Restaurants Open on Christmas Day in Raleigh, Durham, and Cary | Eater Carolinas

"Reservations are required for the massive Christmas buffet at this restaurant tucked inside the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Raleigh. In years past prime rib and honey-glazed ham have anchored the menu and been complimented by quintessentials like a mashed potato bar and Italian staples like arancini balls and bruschetta. Kids who are six and under are typically free, too, making this a great choice for parents looking to avoid cooking and cleaning but worried about paying for picky eaters." - Elliott Harrell

Not just a hotel restaurant! It’s a great restaurant that just happens to be attached to a Sheraton downtown Raleigh! Great Italian cuisine at affordable prices! We made reservations for a Tuesday, not sure how busy it gets on weekends. Food was great, staff was fantastic, and the Turtle Cheesecake was superb! By the way, the kid’s spaghetti and meatballs was enough to feed a grown man! We sat in a small private room that seats about 8 people. Either park on the street or in a parking lot/garage. It is on Fayetteville Street downtown.

I liked its placement in the hotel for breakfast and its variety of options with golf and the rest of the city being just outside. The Brioche French toast was so flawless and rich I came back for more a second day. The Meatball smash was not what I expected as they literally smashed the meatball into the burger, but it was the best burger I have tasted my entire life.

I have been wanting to try Jimmy Vs and finally went here for my birthday lunch. Didn't know what to expect so went online and put a reservation in. We went early lunch and were like the first customers. Fifi was our server and she was very attentive. The bartender (I didn't get her name) also made my margarita and wished me a happy birthday. Fifi had the customers all sing happy birthday to me and then served a Tiramisu! It was delicious. We enjoyed the food and found it to be reasonably priced. We ordered: Burrata, Margarita and Forager Pizzas, Margarita drink.

We had a wonderful experience at the restaurant! The atmosphere was lovely, and the food was delicious. A special thank you to Noelle, our server — she was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. She made us feel truly welcome and took care of every detail with a warm smile. Her service made our visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Ate dinner and breakfast at this restaurant during my stay at the Sheraton/trip to the downtown Raleigh area. The food was very decent and the employees were friendly and the service was quick.

We were in an extreme heatwave in the city and we escaped into Jimmy V’s for dinner and the food and service was on point. Trevor, our waiter was so professional, friendly, and cognizant (such a refreshing trait in today’s culinary atmosphere)to our needs.i felt so informed yet not pushed to make my decision which allowed me to truly make the best choice. I ended up pairing a lovely salad with figs- i would never have tried but after collaborating with Trevor who saw my angst I did get them on the side and then added them to my palate. Absolutely delicious. A lovely wine with soup completed my experience however, it was the continuous, attentive caring that Trevor exuded. He moved with with ease amongst many tables and your establishment is a great attribute to the downtown vibe. Thank you. Carol Ann

First let me just start off by saying it was my first time ever coming to Raleigh for a concert show and I’m staying at the Sheraton Hotel and I was trying to decide what I was going to eat. Me and my buddies stumbled upon Jimmy V’s. Not only were the employees welcoming but the food was very tasty. Our server Trevor was so helpful when it came to the menu. He recommended the Fried Calamari for our appetizers and the NY Strip I had was really good. My buddy Eric loved the wings. Now back to our server, I’ve been to my fair share of restaurants and experienced the good and bad with servers but Trevor was so nice and welcoming. Next visit to Raleigh I will be coming back. Thanks again for a great experience.

Yelp
Had Breakfast Buffet. It was a great spread. Best part, my server Fifi too great care of me. Made sure I got all that I needed and asked if there's anything else I would care for. I watched her go around other customers, and she was just delightful. Very caring to this couple. Served with a smile. Made my experience truly wonderful. Surely coming back!!

Yelp
Jimmy V. deserves a better namesake restaurant. No photos for this review, as I don't believe my photography skills can accurately capture how uninspired the menu is (at least from my perspective). I did not expect a five star, or even a 4 star meal, but I did expect at least basic, good service and fundamentally sound execution in the kitchen. I got neither. I will not return to Jimmy V's, and I will let my somewhat rare one star review speak for itself.

