The Best Soup Dumplings in NYC | Eater NY

"The sprawling dumplings have a more delicate wrapper than you might imagine, and the filling of the pork and crab has a good amount of crustacean that shines not only in the topknot, but in the porky interior, too. This is an elegant restaurant with all sorts of tableside prep, including flaming dishes, and the dumpling steamer itself is particularly handsome." - Robert Sietsema

Great food just like the flushing location but the decor was so different. It felt much more modern which was quite different from other locations. The duck was the highlight. Thin and crispy skin and the wrappers were perfect texture and thickness. The mega lamb was a bit on the dry side but the taste was not bad

The food in this restaurant is disappointing. Considering the 4.6 star on Google reviews and the Michelin recommendation sign on the wall, we expect that it’ll be decent. However the veges have gone bad, the chicken stock is artificial, and the staff simply toss the foods on the table and leave/ walking around playing with their phone. The manager is polite and offer us dessert after our complaint, yet I sincerely hope that the restaurant can keep up its standard if they hang the Michelin recommendation sign so obviously on the wall.

Google
Our favorite weekly restaurant. We keep coming back for the duck, soup dumplings, Mapo tofu, and pork belly. Service is always great; staff was proactive bringing our aunt her warm water, etc we like this location better than the Chinatown location.

Google
First time at this location and happy to say that it’s easy to get seating since foot traffic here isn’t as busy but that also means this location closes earlier than others. Food is always good. Got the Peking duck and highly recommends it! Soup dumplings were great as well.

This time we brought in Julian @julianwittich— our favorite half-Taiwanese, half-Dutch bassist — to taste-test @jiangnan with us. Safe to say… he basically fell in love with every dish🥰 No wonder this place keeps racking up those Michelin nods three years in a row! New Dishes | Jiangnan ✖️ Black Truffle Series ✨ Sauteed Diced Beef with Black Truffle Tender, juicy beef cubes stir-fried with crispy king oyster mushrooms and rich black truffle aroma—luxuriously flavorful in every bite. ✨ Deep-Fried Tofu with Black Truffle Golden and crispy on the outside, soft and silky inside. The truffle aroma hits the nose instantly—surprisingly delightful texture and taste. Highly Recommended ✨ Flank Steak with Katsu Sauce Braised to melt-in-your-mouth tenderness, this flank steak is paired with a rich Japanese-style sauce for layers of deep umami flavor. ✨ Sauteed Crab Meat Finely sautéed hand-picked crab meat—silky, aromatic, and packed with rich, savory seafood flavor. A perfect rice companion! ✨ Mega Lamb Skewer Thick, juicy chunks of lamb with a charred exterior, bursting with cumin and grilled meat aroma—deeply satisfying with every bite. ✨ Crispy Shrimp with Honey Walnuts Oversized shrimp fried to crispy perfection, coated in a creamy, lightly sweet sauce. The crunchy walnuts add the perfect contrast—a must for sweet & savory lovers! ✨ Stir-fried Loofah Crisp and juicy loofah stir-fried to retain its natural sweetness, with a hint of garlic for a refreshing, palate-cleansing dish. ✨ Peking Duck (Half) Crispy duck skin, tender meat, and classic pancake wraps—it never goes out of style. ✨ Steamed Sliced Barramundi with Scallion Delicately steamed fish slices with a light scallion infusion. Clean, fresh, and ideal for those who enjoy milder flavors. ✨ Chicken & Fish Maw Soup (Individual Bowl) Rich, gelatinous broth with tender chicken and bouncy fish maw—deeply nourishing and great for the skin. ✨ Home Style Crispy Fish Crispy-skinned fish with firm meat, served in a mildly sweet sauce—rich in flavor without feeling heavy. Cocktail Series ✨ Lychee Mangosteen Martini A tropical blend of sweet lychee and refreshing mangosteen—fruity, fragrant, and perfectly balanced. ✨ Potpourri Rice Wine Infused with floral aromas and a light, elegant body. Gently sweet and easy to sip—like spring in a glass. Perfect for a delicate toast.

Do not come here. The LIC Jiang Nan is not good. Everything that we got was poorly seasoned or over cooked and it was all way overpriced for the quality. The jelly fish appetizer was the worst i have ever had. Peking duck was just okay. The soup is not bad. The stuffed lotus root dessert was bland. The truffle fried tofu had almost no flavor.

