuna mixed with olives and buttery grilled crostini - YUM. For our entrees we got the shrimp po boy which was loaded with shrimp. It was lightly breaded and dressed so you could taste the sweet shrimp and deliciously light bread. We also got the crab cakes which had a ton of sweet crab flavor and came with grilled leeks and corn salsa. This entree was extremely light. Our favorite dish was the special which was a flounder and grits. The grits were soaked in milk over night so they were extremely thick and creamy in the best way. Already planning our next trip!

Yelp
From beginning to end it was delicious. Highly recommend out of all the places in North Carolina. Ask for Joseph, my waiter. Say I sent you from NYC.

Yelp
A Hidden Gem in Downtown Asheville! If you're in Asheville and craving top-notch seafood, this place is a must-visit! the best seafood I've ever had period! The fish and chips were simply out of this world!crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. Paired with perfectly cooked fries and a tangy tartar sauce, it was a meal to remember. The freshness of the fish was evident with every bite, making it clear that this restaurant takes great pride in sourcing the finest ingredients. Beyond the food, the service was exceptional. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this is a spot you don't want to miss. I'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Great food but who can spend 20$ on a salad 30-40$$ on fish and chips after a disaster Hope you guys all do well under these hard times but maybe have a local special that normal working people can afford

Yelp
Visited Asheville and stayed downtown. Willing to walk a mile for a restaurant with good reviews. So Jettie Rae's it was. Ambiance feels a bit like a roadside shack, but that's as advertised. Server was knowledgeable and professional if a little chilly; gave lovely recommendations in cocktails and wines by the glass nonetheless. Tough to get a prime time reservation on short notice, so we took an early one. Note that they require a $25 per person reservation guarantee fee. Understandable in a touristy area and tough economy. Menu was interesting if surprisingly short; only five or so mains, and then a few sandwiches. We went with a special appetizer - tuna crudo - and a crab/ricotta/tomato bruschetta. Both lovely but not necessarily special. We split a scallop entree off the menu that was equally good but not special. In summary, a perfectly good meal, premium priced, ... but not sure why it's consistently among the highest rated in Asheville. Not bad by any means...but not special.

Yelp
Fresh seafood in the mountains? That's hard to come by - but Jettie Rae's really is out here doing the most. My husband and I made reservations for this cute little oyster house about two weeks in advance - and were glad we had a table booked, because this place was poppin' on a Thursday night! We had the pleasure of sitting on the covered patio, which was adorned with some fun, ocean-themed decor (including driftwood light fixtures!) We sampled our way through quite a bit of their menu, starting with two of each of their oysters and a bottle of wine. We asked our waitress for a wine recommendation, and she said their wine offerings are specially selected to accompany seafood, so there's not a bad option! Sadly I can't remember the name of the bottle we selected, but it was a perfect pairing for our entire meal. Our oysters came out quickly - and were presented to us by the shucker himself! He recommended starting with the least briny of the bunch and then working our way up to the most. Oysters are one of our favorite ways to kick off a meal - and these were some of the freshest we've had in a long time. We especially liked the NC oysters, and the fact that we were supporting local fisherman. As for the rest of our meal, we shared the Peel & Eat Shrimp, Mussels 'Nduja, Bread Service, and Francina's Crab Cakes. The mussels were our most memorable bite of the night - served with crispy bread and bathed in a meaty tomato sauce to die for. This bread was different than the one included with the Bread Service appetizer, and we found we preferred it between the two. The shrimp were fresh and bright - and it's always fun to add an interactive element to your meal. The crab cakes were also tasty - not the best we've ever had, but a solid option if you're craving crab. We also had to try what other Yelpers dubbed "the best Key Lime Pie North of Key West." I can confirm that this description is accurate - and well worth saving room for dessert. Whether you're traveling or an Asheville local, don't miss out on Jettie Rae's!

Yelp
Great service, fantastic oysters and excellent cocktails! I've never had a bad experience.

Mimi T.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in town, where my family goes as a special treat. We had a great time last Saturday. Jess took great care of us, and the clam strips and raw oysters and crab rice were outstanding as always! Loved the Ramble On Rose cocktail. And Keylime pie, the perfect finishing touch!