Yelp
What a train wreck of a place. The food is good but the service sucked so bad that I won't attempt to go back. A coworker and I went for lunch and ordered a chopped salad with salmon, an orzo salad, and buffalo wings. The buffalo wings came out first and they were hot, the sauce was good, and not a thing wrong there. Then down, down, down, down, down, down, down with the ship.... Then the salads came... first, I was brought a Caesar Salad which was not what either of us ordered. He actually told me that was the chopped salad and I had to tell him it wasn't. SMH Then I get the Orzo Salad with salmon. Close but no cigar. They took it back and then brought the chopped salad which was just the Caesar Salad with everything picked off, a few pieces of meat added, and the same salmon from my Orzo salad. Then about 5 minutes later, they brought the Orzo salad with the blank space where the salmon was. Should have just left it and dealt with it. So dumb. We tried to just tell them to bring a chopped salad and we'd move the salmon around. But OMFG what a Cluster of an experience. We went in around 11a so it was not crowded at all, so being busy was NOT an excuse. Just a server who was absolutely terrible! Luckily, another server took over to salvage it a little. But it was too late.

Yelp
I checked into the Sheraton in Raleigh about 10:15pm, and as part of the hotel intro from reception, they pointed at their bar and told me that it was open until 11, but last call for food was at 10:30. So, after dragging my bags up to the room, and having some difficulty getting on the internet to find other options, I decided rather than to go out of the hotel, I would grab something at the bar and just stay on site. I checked in with the host at the restaurant at 10:25 and they told me that last call for the kitchen was 10:40pm. Perfect, I'll get a pizza and a drink (or two). I sat down at the bar 10:25 wanting to order, watched him make the previous guy close his tab as he ordered a drink, and I said," I'll have a pizza" and he sighed and said "sure but you have to get it to go, I'm closing in five minutes." I said, "I thought you were open until 11?" He said, "not tonight." This disconnect because the bartender wants to close early is bullshit. He's rushing everyone at the bar and they are not meeting the hotels expectation of when the restaurant is supposed to be open until later. It really pissed me off. So I ordered from the restaurant host, paid and tipped the host, told them about the interaction and went and bought a bottle of wine from reception. I will not be back.

Yelp
Nice restaurant and good atmosphere. Our server was great. However the food is nothing out of the ordinary. The pizzas had good flavors but the crust was not optimal. It was difficult to chew. The chichen Parmesan was dry and burnt. There are better Italian restaurants in Raleigh. I don't think I would go back.

Yelp
I wanted to give Jimmy V's another chance so went for what I thought was brunch. I had reservation so tried to check in for that but the lady seemed confused and just seated me. They just had a breakfast buffet, no menu items for $16. I was told you can get a made to order omelet though. The buffet hot items all had the lids open so it was easier to get things out but the food was cold. Then besides the fruit the food wasn't very good. I was there at the end of the breakfast service so that may have played a role. There was a variety of fruit options. The omelet was amazing though. The chef is very talented. When he came to my table he also mentioned that we could get waffles with chocolate chips. the omelet was very filling and worth the $16 itself but I couldn't resist the waffle. I did request half of one as that is how I make it when I eat them. But I was brought out a full one without strawberries. The others got strawberries so I am not sure why I didn't. I'm thinking when I asked for half he heard no berries. The interesting thing about the waffles is that neither waitress mentioned it as an option. So I suggest if you go, just go up and talk to the chef for your options. I will return but skip the traditional buffet offerings.

Yelp
This place is great! The food was tasty and full of flavor, and the chicken wings in particular were awesome. During my visit, the restaurant was very empty with only a couple of tables occupied. Nonetheless, my experience here was enjoyable. My waitress did an excellent job throughout the evening and gave us some good recommendations on what to get. It's also a good spot to watch some games since they have several TVs in the dining area. The place itself is located in a nice area as well. Jimmy V's also has a a solid variety on the menu such as sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and seafood. I was impressed with everything we ordered, and I hope to try new items whenever I come back.