Google
Solid chinese food, especially if you want it to be in a nice looking restaurant (though this is for the LIC location, unsure how the place looks like in Flushing). I like the pecking duck overall, though the canned fruit side dish to enjoy w the roll is a bit off. The veggie is well cooked. I didn't really like the tofu because I was expecting crispy tofu but it is completely soft 🥲 Food is definitely on the more expensive side.

Even though Jiangnan opened nearly a year ago (?!) I only ate here for the first recently despite living reeeeeally close by lol. Our group of 4 had reservations for 6:30 on a Saturday, and when we arrived there were still a handful of tables open. I really loved the overall design of the place -- such a fan of the light colour schema, warm lighting, and minimalist decor. The menu is rather large (and not very specifically focused on a particular type of Chinese cuisine) so it took us a while to decide what to get. - Sliced pork belly with mashed garlic sauce (蒜泥白肉) - this was probably my favourite thing we ordered! The pork belly was so tender and flavourful, and I love how the lighter flavours of that and the cucumber worked with the heavier garlic / chilli flavours in the sauce. Definitely would recommend this (and the portion size for an appetiser was surprisingly large too, definitely worth the value). - Sweet and sour fish (bass) (松子鱸魚) - I really liked the flavour of the sauce, balanced very nicely with the fragrant fish meat. The portion size was pretty reasonable but this was definitely one of the pricer options here. Nonetheless I would recommend! This dish is always a classic. - Braised pork belly in black tea sauce (茶香紅燒肉) - very yummy but nothing that particularly stood out here. The sauce is interesting but a little heavy for my taste. All in all the price point was pretty reasonable - this was a perfect amount of food for the 4 of us and came out to around $30pp in total. I'd love to come back to try their Peking duck sometime (their actual speciality lol)!

Yelp
I reunited with another foodie friend to finally dine in Jiang Nan in Long Island City for NYC restaurant week dinner. The restaurant also had happy hour until 6:30pm so we took advantage of the 50% cocktails and BOGO beers. Jiang Nan offered a $60 dinner that consisted of a tasting from different dishes. This deal also included a glass of wine which in this case was a Cabernet Sauvignon from CA. For appetizers we chose the boiled chicken with chili sauce on the side and the homestyle crispy fish. We enjoyed the crispy fish. The boiled chicken platter was beautifully presented and interactive. For vegetables we chose the baby cabbage in chicken broth and stir fry string bean. For dim sum we had a sampling of steam pork soup dumpling and a peking duck spring rolls, both tasted good when consumed fresh. For the entrees we chose the sweet and sour pork tenderloin and the crispy shrimp with honey walnuts. The Crispy shrimp with honey walnuts were our overall favorite. To end the dining experience we ordered the gluten rice cake with brown sugar and the mango Pomelo with sago. We were not impressed with the mango Pomelo but we did enjoy the gluten rice cake with brown sugar. Service was initially slow, but almost everything came out all at once. Ambiance was bright and pretty. We would definitely return to try the peking duck!!

Yelp
I've eaten at so many Chinese restaurants in my lifetime and Jiang Nan exceeded my expectations in all regards. The area is spacious, bright and clean. There's even larger tables and I could imagine hosting a small party here. My only complaint was the weird american pop music that was playing. It didn't fit the theme at all lol. Not only was their food service FAST, it was also absolutely delicious and flavorful. I've tried many mapo tofus, and theirs was SO good. They used silken tofu that was flavorful and the sauce was delicious with rice. We also had the Buddha's temptation which was a fitting name. It's essentially fish maw chicken broth with a bunch of healthy and yummy food in it. Their beijing duck slapped as well. The carrot bao dimsum was unexpectedly the star - fried, soft, delicious. I can't wait to go back and try the other dishes because I'm pretty sure it'll be amazing as well.

Yelp
Food (5/5): Even the initial salad small plate with tangy hot sauce was good. We ordered the eggplant with minced pork, double cooked fish filet, chili chicken, and sour beef soup. All of the dishes were super delicious! My favorite was the double cooked fish filet due to the nice crispy flavor. It actually paired well with the sour beef sliced soup. Service (5/5): Server was pleasant and helpful when asked. I really enjoyed their attitude and the food came out fast. No issues with getting seated. Ambiance (5/5): Really nice interior ambiance. When entering it already feels upscale with chill music and sleek lighting. You go upstairs and the dining area is super nice. The plates and utensils are set out nicely as well. You can immediately tell that this place is upscale.

