Jia Szechuan - Review - Old Fourth Ward - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"When you're aimlessly roaming through Ponce City Market with a small crew, this is where you should go, especially if you're with folks who like to share. Jia is a full-service restaurant that has a giant menu of solid Chinese dishes, a few large tables inside that’ll accommodate groups of eight, and plenty of seating on the usually quiet back patio. Take advantage of the family-style dining and fill your table with bowls of steaming noodles, saucy beef and broccoli, vinegary Sichuan peanuts, and garlicky green beans. Just know if you order the handmade dumplings, the tasty appetizers may arrive long after your entrees." - Nina Reeder

Visited the location within Ponce City Market. The menu seems appetizing to me so I gave it a try. The service was fine, my waiter was attentive. The food came out within a decent time frame of 20-25 minute wait. I have had many of the foods I’ve ordered at other restaurants before. The food was not authentic to me. The chicken dumplings were well presented, but the flavor was not there in the chicken. It just seemed that a boiled chicken was stuffed into the dumpling; the soy sauce is what elevated the taste. The sesame chicken was not fresh. You can tell it was just additional sauces added to the meat because the meat was a little bit hard to chew. The fried rice tasted great. I wish there were actual vegetables on the fried rice, but the options were either steam rice or fried rice..

This is the best Chinese restaurant I’ve been too… no, it’s not that healthy… but my god is it amazing. Get their wings. They are the BEST wings. The food is spicy - it’s Chinese food 🤯 go and enjoy a good meal

I thought I’ve written a review for this place before. But seeing none, here’s mine. This is our go-to restaurant when we need a quick, tasty bite that’s not too pricey. We always get the same thing / start with the flash fried green beans (yumm!) I get the shrimp fried rice. My husband gets the spicy beef & tofu dish that’s served in a big bowl and comes with rice. It’s always tasty. If you get the green beans, I do recommend not making it to go as they’re not nearly as good leftover. Not a dog friendly patio

Tried JIA Szechuan Food & Bar and was really disappointed. The food was overwhelmingly salty—so much so that it was hard to enjoy, and we ended up throwing most of it away. On top of that, they automatically charged a 10% tip for takeout, which felt unnecessary given there was no real service involved. Definitely not worth the price or experience. Wouldn’t go back unless they make some serious changes.

We walked by and it smelled divine. I ordered an assortment of hot and cold items for the table, including the tangy wood ear mushrooms, the savory Dan Dan noodles, the pork pepper, and some Ma Po tofu. Everything was delicious. We also did the dumplings of the day in the pan fried style as suggested by our server. They were crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It was a mix of pork and shrimp. There was a side of vinegar on the plate. I wish there was vinegar at the table and maybe some chili oil, but overall very tasty. The selection of drinks was pretty good and each cocktail was thoughtfully made. The restaurant was cozy and nicely decorated. It would be a cute date spot especially when you are craving Szechuan. They warned us that things were spicy but I didn’t find anything overly spicy. 🌶️ A huge benefit is that we didn’t have to wait long to be seated on a Friday night and parking was easy. After we left we were able to easily walk to dessert and drinks at the surrounding stalls.

I visit this location quite frequently and unfortunately If you want subpar service, a slow and chatty bartender but decent food come here. Today was particularly disturbing as I watched the blonde haired bartender sit her bottom on the counter to chat right where the food orders are handled and given to customers, also right next to my order which I watched closely because it was sitting there for 5 to 10 minutes and nobody seemed to notice it. Regardless of it being a slow period I find that disturbing. I would say i'd come back because the food is good, however, they took the shrimp fried rice off the menu and now you have to order that dish as individual items which increase the price significantly. Extremely disappointing.

The OWNER was ridiculously rude to my friend after getting the wrong meal (got pork when she ordered chicken) and then found hair in her new dish. She does not have curly hair nor did anyone in attendance with her that night. The owner stated that she was making a big deal, acting like a baby, then to top it all off. He said, “This is why female businesses fail.” Which was heard by the female bartender. Surprisingly, the owners hair fit the description of the hair found in the food. Take a look at the wonderful note he left on the receipt along with the question marks next to her order, which was still incorrect.