Yelp
Well this is an extension of the Sheraton so it links to the lobby. It's very nice! No dresscode really either as it is a hotel restaurant (lots of travelers/hotel guest ambiance). There are nice bathrooms and parking with the hotel or street parking. The hostess was very nice and seated us right away. The only reason for 3 stars instead of 5 is our server acted very confused about some basic questions. I had a mariott bonvoy gift card, and asked if I would be able to use it here as it is a mariott restaurant. And instead of saying she didn't know or a yes or no she just proceeded in short, with a "we never use gift cards." Which is incorrect because they do use them. And she said she had worked there for 2 years. She just seemed very unhappy to help us even before we sat down. We got our appetizer and had to scramble and find someone for plates and silverware. Our waters weren't refilled either, and she didnt take any trash away (like a couple truly cans and the empty crab dip plate etc). She even set to go boxes on top of an empty plate. Instead of helping clear the table. She wasn't terrible like she did bring us food quickly it just could have been much better. Although the food was good. We got the crab dip (with some veg to use to dip to make it GF). The crab dip was amazing-but it is hard to dip (hence why we needed silverware/napkins). My mom had the wrap with fries and loved it. I had the GF pizza (chicken bbq) and it was super good, light thin airy GF crust. The fries were so good. Loved the seasoning! In all the food was quite good, the service just wasn't great. Quite rude like before we even sat down. It was pretty quiet and slow so maybe she was upset about that? I'm pretty unsure but that does impact the overall experience.

Yelp
Great ambiance and set up for large parties outside. They had the food all ready and were prompt for us. Their bread and pasta were not fresh tasting, but salads were good. Wings and chicken parm were solid staples as well. My favorite veggie was honestly the broccolini because the potatoes were not completely cooked through. Nice staff and great ambiance but wish the food lived up to that standard.

Kurt S.

Yelp
My daughter and i had dinner there on January 17th. Food was good, but our service was Incredible! James Farmer was our server and he was the most professional, courteous and timely server I have seen in a long time. Well done James! Thank you!

Yelp
We weren't exactly pleased with the last bar we stopped so decided to stop in and give Jimmy V's a shot. I was impressed with the very open floor plan and much more natural light than the last bar, it was quite clear this was the place we would sit for a few drinks. With Brewgaloo happening outside seating at the bar was tight, but we were lucky to get a few. The bartender runs the bar like a pro, there is no delay in getting a drink order in and the drinks are expertly made. Regardless of how busy this bar was, the service remained the same, excellent! Cheers!

Yelp
We came out on Christmas for dinner. The restaurant is open loft style with an open kitchen and outdoor seating. Our service was fine, the waiter confirmed my selection of the chicken ravioli, he said it was his favorite. It was good! The pizzas were good and chicken Alfredo was good as well. We got a few drinks and it appears the specialty drinks are whiskey bourbon based, I got a margarita and it was very basic. We also got a side Caesar salad it was VERY basic.

Yelp
I was in Raleigh recently for a conference. This restaurant was in my hotel, so it was convenient to get to. I ate here three times, and all three times the food was delicious. I had the bucatini twice and a pizza once. The service was excellent as well. I also liked the setting. It was very nice.

Peter K.

Yelp
Seriously the worst food I've had in many years. Didn't eat it. One bite and done. Quality was awful. Bread was stale as could be. Server did NOTHING about it. We had four people at our table and all four agreed this place is terrible. Food and service are extremely poor. I don't leave reviews but this was so bad , I felt compelled to let others know to stay far away.

Yelp
Ethan makes the BEST dirty martinis and old fashioneds! He is super attentive and knows his way around a cocktail. Great bar service!

Yelp
Ambiance was the best thing. Went with a party of 55 during the middle of the week, there was nobody there, which I thought would help, but I was wrong. The servers were respectful and nice, but the pace... there was no pep to any step! It was set up buffet style and the food wasn't replenished fast and, in fact, we ran out of food too at several points in time. As for the food itself, the chicken parm had a crunch, which if you like it that way, then you'd like it. The bread had a crunch too, meaning it was stale. The meatballs were pretty tough. The chicken wings didn't seem like the wood fired ones everyone was raving about online. For the cost of the event and the quality of the food as well as the efficiency of service, most likely not worth it.