Charles W.

Yelp
I've eaten oysters all over the world. These did not disappoint. I grew up in this neighborhood. This was an old 76 gas station when I was a kid. It's now an amazing experience that did not let me down. If you're craving the most excellent service and phenomenal food, just go now. Don't wait. It makes me so proud to see success in my old home. Thank you!

Yelp
Exceptional cuisine, terrific funky vibe, superb service, and reasonable prices. The atmosphere was lively and friendly, seems to be a local hotspot in Ashville.

Yelp
All in all, I'd say Jettie Rae's has become my favorite restaurant in Asheville. We had dinner there again last night, and I think this was our best meal there ever. I started with a gin martini, which was ice cold and just right. The oysters on the half shell, while pricey, were fresh and beautifully presented with the excellent mignonette sauce and the New Orleans-style seafood cocktail fixings of ketchup, horseradish and Crystal hot sauce. The fried clam strips, $11 as an appetizer, are the best I've ever found south of Boston (and these clams do come from Massachusetts.) Glory be! Jettie Rae's has brought back the fried oyster poboy (though the price, $21, is higher than it used be.) This is the best poboy I've had outside New Orleans, with very fresh Leidenheimer's bread and well dressed with mayo, lettuce and tomato. The shrimp poboy ($16) is also excellent. Dinner for two with tip, kitchen fee and tax was around $125, and well worth every penny.
google avatar

Joanne T.

Yelp
Great restaurant and fantastic service. We sat at the bar, and the bartender, Mitchell, was great. We had the oysters, muscles, octopus, salad, and snapper with old fashion and dirty martini. Everything was fantastic. I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Joe L.

Yelp
Was looking for seafood and found Jettie...nice little neighborhood place. My server Heather was great and took my order for oysters, a beer. I decided to try the Ciabatta Bread with Black Anchovies and for dinner I ordered the fish & chips. Love being able to try oysters from different harvest areas from the mild Beau Soliel to the extremely salty Ichabod. The Ciabatta Bread was good but I would pass on the Black Anchovies...not a fan of the texture or the high salt flavor. The fish was very good, thick and flaky but the fries were heavily salted and I asked Heather to replace them. Overall a good meal and great service.

Yelp
Visited Jettie Rae's on a Sunday night. We were seated in the front which can be converted to a outside space but it was very comfortable and warm. Ed was our server and was very attentive and gave great suggestions. Had the crab, ricotta, squash, toast 4.5/5. The oysters were delicious 5/5. We also had the crab cakes 5/5, crab rice 5/5 and the house-made ginger beer. The key lime pie was also very good. Would definitely recommend if you looking for really good seafood!

Yelp
The experience was the best! From the friendly staff, the decor, the pace, and total ambiance. Our server Ira was a total expert on the offerings and connected with each of us. The menu is concise, and mixed classic Southern dishes with a bit of New England for variety. Each item was carefully presented, gorgeous to look at and magic to taste. Oysters were clean shells, super fresh scent and delivered by the chef, each variety labelled and curated by him. My Gullah crab and rice was pure memory of the islands. The Boston clam strips were also perfect. Cocktails and beers crafted and presented as little works of art. Yeah, I'll be back!

Jamie M.

Yelp
The service and the oysters were outstanding. The Black Sea bass was only so so. Too heavily spiced on one side too many peppers as the side. Needed something else mixed in. The covered patio was fun, but the chairs were a bit uncomfortable. I would come back for the service and the oysters. Overall 3.5 stars.

Yelp
The food is great, but I was dining alone and noticed that the server treated me very differently than couples and families. Wow! I didn't expect that! I was kind, courteous, respectful, and was.given very abrupt service by the waiter who fawned all over the family and couple next to me.
google avatar

Alex E.

