Breakfast Club: Our Top Picks for Teochew Kueh

"Ji Xiang Confectionery, with nearly thirty years of experience, is a veteran in the local kueh scene. Specializing in ang ku kueh, their tortoise-shaped sweet kuehs are available in traditional and unconventional flavors, making them one of the best in the market." - Alethea Tan

Absolutely phenomenal ang ku kueh, dare I say best in Singapore. The skin was thin and there was alot of filling. At $1.30 per piece, definitely worth the price. I went around 11am before the lunchtime crowd so there was no queue.

Visit on Apr 1, 2025 Long time favourite Ang Ku Kueh Ji Xiang Everton, queueing with senior citizens, the skin is very thin, chewy, filling are ample and perfectly balanced. Favourites include sweet bean, peanut, black sesame and salty bean. Located in Residential area of Everton Park

This is 2 bus stops from Maxwell mrt and a few minutes walk from the bus stop. You can walk straight down from the hdb near the bus stop. Payment is by cash or Paynow. Two pieces of sweet bean were $2.60. I thought the skin was soft and filling generous. It was not as oily as it looked.

Best quality and priced Ang Ku kueh in Singapore and some say Malaysia too at $1.2 a piece! The skin is soft, thin and maintains a nice chew with hint of banana leaf aroma. Their peanut filling has rich flavour of grounded toasted peanut, crunchy, just right sweetness and not oily. They definitely close before 5pm and most flavours run out by 2pm so go early. Their side product like the sesame ball with peanut is a must try, thin crunchy chewy sesame skin with same peanut filling.

Really good and affordable, compared to the Bugis one which felt more like a tourist trap. Very tasty and has thin bouncy skin. Come here for authentic AKK.

There is only 1 Ji Xiang Confectionery, and this is it. Do some legwork, make your way here and queue for some great tasting ang ku kueh. Soft supple kueh skin with generous, tasty, and not overly sweet filling. Glad that they did not take the mass market factory route. The other similar sounding mall outlets simply can't compare.

Traditional Ang ku kueh vendor for many years. The place has changed so much with new hippe cafes coming in. Prices have also inflated with times. 1 ang ku kueh sells as high as 2.50 for a durian one. The sesami one is nice, though.

Update on 18 June 2025 Pop up stall at Raffles Place Exchange - rating ZERO STAR Bought 4 peanut ang gu kuehs from a pop up store at Raffles Place exchange where the signage shows Ji Xiang Everton. Bought on 17 June 2025 around 230 pm and this morning we found many many moulds on the ang gu kuehs. I purposely went down to get a refund and the lady said cant refund and to replace me a box. I asked her what if tomorrow morning it is mouldy again. She ignored me. Please look into this if this is your pop-up store. I never came across such situation before where the next day it turns mouldy. Sorry I need to share the pictures here. Please investigate. Thank you. 2021 Bought from their Toa Payoh outlet. Still the best traditonal ang gu kuehs. Tried many different stalls. This is still the best with very thin skin and lots of fillings. Love the peanut.