Yelp
My favorites were the Chefs Fried Rice & Crab Tofu. Mediocre overall, whole fish was lukrwarm not tasty, soup was lukewarm, Peking Duck skin was not crispy. Wish it can be better given the price is high.

Yelp
The food here is "wow"! I came here for a work dinner and didn't have any thoughts or expectations about what I'd be eating but I really had a terrific meal. Every single thing I ate, I loved. For appetizers we had Peking duck spring rolls, veggie spring rolls and pork soup dumplings and even though I said I was going to eat just one of each, I had multiple. There were eight of us and we ordered a few things to share including the whole Peking duck, some crispy shrimp with honey walnuts and some spicy deep fried spiced chicken with crispy dough twist. Additionally, we had kimchi and cheese fried rice. Everything was so good. I ate way too much of the rice but it was so good and I've never had anything like it. The shrimp was amazing, the chicken was perfect and the duck was irresistible. Really top notch. Service was friendly although not as polished as you would expect at a restaurant with this price point. The biggest issue was with the timing of the food and drinks, especially the drinks. The cocktail menu looked great but none of the drinks lived up to the way they were described in the menu. Additionally, it took over 20 minutes for some of the drinks to come out and they came out one at a time. The last two came out after people who got theirs earlier had almost finished their drinks. That didn't spoil my time, though, because the food was so great. But I would recommend either hiring a professional bartender who can manage cocktails or just streamline the menu so they're not on there. When it takes 15 minutes for a glass of pinot grigio, something's not right. The decor is light and airy and there are lots of windows. Since you're on the second floor of the building, you don't really see cars and traffic so it's really a nice space. Definitely recommend coming here for the food. Focus on that and you'll be happy.

Yelp
Really liked it! The ambiance is extremely pretty with good lighting, ample space, and beautiful tables, and servers were friendly. Not the best Chinese food I have, but still pretty good! Also comes with unlimited refills of a cold, spicy cabbage salad. FOOD: Smashed Eggplant (8/10) - Good flavorful dish that goes really well with rice! Recommend getting this with plain white rice. Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs (6/10) - Honestly wasn't too amazing. Ribs are cooked well but the flavor was not great - also expected this to be the smaller pork ribs.

Yelp
I love Jiang Nan in flushing so I decided to try the LIC location. The decor is so different compared to flushing's. It's minimalistic, simple and light toned while flushing is Chinese. We ordered the fried tofu with truffle oil. I wanted the tofu is be crispier and have a more truffle scent. It was too much on the soft side. The stir fried loofah was decent. I love veggies so anything will do. For the price, not sure... The duck was also decent. Great presentation but for $50 for half a duck, perhaps I'm not a duck lover so I can't justify. Service was good and the place was clean. I'd probably go back to the flushing version however as a whole, I would recommend Jiang Nan for some authentic Chinese food!

Yelp
I've passed by this restaurant on my daily commute to work and finally had the chance to check it out. I came here for lunch and dinner for restaurant week. Beautiful and bright Chinese restaurant, welcoming staff, service was good, and the food was great. The lunch and dinner menu were similar, generous potions, and the food came out quickly. Happy hour is also available until 6:30pm. Cocktail and wine by the glass is 50% off and all beer is buy one get one free. My personal favorites for lunch were the stir-fried sliced beef, home style crispy fish and mixed fruit in yogurt. I thought the cumin lambon sizzling plate was too spicy as well as the spicy & sour shredded potato, but my friend enjoyed it and took the rest home. We both enjoyed the gluten rice cake with brown sugar. For dinner, my friend and I loved the crispy shrimp with honey walnuts. I ordered the home style crispy fish again since I enjoyed it so much for lunch. For dim sum, we both enjoyed the steam pork soup dumplings and peking duck spring rolls. Our least favorite were the baby cabbage in chicken broth, the boiled chicken in chili sauce, and the mango pomelo with sago. The dinner also includes a glass of wine. I'll have to come back and try the peking duck and also check out their other locations. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I recently visited Jiangnan, and I was absolutely impressed! The highlight of the meal was the perfectly roasted duck -- it had a crispy skin and tender, flavorful meat that melted in your mouth. I also tried their xiao long bao (soup dumplings), which were exquisite. The broth inside was rich and savory, and the dough was thin yet strong enough to hold everything together. Not only was the food amazing, but the service was top-notch. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. I definitely recommend Jiangnan for anyone craving delicious traditional Chinese dishes with a modern touch. A fantastic dining experience!