Spontaneously stopped in to grab lunch. Malique (Bartender) was absolute amazing! His customer service was unbelievable. The drinks were perfect! I had a Peach Martini. The food was fresh and hot! I will definitely be back in the near future.

Yelp
Staff are great and the food is delicious!! Not your usual American Chinese food. The dry fried eggplant, Hunan chicken and hot and numbing beef are excellent. Be prepared for spice and flavor!

Yelp
I was pretty disappointed with the quality of the dishes we ordered. We had the soup dumplings and chicken dumplings, both were not very good. The dough was uncooked and dry in some spots and then soggy in others. We also had the fried spring rolls, which I ordered as a "safety plate" in case I didn't like anything else- the cabbage and lettuce inside seemed old and tasted bitter. My husband ordered the a fried rice with chicken and I stuck with vegetable fried rice, the portions were huge which was great! The fried rice plates were the best thing we ate here. Both okay but definitely wouldn't come back for more.

Yelp
Went here with my boyfriend's family during their visit to Atlanta. We were really hungry after spending the day walking at the Botanical Garden. We decided on Jia after seeing that they had some different protein options compared to the other food spots at Ponce City Market. We were sat pretty quickly which was nice but that's about where the nice experience ended. First off, the menus are strange as each page is in a different orientation plus they have so many plate options you find yourself flipping around the menu. I compared it to an origami Cheesecake Factory menu. Eventually, we were all able to decide on our option for the evening. We started out with Spring Rolls for the table. They brought out only the plate with Spring Rolls and no additional small plates! The rolls were freshly fried so they were hot. It was very uncomfortable to share that small plate as 4 people. Then we had our dinner entrees. The food came out at really varying pace which wasn't great because I wait for everyone to get their food before eating. The server asked if we got Mapo Tofu and I raise my hand and the just dropped it in front of his parents and left. When my bf's dad got his Dry Fried Chicken plate he complained that it was too sweet to eat. My bf tried it and agreed. We asked to switch the plate since he didn't like it and the waitress had to ask the manager. The manager then proceeded to peek at us through the entranceway making it an uncomfortable experience yet again. She did come back after a few minutes and asked what he wanted and he just went with Beef and Broccoli since that's what his wife got and she didn't provide the menu again. My boyfriend got the Beef Short Rib and the waitress did ask if he was fine with spicy. He said yes clearly not knowing that Spicy meant a plate of 50% peppers. There were literally more peppers than beef and the Jalapeños were sliced to look like green peppers lending everyone in the party to bite straight into hot peppers. As for my dish, I actually liked it! I'm a tofu fanatic and I will say it was super spicy but it still had flavor. I paired it with the fried rice that smelled a little like feet. But dipping the fried rice in the soup made it edible. They did good with this dish in my opinion. Overall, it was moreso the experience of dining in more than the food that made this unpleasant. It honestly kind of soured an otherwise wonderful day. Don't be a sit down spot if you're not going to put any effort into serving your patrons. The food is decent but beware of the spice!! I'd recommend just taking this to go and eating in one of the public areas if you want Chinese at Ponce City Market. If not, check out one of the other joints! Just as good food with way better service.

Yelp
Fried Rice seemed stale and over cooked. Wouldn't get this again. Next I tried the General Tso's Chicken and added beef and shrimp and this was pretty tasty with added flavor. I think that flavorful combination would pair well with the white rice. I sat at the bar and didn't order any drinks but a lot of people sit for the drinks since it's a pretty touristy location in ponce city market. I had great service with my water staying full and any request such as added sauces came quickly. With all the different spots around I think this place is worth a try for sure

Yelp
It was certainly tasty. But not 5 stars tasty. It's one of the few places open late in the place. It's in the middle of everything and only looks to have a handful of tables which adds to the mystic. It's low lighting which makes the atmosphere intimate. The smells were okay. We were seated right by the kitchen and thought it would be stronger. We came towards the end of the night and I ordered three things and each time the waitress came back to tell me that they were out. Finally I went with the garden duck and egg fried rice. My fourth choice turned out to be not half bad. I was actually really happy with it but there was other things on the menu that I don't normally get and sounded delicious. Shame I didn't get to experience it. I'll give it a 3 stars because the staff was okay (they seemed ready to be done for the night), they were out of everything I really wanted. Being next to the kitchen was also kinda annoying. It made it loud. Their alcohol selection was below average. The food was a four star however. And I'd recommend them for that. But the whole experience was a little lacking.

