Jilli - Review - Mission - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"There are plenty of bars in the Mission, but only at Jilli can you get a makgeolli flight, rigatoni alla kimchi vodka, and popcorn chicken all in one go. Go to this lively Korean drinking spot (and LA transplant) to sip on some milky rice wine, swap the week’s highlights, and split a few snacks before heading to dinner in the area—focus on that rigatoni or the creamy tuna dip, and skip the too-fatty pork jowl. Aside from a secluded back patio, it’s pretty small, so plan ahead with a reservation. video credit: Julia Chen Food Rundown Rigatoni Alla Kimchi Vodka The best dish here—we wish it was double the size. It packs a creamy punch with the velvety, bacon-dotted sauce (but doesn’t have the expected spice from the kimchi). photo credit: Jessie Clapp Tuna Dip + Trout Roe A great option for the table. Making perfect little bites of tuna dip and roe on the provided crackers is one of our preferred ways to spend a night. photo credit: Jessie Clapp Chimmelier Popcorn KFC Solid, but nothing you’ll be thinking about by the time you leave. photo credit: Jessie Clapp Pork Jowl Jeyuk The pork has a nice smokiness from the charcoal grill, but it’s overwhelmed by fat. PlayMute video credit: Julia Chen Shrimp Toast These bite-sized shrimp toasts are the deep-fried, umami snack you want at a drinking spot like Jilli. No complaints. photo credit: Jessie Clapp Cheese Tteokbokki There’s a definite kick. You’ll just have to use your chopsticks to wade through a mass of torched cheese to find the actual rice cakes. Google
Came here for dinner with friend and it was such a nice spot. If you want something new and creative with Korean food but in more of a fine dining vibe, I’d definitely recommend it. We sat on the patio and the atmosphere was super cozy and aesthetic. Lots of great tapas-style dishes that pair well with drinks. The portions aren’t too big, so it’s perfect for ordering a few plates to share and try different flavors.

Google
We had a great experience at Jilli last night! First and foremost, the food is great - their dishes are just the right kind of exemplary fusion Korean street food which will satisfy both the ones who are searching for legit Korean food and the ones who are looking for something experimental. Price is also reasonable. Their space is hip and cozy - good for casual date nights and social with friends. I would definitely revisit!

Google
Jilli was amazing!! I went twice already! I had honey butter chip, tuna dip + trout roe, fried chicken, shrimp toast, wagyu yukhoe, pork jowl jeyuk, rose tteokbokki, rigatoni alla kimchi vodka, diy salmon kimbap, and perilla oil noodle. Everything was seasoned right and they all tasted authentic (which is sooo important) yet creative and new at the same time! Jilli's selection of Makgeolli was actually the best i've had. all the staff was very nice and the vibe is great. great date spot, and a great dinner and sipping spot for a small group of friends too. would recommend 10/10 would come back! must try menu: perilla oil noodle, pork jowl jeyuk, wagyu yukhoe, shrimp toast. must try drinks: nasung jilli makgeolli, sang takju, hana yakju

Google
Had an amazing dinner with friends at this cozy new tapas bar in SF! I’m so glad the city has a spot like this. We shared shrimp toast, tteokbokki, pork jowl jeyuk, kimchi rigatoni, and perilla oil noodles — every dish was bursting with flavor. The makgeolli selection was also on point, offering a great variety of Korean-style rice wines that paired perfectly with the food. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for creative Korean-inspired small plates in a relaxed, vibrant setting!

Google
Lots of unique flavors, amazing service and atmosphere! Definitely try it out! I am definitely going back for more of that peppery tteokboki, honey butter crisps and pork jowl!!

Google
Food here are amazing!! Every dish hits the spot and service is also wonderful. Definitely need to try makgeolli (korean rice wine) - very unique + pairs well with the dishes. The servers are very attentive, polite, and make sure everything was just right throughout our meal. Highly recommend!!!

Google
This is hands down the best Korean restaurant & bar in SF! They offer a wide variety of makgeolli (Korean style rice wine) paired with delicious Korean dishes. The interior is super cute and cozy - I absolutely loved the vibe. The servers were incredibly friendly and took the time to explain both the food and drinks with great care. Everything was amazing. I can’t wait to come back for lunch to try their chicken burger next time! Highly recommend!

Google
Checked out the pop up and oh my it was so delicious! The fried chicken sandwich was so juicy and delicious! The perilla leaf in it? Chefs kiss! The honey butter chip was so yummy, I could eat a whole giant basket. Really enjoyed the shrimp toast as well! Really excited for Jilli to fully open and enjoy a night out here! The space was super cute too, loved the outdoor patio!

