The Best Indian Restaurants In DC - Washington DC - The Infatuation

"Housed in an inconspicuous Silver Spring strip mall near a Starbucks and thrift store, Jewel of India is worth the outside-the-District detour. We start every meal with the mouth-watering mulligatawny soup and crisped-to-perfection garlic naan. Once you get to the entrées, the tandoori options are strong contenders. We favor the lamb chops, drenched in freshly ground spices that make your nostrils dance with glee. And the dal makhani here is one of our favorites anywhere in the DMV because the lentil-to-bean ratio has been brilliantly fine-tuned." - mekita rivas, tristiana hinton, madeline weinfield

The food was literally delicious! The atmosphere was beautiful! The service was legendary! A meal and experience I will always remember and will forever be grateful for!! UPDATE: After my family visit I decided to ded to see up a corporate lunch for some executives from out of town. On short notice Rahul arranged everything for our group of 15 and really impressed my guest with Royal treatment. Everyone loved the food and were blown away by the service of the team led by Joseph that day! In me you guys have a customer for life!

For its location it definitely felt more on the fancy end. Their calamari was soooo good. I ordered their lunch special chicken vindaloo and it was very spicy and delicious. Their curry chick peas was amazing. The service was amazing!! They were sweet and attentive never let my glass of water get half full. Definitely recommend.

Google
the food is great and there's a wide selection for everyone. get the chicken shahi korma! and there's bottomless rice (but not the garlic naan). only caveat is: don't get the kulfi for dessert! see the last pic, but just get it from a convenience store and try something else instead. attentive and friendly service. nice atmosphere, the lighting is dim (dimmer than the pics!) for an intimate dinner. has a bar as well.

Our cricket team visited Jewel of India in Silver Spring after our game, and we had an amazing experience! From the moment we arrived, Mr. Rahul made us feel like VIPs. He was extremely attentive, ensuring we were comfortable and had everything we needed throughout our meal. The service was quick, and the food was absolutely delicious — every dish was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. It was the perfect spot to relax and celebrate after our match. Highly recommend this place for great food, excellent service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

Recently Jewel of India had catered their amazing and delicious food at the Main Street Ballroom in Ellicott City. Their Service was great! They had served their dishes hot and ensured there was enough for Everyone!

We had a wonderful experience with the catering staff at Jewel of India. They have a lot of experience with large events and the staff went above and beyond to make sure our event went smoothly. The food was delicious and the buffets were well stocked throughout the event. The catering manager, Elizabeth, was very responsive and easy to work with. A big thank you to the catering team for all the hard work they put into making our event so special.

