Yelp
This place is GOOD, but not GREAT. Let's break it down, yeah?
The good:
-the service! Our waiter was attentive, and did a great job helping me choose a glass of wine that would fit with my dinner.
-the serving sizes. I loved that there was just the right amount of food served with the entrees. Not too much, not too little.
-the freshness. The seafood was very fresh tasting; it clearly hadn't been sitting around the freezer.
The okay
-the food itself. There were 4 of us dining together, and between the 4 of us we tried the:
-blackened redfish (which was a bit overcooked, but came on delicious greens+farro),
-the lobster+shrimp roll (probably one of the highlights - idk why people are complaining about it being small! It was loaded with lobster!),
-the crab rice (which was cooked well, but a little on the bland side; needed an extra kick of spice),
- the peel and eat shrimp (which were cooked well and very fresh, but similarly kinda bland. Not too much extra flavor going on here),
-the cod fritters (surprisingly light and yummy; not greasy at all),
-the blue cheese chips (my favorite probably of the entire meal- super delicious),
-and a couple of oysters.
The bad:
-I actually don't have anything especially negative to say about jettie raes. Everything was fine.
In recap:
-The food was fresh, but not mind-blowing amazing. I've had better seafood in other restaurants in AVL, for a smaller pricetag. It was GOOD, not GREAT. Maybe a 6 or 7/10? Would I return? Eh, if my husband was craving oysters, or maybe if we wanted a lobster roll. But for the price (and honestly, how hard it is to get a reservation....) - I would likely choose elsewhere for my seafood cravings.