Yelp
Jiang Nan is known for being one of the select few Chinese fusion restaurants recognized on the 2022 Michelin Guide recommended list. Their first location in Flushing has now expanded to LIC. This spot is huge with the elegant and beautiful decor. Their menus take you on a culinary journey through the rich flavors of China, with each dish crafted to perfection. The Peking duck is absolute standout - crispy on the outside , succulent on the inside and so flavorful. And the smoked pork neck meat? Wow. The depth of flavor and the smokiness just melt in your mouth. Plus they have live music for Saturday dinner making it an ideal spot for cozy and romantic evening. We had such a nice experience and definitely will be back. We ordered -Peking Duck -Smoked Pork Neck meat -Stir Fried sliced beef -Sauteed Tofu with crab meat -Smashed peppers with eggplants -Peach gummies with Tremella Follow @spinx17 for more NYC food recs!

Yelp
Beautiful inside, food was also great! We had a large party and they were so easy to work with. Brought everything out fast and really delicious. Loved the Chinese water spinach, cumin lamb, and soup dumplings the most. So good. Would come back again soon!

Yelp
Jiang Nan has been on my list for a while, so I'm happy I finally had a chance to go. Most everything we had was delicious, though there was a misunderstanding with one of the things we ordered. We kept it and actually ended up liking it. The only thing for me is that any dishes marked spicy or more weren't spicy at all for me. However, I can overlook that since everything tasted really good. The restaurant was also super aesthetic. Loved the decor and colors. Staff was attentive and answered questions/offered recommendations. Come in a large group so you can try more things. Sliced beef & ox tripe in chili sauce - 5/5 Salt & pepper crispy duck bones - 4/5 (this was the wrong order, we had wanted the soup) Double cook fish fillet - 3.75/5 Sautéed tofu with crab - 3.5/5

Yelp
I've been to the Chinatown location of this place and loved it! The decor of this location is the complete opposite of the Chinatown location. This one is bright, woody, and light with a lot of plants and greenery. The Chinatown one is dark and more moody. My friend and I were hungry but we took home so many leftovers cause we definitely over ordered: - 1/2 Peking Duck (we also added the $15 for duck bone soup): Both were so good. It came with a lot of pancakes for the Peking Duck. - Eggplant with minced pork: This was soooo good. I love eggplant - Soup dumplings: I don't really care for soup dumplings but my friend wanted them and they were good. I'd definitely come back but maybe not to this location since it's kinda out of the way for me.

Yelp
came here for a nye dinner with my family and despite the restaurant being super busy, had exceptional service! The food is always amazing and very flavorful, but this time we were able to try some of their cocktails as well. Really enjoyed their jasmine baijiu cocktail and lychee martini. Some of our favorite dishes included the mega lamb skewer and their steamed fish. Food came quickly as well

Yelp
Food (3/5) - Came as a party of 4, got a few dishes to share. Had the whole grilled fish, half peking duck, pork neck, and a few rice bowls. It has always bothered me when restaurants don't serve rice with their entrees (culturally, my understanding is you are meant to eat the entrees with rice) but they did heap their bowls here, which I appreciated. Grilled striped bass in aged pickle sauce was a good blend of sweet and sour, fish was a little on the small side. Smoked pork neck was a lot of enjoyable showmanship, the smell of smoked wood is very nice when served. Peking duck was standard, had all the usual trappings, decent portion, pieces are cut pretty small. Price (2/5) - Very steep for a neighborhood with very competitive options in the same cuisine, for all of these dishes. All the renowned entrees would run 50+ to feed 4 people, except for the pork neck which was 26 but was probably only 10 pieces of varying sizes. Grilled fish doesn't come with much, each add on was 3, even for standard vegetables like cabbage. Ambiance and service (3/5) - very bright, even at night, service was generally prompt though they seemed very busy. They must have very hungry patrons, we ordered the recommended amount and had one too many add-ons for our grilled fish.