Yelp
Love love love this Korean tapas bar!! It's finally so great to have an authentic Korean bar that's also super aesthetically pleasing. All the flavors are on point and I love the ambiance inside. Perfect spot for a date night also. I'll definitely be coming back very soon when the weather is good to drink some Korean alcohol at the outdoor sitting.

Yelp
I really loooved my experience here! Came here with friends on a Friday night and there were so many parties waiting outside for a table so I highly recommend making a reservation. The interior is super cute and vibes are chill. The day we went was the first time they opened up the back patio (which had heaters), so the waiters were still working out some operational kinks. Service was still super great though. For drinks, we got to share: - Makgeolli Flight - a bottle of White Lotus (a type of Makgeolli) - Jinmaek Soju - Yangchon Chungju White Lotus was on the sweeter side (our waiter recommended), and they didn't include it in the Makgeolli Flight so if you like sweeter alc I'd recommend this one. Jinmaek Soju isn't something you can find readily in the bay area, and we were told they imported it directly from Korea. It definitely tastes a lot more layered and complex than the popular soju you usually find at kbbq/ korean restaurants in the bay. Yangchon Chungju was also imported from Korea (also something you can't find easily in the bay!) For food, we shared: - pork jowl jeyuk - honey butter chip - shrimp toast - cheesey tteokbokki The pork jowl was SO good I highly recommend! The tteokbokki was very unique and on the peppery side (a bit spicy). Shrimp toast and honey butter chip were very yummy as well. All the food we got was really good :') but my personal favorite was the pork jowl. I will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
I made reservations a month in advance. Otherwise the restaurant itself is fairly small. If you show up at 5 pm, you might get seated on the counter. One of sfs highly anticipated Korean pub originated from LA. The drinks were quite pricey for what it is. A flight was $40 and a glass of Korean makgeoli was around $19-20 a glass. The food portions were small. We ordered a few things all of which was okay, nothing that stood out. Many of the dishes you can probably whip up together at home. Give the place a try and lmk what you think!

Yelp
I was expecting to love this, but ended up being underwhelmed by the food. But the makgeolli we got was great. So come here for the drinks, but not necessarily the food. We got: Cucumber salad - Not a fan of the gochujang style sauce it came with. Shrimp toast - Fine but shrimp toast for some reason I never love, somehow I feel like the shrimp lacks enough flavor and you miss the benefit of the shrimp texture and the fried aspect makes it too heavy. Wagyu beef tartare - I don't know why but I didn't love it. Something about the flavor and texture just didn't work for me. Chimmelier popcorn kfc - This was okay, as noted in the name it's more of a popcorn chicken (smaller chunks) than traditional kfc. Pork jowl jeyuk - This was good, my favorite dish. Tender flavorful pork. Rigatoni alla kimchi vodka - Not my pick and not my fave, I don't like the creamy sauce.

Yelp
4.5 stars. The vibes of this place are amazing! Came here for a half-dinner and light drinks and was not disappointed. The decor, lighting, and ambiance of this place is unmatched. What we ordered: + Cheese Tteokbokki (5/5) + Popcorn KFC (4/5) + Cucumber Salad (4/5) + Makgeolli Flight (4/5) I thought the Cheese Tteokbokki was delicious and totally worth it. It comes with an ample amount of rice cakes and is so flavorful!! The other dishes were just okay for me-- I don't think the popcorn chicken was good enough to warrant the price of $25 and the cucumber salad was interesting but a bit small. The Makgeolli Flight was also good but definitely not worth $40. I did think service was totally amazing! They were professional, attentive, and kind. 6/5 stars for them. Even though the ambiance of the place is amazing, I thought the portion size and quality of the dishes we ordered were lower quality, hence the -1 star. I would definitely come back to order more of the dishes recommended by other people to see if those warrant the higher price. :)

Yelp
I came here with the boys on a Wednesday at 7 pm and fortunately they were able to seat us at the bar area since they had some openings. The vibes were great, definitely a soju bar with some good bar bites. The food is definitely think bar food not actual food that can fill you up. It can definitely add up and be pricey but worth for the vibes. The makeoli brewed in LA, was really good and refreshing. Definitely better than the store bought up. Definitely a must visit if looking for someplace new!