Yelp
I am not completely sure why this place was only served 3 stars but it was by far some of the freshest Chinese food I've tasted in a while! Here's my review: Location: This place is located inside of PCM (Ponce City Market) Parking: Parking is paid only. No exceptions outside of the 30 mins free parking but make sure you are SURE it's not one of those spaces or you will get booted or towed! Atmosphere: PCM is like your local food market.. everything is hustle and bustle! If you enjoy this vibe you should be fine. Most of the restaurants some of their seating is right out in front viewing all the people going by. This particular restaurant was nestled in the middle of the food market. I was greeted and served right away. The decor and everything was perfect made me feel like I was on the streets of china eating local food! The food came FAST and was A LOT! It was very good no complaints from flavor. We also order drinks and surprise! Strong but tasty! I have nothing but good praises from this place. They use toast kiosks so your checkout is fast and can be contactless! I don't have any tips or anything as everything was amazing lol Our waitress was good too - she seemed new and didn't know the menu well but again she was kind and came back with the correct things the first time. This one has been added to my go to for Ponce city market!

Yelp
I've been here several times and found that only their Numbing Tofu Skin is worth the wait. Everything else is either too bland or too sweet. Staff is nice, but it takes a while for orders to be ready.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Monday based on some recommendations from some friends. It was decently busy, but we were seated very quickly. I was surprised they didn't serve any tea at this Chinese restaurant, but not a deal breaker for me. My friend and I split the dandan noodles, dry fried pork belly, and the boiled fish dish. The dandan noodles were pretty good. The chili oil definitely had the numbing spice and was very light compared to other dandan noodles I've had in the past. The dry fried pork belly was okay in my opinion. The breading was pretty oily, granted, pork belly is pretty oily to begin with. The seasonings were pretty good, but I just couldn't get over the oiliness. The boiled fish dish was probably my favorite dish from this visit. The fish was super tender and the vegetables tasted amazing. I would say that the soup was a bit less flavorful from how I'm used to, but it's definitely a good way to introduce yourself into szechuan cuisine if you're not used to the numbing spice.
google avatar

Jay D.

Yelp
I liked Jia, I didn't think it was as bad as some of the other Yelpers felt and it wasn't as great as some of the other Redditors felt, it was a pretty happy medium for me! The numbing flavor on the crispy beef was good, the fried rice was delicious, I liked the mapo tofu but two of the people I was there with thought it was lacking flavor, and the soup dumplings were decent! I hated the drink I got, I swear it was straight alcohol with syrup, but I can see some people really enjoying that type of drink (strong but very sweet)? Overall I enjoyed it and I'm glad there's a space for it at PCM!

Yelp
My cousins and I were walking around Ponce Market looking for a place to eat. One of them chose this restaurant and they were seated right away. We met them there and I began to look at the Yelp reviews. They weren't the best AT ALL. I chose to get 2 orders of the spring rolls and a lychee martini--I asked if they could make with gin instead of vodka--so tbd. Everyone else ordered mini burgers, general Tso, steamed and fried dumplings and some shrimp noodles. They had the dinner and the lunch menu available. There were two lychee martinis, raspberry martini, and tequila sunrise. My spring rolls came first and they were ok. Nothing I would come back for. My cousin and her boyfriend did not like the general tso at all. They said the fried rice was good, but the chicken wasn't good. Her boyfriend ate it because he was hungry, but she didn't. The orangey sauce on the general Tso was not a good idea to begin with. We realize after a while everyone for their drinks and the two orders for the lychee Martini was not at the table. We asked the waiter and she said they didn't have anymore...which was weird because why didn't you tell us that instead of us finding you and asking about it. The table ate their food and also she was missing two orders of rice as well after about 15-20 mins. We found out waiter again and asked about the rice. She then told us that the kitchen ran out of rice and has to make another batch. Yes, she didn't communicate effectively to us yet again. At this point, we were over it and asked for our check. We made sure they did not include the lychee martini and overall the experience was lackluster. The ambiance is fine, it's nothing amazing that caught our eye. The waiter wasn't communicating well with the kitchen/bar to us. So I truly wouldn't recommend and I def won't be back here. I was so annoyed I didn't even bother to take a picture of my food. I did get the one drink picture.