Craig H.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant, didn't like the feature of outdoor party being able to watch every bite we took. Food was terrible, I had raw hide which they called. New York strip, tiny grisly piece of something. Wife had a hamburger which was tasteless and grisly. If we haven't just spent 12 hours in a vehicle traveling here we wouldn't have eaten it. On a positive note, service was tremendous and staff was great but food was below par especially being attached to a Sheraton Hotel

Yelp
Stayed at the hotel for a work conference and decided to stop by the restaurant because of the convenience. I ordered the working lunch (BLT, chicken noodle soup, and Caesar salad). Unfortunately, it took 40 minutes before my table's food arrived. When it did arrive, my sandwich had a quarter slice of tomato end and the bread was incredibly dry. The only reason I gave it a two instead of a one star rating is because they offered free dessert for the long wait time. Would not recommend coming here.

Yelp
For a restaurant in the south, Jimmy V's take on Italian is certainly tasty. Its been a long time since we've had a chicken marsala that good, let alone anywhere this far from Italian American cultural hub like New Haven, CT or Brooklyn New York. It was so good we ate it before we could even take the picture. The barbecue chicken pizza was also pretty tasty, but the tips of the slices did flop. Still worth the order. There's a large selection of beers in the restaurant offers large indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is friendly, the prices are OK, if you're a traveler staying in downtown Raleigh looking for some good Italian, Jimmy V's is your spot. It is located in the Sheraton hotel.

Sara N.

Yelp
The waiter was nice and was apologetic but the service was poor. It took 15-20 minutes after being seated to even be noticed and to place drink orders, and the entire meal took over an hour and a half for three people when the restaurant wasn't very busy. When the food finally did come it definitely wasn't worth the wait.

Yelp
Red sangria had zero wine in it but was filled with Apple pucker and pineapple juice. The menu was so poorly printed you could barely read the ingredients so I had to Google the menu and opted for the Italian salad with red wine vinaigrette. It definitely came with some Italian dressing on the side but that's ok. No problem, whatever. However....They had "colon broom" stored at the bar. Facing the bar, bottom left little cubby hole. I'm not kidding!! We even asked the bartender and he had no idea but played dumb when we questioned him. The only reason this place isn't getting zero stars is because 1.) thats not possible and 2.) my Italian salad was loaded with olives and I happen to love them. Friendly note: this is the restaurant that's attached to the Sheraton hotel. We should have known better but we were in a time crunch. Never again!

Yelp
Celeste. What a fabulous person. Exemplary customer service. This lady clearly enjoys her job. Energy exuded and knowledge of menu for palate preferences (picky eater alert) impressive. And on point. From the moment Celeste approached table felt welcomed and had vibe I'd chosen wisely for dining experience. Celeste recommended wings with Thai chili sauce. Delicious. And ample serving portion. Took a few with me. Also had nice side ceasar salad. Ingredients while simple were fresh and tasty. To compliment food selections, Celeste suggested a nice wine. It was called complicated. Enjoyed. This is a nice inviting spot. Stop in and when you do please ask for Celeste. You won't be disappointed. She's absolutely amazing.

Beverly C.

Yelp
The food, the service and the atmosphere was the best! Even went later in the evening to meet friends at the bar. Still a great experience. The service was great. We had the best waitress. Her name was Celeste! She did an absolutely amazing job. The bartender and the waiter also did great. Just didn't get their names. Highly recommend a visit to Jimmy V's!

Mike L.

Yelp
Service was great! Food quality is not good. The Chicken Parmesan was dry and flavorless.

Yelp
Clearly this place is for cocktails and not food. We are not drinkers, but the drinks looked awesome. Food was disappointing. They put so much hot pepper flakes on my shrimp scampi it was inedible. They did not say it was spicy. I absolutely cannot eat foods with heat -- it burns my mouth. I've been eating shrimp scampi for years & never had it so hot. My belief is that chefs pile hot sauce & flakes on regular food when they don't know how to properly use spice. My companion ordered the chicken marsala & was shocked to see it over mashed potatoes. Hello, this is supposed to be an Italian restaurant -- where's the pasta? And there were hardly any mushrooms. To their credit, they were very nice & switched our meals for something else. I would not drive up to Raleigh again for this restaurant.