Yelp
INTRODUCTION: Continuing my photo series representing March is Jewel of India. So, fun fact my girlfriend likes me reading my Yelp reviews. She really enjoys Yelp stories I tell. She said after our Saturday, March 16 visit here, I can't wait until you get around to Jewel of India & that story, well now getting around to this review in late August 2024! Although she might not hear my Jewel of India review until 2025 as I've been reading them chronologically & only up to January 2019. BACKGROUND TO MARCH 16 & WHY WE ENDED UP AT JEWEL OF INDIA FOR DINNER: Earlier that day, we met up with group of friends at Wharf in DC for St. Patty's weekend event. One of our friends (certainly not a close friend to either of us) is known for inviting herself or just showing up to stuff she wasn't invited to but sees or hears about. She invited us to look at these cool cherry blossoms up by E St. Her boyfriend or her drove there, while my g/f & I took Metro. We were considering going with them but didn't care that much about cherry blossoms, which we saw some in the Wharf area & have seen cherry blossoms on the Tidal Basin before & in MD. Plus, it would've been inconvenient to have to walk to some other Metro that wouldn't've been Green line back to Greenbelt where I was parked. As we were walking to L'Enfant Metro, she calls my g/f to see what we were doing for dinner & in general. My g/f was too nice giving too much info & probably shouldn't answered call & let alone talked for over 10 minutes. Frankly, we hadn't fully decided what we were doing for dinner, but we wanted to get out of DC back to MD for dinner plus we had something else going on after dinner in MD too. While on Metro, my g/f & I discussed various dinner options. Meanwhile, this friend is texting with my g/f to find out more info. I said let's try Jewel of India in Hillandale. It's only 9 minutes from Greenbelt Metro once we get to my car, & this place has excellent reviews on Yelp. Now, we both assumed we were going to a place far enough away from downtown DC area, she lives somewhere in DC I think, & her boyfriend lives way down in Woodbridge, VA. So, I thought for sure she would say Hillandale is too far out of the way, but she said she will see us there. We were already near College Park on Metro at this point, & we were like she's going to be so far behind timewise. It'll take at least 45 minutes for her to trek to Jewel of India. We said she is derailing what was supposed to be a nice relaxing dinner for just two of us. Worse, we left train at Greenbelt & fare gate, & I realized my Washington Capitals hat was gone. It must've fallen off somewhere on Metro without me realizing because I had it while waiting at L'Enfant. I told Metro attendant, he let me back in & ran up there. I tried to look in train car still there, but didn't see. I got info for Lost & Found. I was very upset losing this hat as my girlfriend got it for me as I had lost the Caps hat I had just 2 weeks earlier. The Metro Lost & Found never found it. The good news is that other hat I lost in early March I found in a weird corner in my car later. RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE & UNPLANNED DOUBLE DATE: Despondent with her inviting herself to what we was supposed to be our nice peaceful dinner & worse losing hat, we finally arrived. It had a beautiful entry with a bar area on left. It was fancy looking with nice tables/chairs & comfortable lighting. I told host it'd be 4, but the other 2 might be a lot later. We were seated. Server was very nice & attentive getting us water, seeing if we wanted anything else, & how everything was. We were content with splitting appetizer & entree as I had lost my appetite somewhat due to how I was feeling night had been going. I know server would've gotten our food orders sooner, but because we were waiting on them, that delayed our eating. Thankfully, we weren't that hungry. Plus, we got samosas before they got there. They arrived more than 30 minutes after we arrived! We got our food order quickly once they arrived. Besides friendliness of staff, entree & Garlic Naan we got was incredible, which a lamb one. The Samosas we had earlier were delicious too. I wish I took a pic of entree, but I was just ready to eat at that point. But I did get a pic of dessert. We opted to get dessert as we asked about mango lassi & server said it's good but mango dessert is better. So we opted for that which was solid. Our double date got some ice cream one. They shared some (as did we), & honestly we liked theirs even more than ours. CONCLUSION: In spite of not looking forward to this unplanned double date, surprisingly, we had a very good time in spite of some circuitous rambling stories; it was still entertaining overall, were pleasant, & enjoyable. We felt better afterward, & we also talked about how great the food & service was and how it'd be good anniversary dinner or another time in general.

Yelp
We've ordered before & had really good service & food. Tonight we ordered two entrées, both of which have come with rice in the past. We received only one with the delivery & also the biriyani we ordered was exceptionally spicy even though it was requested as mild. When we called to ask about the rice, we're told they combined the rice as a default but that separate rice containers could be selected. On looking at Uber Eats app I confirmed no such selection is available during ordering. Maybe it was Door Dash or other app, they're not the same. Didn't even get to the issue about the biriyani being so spicy. I think it's really silly to lose a customer due to something so small as rice or a spice level but they're very important small details.

Yelp
Incredible place to eat. Rahul is truly an exceptional manager and has been a joy to meet everytime we have gone. My friends and I go at the end of every semester, and even from our first time, Rahul's hospitality was amazing and stays amazing every visit. The food is superb as well; I highly recommend the chicken/lamb vindaloo. This is a must try if in the area.