Yelp
Loved loved the maekgolli and food here at Jilli! I came a little skeptical as many of the hyped new Asian, tapa-style restaurants in SF haven't lived up expectations but Jilli turned out to be so fun with yummy, elevated bar food! I came with one other friend without a reservation early on a Friday and ended up getting a table about an hour later. I'd definitely recommend a reservation if you have a larger party as we saw many people getting turned away walk-in a later in the evening. We ordered the maekgolli flight which included 4 types of maekgolli, 2 that were a bit more spirit-forward and 2 that were more mixed drinks with one being a matcha banana blend which we loved! For food, we got the ~ - Kimchi Vodka Rigatoni: So so good with a nice spicy kick! This was my favorite dish of the night and I would come back just for this. Love that there's kimchi and bacon in the sauce which adds so much flavor and the pasta is just perfect. - Shrimp Toast: Really yummy shrimp toast with a nice spicy dipping sauce. The minced shrimp filling is super flavorful with nicely toasted milk bread. - Tuna Dip + Trout Roe: Great drinking food, creamy tuna dip with saltine and ritz crackers. The tuna dip is smooth and nicely seasoned. I do like tuna salad with more texture but this was nice as an app. - Jja Jang Poutine: Crispy fries with a black bean sauce gravy and mozzarella cheese. After getting the other carb heavy dishes as well, this one felt like a bit much but the fries were really good. Thinly cut and super crispy and the sauce was nice to dip into. I actually loved the fries with the spicy vodka sauce from the rigatoni. Everything was delicious and I'd recommend coming with more people so you can share a bunch of dishes, especially since the food can be on the heavier/carb-y side. Service was super friendly and very attentive! They're still in their soft opening but we felt so welcomed and everything was on point!

Yelp
This place is definitely pretty pricey for what you're given, but the vibes are good and the food is tasty. They're really busy and we weren't able to get a table the first time we came so we made a reservation. We ordered the Pork jowl jeyuk, Tuna dip + trout roe, Perilla oil noodle, Chimmelier popcorn kfc and Rigatoni alla Kimchi Vodka. I especially liked the pasta- the kimchi gave it a fun flavor. The popcorn chicken was a little dry, but the sauce helped a little. The service really stood out and the inside of the restaurant is well-decorated and cozy.

Yelp
Loved almost every dish we ordered here! We have been trying to make it to Jilli for some time now but it seems like they're often pretty booked! At least if you book online that is. I recommend giving them a call to check for availability! We ordered the shrimp toast, Popcorn Korean Fried Chicken, Perilla Oil Noodles and Wagyu Yukhoe. Honestly, everything was delicious but I was expecting a bit more from their Popcorn KFC. I guess I was just expecting the flavors of the fried chicken to have more of a "Korean" flavor but it didn't stand out to me. Such a cool dinner spot for a group hangout or a girls night out :) Will stop by again to try their flights.

Yelp
Wasn't able to secure a reservation so, walked in and arrived at 6:15pm on a Friday planning to meet friends here at 6:30pm for dinner. They were able to secure a table for my group at 7pm. So we headed to flying pig down the street for a drink while we waited for our table. Drinks: Menu has a selection of makgeolli as well as beer, wine, soju and n/a options. Offering seem to change pretty quickly so they refered us to the QR code menu Food: Spicy Cucumber Salad - pretty standard, large pieces of cucumber served with a mild gochujang dressing, a light and refreshing start to the meal Honey Butter Chips - served warm in a cone, thick cut potatoe chips glazed with honey butter, these were sticky, crunchy, sweet and buttery a great snack DIY Salmon Kimbap - solid, steamed short grain rice topped with soy marinated raw salmon and nori sheets so you can make your own hand roll, fun and interactive, wish the nori was a bit crispier and the salmon had a little more seasoning but otherwise a solid dish Popcorn KFC - a nice sized portion, pieces were bite size crunchy with bits of lacey batter to add more texture, no greasiness which was a plus but ate a touch dry, the dipping sauce and the soy marinated daikon pickle added a nice contrast, dusted with a light red pepper seasoning and garnished with fried perilla leaves which added great pops of flavor Cheesey Tteokbokki - spicy but great flavor, rice cakes had a nice chew, mozzarella added a nice stretchy texture and a bit of creaminess, lots of sauce and a few pieces of fish cake as well, if you like spice this one is for you Service was great staff was friendly and attentive, water was refilled throughout our meal. Dishes felt well paced. Fun lively vibe. Overall enjoyed Jilli, a fun new spot for Korean tapas, menu has a solid variety would plan for 2 dishes per person worth a try if you can get there early to secure a spot or try to book a reservation if you want to visit.

Yelp
Cute Korean tapas spot in the Mission at the corner of 15th and South Van Ness. They recently opened and are already killing it! They're literally always booked and it's no surprise. They've got amazing tapas, great drinks and the vibes are subtle and calming, like you walked into an R&B time warp....we got the Pork Jowl, kimchi ala vodka, shrimp toast (hellla bomb), KFC and poutine fries. Everything was superb. Def recommend for date night or out with a group of friends. Come check them out and they recently just opened the patio so way more space! Service is excellent, they check on you consistently. The owners are amazing too. Good job Jilli.