Nicole K.

Yelp
First off I want to say that our waiter was very sweet. She always made sure we had what we needed and wanted. I came here to celebrate my birthday. I had ordered the shrimp scampi and it was incredibly bland and super small. For 25$ I expected more. I was extreme disappointed in the food. It was overpriced and not very good. The building structure makes it very loud. The only reason this experience wasn't an absolute let down was because the dessert. I didn't expect anything but they sang and it was super delicious. The raspberry cheesecake was amazing. So the desserts and staff are what get these stars. But unfortunately I came here for food and it was not somewhere I will eat at again nor recommend.

Yelp
Our first time here and it was pretty good...would give a 3.5 stars if Yelp allowed. We ordered wings, ribeye, and veal as our entrees. All were great and the veal was probably one of the best executed (rolled and plated gorgeously and delciosuly on the risotto). Service was good and attentive, though was surprised that they did not offer any compensation whatsoever when my sister's wings-entree was first made incorrectly, and then was not served until 15 minutes later than our entrees. Thankfully we dined early enough before our show and was able to accommodate the extra time. This is a good place to come before a show...and will probably try again. They do serve complimentary bread and tasty dipping oil, while you wait for your food.

Yelp
Great service (thank you Jamie) and great food. This place is inside the Sheraton, but has a separate entrance from the outside. Cool atmosphere, cool vibe and great food. We received top notch service and our server Jamie was as sweet as could be. Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
We dined at Jimmy V's around 6PM after doing Illuminate Art Walk. It was empty so we felt safe initially but it started to fill up with a lot of larger parties as we were about to leave. I started off with an AMB Longleaf IPA, all drafts are $7. We did an appetizer next, the crab dip. It was really good, my only complaint is that a few of the pita chips were stale. For our entrees I went with the smoked chicken ravioli and my husband went with the roasted salmon. The menu options, outside of wood-fired pizzas, is small and a tad expensive but the portions were plentiful. The overall experience here was 3.5 stars.

Yelp
We stopped in on Christmas Day. The barmaid was friggin downright rude to us. I reversed with a good attitude putting her on alert. Never again. Nasty bartender

Yelp
Love the arches. Friendly atmosphere. Rustic feel with tin plated tables. Outdoor seating.

Yelp
Still like the funky pizza. Water is horrible. Maybe a local issue but YUCK! Ice helps. Service is average for a place that's not busy. Love the atmosphere though. RIP Jimmy.

Yelp
Sad. Been watching this place slide slowly downhill for years. Captive audience at the Sheraton keeps it open. Staff very unhappy to see our large group appear so late in the evening. Menu is limited and does not seem to change. Salmon was dry and badly overcooked. Chili wings a bit bland but the real kicker was the 3" long wire that was marinated with my wings. Good news was the kitchen is used to large groups and got us served quickly. Been eating here for years attending conferences at the convention center. Made my last trip there this week.

Robert A.