Yelp
I'm have a weakness for authentic Indian cuisine. Jewel of India provided a dining experience that was surprisingly unexpected for this foodie! Everything was fresh, wonderfully and fragrantly spiced and served hot!!!! (A pet peeve is of mine... I hate cooled food!) please stop through... I highly recommend. Ask for Veer. He was a wonderfully pleasant servicer during our experience!!

Yelp
I am a regular customer of Jewel of India since 2019. Even though I have tried a lot of Indian Restaurants in my area but I still went back there so many times until now because their food and customer service always are excellent. That made them is more outstanding than others. Price is quite value when you compare to a quality. Too bad that Jewel of India don't have lunch buffet anymore after pandemic. The restaurant is located at Hillandale Shopping Center in White Oak, MD. Spacious outdoor parking lots are available for free. Large dining room and interior are elegant, nice atmosphere and feel comforted.

Yelp
Went for lunch and it was wonderful. Vegetable biryani w shrimp and some garlic naan hit the spot! My ex husband was Indian, so very familiar with the food. This was very good and I would definitely recommend and return. The biryani was light and flavorful with out being overly spicy. The naan was buttery w big pieces of garlic on the outside. Staff was friendly and attentive. Meals were brought quickly and water was always full. Great restaurant. Worth a try!

Yelp
BEST INDIAN FOOD IVE HAD IN A LONG TIME. My gosh this place is delicious. I cant find anything wrong with the taste of the dishes to nitpick about. one thing, this restaurant seems a bit more upscale or slightly less casual than most places. they serve alcohol in glasses and are more formal. more people seem to dress better (may have depended on the day or time i went tho). respectful and kind servers who quickly cleared our plates and took our orders! mango lassi (5/5) cant go wrong with this.. creamy thick sweet delicious glass of goodness. puréed mango and yogurt that will just make you so happy ... malai kofta (4/5) very yummy nutty (not too nutty) creamy sauce with potato paneer balls. the sauce was absolutely delish but the paneer balls could've been a bit smaller? i also just in general didnt love the balls but rlly enjoyed the sauce nonetheless. palak/saag paneer (5/5) a classic dish you can never get wrong. yes, it was delicious, but just when next to the chicken curry i wasn't too interested. still delicious and very warming. def yummy and nothing bad ab this dish! chicken curry (5/5) this chicken curry was definitely my favorite. it had a bit more liquid sauce rather than creamy which was full of flavors such as coriander. slightly reminded me of thai food and just in general ab amazing tasty dish that raised the bar of chicken curry for me. also the meat chunks were extremely tender small and soft!

Yelp
My 3 grandchildren and I visited Jewel of India last night (Nov. 3) and what a pleasant surprise! We were greeted at the door by Ramji who later became our server and I felt like I was being welcomed into someone's home. He conversed with us, made suggestions and provided wonderful service throughout the entire meal. The kids enjoyed their Chicken Tikka Marsala while I tried one of India's favorite foods Chana Masala. Both were delicious and delivered while hot with rice and Naan. Since my grandson was not driving, I treated myself to a Blue Hawaiian and it was absolutely the BEST. I've tasted them in Hawaii and this one was far superior. If you haven't been there yet, I urge you to try it, you won't be disappointed. Val P. Hyattsville, MD

Yelp
This place was soo good! Service was great and the ambiance was a bit fancier than expected. Food was delicious. Honestly I forgot what dishes I got but i'm sure everything on the menu tastes as good. Food wasn't as spicy as expected. There's a lot of options, especially if you aren't familiar with Indian food but the waiters were very patient with explaining.