Yelp
4.5/5 but will round up to 5 because service was great. Cute little spot near north mission - not great for groups (would rec 4 and under ppl). Cute interior with vibey lighting. Food menu is solid - we tried: Shrimp toast 5/5 - would highly recommend this Korean fried chicken 3/5- a little dry and nothing special. This reminded me more of popcorn chicken more than Korean fried chicken. Ttekboki with cheese - 4.5/5 great flavor and I like that they had the fish cake slices in it, but SPICY Pork jowl 5/5- cooked so good and the sauces that come with it pair very nicely We got 2 flights because there was a pop up special with Swrl which is a new canned makgeolli company that is carbonated and lower calories. I actually really liked the yuzu and earl grey one. They are much lighter and less creamy than traditional makgeolli but I would get a few cans of these. They also are much lower in abv. Only thing is on the menu the flight was 18$ but later I realized our bill said 20$. Bill and menus should align properly imo (especially since menu is online as QR code and not printed). Their own flight was very good - 2 white rice one brown rice and one black rice makgeolli. Each one had different notes and it was fun tasting them all! Would definitely recommend the flight. Overall I would definitely come back ! Their flights change so I want to come back to try another flight with different makgeolli options !

Yelp
I love makgeolli, and since it's not super common in the city, I was really excited to finally try this spot. It's a small place, so def make a reservation. I got turned away once without one. -Shrimp toast was crispy, flavorful, and came with an addictive chili vinaigrette (used it on everything). -Pork jowl jeyuk was tender and perfectly charred. Must order. -Kimchi vodka rigatoni was delish but a bit salty so would try again with burrata. -Popcorn KFC was fried well, but just okay for me. I usually prefer bone-in chicken and bigger pieces of the pickled radish. Drinks were great! Loved the floral Seoul Night Soju and the Nasung Makgeolli which was lightly sweet, bubbly, super refreshing. Service was amazing. The owner + staff were so kind and gave great recs. Will definitely come back once the menu expands to try more!

Yelp
I was SO excited for Jilli to open up in SF! I used to love the Koreatown LA location and was missing the Korean tapas experience. I managed to snag a reservation for a weekday evening to check them out with a friend! We ordered Rigatoni Alla Kimchi Vodka and Chimmelier Popcorn KFC. I loved the pasta! It was cooked perfectly al dente, and the creamy sauce had such a variety of flavors. The popcorn chicken was good, but I do wish that they had full chicken wings like they do in LA rather than only popcorn chicken. I also ordered a glass of makgeolli--I can't remember which one I ordered, but it was DELICIOUS. I wish I could try the flight to sample more types. The ambiance and service were both amazing! The vibe is fantastic for either a date night or girl's night--I love the mood they have created, and the TV shows are a fun addition. I also loved our servers; they were super attentive and sweet. Definitely check this place out!

Yelp
Was so excited to try this place after watching all these food influencers rave about it but left feeling disappointed. They have an outdoor area in the back, not sure if it's for people waiting or if they're only grabbing drinks, but the door was left open the entire time so I felt the cold breeze throughout our entire meal. We had an 8 reservation and they were already sold out of a few of their items and some items on the menu are only available on friday/sat. We ordered the shrimp toast, perilla noodles, kimchi rigatoni with the added burrata, and the pork jowl. Neither of us cared for the shrimp toast-- it was super oily and that was all I could taste. The perilla noodles were refreshing and light and my friend enjoyed the kimchi pasta. The pork jowl was tender but was hard to eat with the small, stiff pieces of romaine. When they say tapas, they really mean tapas size. The portions were a lot smaller than what the IG foodies were advertising. The server recommended ordering two dishes per person so that's what we did but ended up leaving still hungry. Also, be prepared to spend 10-15 minutes trying to find parking

Yelp
Cute place. Love having Korean tapas to share. Fave dishes were the korean fried chicken, and the honey butter chips! Korean fried chicken - one of the better fried chicken in San Francisco for sure! Well flavored, just the perfect amount of crispiness, and lots of meat! Honey butter chips - $8 but I thought it was delicious. It reminded me of truffle chips. A bit oily, but for homemade it was the perfect level of crunch and crispness. Flavoring was great. Rigatoni alla kimchi - Pretty delicious as well because it didn't have much kimchi flavor (I'm not a fan of kimchi). Just gave rigatoni with an Asian twist. Pork jowl - I loved the smokiness but half the pork was fat, so that was a turn off. Shrimp toast - Not my favorite dish. The texture was not for me, The place was cozy and cute, and dishes came out fast! Good service. You can pay via your phone at the end (QR Code on receipt).