Yelp
Busy Friday night but was seated immediately outside on the patio. Service was excellent. We started with pan fried dumplings. They were tasted and the perfect appetizer. I had beef with peppers and fried rice for my meal. The fried rice was slightly bland. The beef and peppers had a medium/ mild spice.

Yelp
Every time we visit ATL, we stop by the Ponce City Market...so it's been 4+ annual trips to JIA and each experience is consistently very good. In the past, we dine in the restaurant and have a great meal. With the latest visit, we decided to carry out and have the meal at home. Apparently, easy ordering via their online site, they give a free chicken entree (min required)! I cannot rave enough about one particular dish...dry fried eggplant. It's a mix of salty, spicy, & crunchy eggplant in one dish. So good, we always double-order this dish. Service has always been good for us - but go here for the food, it's amazing!

Yelp
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Had a nightmare experience, everything from the food and the atmosphere to the customer service was awful. Server never refilled water or checked in. Save yourself the time and the stomach ache. Oh and check out my "bang bang shrimp " Should be called sweet and sour soup . First and last time here!
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely hidden gem in PCM! Pretty easy to get a table; lots of space and cute vibes. They have a full bar, ask and you can get a great mocktail! As a vegan, Chinese food is a staple and this location never disappoints. Good portion sizes and such a large menu, you can't go wrong
google avatar

Truthful J.

Yelp
My husband got me some take out from here. I wanted something light so I got the pan fried shrimp dumplings and egg drop soup. The dumplings were terrible. The egg drop soup was tasty but they didn't come with any crunchy noodles like I'm used to. Can't say I'd ever ask to go here to dine in.

Ismael E.

Yelp
1.Terrible service 2.Owner is a D-Bag nepo baby 3.The food is Sub Par. 4.Don't waste your time or money here

B S.

Yelp
Do the employees not have facial muscles? Not a single employee smiled the entire time. The bar was dirty with employees personal water bottles laying around in front of customers. They don't have the Asian beers listed on the menu. Food portions were large but the whole experience was awkward and off putting by the employees. I get you hate your job but it impacted your tip too.

Yelp
It is hard to choose a restaurant at Ponce City Market. We were drawn to try this Chinese/Szechuan style option due to its festive exterior décor, availability of outdoor seating, and we love Chinese food! We were sat in this large wooden booth outside. It looked really cool, but it was a little hard to get comfortable as it was so bulky and not easy to adjust. The seating areas are sectioned off by store, but did offer nice views of some of the other store fronts/diners at the market. The menu is quite extensive and felt authentic due to the inclusion of Chinese and English. My husband and I ordered the Steamed Dumplings (filled with pork) and Dan Dan Noodles (minced pork with peanuts, spicy sauce, and rice noodles). The dumplings tasted pretty similar to what I get at my local Chinese take out, I guess I was hoping for something superior here. The Dan Dan Noodles was probably the best thing I ate. Good amount of spice, noodle delicately cooked, and flavorful pork. This is not something I find at home, so it felt like a true treat! For entrees, we decided to order off the Lunch Special Menu. I got the Chicken with Garlic Sauce (shredded chicken along with garlic, ginger, onion, black ear mushrooms, scallions, and bell pepper) and I think my husband got the Kong Pao Chicken. These were huge lunch sized entrees, we left a good bit behind. Mostly rice as there way too much of it. The entrée part themselves were good, but again nothing truly unique or spectacular. I added the Hot and Sour soup and my husband a Spring roll to share as add-ons. All in all, we all felt satisfied when we left, but no one was really wowed by the experience. I would probably choose differently if I came back to Ponce City Market.