Yelp
We made a reservation for 7 people to celebrate our daughter's college graduation. I'm not sure where to begin so we will start with the beginning because it was all downhill once we arrived. It was a rainy windy night and they put us on the patio but the weather flaps were opened so we requested them to be closed. The wind made it a little chilly and asked that they turn on the middle of the table fire pit but is was broken. This was a huge table. so you could only talk to the people next to you, not across from you. Why they chose this seating I do not know since there were plenty of other tables suited for large parties and conducive to socialization. Still, the weather flaps have not been lowered. The server came ot take some drink orders while we looked over the menu. He returned after 30min with drinks and asked if we had any questions and we ordered appetizers. We were deciding on dinner choices and talking, noticed that 45min had gone by, can't find the server anywhere. I had to go to the bar and ask someone to find him so we could get a second round of drinks and order dinners. Meals were selected and second round of drinks arrived 20min after that. Keep in mind, there is ONE other table of a party of 12-12 and 2 tables with couples in the whole restaurant, it was empty which should have been a clue since it was graduation night and no one was eating dinner at this place in downtown, connected to a hotel and several hotels around it, all full with guests that came in for college graduations. Another 30min of talking and server has gone missing again (we were his only table). I talked to the manager to find out the story and to request for a 3rd time that the weather flaps be lowered due to the weather. The manager who was chatting with some staff at the food prep line was the most unprofessional person I've come across in the restaurant industry. He was wearing a button down shirt, untucked and looked like he just woke up from a nap in the ally behind the kitchen. Clothes were all wrinkled, tie barely around his neck and every response was a defensive one. He went on to defend that they were busy and he would make sure the server checked on us more frequently. After a few minutes the server came over to the table, walked around it and looked at everyone's place setting and walked out, did not ask if we needed anything. Finally the dinners came out, we are about 2 hours into the evening now. The meals were warm at best, mostly cold. The burgers a few people chose were hockey pucks and uneatable (my daughter, the guest of honor was one, took one bite and couldn't eat it). Two of our guests ordered pasta and chicken plates, which did not come out with all the other meals so we waited, then I went to find the manager again. I was at the prep line and visibly upset at this point and asked if he would like to take the conversation to his office, the reply was right there was good. So be it. I started listing everything that has gone wrong since we arrived, in front of the kitchen and wait staff and he continued to defend their position which I then pointed out that the place was empty and I wasn't looking for excuses just a resolution for a celebration dinner that has been a nightmare. He said he would check on the other 2 meals so I stood with him at the line and watched while his kitchen staff made the meals, so they were never ordered or plated. Weather flaps were still up and I was told he had to find someone from maintenance to unroll them. 2.5 hours at this point and I asked him to take into account everything, including the service, into account and what he could do to help me out because that was NOT a $600 dinner tab of food and service, I actually laughed. While he was considering the options, I asked for the graduation cake be brought out so we could have dessert and get on with our evening. I was told right away. The server came back with a knife to cut the cake, no forks or plates...... AND NO CAKE. I asked the manger after 20min where the cake was and he said "we are trying to locate it". Seriously, I can't make this up. After 35 minutes the cake arrives and we cut and plated it ourselves. During dessert, the manager pulled me aside so we could review the bill. He said he would comp the two burgers and not charge us the $80 fee to bring your own cake (which they didn't even serve to the guests). I told him to go back and think on it again, the cake fee never should have been part of the bill because we called to make the reservation and were told there was no additional charge to brig our own cake and they would plate and serve it. I told him don't even count that as some kind of savings since it was never supposed to be there in the first place. The manager returned with a revised bill, it was still ridiculous but I cut my losses and accepted that at least the appetizers were decent. I have never left a tip that low before and was close to leaving n

Yelp
Awesome food! Love the Shrimp Scampi and Chicken Marsala. Really enjoyed the environment and service.

Abigail A.

Yelp
While my salmon was absolutely perfect, my friend's steak sandwich and pizza could have been a little better, according to them. The calamari was pretty good too. The restaurant is very pretty. Service was good. Was a little expensive, but overall not bad.

Yelp
I had a Farmer's salad which was complete with peaches, walnuts, tomatoes, an italian cheese, and a house vinaigrette, and the combination of it all was FANTASTIC!!! I caution you, this baby boy is beastly filling, I almost made the mistake of adding a sandwich which would've never happened. This salad is certainly a MUST try!

Yelp
Overall, pretty great! I had the valvano meatballs to start with and they are very good as well as being big and covered in tasty mozzarella with marinara on the side. While I ate the meatballs I tried a Canadian mule which wasn't bad at all for a mule and far less smelly than an actual mule. I had only a fairly underwhelming salad for lunch so I also ordered the Parmesan wings. They were absolutely tasty, cooked perfectly, and were amazing dipped in blue cheese dressing. All I needed was top notch service which I received. I'm coming back the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
The food was awful! Even the French fries! How do you ruin fries? I ordered a cocktail but couldn't get it because the manager was in a staff meeting.

