I chanced upon Jay Jia Yentafo while taking a 30-minute walk from my hotel to clock some steps before dinner. Along the way, I noticed this humble spot with a Michelin Guide logo and decided to give it a try—and I’m so glad I did!
I ordered the dry noodle dish and initially thought it might be bland since there didn’t seem to be any chili sauce. However, it turned out to be incredibly flavorful! The noodles were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of chew, and the seasoning was well-balanced, with crispy garlic and shallots adding great texture and aroma.
The toppings were fresh and generous—fish balls, fish cake slices, crispy wonton skin—all of which made the dish a delight to eat. The portion size was satisfying without feeling heavy, and the flavors were surprisingly complex for such a simple dish.
The staff were friendly and attentive, and when they noticed I was a tourist, they even provided an English menu, which made ordering so much easier. The quick service and nostalgic floral bowl added to the charm of the experience.
A gem worth visiting!