Yelp
The food here is not bad, but i tried them when they first opened and the service was mediocre. The young teen waiters seemed like they were in Lala Land and not focused. I was the only patrons here with a friend and the food took a while. I mean, if it takes that long, then the food should be PIPING HOT upon arrival. Well...it wasn't. It was room temperature. I would still come back and give them another try to see if there have been improvements because every place deserves a 2nd try. See how things are for yourself.

Yelp
Great food, good service. Parking not easy! They do not have a lot or place to park!!

Yelp
The complimentary pickled veggies were so good they kept them coming and even gave some of us to take home ordered a bunch of dishes and impressed by all. Authentic flavors! Would come back

Yelp
Yum!! My friends and I shared a mix of dim sum and entree dishes, and totaled to be about $30 each for a ton of food!! We shared: glutinous scent pu'er tea - didn't have the most flavor so I would try a different one next time pork soup dumplings 4/5 - not the most soupy; but still tasty mini mushroom buns 3/5 - these were SO cute! the buns looked like mushrooms! the taste was less cute, and it was really just shiitake mushrooms. I dipped it in some dan dan sauce to give it some more flavor. But the bun itself is pillowy! cabbage and pork entree - 5/5 my favorite dish I had here. the cabbage had a great smoky flavor, and the pork was really delish and thin/non-fatty pork pieces. dan dan noodles - 4/5 not the best dan dan i've had but it was still very tasty. wished it were more flavorful or had more chili oil, but the ingredients were rather fresh and the noodles had a nice texture. Great service for lunch - got water refills, even tea refills. A server saw my friend drop her chopsticks and immediately replaced them without us asking! Ambiance is super nice. A very cute space that gets a lot of sunlight which was a plus. Despite some of the dishes not being amazing, the ambiance and service make it a really positive experience, so I'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Food was all very yummy and I would say it's reasonably priced. Decent portion sizes. I've tried the Flushing location as well and quality of food was comparable. The inside is nicely decorated - brightly lit, plenty of seating and walking space. Service was good. They were attentive and friendly.

Yelp
My first time visit! Came here for dinner with a few friends for a night out. The decoration was amazing and it gives great vibe. It's pretty white and elegant, great place for friends gatherings and also some instagram pics. Food is also great! Tastes are amazing & the presentation is pretty as well. The duck was my favorite!

Yelp
I love this restaurant. Good taste and service. Thanks for Daniel's recommendations--they are all delicious. I was enjoying the food even that I forgot to take pictures
google avatar

Kristy L.

Yelp
It was designed with such modern features and the foods looked so instagrammable. The service was great especially when they tried to pour the drinks aesthetically for us to video. The food was pretty good especially the sweet and sour pork ribs. If I have to recommend a good shot of alcohol, definitely order the pineapple beer. It was sweet and just hits in the right spots! The restaurant is great for big groups or a romantic date so check it out!

Yelp
This Jiang Nan location has probably the lowkey atmosphere with good decor. Honestly this place is on the less crowded side so it's super good. Food is super good, lots of flavor and very authentic. I had the flushing one but this location takes the cake. The drinks are too die for and the food has a lot of flavor. 19383/10 would try more on the menu cause the menu is also super cute with lots of dishes. Not enough of me to eat all that food so have to come back.

Yelp
餐厅卫生做得很到位,从桌椅到洗手间都特别干净,用餐体验非常舒适,很放心 。虽然餐厅生意很好,但上菜速度一点都不慢,几乎没有等待太久。服务也是一流的 。还会再次光临 。

Yelp
Jiang Nan has multiple locations across NYC and the ambiance at this LIC location is definitely brighter and more modern in comparison to the traditional decor in Flushing/ dimness of its chinatown location. Peking duck is a must if you come here. We also really enjoyed their braised rice with black truffle and mushrooms - so much umami flavor in addition to some smokiness! Their smoked pork neck was also great. Came here to celebrate a birthday and had our table ready for a reservation of 8 as soon as we arrived. There is no cake fee and they can change the music to play HBD at your request! Pleasant service but there was a slight language barrier

