Jimenez y Friends Barbecue y Taqueria

We ordered barbacoa plate and a few carne guisada burritos. The food was hot and absolutely delicious. We’re from South Texas and currently live out of state. We had high expectations for Jimenez and really needed a good fix! I’m telling you- this is the good stuff. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our order was out quickly and we brought it back home to eat. The space is take out only and they were super busy on a post holiday weekend and still great service and quality. I have a pic attached- but it’s only after I had started eating- so the portions were originally larger than shown. I can’t wait to come back again!

Excellent breakfast tacos, burritos, & brisket. I can vouch for the Ranchero Taco (added bacon) and the El Chino. Additionally, the barbacoa burrito with potatoes and beans was my favorite thing I tried. I thought the El Chino would be a little more spicy, but the flavor was great. I arrived at 9:30am on a Sunday to an empty parking lot, but within seconds there were six other cars, so I ran inside to beat the rush. I definitely want to try the pastries when I return. They looked delicious.

Jimenez has been a go to spot for breakfast tacos a couple of years now. Today I wasn't in mood for eggs so instead I ordered carne guisada with rice and smoked barbacoa with beans. While waiting for my order I noticed the bbq menu. Back to the counter I also bought 1/2lb of pork belly. Pork belly isn't on the menu at many spots in this town. The barbacoa is smoky and rich. The guisada tender. The pork belly was delicious with a seasoned crust. All in all a fine selection and enough for leftovers.

Took my mom the other day to get some sweet bread. Not the biggest selection but it is what it is. When we got home she bit into an empanada and it was rock hard. I'm pretty sure they gave her day old bread or something. And the filling. There was a teeny tiny drop of pumpkin inside. I had to open mine up to find any. Nice facility and the staff was nice but we won't be back.

We grabbed brunch here around 11:00 on 7/18. We were warmly welcomed as we walked through the door. There are no tables, so all orders are to-go. But there are some chairs and a TV to watch while you wait for your food. The staff was incredibly kind and answered all of our questions and helped us with ordering. We ordered the three amigos, the ranchero taco, and la borracha. Our food was handed to us about 10 minutes after we ordered, and we went to a nearby park to enjoy it picnic-style. The three amigos were delicious. The chips and salsa were addictive. The borracha was too saucy to eat like a taco, but we were provided plastic forks for that! It was scrumptious. And the ranchero was just okay. Next time we’ll order either a double order of three amigos or two borrachas! Overall, we enjoyed our meal and had a good time.

As we travel, we are always looking for great family owned restaurants to eat from. Jimenez Tortilleria and Taqueria was deemed the #1 place in Lubbuck for breakfast tacos by Yelp, so we had to try it. 1. Quality of food - of the 5 different types of burritos that we purchased, 4 of the 5 hit the spot. The fifth type was not included in our order. They gave us the wrong burritos. The barbacoa burrito was a 10. The carne guisada taco was outstanding. However, they forgot the cheese. The Bean and Chorizo was great. Real Mexican Chorizo. Nice and spicy. The potato and egg was real good. Then came the wrong part of the order. I was given a burrito with egg and onions. Not good. 2. Service - Had our order been correct, a simple 10 would have been given. Overall, the service was great. Things happen. 3. Cost -- For today's times, prices were good. See my pictures regarding their menu. 4. Sweet bread or Pan Dulce -- each piece we bought was fresh, tasted great, and we would purchase more. Overall, removing the wrong food, everything else was well worth the visit. 4.5 of 5. Thanks for a great breakfast.. Luckily, we had purchased more food than we needed because we wanted to taste a variety of items. Finally, they are 9" burritos.

I've been told by a lot of people that this place has amazing food so I came to try it out. The burritos are so good! I can't wait to come back and work my way through the menu. It's place is incredible!

Best tacos in Lubbock, plus barbacoa and big red on Saturdays. 10/10 best tacos in lbk would recommend.

Smothered burrito was the best and the carne Asada fries was massive and delicious. Can't wait to try the barbecue next.