Yelp
Best hood in the city? IMO, The Mission. Esp for food, dranks, nightlife, and diversity. From cheap eats to Michelin star fine dining, and everything in between they got it and more. And, now The Mission has gotten even better with the arrival of LA based Jilli, a modern sool jib (drinking spot). Jilli soft opened over the weekend, taking over the Khamsa space. Rezzies on Resy are highly recommended. The patio wasn't ready yet but they kindly accommodated us since we don't mind dining without heat lamps. M E N U An-ju, Korean tapas with a modern fusion twist. They source harder to find soju, rice wine, and makgeolli (fizzy Korean rice wine). Note: During the day, the space operates as a pop-up location of Chimmelier, a LA based business known for their KFC sandwiches. D R I N K S * Yangchon ChungJu ($34): https://tinyurl.com/mryafurj My first choice (soju) was sold out so the owner kindly brought over two bottles for us to sample. This amber color brewed rice wine is similar to sake. It had a nice earthy savory flavor with a touch of sweetness. F O O D * Shrimp Toast: Deep fried minced shrimp on a toast w/ chili vinaigrette ($16): https://tinyurl.com/5f6rstwe A Korean-Chinese dish made famous by celebrity chef Lee Yeon Bok (Seoul), the menbosha is deliciously crispy and savory with a tangy dipping sauce. Great flavor and texture. * Wagyu Yukhoe w/ gim mayo, fried scallion, parm, potato chips ($25): https://tinyurl.com/d5a3hdx9 Creative twist on the traditional Korean steak tartare, instead of a savory sweet seasoning, they use roasted seaweed mayo which adds a savory and earthy flavor. Served with crunchy housemade chips as a vessel. * Rigatoni alla Kimchi Vodka w/ washed kimchi, bacon, cheese ($22): https://tinyurl.com/j8fs2byw - Add burrata (+$4) Perfectly al-dente, the kimchi vodka rigatoni was so deliciously satisfying. Flavorful and umami-rich with a mildly spicy tang. Def add the burrata for a creamy softness. * Hangjeongsal: Pork Jowl w/ salsa verde ($30): https://tinyurl.com/5n8w6ktz On the night we visited, they had hangjeongsal (pork jowl) instead of samgyupsal (pork belly). Sous-vide then charcoal grilled, the pork jowl was rich and fatty with a smoky charred flavor. Served with a creamy herbaceous salsa verde. Wished they included lettuce to make wraps. S E R V I C E Positive vibes all around, the owner Hwangha (sp?) and our server, Meagan were so sweet and attentive. Prompt food service. A M B I A N C E Modern, cozy spot with nice patio area sigh greenery. 80s and 90s jams playing. P A R K I N G Challenging street parking. Nearest lot is at 14th and Mission (5 min walk). Overall, Jilli is an awesome addition to the city offering things you can't even find in Santa Clara, the hub for K food. If you're looking for fun place for K dranks and delicious tapas....Jilli!

Yelp
I'm a certified Jilli fan! I visited during their soft opening this weekend and loved everything from the food to the service and decor. My friend and I ordered the honey butter chips, pork jowl jeyuk, rigatoni alla kimchi vodka, and the yuja makgeolli and it was the perfect amount of food for the two of us. They had so many different types of makgeolli which was cool to see, and the yuja one we ordered was delicious and complimented the food very well. We were treated to a sample of a matcha makgeolli as well, which was yummy and I look forward to trying it if it makes it on the menu eventually. Our servers Megan and Jillian gave us great recommendations and were super friendly. The owner Hwanghah stopped by all the tables to say hi, which was a nice personal touch. I can tell so much effort and love went into creating Jilli, so congrats to the entire team! I thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes we ordered, although if I had to pick one, the rigatoni was a standout. I will definitely be back! 감사합니다 꼭 다시 올게요~

Yelp
Food was amazing, definitely closer to the fusion, trendy Korean than Korean traditional. The flavors are definitely unique and you probably wouldn't be able to find it elsewhere. Honey butter crispy potato goes really well with any alcohol and ttekboki was peppery and it was my true favorite. Pork jowl was also amazing, loved the chimichurri served with it!!
google avatar

Marshall Y.