Yelp
Solid spot! We came here with a relatively large party, so got a bunch of different dishes to try. The peking duck was good, but could have used a bit more flavor. I was also surprised to see it served with sugar and pineapple; doesn't feel too traditional to me, but who knows! The sweet and sour pork tenderloin was nice and crispy, but definitely a bit on the sweeter side. Reminded me quite a bit of Panda Express. The chicken with chili pepper was great; super good crisp on the chicken, with a good spice level. The eggplant and string beans were also good and traditional. Service was friendly, but the serving of the actual dishes was a bit off. The rice came after several dishes came out, so we were eating our entrees without the rice. We also ordered the pineapple beer, which was good, but it also took quite a while for it to come out. Not the most authentic, but a good place to go with a larger group!

Yelp
Fast service and nice date-night-esque ambiance! The flavors here are pretty classically Chinese. This restaurant might have more of a Sichuan-leaning flavor profile, but as we didn't try any of the spicier dishes, I can't confirm. The fried vermicelli is super yummy and has depth of flavor! The different components to it all add delicious texture and flavor profile nuance. The honey walnut shrimp is a bit too sweet, saucy, and breaded. The shrimp itself gets a bit lost. The stir fried chicken in latte flavor is super weird and the flavor is rather strange; the coffee flavor comes through, but doesn't really balance the chicken. The texture is also too wet and saucy. This might be a mistake of user error for ordering, but everything offered on the menu should be yummy, right? Do not recommend getting this dish. The smoked brisket is quite yummy! The sweet and savory flavor are married with the smokiness. The texture is a bit dry and leathery at times, however.
google avatar

N T.

Yelp
A spacious restaurant located on second level with bright lighting. Food came out very quick though in strange order with entree coming out long before appetizer. Some dish was very good such as stewed egg though some was bland like the vermicelli. Despite restaurant being quite empty, service lacks where no one checked up on us for water refill or see if we need something. Overall, ok to visit again and hopefully service picks up next time.

Yelp
We went back this past Saturday for dinner with friends. The place was packed, we were seated immediately as we had a reservation. Another pleasant experience with good food and great service. Beside Peking Duck and Smoked Pork Neck Meat, we also tried the following appetizers and dishes: -Steamed Crab Meat & Pork Soup Dumplings -Sliced Pork Belly with Mashed Garlic -Sliced Beef & Ox Tripe in Chile Sauce -Steamed Sliced Barramundi w/ Scallion -Crispy Shrimps w/ Honey Walnuts -Stir-fried Pig Liver -Spicy Shredded Potato -Stir-fried Loofah -Preserved Ham Fried Rice Everything was flavorful and delicious, we didn't feel rushed and really enjoyed the meal.

Yelp
Came to Jiang Nan today after finding out that it was open! Did not have a reservation on a Saturday for lunch but was immediately seated; although an hr into it's opening, the whole place was filled already! Loved the vibe of the place, it's upstairs in this building and had a curved design to the space; all the decors (including the bowls/plates/cups) were so upscale and definitely made the experience more pleasant. The food was pretty good! It's actually my first time being at a Jiang Nan and it was pretty much what I expected from what other people say. We got the vermicelli noodles, which was very yummy. The soup dumplings were some of the best flavors I've had, but there was not enough soup in them; would preferred bigger and more soup in each dumpling. We also got the smoked pork neck, which looked amazing on the menu, but was pretty dry in person; it was not bad but would have been better if it had a dipping sauce. The "smoking" part seems to have not been done correctly compared to other videos here bc it was torched for a whole 60 seconds and never caught fire and we saw minimal smoke...the lychee mangosteen tea was amazing though, definitely recommend! What stood out to me was the service... there were 3 waiters and 1 busboy for the place and most seem to know what they were doing except one waiter. He was standing around and intermittently helping the other waiters but didn't seem to be aware of the situation and was staring at an ipad most of them time...at one point he came to our table and was clearly staring at some dirty/empty plates on a very full table and did not occur to him to remove it (I had to ask him to take the plate). It was also the first time we did not get soup spoons for soup dumpling and had to ask for them...also our dessert was the first thing that came (no one asked if we wanted them with the meal or after the meal). I mean I understand Chinese places don't care much about the order of things as much but even then I would assume dessert is not the first thing that comes out. There were a few other things that were off about the service so hopefully with time it will improve.