Mandy S.

Yelp
The lo mein here was great. Good portions of meat. Very nice to give us so much chilli oil. The hot and sour soup was very good as well. They charge a 12% tip if you order to go but it's worth it because you can sit with other people ordering other things.
google avatar

Amber R.

Yelp
1. The menus are filled with food. Meaning, I opened my menu and noodles and rice fell out. CRAZY! 2. Beef Lo Mein- I've had better from my local Chinese restaurant. You get a large portion though. 3. Chicken and Broccoli- I sent it back it looked colorless and lacked flavor. 4. Shrimp Basil- 5. The ice was dirty. Yes, the ice.

Yelp
Went on a quiet Tuesday evening for dinner. We got seated right away and our waitress was very friendly. We ordered our drinks and I asked for the lychee martini but unfortunately they were out of the lychee soho so I ended up getting the Peach state instead which was good. We got the steamed pork dumpling to start and the waitress told us that it will take 20 minutes. Then we ordered our dishes and all the food came out about the same time. We got fried rice with our meals, the Shan city chicken was good and very spicy, the chicken with three mushrooms wasn't bad but it was a bit bland. The servings were a good size and we got filled up with all the food so we took the leftovers to go.

Yelp
It is not amazing Chinese food but pretty decent. Considering the price is pretty fair (given the inflation and price hike everywhere) plus prompt service, it deserves a five star. Beef with wild pepper: the pepper is hot but beef is not. Also starch water was added in the dish so it is not a real schezwan style stir fry. Fried eggplant: it is light and not greasy. A little bit salty for my taste but my friend really liked it. Mixed veg: everything is pretty fresh in this dish. Something good to have for meal.
google avatar

Vida F.

Yelp
I made a to go order for Xiao long bao and wuxi ribs. Unfortunately, this was the worst variation of these two food items that I've ever had. The soup dumplings were super greasy and seemed old. The ribs tasted fishy and off-putting. I felt sick after a few bites and threw the rest of the ribs away just in case. I recommend going to one of the many other establishments in Ponce or traveling to another Szechuan restaurant where the food may be fresher and made with more care.

Yelp
Asian restaurant that doesn't serve any tea? Yes- it was a sign we should've left. I'm not sure if maybe they are going through a management change or something else major because it was just so surreal. I've eaten here before and had great experience. So, I was shocked. Our server who was definitely rave level high. Our food seemed to take a little long but that might've been us. Generals chicken- basic dish. The chicken was in such huge chunks- it was really difficult to eat especially with cheap plastic utensils. Once I cut a few pieces open, it was raw in center. Both entree were so extremely over spiced. We had to get a manager to get our rice. O- and they don't offer lunch specials on holidays even if a Tuesday. I wish we would've complained that day but it was so bizarre. No tea. No soda. No lunch options (12:45 pm). Tripping giggling server. Screaming baby. Raw chicken. I'm not planning on ever returning.
google avatar

Yelp
I just love love love this place. The whole pieces of white meat chicken is such high quality and unmatched to any other Chinese restaurant. Whether it's takeout or dining in, our food is amazing and the service is always nice to me. I am so impressed every visit with the flavors of the homemade sauces and dumplings. If I lived at ponce I would come WAY too often! This is amazing incredible Chinese food that I always bring Atlanta visitors to, I'm proud to show off my favorite takeout spot!