Yelp
The perilla oil noodles has nice texture and loads of flavor. Did not disappoint Fried chicken is thick breaded style, nice with the sauce Tteokbokki has marinara or something in addition to the gochujang. Really like the creamy consistency and clam flavor fun that they serve the makgeolli in one of those light gold aluminum kettles which is how i've seen it served in korea would love to try their cocktails next time

Yelp
4.5/5, but I will round up to 5 because the flavors were solid - the only thing keeping me from giving 5/5 are the small portion sizes =( Very solid spot for Korean tapas. The vibe is pretty energetic and intimate. While they area makgeolli + tapas bar, we did not order any makgeolli and came just for the food. We ordered a bunch of dishes and pretty much everything was a hit: - perilla oil pasta - this was a really good cold noodle dish, sad that this is just a seasonal item - beef tartar - probably the weakest of all the things we ordered, but still pretty good - poutine fries - pretty solid, but could use more sauce - pork jowl jeyuk - IGNORE WHAT THE INFATUATION SAID, THIS WAS FIRE. BEST DISH OF THE NIGHT (just wish they gave you more than just 2 pieces of lettuce to wrap...) - Rigatoni alla kimchi vodka - another fire dish. highly recommend - cheese tteboki - pretty solid with a good amount of spice. just wish they gave you more rice cakes... Overall, a very very solid spot and I would come back, but would emphasize that the portions are small so don't come too hungry or just be prepared to order a lot to get full. Service was very good as well. In a slightly sus neighborhood so I would not recommend walking there.

Yelp
Cute new spot with Korean shareables. Really liked the crispy Korean chicken and the pork jowl. Lots of rice wines to try as well. They will have an expanded menu shortly. Can definitely be busy so snag a reservation if you can!

Yelp
Amazing Korean inspired food which recently opened up in San Francisco. They are an LA based franchise and I'm glad they now have a San Francisco branch. We ordered the honey potato chips which was delicious. We ended up ordering two plates - very crispy, crunchy and the honey drizzle tasted great. I also ordered the vegetarian rigatoni kimchi vodka sauce pasta. The flavor was on spot, I couldn't taste any kimchi, but the pasta was overall very delicious and creamy. My friends also ordered the shrimp toast and Korean friend chicken and they absolutely loved it. I would recommend trying this cozy and yummy Korean spot in the mission before it gets too popular and hard to find a reservation. The service was excellent and their limoncello soju drink was yummy.

Yelp
Fun and new Korean tapas place. Spent a little early birthday dinner with my girlfriends here and we had a good time. Though a bit small and dimly lit, the place is decorated like a real pocha. We ordered the cucumber salad, shrimp toast, chimmelier popcorn chicken, rigatoni alla kimchi vodka and perilla oil noodle. My personal faves were the rigatoni, which had a delicious creamy sauce (get the burrata!) and the perilla noodles which were bouncy and strong in perilla oil flavor. My friend and I also shared a makgeolli flight, and the owner came by to introduce each one to us. She was very sweet and even gave us complimentary hangover jellies lol. The place was a bit loud so maybe not the best for a night of yap and catchup, but definitely would come again for a fun night out before bar hopping in the mission.

Yelp
I came here yesterday for dinner and really enjoyed it! We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to accommodate us. We ordered the pork jowl, honey butter chips, ttebokki, rigatoni, popcorn chicken, and perilla oil noodles. Everything was on point except the popcorn chicken which I didn't like as much. I particularly liked the perilla oil noodles. The prices here are pretty steep. But I would highly recommend giving it a try.

Yelp
As a native Angeleno who has spent many years in Koreatown Los Angeles, I was so excited to have a pocha -- let alone a maggeoli-focused pocha! -- open in SF. Initially a drink for the working class, maggeoli is having its moment and there are many small batch, upscale brands of maggeoli now available. Jilli brings all that goodness into maggeoli flights, along with their own house brand. This isn't your traditional green bottle maggeoli (though that is still a classic favorite). If you get a bottle of maggeoli, it's served the traditional way, in the gold tin kettle and bowls (all my kdrama fans know this is the OG way to drink maggeoli!). The staff is attentive and explains traditional details of maggeoli and the food. Maggeoli is best paired with some fried foods, and Jilli's offerings don't miss a beat. The homemade honey butter chips need to be pried away from me, but the shrimp toast is also delicious. The jjajjang poutine also hits the spot and is a perfect drinking companion. The KFC -- Korean Fried Chicken is also super tasty and crispy. It's not your typical yangyeom saucy style, but I like that you dip it yourself, so it stays crispy. The rigatoni (add buratta) is also super tasty, but my favorite carby dish is the perilla oil noodles. I could polish off a bowl of these all on my own. The perilla leaves make this dish light and refreshing. I'm so happy to see this place thriving in a neighborhood I frequent. It's so nice to see a variety of Korean food, apart from the usual k-bbq places. Now we just need a good gukbap place in the city... I'd love to see a rainy day special come winter, of a jeon dish + maggeoli (IYKYK ;)