Yelp
Jiang Nan has opened up its THIRD location in LIC. I was very excited to try this restaurant as it was recommended by a friend and I loved their extensive menu. Jiang Nan offers more elevated Chinese dying with a beautiful open wooden space, spacious seating and beautifully presented dishes. My party and I ordered the spicy fried chicken, rice, 1/2 peking duck, sauteed pea sprouts, and honey shrimp. The food came out surprisingly quick and was accompanied with complimentary spicy cabbage. The spicy cabbage was to die for; it was pickled and had just the right amount of kick! I wish they gave each person their own dish so we didn't have to keep on asking for refills lol. The peking duck was tasty and came with your typical sides of hoisin, cucumber, leek?, moo shu wrap and surprise: pineapple! The combination was tasty, and the wraps were warm. My only complaints was that the meat to duck skin ratio was not even and that some bits of the wrap was a bit dry. The honey shrimp was okay, a little greasy and nothing to write home about. Given that they are a new establishment, service was quite slow despite the MANY wait staff they had. Many did not know to make eye contact, and they had surprisingly run out of bowls for our rice... so when the food quickly came out it had mostly cooled. Another reason why our rice was so delayed was because there was poor communication. Although they had told us that they had ran out of bowls, they had forgot to actually check in again to see if we had ever gotten our rice/if their bowls had been replenished. Another large complaint is that despite spacious seating, other diners would take up a large portion of the sofa seating for their own personal items. To improve each diner's experience, it would be nice if staff reminded patrons of where to put their jackets/purses/bags/personal items. Overall food was good, but many things took away from the experience.

Yelp
New favorite Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood, and we have a lot of options around here. By far the best (though few alternatives) for Peking Duck in the area. The service was all very friendly, although they're still getting some details together having just opened as I'm assuming some of the staff is new, so won't judge them on that. For being something I thought would be upscale there's also tons of high chairs for the little ones! No complaints jn every dish we ordered, flavor and presentation all met or far exceeded expectations. Ordered the Peking Duck, Salted Tofu w/ crab meat and crispy walnut shrimp, and will happily order each of those again, but we actually went to go back ASAP to try the other dishes. Totally recommend, just be a little forgiving as it's a new staff.

Yelp
First time here! The service is superb! Omgshh--you have to try it! The server was incredibly patient with all our questions. He is very knowledgeable and was able to translate in english for me with no issues. Place was also very clean and the food was handled in a very delicate way. Come and ask for Mia you wont regret it and you will be taken care of with AA++ Service.

Yelp
I made reservation for Saturday evening. The golden chrysanthemum tea was very aromatic and good quality. The soup dumpling was moist but there was only four pieces. The whole Peking duck could have been more crispier and I would like to have a bun instead of the wrapper. The deep fried striped bass with pine nuts in sweet sour sauce tasted wonderful. The sauce was so good with the white rice. We also liked the sauteed eggplant in spicy garlic sauce and sauteed water spinach with fermented bean. All the dishes were seasoned just right and the service was also attentive. The interior of the restaurant was modern. We would like to come back and try other dishes.

Yelp
Where Red Sorghum missed the mark, I found here. Perhaps the litmus test of any Chinese restaurant should be based on how well they do their garlic sliced pork belly (cold). God, you can't ask for a better interpretation. Next up, their sweet and sour tenderloin is great and their hint of osmanthus takes it to new heights Big fan of steamed fish and their barracundi somehow blends a sense of home with a restaurant complexity I really enjoy. Peking duck is fantastic and will need to try new dishes next time. Service is A+ and flips the script on what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant. Kudos to management!

Yelp
Food tasted good and fresh. However I feel like nothing too special. Peking Duck was alright 7/10. Service and ambiance were excellent however. Very fast service. Servers are cool. Would come back again and like to try their other specialties

Yelp
I took my mom here for Mother's Day. We had a reservation thankfully, because it was crowded with groups there. As a group of 4, we shared the peking duck, duck bone soup, soup dumpling, sautéed shrimp, smoked pork neck meat, sautéed eggplant with garlic, and chicken with latte sauce. Everything was delicious. However, like most Chinese restaurants, all of the dishes came out at they were being made. Eventually our whole table was covered in dishes. I would have like some better timing with bring out the dishes. I would definitely come back for the pekin duck.