Yelp
This place is GOOD, but not GREAT. Let's break it down, yeah? The good: -the service! Our waiter was attentive, and did a great job helping me choose a glass of wine that would fit with my dinner. -the serving sizes. I loved that there was just the right amount of food served with the entrees. Not too much, not too little. -the freshness. The seafood was very fresh tasting; it clearly hadn't been sitting around the freezer. The okay -the food itself. There were 4 of us dining together, and between the 4 of us we tried the: -blackened redfish (which was a bit overcooked, but came on delicious greens+farro), -the lobster+shrimp roll (probably one of the highlights - idk why people are complaining about it being small! It was loaded with lobster!), -the crab rice (which was cooked well, but a little on the bland side; needed an extra kick of spice), - the peel and eat shrimp (which were cooked well and very fresh, but similarly kinda bland. Not too much extra flavor going on here), -the cod fritters (surprisingly light and yummy; not greasy at all), -the blue cheese chips (my favorite probably of the entire meal- super delicious), -and a couple of oysters. The bad: -I actually don't have anything especially negative to say about jettie raes. Everything was fine. In recap: -The food was fresh, but not mind-blowing amazing. I've had better seafood in other restaurants in AVL, for a smaller pricetag. It was GOOD, not GREAT. Maybe a 6 or 7/10? Would I return? Eh, if my husband was craving oysters, or maybe if we wanted a lobster roll. But for the price (and honestly, how hard it is to get a reservation....) - I would likely choose elsewhere for my seafood cravings.

Yelp
We were really excited to try this place out while staying in Asheville. We came in at around 7:45 on a Wednesday night. The atmosphere was quiet and well decorated. I really enjoyed the color scheme and the low key dark decor. Our waitress was extremely polite and friendly. While leaving we forgot something and she came running out to bring it to us! (Thank you!!) We started with the raw clams and oysters. I had the submarine oysters and they may have been the best oysters I have had ever. They were extremely fresh and crisp. They were expensive but I would get them again even at that price point. We also shared the the oysters bienville. My boyfriend really enjoyed them and wanted to get some more. We shared the special kamapachi ceviche which was fresh but not something I would get again. Lastly we shared the low country shrimp and grits. This meal is not the first thing I would go for but it was extremely tasty here and I would get this again. Overall we enjoyed our experience here but I would recommend getting your own entree if you are feeling pretty hungry.

Yelp
I'm from Louisiana. Lived in NOLA, grew up in Cajun Country. So good to have some REAL fresh Southern seafood at last

Yelp
A month later and we are still talking about our experience. It was exceptional. In town for work, we visited for our last night and immediately wished we had placed it earlier in the trip so we had the opportunity to repeat. It feels like we ordered the entire menu. Oyster shooters. Shrimp Po Boys, Golden Tile, Oysters Bienville, Mussels, and so much more. I'm sorry that I can't find our server's name because he was attentive, friendly, and super knowledgeable. We trusted him implicitly. And he didn't rush us. Beyond charming without being intrusive. We will definitely return. I cannot recommend any stronger.

Kate H.

Yelp
I love this place! We have not had a bad meal here. Great service, phenomenal oysters, very tasty seafood options and cocktails, with a good wine menu, too!
google avatar

Yelp
With Charleston, NY, and Louisiana roots this dining experience is sure to not disappoint. The quality of food and service here is top notch. From the mouth watering Spanish octopus, the Carolina gold lump crab rice, to the fisherman's stew you just don't want the flavors to end! Bravo Jetti Rae!!!!! An assortment of seafood but po boys and a double cheeseburger appear on the menu as well and I have to try it next!!! Oh the key lime pie didn't make the picture because it was eaten so quickly! Does that say anything? Oh and wait I forgot to mention the Gambino Bakery bread!!!! Ugh stop it some more!!!!!!

Lyn H.

Yelp
5 Star Seafood and Service As always, the food was delicious and the wine was perfect. The conversation was so enjoyable we stayed for dessert and that was over the top, each more decadent than the last. But what truly made this dinner experience exceptional was our attentive and personable server, HEATHER. From opening the wine to tempting us to try the baked/grilled oysters and treating us to a dessert so we could sample ALL that was offered, it was a dinner to remember! As recent locals we always go to Jettie Rae's when seafood is what we're craving. From now on, we'll be asking for Heather to be sure every aspect of the evening is five star!