Yelp
We lucked out getting a same day reservation on a Friday evening (they're fully booked for the next month!) and couldn't wait to try this place. They're still in the soft opening phase and let us know once they fully open they'll have a lot of cocktails and more on the menu. The place is small but so cute and has a great relaxed but refined vibe with Korean cartoons projected above the bar. The staff there was SO welcoming and friendly and really lovely. They recommended 2-3 dishes per person and we ordered 5 - the KFC, tartare, jeyuk, shrimp toast, and kimchi rigatoni (with burrata added of course). The tartare was delicious - not the typical yukhoe flavor it had seaweed and grated cheese on top. The honey chips that came with it were so good too! My favorite was unexpectedly the shrimp toast - so flavorful and came with a great chili sauce. Rigatoni was in a nice red vodka type sauce and jeyuk was tender and the gochujang sauce was really good. KFC was standard and a large portion. It ended up being too much food for us (and we are pretty good eaters lol) so I would say take into account that the jeyuk and KFC are large tapas when ordering. We also tried the makgeolli flight - it included Hana makgeolli, white lotus, yakju, forbidden takju. I had never seen the yakju (Chardonnay type clear makgeolli) or the takju (purple with berries) before - very interesting to try! However as the server said the white lotus is by far the best - definitely agree so if you're looking to just try one get that one (it's more the traditional makgeolli style with floral notes). The pot de crème dessert sounded so good but we were too full to try! Next time!

Yelp
The food took a bit longer than expected, and I felt that some items were overpriced -- for example, the pork jowl was $35, kimchi plastar was $27, and shrimp toast was $16( small 5 pcs.) The service mainly consisted of just bringing the food to the table, without much interaction. The ambiance was nice, but unfortunately, the restroom was not clean. There was even a noticeable blood stain on the toilet seat, which was quite concerning.

Yelp
Love the food and vibe in this Korean tapas bar. People are friendly, it was cool to try makgeolli The honey butter chip and kimchi pasta are my fav. Will revisit soon :)

Yelp
Ok, first off I will say that this place is not... cheap. But everything is so well done and delicious! The cold noodles omg were so so good and incredible. Some of the best I've had. Rigatoni is great too! Nice cozy atmosphere. I think they can turn down the music volume just a bad, but not a big deal.

Yelp
Came here for their soft opening day and was really excited to try it since this is one of the only makgeolli-focused restaurants in the area. I really liked the atmosphere -- the inside was super cute and ambiance was great (it gave chic pocha vibes). There were definitely some hiccups during the experience though, like us getting the wrong order, some of the food being underseasoned or overcooked, and no makgeolli available to purchase. They made it up to us by giving us a dish on the house which I appreciated. Overall, I would come back once they've improved on their execution of cooking and service.

Yelp
If you have not eaten at Jilli, you're seriously missing out. The tapas here are creative, full of flavor, and clearly made with love. Each dish feels like a little celebration -- from the perfectly balanced textures to the bold, thoughtful ingredients. Highly recommend the perilla noodles, pork jeyuk and friend chicken -- absolute must-tries. Support local, support women in food, and treat yourself to some of the best bites SF has to offer.

Yelp
As a Korean, I would say Makgeolli is authentic. Our server was very nice and my friends overall had a great time. I would recommend if you want to get tipsy but can't give up the good food.

Yelp
So so good!! Food was great (went with our server's recs) and service was super nice and accommodating. Great vibes, a bit small so make a res. Lots of makgeolli options! - pork jowl: tender and balanced meat to fat ratio, well-seasoned and juicy - kimchi rigatoni: added burrata; good but not as great as the others - popcorn kfc: our fav! Juicy chicken thigh and great seasoning. Juicy and not too heavy

Yelp
Chicken was unexpectedly delicious. Kimchi rigatoni was scrumptious and same as their LA location. Mostly makgeolli drinks, not soju. More of a tapas place and portions seem smaller than LA location. Limited seating so highly rec getting a resy.

Yelp
Nice vibes and great service. Food standouts were the shrimp toast, rigatoni, and Korean fried chicken.

Yelp
It's a cool place and everything we had tasted solid... but to be honest, the portions were so small considering the price. What turned me off though is that we ordered the poutine fries and the sauce part was great and tasty but it only covered half the fries and seemed pretty bare when you compare to photos. So we asked them if they could ladle a bit more of the sauce over the other half of the fries that was bare and they told us they would charge us another 4.50. I was a bit taken aback considering I felt like we were gypped with the fries... so though the food was good... the portions were pricey and was turned off by the fries response... not a pro customer experience...