Stop here for some amazing bkft tacos & stellar service! It's to-go only, but no factor. The La Borracha Taco add Bacon & the El Cochino Taco add Potato were both superb. The El Cochino had a nice little bite to it, and both were packed with flavors. The fried egg was cooked perfectly on both. I'm sure I'll find my way back here for breakfast in another day or two while I'm still in town.

From the guys taking your order, till your first bite of your breakfast taco.. everything was amazing! There is not a seating area so you do need to take it to go but that will not stop you from eating in your vehicle like we did! The taste is amazing! Worth every penny!

Flavorful tacos with tender meat. I really like keeping it simple with meat and rice or potatoes. Delicious!

Jimenez, mexican barbecues is not brisket. I was very disappointed the meat had smoked ends it didn't taste right.

Breakfast Burritos and bakery were amazing. Service was top notch! We weren't prepared for no dining room but that's ok!

The customer service was great. Breakfast burritos were good. The Pan dulce, on the other hand, was amazing! It was very soft, melts in your mouth. It's a small establishment but it's very neat and clean. I recommend you stop on in and give it a try.

Stopped in for a breakfast burrito and was not disappointed. I am from out of town and always crave authentic breakfast burritos when I come to town. This is a hidden gem! Everything from the service to the food was top notch!

My wife and I started our 6 year anniversary off right by finally getting to try Jimenez Tortilleria y Taqueria. It is some of the best Mexican food we've ever had! So delicious! We got the Smothered Burrito with Carne Guisada topped with a Fried Egg and a side of Chips and Salsa, also a La Borracha Speciality Taco. For dessert we had the lemon empanada and a Big Red to drink. If you're craving amazing Mexican food, this is where it's at!

If you are reading this review, stop. Just press the directions button & go right now. When you pull up & see the beast of the smoker you will say "I think I am in the right place". When you put the food in your mouth you will KNOW you are I. The right place. FYI - It's pickup only.

I first tried this place a couple months back when I tried the brisket nachos.. heaven on earth. I kid you not I woke up from dreams about these nachos. I finally had the opportunity to visit lubbock again and this is the first place I went. straight to the nachos!! unfortunately they didn't have brisket nachos. so I opted for another meat choice that was still yummy. both of the employees behind the counter were lovely and friendly, seriously the most friendliest customer service I have ever experienced. hopefully I can come back again soon to have their nachos again!!

WOW WOW WOW! It was love at first bite. The philthy taco is top notch along with La jefa taco the egg was a delicious touch! Now the carne, guisada burrito was really good not that big, you could have 2 if you are really hungry. The service was Amazing so kind and very patient with new customers explained the whole menu for us. My overall experience was excellent! 10/10 coming for more!

I came here based on the raving reviews and let me tell you it did not disappoint!!! The staff is extremely friendly and has great recommendations if you don't know what to pick. The smothered burrito with Carne Guisada and asada tacos were phenomenal. A perfect place to grab breakfast or lunch. I didn't even have time to snap a picture because it was that good!

Heaven. Some of the tacos i have eaten outside of the Valley. And these guys do some mean work on the smoker. I had some brisket and ribs that were off the chart. If Aaron Franklin from the world famous Franklins BBQ in Austin were siiting down with a plate of these guys ribs he would be crying like a baby over how damn good they were. In fact i think these guys should change the name of the joint to Jemenez Heavenly Tortilleria and Taco because their has to be an angel somewhere to make food this good.

GREAT BURRITO...BEST IN LUBBOCK. FAMILY RUN AND OWNED. Man, I couldn't believe the taste. You can order off their extensive menu or do like I did, order how you want it. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito with Everything...The kitchen sink. HUGE Burrito with real authentic home-made hot sauce. This thing was SO Huge, I ended up putting the last 1/3 of it on a saucer and eating it with a spoon. What a delicious treat. And speaking of treats, there is a good variety of Fresh Baked breads, cookies, sweets to choose from too. One of the owner/managers came out from the back to great me and ensure that I was filled in with all they had to offer. Don't let the small parking lot run you off, heck, park next door; you won't regret it. Good food and great service also if u want Mexican bread they have it. Breakfast is the best