Yelp
Very cute decor is PCM. Sat at the bar with the kid reservations prevented us from being seated at a table. The bartender was dry but his service was prompt and accurate. Just seemed like a no frills type of person. We ordered Spring Rolls (yes) Wonton Soup (absolutely) Shrimp Fried Rice (no) Pork Dumplings (no) All the food was served promptly, minimal waiting time. The spring rolls were delicious, fried, slightly greasy. The wonton soup was delightful. You only get 3 wonton. The pork was heavy on ginger and scallions. The outside was cooked perfectly. The shrimp fried rice was overcooked and lacked flavor. It didn't have any vegetables. The shrimp was also overcooked and not deveined - easy pass. The dumplings - pork was good. But the steamed outside was not a good texture. Overall meh. Stick to small plates.

Yelp
2/5 because I felt bad for the bar tender. Otherwise it would really just be 1/5. This food hall in general is a very busy place. So taking food orders can be tricky, but all these businesses have a system down that works for the hustle and bustle. Except this one. When you first approach this business you'll see a bar front and center. Off to the side is a host stand with menus. But you'll notice that menus are scattered all across the bar. Behind the hosts stand you might see nobody. Or you might see a girl kicking back, hanging out on her phone with the talent of being able to completely tune out all the chaos around. You could stand there for quite some time to get your order in. Only because the busy bar tender that's making and taking drink orders, is also the only one there taking Togo orders too! He's frazzled but maintains his cool and professionalism. Bless this poor dude. When you come back to get your food, you may or may not see the hostess. If you do, she might, without greeting or warning, snatch your receipt out of your hands and walks away. Zero eye contact. She's possibly a ninja? Field operative? No clue. My soup dumplings? 2/5 Love soup dumplings. But these were really just mushy, dumplings with a dry chewy center, no soup, with a broken mushy bottom layer. And no I didn't take these all the way home or jostle them around. I sat at the table about 20 feet away from the bar.. All I could do was pout.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was average but concerned that the lady helping us was sick and could have gotten us sick while eating here. The food was average and it felt like I was eating food that was either old and the fried rice tasted like I was eating brown rice without any flavor.

Yelp
Tasty China is where my roommate and I go for our Sunday and/or weekday night "life sux" dinners. The waiters are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, the food comes fast, and it hits the spot every time. We like to sit outside to escape the noise and busyness of PCM, and we always leave feeling warm, well-fed, and a little less stressed. Other tips: -Our usual order is the clay pot eggplant and Mapo tofu (but we decided to try something new this time around, per the attached picture - still good, but I think I prefer our usual order). It's the perfect amount of food at a very reasonable price.

Parnian V.

Yelp
This place deserves a higher rating, a 4/5 at least. Ordered the lunch special on a Monday morning and was pleasantly surprised- the entree had a homemade quality to it which I love. Asked for it spicy and they threw in a chopped jalapeño. I'll be back.
google avatar

Yelp
It is easy to walk past as the signage is lacking. When you come across the dragon on the pillar, you are at the right spot. If you are looking for authentic and phenomenal Chinese food -- arrived -- this is your place. We had Yu Xiang Rou, Jaozi (dumplings), Ma Po Dofu, Dan Dan Mian, and Green Beans! The best experience ever I wish I could give it six stars!

Yelp
On my quest to eat at every restaurant at PCM (Ponce City Market) I stopped by Tasty China today. It was a little after 2:00pm so it looked like the lunch crowd dispersed so there wasn't a wait for anything. Also they have lunch specials M-F from 11-2:30 (which are also shown in their menu). They have dining and a bar area so I chose the bar area so that I could still see the food hall. After looking over the menu I decided to go with 2 Spring Rolls ($3) each and the General Tso Chicken ($9.25). It took about 10 mins for my order to be brought out to me. Once my waiter sat the dish down in front of me, the first thing I noticed was the steam coming from the food. I could tell then that my food was hot from the stove/ kitchen (green flag). For starters the Spring rolls which are nothing but vegetable rolls were crunchy/ crispy and very flavorful inside. Slaughtered them. The General Tso Chicken was A1. It was a nice portion and everything was hot as I previously mentioned. The rice and chicken come separated so it's up to you to mix or eat separate. Me? I mixed it and had a field day destroying my meal lol. You most definitely can eat some now and take some home for later or if you're like me you can eat it all at once. Tasty China is definitely a spot for all occasions in my opinion unless you're looking for a super formal type of evening. It is a bit more busier Friday- Sunday so keep that in mind. I highly recommend trying them. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I'm not entirely sure why the reviews are so low here. I didn't really read them, but here's my thoughts: Food was absolutely delicious. My husband and I went with two friends. We each ordered something different and tried from each other's. I ordered the Braised Szechuan Beef Noodles and boy it was sooo good. The noodles soaked up all of the broth's delicious-ness. I just wanted to take my bowl and sip the broth straight from the bowl. I'm not a fan of tofu so everyone else ate the fried tofu in my dish. The cumin lamb definitely had a good punch of cumin but I loved that. The fried beef Changsha and a sweetness to it. Both dishes come with steamed rice. Our forth friend ordered a seafood dish, but I did not taste it, so I don't have much to say about it. Service isn't that attentive, but the food made up for it for us. The wait was also a little long, but we weren't in a rush and again, the food made up for the wait.