Yelp
If you're in SF and don't visit Jilli, you're definitely missing out. It's an adorable, intimate Korean-inspired tapas bar where the vibe surprises you first, and then the food amazes you. Every dish is playful, tasty, and beautifully done--I was honestly sad I couldn't try the whole menu. And whatever you do, don't skip the 막걸리makgeolli pairing... it's absolute chef's kiss!

Yelp
This special new restaurant just opened, and I couldn't be happier. It's a fantastic addition to the Mission. The menu is Korean fusion--creative, bold, and flawlessly executed. Everything is served tapas-style, so you can try a bit of everything. The potato chips were a standout--crispy and packed with flavor. We loved the rigatoni and Korean fried chicken too: rich, savory, and totally satisfying. They've got a great makgeolli selection, and we were lucky enough to try a special cocktail made with beet--it was earthy, slightly sweet, and dangerously smooth. Reservations are already booking up, so grab a table while you can! Jilli is a gem.

Yelp
The Maekgolli flight was worth it. The chestnut flavor was our favorite. Nice owner, good service. Pork jowl was a little dry. Chicken was the best dish. Ambiance was chill, good music and they had some cartoon from Asia playing on a projector

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere, the food was delicious, and the makgeolli was unique and refreshing! My partner and I tried multiple dishes, with the stand outs being the perilla oil noodles and rigatoni alla kimchi vodka. Both dishes had distinct Korean flavors but re-interpreted in fresh, innovative ways. Really enjoyed the food and the service was wonderful. Our servers were attentive and friendly. The food was brought out quickly and we were really satisfied with the dishes. The Dooli cartoon projected on the wall was also a blast from the past. Loved it!

Yelp
We were really missing a mageoli place in SF. so I'm SO appreciative of the food, drinks, and vibes at Jilli. It's a cozy spot and I just loved the decor (reminded me of Korea a lot with its plates, signs, and dooli tv show playing). The service was impeccable and I could tell the founder was really on top of making everyone's experience perfect. Just go- you'll have a wonderful time with your date, friends; and family.

Yelp
Great spot to grab drinks and catch up with friends! Reservations are tough to snag, but if you show up right when they open, they keep 5 bar seats available for walk-ins. Love the cozy vibes, plus they have a cute outdoor area that looks like it'll be opening soon. We sampled several types of makgeolli and this fantastic soju spritzer (?) that hit the spot. Food-wise, the kimchi-vodka rigatoni was a standout. It paired perfectly with our drinks and had just the right amount of kick!

Yelp
Amazing chicken burger! Also loved their shrimp toast (it was gone before I could take a pic) Will be back for their dinner opening soon

Yelp
Jilli is hands-down one of the most unique and fun dining experiences in SF right now. This cozy Korean makgeolli bar is a total vibe--intimate, energetic, and full of personality. Think Korean drinking culture meets cool Mission hangout spot. The makgeolli (served in fun metal bowls!) is definitely a highlight--tons of fun flavors, slightly sweet, and not something you typically find so much focus on in other restaurants in the city. The staff is super helpful at walking you through the options if you're new to it. Food-wise, everything is built to complement the drinks. We got the honey butter chips, shrimp toast, kimchi rigatoni, popcorn chicken, and pork jowl. Unexpected combos at first glance, but they really work well. It's clear the menu was designed with love. The space is small and books up fast, so definitely make a reservation. Highly recommend for date night, drinks with friends, or anyone curious about Korean sool culture. Jilli's a standout and I plan to be back.

Yelp
Got hella lucky and found parking a block away and was able to do a walk in without having to wait long. I really liked the perilla oil noodle it was so refreshing (ordered 2 of these) could totally just eat this to myself tbh. The cheese tteokbokki was also really flavorful and spicy in a good way! I also enjoyed the pork jowl with salsa verde and wrapped it in lettuce and it was delicious. Their honey butter chips were yummy too! As for their popcorn kfc it was very underwhelming. It wasn't juicy and tasted kinda like frozen and I wasn't a fan of the seasoning. The rigatoni alla kimchi vodka was decent. I also added burrata, but it didn't do much for me. The flavor was lacking. Overall, this is a good Korean tapas spot. It's pretty pricey though considering the dishes are small. I get it that's what tapas are, but still. I appreciated that they gave us individual plates for sharing, but it would've been even more helpful if they had swapped them out at least once throughout the meal.

Yelp
Such a fun experience from beginning to end -- from the makgeolli flight from all different breweries across the US to the kimchi vodka rigatoni and pork jowl jeyuk. All the food was so creative and unique, and combined authentic Korean cuisine with fusion elements so well. The vibes are poppin' just like a Korean late night sooljip (bar). The owner is so cool and hip, and I know this spot is the next new hot spot!