Yelp
To start, this place is amazing. It's a family friendly restaurant which brings you straight to the heart of India. Their food is one of a kind and there's something for everyone. The manager, Rahul, is extremely kind and always makes sure you are having the best experiance possible. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Yelp
This restaurant hits the sweet spot of flavor, service, and value. It's good enough to travel over an hour for me to visit. This Indian restaurant has harder to find items like kadai curry and a couple of others I don't find anywhere else. Each curry was well presented and with amazing flavor. During the meal, the servers were attentive and consistently checked on me and my date despite it being a full house on a Sunday. In a nice touch, they packed the leftovers, which is rare these days. It's not that anything here is blowing you away. It is that the quality is great all around, and the combination makes Jewel of India a true hidden jewel indeed.

Yelp
I was craving Samosa. It's so good! The Fish Chili appetizer also delicious. Those two things alone were filling to me. The service is absolutely amazing for the area. I want to eat here every meal just for the service. The masala tea, so good. You can taste the real spices. They have two choices of Naan - garlic and regular. The garlic is very garlicky which I love, however my American friend preferred the plai, with the spicy food. The lamb, so good. The seasonings amazing. Ya'll enjoy!! This one place is a hidden treasure in this area.

Yelp
I went here today and honestly this was hands down the best Indian food I've had in my entire life. Outside looks shabby but don't judge a book by its cover because inside is very nice and comfortable. I unexpectedly ended up coming here while running errands and wasn't dressed the best to be dining in... They still welcomed me in and gave me the best service I've ever received in a Maryland restaurant. I was serviced by over stove employees and everyone was so kind and helpful. The seats were very comfy and plus size friendly. They were also very accommodating with food allergies and special requests I had for the dishes I ordered. 1-10 I'd give them a 9.8. Everything tasted so good I'd recommend the samosa chat, chicken tikka masala, buttered naan, jalapeño and cheese naan and their rice. I personally don't recommend the mango lassi just because it was more milk consistency rather than the standard consistency. The service and food was amazing and I will be eating here often whether that be delivery, pick up, or dining in. Give them a try !

Yelp
This is one of our favorite restaurants in the DMV area--I have been recommending Jewel of India whenever someone mentions he or she loves Indian food... Service is always courteous and friendly, the ambience classy but relaxed, the food delicious and beautifully presented. I always order a masala (chai) tea (just as with any other restaurant, chai is unique to each place--I really like how Jewel of India prepares theirs) and garlic naan when I'm here...my favorite dishes (I am not too adventurous but have tried several others, and they were all excellent) are the chicken biryani, and shrimp jafrezzi...I also usually order the classic stand-by, chicken tikka masala. The restaurant is tucked away in an inconspicuous corner of the Hillandale shopping plaza--a must-visit if you love Indian food and are in the area!

Yelp
We love Jewel of India and always feel welcome as soon as we enter in the restaurant. We visit every time we come to see our son who is at UMD and each time is fabulous. Our son visits with his friends as well when they want a treat. The food is delicious and fresh with a mix of common Indian dishes as well as creative offerings. Rahul treats us with great attention and we feel like special guests. Truly a wonderful dining experience!

Yelp
Soft brown decor with hanging amber lights, glass bead curtains and Indian paintings. Traditional Indian music in the background, quite a busy lunch crowd. Service was nice and courteous. The prices per normal, the food has always been decent and good; today was no exception. There used to be a lunch buffet, but it has been discontinued due to the pandemic. 3*Goat Cheese Aloo Tikki-Potato Stuffed with goat cheese, green chili and cilantro: it's the first time we tried this appetizer, not sure how authentic it was; okay, the green and red sauces provided flavor. 4.2* Goan Fish Curry The blend of spices and coconut bring out the mild sweetness of the tender fresh fish. I liked the sauce better because it had a bit of a sweet flavor. 4*Chicken Vindaloo Chicken simmered in a fiery vinegar flavored sauce. A specialty of Goa: a bit spicy. Chicken was very tender. 4*Lamb Rogan Josh A specialty from Kashmir, lean chunks of lamb cooked in a flavorful sauce with a blend of fragrant spices: I love Indian lamb dishes because they really know how to cook it well. It was a good dish.

