Jetties! There's one of these on Foxhall road, and I'm so happy they have one on campus now. Here's the scoop:
Jetties gets busy, and there is minimal seating. You'd think that it's just the GW obnoxious student crowd, but it's not. I had the MD crab soup, which is good but a bit over-spiced.
I have also tried the Quidnet, which has mortadella, salami, ham, provolone on soft hoagie roll with shredded lettuce, tomato, sweet peppers, thin red onions and special vinaigrette. Served hot. Now they throw the "special" vinaigrette all over the sammich, so it's kind of overpowering; overall though, not bad.
I have had the Pocomo, which had roasted portobello mushrooms, caramelized butternut squash and herbed goat cheese spread on toasted multigrain. This was DELICIOUS. My only complaint is that the squash was hot, but the portobello mushrooms were not. This created a temperature conflict which confused my tastebuds. Warn up those darn portobellos, and you have one helluva sammie.
At one point, I ordered the Muskeget, which has Jetties greens and romaine lettuce, carved turkey, cilantro, mandarin orange, scallions, peanuts, shaved carrots, and crunchy noodles tossed with peanut honey dressing. Great salad!
Today, I tried the Rotary, which was roast beef with homemade sauce and cole slaw. To be honest, it was very good. I highly enjoyed this.
In all, Jetties has a good selection of sandwiches and salads. It is fresh, the wait is minimal, and I'm looking forward to the weather getting warmer so we can utilize the outdoor seating.