Yelp
Dont waste your money here. They charge 15% auto gratuity for takeout orders. I paid $89 to take out half a duck, wontons, and a pork belly appetizer. Complete rip off. I ordered at the counter not through a food app. This place is gonna be gone real fast.

Yelp
Tasty China Jia is nestled inside of Ponce City Market. We sat at the bar to eat our dinner so we could also people watch :) The food was absolutely spectacular. We had ordered the Dumplings for an appetizer (didn't get until the end so we had to box it up), the Chicken Lo Mein dish, and the General Tso Chicken plate with white rice. The only reason why I wouldn't give a 5 star (because the food is soooo yummy), was because of the service. I highly recommend stopping at Tasty China Jia if you are strolling the Ponce City Market/looking for somewhere to eat.

Yelp
We're at the Ponce City Market in Atlanta and decided to try Jia Szechuan Food and Bar. It's an amazing place to eat Chinese food. The food's delicious, we tried a variety of dishes here and they have all been excellent. I gave four stars because of slow service and lack of communication from the staff. Still recommend giving this restaurant a try!

Yelp
Atmosphere: Jia is one of the dining options in Ponce City Market. It has a bar facing the outside, which is where we ordered for takeout. The inside seemed nice and was at a reasonable (and responsible) capacity considering the pandemic. Service: Our server was friendly even though he seemed busy juggling other orders/customers. We ordered at the bar, and it took around 20-25 minutes to get one order of Xiao Long Bao. Food: We ordered the Xiao Long Bao. It was very fragrant (which can be a good or bad thing depending on your taste) and was on the doughier/stickier side. The soup inside was our favorite part, as it was hot and tasted great on a winter day. We've definitely had better Xiao Long Baos and weren't necessarily disappointed or thrilled with our food. Overall: Jia shows a lot of promise, and it's hard to judge their vast menu off of their Xiao Long Bao alone. The food took a bit to get compared to other eateries at Ponce City Market but was fresh and fragrant when we ate. Jia did not give us the most memorable experience this time around, but we would not mind coming back to taste other dishes.

Yelp
We sat outside and had a great time at this place. I ordered the spring rolls and they were pretty good. I also got shrimp Lo mein and received a great portion and it was delicious. My friend got pan fried dumplings and chicken fried rice and raved about them both.

Yelp
Terrible customer service and taste. Ordered online for pickup, set for 8:00. Went up to the host stand at 7:40 to let them know we were there. Was met with an extremely unfriendly host who was borderline rude. After having to retell her that we were just there to see if our food was ready, she turned around and picked up a bag that happened to be our order. When we questioned why it was already sitting out and we were 20 minutes early to pick it up, she rudely told us it had only been sitting there for 15 minutes.... Pretty gross. The flavor of the food was extremely bland, it was very greasy. Will not be returning and wouldn't recommend anyone supports this business.