Yelp
Fabulous restaurant. Excellent service and decor . Everything we ordered was delicious we had a calamari appetizer , fish curry, chicken korma and a lamb dish.. was not a fan of the jalapeño( naan but it was worth a try.
google avatar

Jerry S.

Yelp
COVID-19 made it a rhinestone Buffet is gone. I got the mixed grill "lunch special" , which at $18.95 was more than the buffet used to be, even allowing for inflation. The meats were tasty but a bit dry,and the daal was not as complexly flavored as I have grown to expect. Throwing a few bits of Indian pickle in with the iceberg and carrots didn't really impress my taste for the traditional flavors of the cuisine. On the plus side, the naan was fresh and tasty, and the mango lassi thick and fruity. Service was very cordial. Probably not on my go-to list anymore. Just okay.

Yelp
It's about time I update this review. In the time since we've moved to the area, this has easily become our favorite Indian restaurant. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, and perfect for a special occasion. Myself, my fiancé, and my mother in law have all had our birthday dinners here this year. The servers are so friendly and attentive- I swear I take one sip of water and they refill. We have a must-have list every time we come. The tandoori chicken is at the very top of that list. Juicy and smoky, it hits the spot every time! The Chana masala is a recent find and we all agree it's the best Chana masala we've ever had at a restaurant. Seriously, this dish has levels and is complex and freaking amazing. The jalapeño cheese naan is also a staple for us. I could eat it for days! Do yourself a favor and check this place out if you haven't already.

Yelp
On our way home from trips we stopped by a couple of times, this place was an unexpected find, made some decent chicken makhani. Recently I saw they had a dish called Laal maas it was a lamb entree made with fiery red chiles, I asked them if I needed to indicate how hot I wanted it and they said it was already very hot. I ordered a garlic naan but instead I got a plain one. It was good but I would have loved some garlic!! Since it was carry out, it was too late to go back. Back to the laal maas, it was an unusual dish deep red color the sauce was so good I could not stop eating and the lamb morsels were so tender!! It's my first time having this dish and it did not disappoint.

Yelp
We ordered a take out of lamb biryani and a chicken tikka with 2 garlic naans and the food was amazing. Food was also prepared promptly. We will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu

Yelp
Very attentive and polite service, varied and tasty food, served hot. Maybe not as spicy as I'd expected but it turned out a lovely dinner with my wife and I'm thankful and eager to return.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this jewel on a Monday evening of a holiday weekend and it turned out to be a lovely dining experience. Excellent food with really great table side service. Nice drink menu. Beautiful food well presented in a very tidy and fresh dining space.

Yelp
Great ambience and nice Indian flavors. Mutton Rogan Josh was succulent !! And, the naans were awesome.

Yelp
Service flawless every visit. Warm, quiet and not rushed. Food is delicious and flavors complex. Great for sharing. A local gem for sure.

Roya K.

Yelp
The best place to go on a date night. Today was my first time there, and as of now, it'll be my go-to restaurant. The food was so scrumptious, and the ambiance was so lit and decompressing, so I say 10/10. Not to mention that the servers are so professional and welcoming and deserve a top-notch tip. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Rahul is the best! Good fabulous. Aromas tantalizing. Run there. Very clearly marked gluten free and vegan

Yelp
excellent service and great diverse food, Rahul was especially welcoming! The ambiance was also very nice.

Yelp
This was my first time in this restaurant and I have to say that the all the food we had was delicious. We ordered Garlic shrimp Mulligatawny Soup Chicken Makha Chien Curry Garlic Naan All of them were outstanding especially the Shrimp and the soup. The service is like a 5 star restaurant with Rahul as the best server with great customer service.

Yelp
It matters not what evening you choose to come, you are going to get a great meal. From the attention and service, to the great food, consistency is what makes this one of the best restaurants in the area. If we aren't here once a week it is beacause we are out of town.