Kimber S.

Yelp
Amazing fresh seafood! Love sitting outside! The staff is so friendly and attentive! Love going to Jettie Rae's!

Yelp
I liked this place. Started with Canadian oysters, then had the fish & chips for main. The oysters were average, but the fish & chips was definitely above a average. A nice portion, flaky and cooked to perfection. However, the reason I am rating this place three stars is because they charge you separately for condiments for your oysters, which is typically included. In addition, apparently they add gratuity for the kitchen staff. It's unfortunate that restaurants feel it's the customer's responsibility to supplement their worker's wages.

Yelp
This is a must-try restaurant. I joined my partner on a work trip to Asheville and did the prerequisite where to eat search before we arrived - Jettie Rae's made many lists. On a whim we walked in on the day we landed. It was so good, we made a reservation for a later date on our way out the door - we're only here for 6 days. The staff was welcoming and attentive while also letting you do your thing and enjoy uninterrupted. We had a round of oysters both days as neither date had the same options. Over the two meals we did the panzanella tile special, the misto, the bienville oysters, the sea bass, and the crab rice twice - it's that good. Nothing was a miss, including the desserts. We do not lack for food options in NYC but I'll be thinking of this place regularly.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place. But they were deceptive and it didn't sit well. They brought us Blue Cheese Chips, courtesy of the chef. Nice! Except the bill had the $8 charge for them. Oversight? How is that even possible and when I asked the waitress I barely was able to say it before she said "I'll take care of that". This sort of scummy move doesn't sit well. I happily paid $4.50/oyster and they tried to steal a whopping $8. Not sure whose idea it is to do this on a $200 tab for two people, but it was clearly on purpose. Also, they were out of just about everything, they said "it's Sunday and we are closed Monday". Whelp, maybe you should close Sunday if you can't buy food for Sunday, who cares about Monday! Leftover food is good for soups. I won't be back, even if the food was good and reminder, check your bill, this isn't the first time added charges appeared at a restaurant and won't be the last.

Yelp
Saturday, March 3rd, 2024, My friends and I reserved a table for dinner at the Charlotte Street location. Not only was our food suburb, but our server Ed, was the best server. He's engaging, happy and seems to really enjoy what he does. And, he does it well! We will return to Jettie Rae's and when we do I hope Ed is still around. He made our evening even more delightful. Thank you Ed, Benjamin, George and Rita

Yelp
Jettie Rae's is a very popular Asheville seafood restaurant. I can see why. Service is good. The place has a nice summer vibe with plenty of outdoor seating. We ordered oysters bienville: baked with shrimp, pecorino and mushrooms. Very good. Fried clam strips, can't go wrong with that. Clam chowder, that was very disappointing. It had almost no clams. Lobster roll: very good. Crab cakes: two thin patties with a side of shishito peppers for 22.00 it was just ok. Not a satisfying entree size. Brussels sprouts were good. Chips with blue cheese sauce were just ok. I would go back and try other things. The experience was overall good.

Yelp
Here for a girls weekend to celebrate our girls birthday and happened upon Jettie's because it's close to our Airbnb. First, service was excellent. Staff was super friendly and they run that restaurant like a well oiled machine. They were on top of everything and we never had to wait for our drinks to be replenished. Second, we ordered several things off the menu and ALL of them were so flavorful it felt like a symphony playing in my mouth. Wish I would've taken pics but I forgot. Do remember getting each oyster they had, oyster bienville, octopus A la planxa, crab cakes, lobster & shrimp roll and the Brussels sprouts. Great job to all the staff!

Yelp
Immediately seated with reservations. We chose the NC Golden Tile fish and it was by far the best I have ever had. Our waiter Ed, was at the top of his game. Even with a full house, you could have a conversation and enjoy the experience. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Love this spot! We enjoyed a wonderful selection of oysters and split the lobster roll and shrimp. The wine was perfectly paired and everything was well priced. Can't wait to return when we head back to Asheville!