Yelp
This place always delivers. Worth the wait and great quality. We had the Dynamite Fish Fillet and it was extremely flavorful and fresh and not over the top spicy. I would say it should be labeled 2 peppers instead of 3. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
I went here for couples night with 7 other couples. I've been eating clean since the new year!! Oh yeh! (It's Jan 7th ) but looking forward to this cheat meal for the week. I'm gonna have to have another cheat meal tomorrow because this wasn't worth it. I ordered hot and sour soup which was very good. And also ordered 2 appetizers as my meal. The fried pork belly and the fried banana. I don't know if it was MSG, or the oil they fried it in. But it tasted like old oil, mixed with lack of flavor, mixed with too salty, mixed with chemicals. My mouth started to go numb and tingly with each bite. And this was the same for any fried item. I also tasted my husbands fried duck. Same thing. We sent the duck back. So it has to be some chemical they add, or the frying oil was rancid. But by the time I left, I felt a tad nauseous and weirdly numb mouth. I have a diverse palate, no food allergies, and not too judgey with food. So you know it was bad. I've been talking to my husband all night about it. He's like be quiet already! Lol Service was good. For a table of 18 there was one female server. She was overwhelmed and it wasn't fair she had our entire table. But she did her best, she was attentive and hard working. Poor little college kid. Doing her best for tips at an understaffed restaurant.

Yelp
Stopped by for a late lunch, and we were able to snag a table. My friend ordered the Hunan Chicken and said it was delicious, though spicier than he anticipated. I ordered the Braised Szechuan Beef Noodles and oh my gosh that was hot! Like, hot hot! Seriously, one sip of the broth and my taste buds were done for. Absolutely amazing flavors and very tender beef, but just too hot to truly enjoy. The servers should really leave a pitcher of water at the table lol. We also split the Scallion Bubble Pancake which was entertaining (it was literally an inflated pancake bubble) and it came with a curry-based dipping sauce that tasted good. Overall, large portions and tasty food, but maybe tone down the heat (or even make it optional).

Yelp
I was drawn to this place not only because I love Chinese food but the decor has such an authentic vibe that it just drew me in. So I tried it for the first time and I was very pleased! My date and I had dinner at the bar because it was so crowded. He had the wonton soup and garlic chicken and I had the dumplings and kung pao chicken. It was true Szechuan, authentic cooking. Beautiful plating and presentation of the food on blue china. I enjoyed it!

Yelp
This is average food with average to below average customer service. The Mongolian beef was pretty good. A friend got the general Tso's chicken and asked for extra spicy and it came out not spicy at all. My recommendation is that the restaurant redo the menus - they are disgusting and falling apart. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Yelp
In a sea of options for food at Ponce City Market, we were drawn to this place because of their soup dumplings. Although they have their own seating, we placed a to-go order since our group was getting food from multiple places and wanted to sit in the common area of the market. You can go past the host table to the cash register next to the bar to place a to-go order. This is also where you pick up. There was only one person in front of us in line to order and they told us about 20 minutes, no pager or text or anything. It ended up working out because we found a table right in front of their restaurant in the common area. So when I came back after 20 minutes and it wasn't ready, I pointed to my table and they were happy to being out the food. The soup dumplings were good, but the beef Dan Dan noodles we got left much to be desired. The portion wasn't that big and the sauce was all at the bottom of the plastic container. Even after mixing it up, the ratio was never right and there were some super spicy bites and other plain bites.

Yelp
Just left this restaurant and had the absolute worst experience and worst food. The server barely spoke to us, never gave us water and my meal came after everyone was already finished with theirs. Not once did she check in on us & Our food was quite literally disgusting. We ordered " bang bang shrimp " & received just shrimp swimming in sweet and sour soup. We never received a receipt after asking for one. Horrible.

Yelp
Wow I had higher expectations for this place especially due to the location and proximity to so many great restaurants. The food was bland and overall pretty bad. Customer service was really lacking. Our server was so weirdly rude to us and would just randomly come and stand in front of us or sit right behind us. She was rushing us from the moment we got there. The place was also SO dirty and had dust and spiderwebs everywhere. Overall a very strange experience. Will not be going back and really do not recommend.

he reason for my 3 star review is because my waitress provided terrible service. She forgot to put in one of our orders.