Yelp
Most incredible food!!! You can tell that this restaurant values its high quality food and flavors. The flavors and spices in every dish were perfect and all and every dish we ate that night was incredible. This is the best Indian food around here. They use local vendors, and their spices are hand ground. This is probably my favorite place to eat in SLO County. It is run by the most kind and humble family with a sweet and welcoming atmosphere. A great place to eat!

Sabrina B.

Yelp
First time going here since before the pandemic. Like the lineup of lunch specials but miss the buffet. Also thought the quality of the food wasn't what it used to be. Impeccable service as always.

Yelp
Highlights: One of my top restaurants in all of the DMV! Don't believe their old reviews. Food is a 10/10. Service is a 10/10 (maybe an 11/10). Drinks are a 9/10. Price is a 9/10. This was now my fourth time at this restuarant. My gf and I absolutely love this place and had to take advantage of the short trip from Bethesda on a Sunday evening. We started off with our usual drinks. She ordered the sharabi lassi (a mango lassi drink) and I got the tamarind drink (which I think was called the imli masala) because I absolutely love tamarind as a Mexican. It was a great start to our meal which was followed by a round of samosas for appetizers. Again, the tamarind sauce was super tasteful. My only minor critique is that I like my tamarind sauce a little spicy but it was still amazing. We then decided to steer away from our usual entrees today and tried something new. Spoiler: there are no regrets. I traded my go-to chicken tikka masala for the chicken shahi korma-- just absolutely delicious. It has a similar texture and presentation as the tikka masala, but a distinct taste which comes from an almond sauce-- delicious. My partner tends to like veggie meals and she chose the paneer lababdar. I had a bite myself because it smelled great, but it ended up tasting even better. Our only sad ending is that we were too full today to get dessert as we usually do. Will definitely have to come back for more. Give them a try! If you like authentic Indian, I guarantee you will love this place.

Yelp
Jewel of India catered our wedding and they did an amazing job. Our guests absolutely raved about the food - especially the chaat station - and we were so happy with all of the apps and entrees. The team, particularly Elizabeth, the catering manager, was responsive and easy to work with. It was actually better at the event than it was during our tasting, which was surprising (and great!) and we were also so happy to see that the owner of Jewel was really involved in the plan for our wedding and was even on-site the day of. Food is such an important part of the wedding day and we're so glad we went with Jewel of India!

Yelp
Been eating here for a quarter of a century and never gone home disappointed. Easy to get to, easy to park, pleasant relaxing interior (love the booth tables), no loud music so conversation is easy, nice selections on the menu for non-meat-eaters, consistent quality, good service, reasonable price. I eat here with family - with book group - friends - farewell dinners (there's a special room you can reserve on the side of the restaurant if you have a large party). I'm a big fan! So is Tom Sietsema :-)

Yelp
More of a 3.5 for me, but I'll round up. The last time I was in the Hillandale neighborhood and we tried to eat at Jewel, it was too close to their 3pm closing and they turned us away. This time, we planned ahead and were able to come in for lunch. We started with the palak chaat ($9) and veggie samosa ($6) appetizers. The palak chaat was decent but nowhere as good as Rasika's. It had an eggy flavor that made it a little off-putting. We wouldn't order it again. The samosas (comes with two) were giant and not spicy at all (which I was happy about). For the most part, the dough was enjoyable and crisp but there were other parts that were doughy and soggy. For my entree, I went with the Thali Special ($27). It's a feast - comes with three vegetarian sides (your choice), black lentil dal, rice, naan, raita, pickles, and a gulab jamun for dessert. The menu also mentions a pappad, but that was not provided. I went with the palak paneer, Chana masala, and yellow lentils. I was a little irked that the waiter said he would give our table a "complimentary dessert," only to have one piece of the gulab jamun served, which was *included* in the Thali Special. He could've at least given one gulab jamun per person if he's going to call it complimentary, or he would've been better off not saying anything at all rather than making false statements. Faux pas aside (and there were a few that shall remain nameless), the Thali was decent but nothing amazing. The consensus was that the dishes needed salt, particularly the palak paneer and yellow lentils. The consistencies of the curries were good - I've had my share of oily tadka yellow dal but fortunately, this was not the case. The Chana masala was one of the better chickpea dishes that I've had, flavor and texture-wise. The black lentils were flavorful with a little bit of a kick to it. The naan was soft, buttery, and delicious. I didn't care for the pickles, but it was nice to try with the Thali meal. Service from our waiter was friendly but not super attentive. We did have other staff members refilling waters and clearing plates, but other than taking our orders and bringing out the dishes, our waiter was pretty laissez-faire. Just a note, they also charged an automatic 18% gratuity for our party of three, and then presented the check as if it wasn't included, with a note reminding you to tip your server. Be sure to review your check!