Yelp
This is my first time here. The food is great, and the environment is very nice. Most importantly, the service at this restaurant was absolutely top-notch! Our server, Tony, was kind, efficient, and always had a warm smile. He made sure we felt welcome and checked in regularly to ensure everything was perfect. His suggestions were spot on, and the genuine care he showed made the entire dining experience unforgettable. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to others!

Yelp
I am a huge fan of the Jiang Nan location in Flushing. My husband and I try to go there at least once every couple of months. We recently had friends in town who were staying in LIC, so we decided to take them to this new(ish) location. The vibe of this location definitely caters to the LIC demographic, understandably. It doesn't even feel like it's remotely related to the one in Flushing. This location is very bright, modern, and minimalist whereas the Flushing location has more of a dark, serene, and dramatic aesthetic with more traditional decor. The staff at the LIC location also seems to be on the younger side, and I could tell that they were still trying to get their bearings in terms of service, which was spotty at times. That being said, the menu is pretty much the same (or very similar) as the Flushing location, and we were very happy with the food overall. The peking duck at Jiang Nan is unparalleled. It's hard to find a better peking duck in NYC, in my opinion, and I've tried many. They have really perfected their technique and successfully manage to produce a very tender and juicy duck that has amazingly crispy skin. They add edible gold leaf to it to elevate the presentation, which is a nice touch, but not entirely necessary. Aside from the duck, we got the whole sea bass in black bean sauce, the lotus roots, and the eggplant with minced pork. The lotus roots were somewhat bland and underwhelming, but the fish and the eggplant were delicious. The portions are very generous, and well worth the price tag. The house drinks were too sweet for me and my husband, so we stuck with soju after the first round. All in all, it was a good experience, and I think this location will be very successful as time goes on and they get the service aspects perfected.

Yelp
Service was extremely slow. They serve a entree vegetable 30 mins into the meal first. 45 mins after we had ordered the appetizers came out. The staff speaks very little english so the language barrier is tough from a communication standpoint, and yes, i'm chinese. Food was mediocre but dressed up in a lot of fancy serving mechanisms with smoke and candles. You're better off taking a cab to elmhurst to eat. It'll be quicker and cheaper. If youre thinking about trying, wait a few months maybe their logistically problems causing delays will have be sorted out.

Yelp
I have to say, this place is awkward. You enter the building, walk up the stairs, are greeted by a 3 foot, stuffed, white peacock. Then you turn to this see-through-brick-room-separator turned host stand. From the outside, I thought that it was the bar, but no, it is not. I would argue it really should be, the status quo is not appealing. It was a Tuesday night and the place was empty. Terrible covers of not-so-great music were playing softly. The lighting is a bit too reminiscent of a dentist's office (very bright). All the tables have an ipad which you order from but there are these first few pages where you can add items if you are a member? (I don't know? They tried to sell us a membership). Moving on from awkward. We picked about 6 menu items: tongue, chicken, egg, greens, prawns, a little bit of everything. Nothing was very spicy but to be honest I'm not sure if they were supposed to be spicy or we were just given toned down spices. The flavors were good though! And the portion sizes were just right, we finished almost everything. The wine that they had was also not bad, I chose a nice, crisp Sauvignon blanc. We also tried one of their desserts which was mushroom and what appeared to be a rehydrated plum and devoured it in about 1 minute. Our final ruling of the ipad was that it actually was convenient. We never had to chase down a waiter, we pressed a button and bing! the drink was on our table or bing! the check was brought to us. I'm sure it's not as bing-y if it's busy but it really worked out that evening. We live across the street and so will probably come again, but I would love to give my two cents on the ambiance.

Yelp
I really like the decoration style of this restaurant. The environment is comfortable and pleasant. The dishes are rich and varied, and the taste is delicious. I especially recommend their signature dishes. It is definitely worth the money. The service attitude is also very good, making people feel at home.

Yelp
Great service and ambiance, but very pricey food for very small portions! Some dishes are really authentic and delicious, but not the Peking duck!

Yelp
Been to the jersey city and flushing location and both were really good! Tried the LIC location and it didn't disappoint. Peking duck is always delicious and consistently good. Also love their chicken soup. Quick and attentive service and dining area is pretty roomy.