Yelp
Pretty decent Indian food. The chicken was cooked well and juicy in both dishes, chicken biriyani and chicken tikka masala. Rasamalai was also good. Ordered food for take out so can't comment on service and ambience. However I feel like the portions were smaller than at other places.

Yelp
We live in Olney but come all the way down here for Indian food whenever we get the chance. The staff here is incredibly friendly, the service excellent, and the food is absolutely delicious. Bonus, they are wonderful with my kids!

Yelp
This is a review regarding their delivery service: The Jewel of India... Nay. The Jewel of Hyattsville. While I haven't had a lot of Indian food, this food makes me want more of it. Delivery was fast and prompt, menu is easy to read and the food matches the description. Delicious. Spicy. Will be back again soon to dine in.

Yelp
Good Indian food at decent prices! There's plenty of vegetarian options and it comes with rice. I liked the gobi mutter a lot and my friend liked the naan and lamb curry. Lots of parking and tables inside

Yelp
chicken in tiki masala was dry. tiki masala was not very flavorful. Raita was also lacking flavor. Overall, not my best Indian cuisine experience.

Yelp
No more lunch buffet which was a great deal and had great selections. I ordered their lamb bhuna which was really good and had some spice to it. The chicken tikka masala was just ok for me as it wasn't marinated enough and the white meat tasted a little dry. The palak paneer was also not bad but overall for the price for lunch, I didn't think it was that great.

Yelp
So, I ended up here because Woodlands, a vegetarian restaurant down the road, was offering their menu out of here, but apparently this is only for takeout. If you eat in, you're only able to order off the original menu. I don't entirely understand what's going on there, but just feel compelled to share that for any fans of South Indian cuisine, you cannot sit in here and order it. Nonetheless, I went ahead and ordered here, and it was perfectly good on its own merits. The spring rolls I got had some white peas as well as cabbage and such and came with a spicy dipping sauce, and my bhindi do piaza (okra with onions) had a lively mix of flavors and textures, enhanced by a filling jalapeno cheese bread. The menu was pretty standard, with a few Indo-Chinese additions. It certainly had enough for a vegetarian, even if it wasn't what I was looking for. No ill will towards them; you do you, Jewel of India.

Yelp
Great place! I've been coming here for like 3 years. Joe always takes care of me, really great mojito. Tried the chicken 65 and lamb appetizer from the happy hour. Both are awesome. Great place for a date or social gathering, lovely paintings and music.

Yelp
This was my first time eating Indian food and I have to say I am now a big fan. What a great first experience with a new cuisine. Will definitely be retuning to this establishment

Yelp
What a treat! We were out for a long bike ride and stopped at Jewel of India for an impromptu late lunch. We were very impressed. Impeccable service, outstanding food (samosas, smokey eggplant, mushroom mutter), lovely atmosphere and decor. They were closing soon (break before dinner service) but they still made us coffee (Indian style, delicious) and treated us to a little dessert (my birthday). Jewel of India made a simple lunch into a true treat.