Yelp
I only make it to Raleigh a few times a year and this time, it was only for a luncheon with some very important customers/partners of ours. If I was Italian I would kiss my fingertips and mutter the word "Magnificent" in that accent to describe my visit and experience here. We had about 14 people in the party and I think everything on the menu was ordered. As for the appetizers, we had everything but the soup. I tried them all and you can't go wrong with any of them but I was quite surprised with the Bruschetta with balsamic caviar (my first time having caviar). I absolutely enjoyed it and highly recommend it. My top pick though is the Crab Dip as an appetizer. This stuff I'd like to have daily. As for the main entrees, I don't think one person ordered something identical to someone else and all I heard was rave reviews on each dish. I, myself ordered the Funky Burger cooked medium and it was cooked perfectly. The taste was superb. The only thing that would have made it better would have been a dab of some type of mushroom gravy so it wasn't as dry but ketchup fixed that concern. My entree came with a side and I chose fries. Now, this was a disappointment. A restaurant with food of this style and caliber should have at the least seasoned fries, wedges, chips, or some specialty style fries like chili and cheese or white cheddar fries. Instead, these were undercooked shoestring fries similar to McDonalds. Until this is changed, I would choose a different side. Overall, the Jimmy V gets my vote and I am eager to return.

Yelp
I'm guessing there aren't a lot of Italian-Americans living in the Raleigh area. Or, if there are, they probably aren't making a beeline to Jimmy V's. It's at my hotel, I was hungry, and didn't feel like calling an Uber. I've come not to expect much from hotel restaurants, but Jimmy V's didn't even come close to meeting those low expectations. The keyword here is "bland". I kept it simple by ordering the Spaghetti and Meatballs. It arrived at my table less than 5 minutes after ordering. So, the sauce was already sitting in a pot (ok) and the pasta was likely soaking in a pot of water (not ok). The sauce was uninspired and watery. And, since the pasta had long since been rinsed of any starch, there was no way for the sauce to stick to the pasta. This is the sauce of cheap buffets. The meatballs were flavorful, but tasted more like meatloaf than anything Italian. The dish was also accompanied by what looked like a couple of slices of garlic bread, but you guessed it, not even a hint of garlic or any butter flavor (despite coloring that looked buttery). They were also sprinkled with parsley (blandest of all herbs) rather than something more Italian like Oregano. Service was ok, but mainly teens or college kids.

Yelp
I came here for lunch ordered chicken wings all flats and a medium burger. My wings came they were not all flats, my fries were not hot and my burger was over cooked and very dry. My friend ordered crab dip. It was cold on the inside. This was a terrible experience

Yelp
Overall the atmosphere was nice A bit loud The food was reasonably good The meatball and calamari dishes excellent - the steak sandwich had nice flavor but had to chew the steak for what seemed hours. The key to the less than favorable review is the after paying leaving the restaurant I discovered the stuck me with a $25 service charge. Not realizing I gave favorable tip so they really made out well. So overall rating - reasonably nice, food was hit and miss but key very pricy for the food. Not likely to return even though I admired the namesake for the restaurant.

Yelp
Came in Sunday after 2 p.m. on 8/13/2017. Sat at the bar and was serviced by a delightful bartender. If that was my only interaction with any staff member this establishment would have received 5 stars. His recommendations were excellent, and his service was A+. The one star is due to the female manager that was on the floor. She was very critical of patrons that were talking, and just having a good time. She overstepped her position and decided to call security on a patron that just asked for a towel to clean a spill on the floor. The patron was coherent and not drunk. Talk about profiling. Why would a manager try to use a sweeper on a liquid spill? A seasoned bartender would know if a customer was drunk, and would know when to cut off a customer. She didn't even consult with him.

Yelp
Best gluten free pizza I have had period. If you can't have regular pizza, definitely worth it. Will be back...

Yelp
Worst service imaginable. Awful food. Rude servers. Jimmy V would be so disappointed.

Yelp
i do nit recommend this place at all! service is horrible. We ordered wings at the bar 90 minutes later we still have not been served . The bartender with the mask is useless! She should not be behind the bar serving or taking food orders . Thank god for the hostess and Brooklyn in the kitchen.

Yelp
What a disappointment. I've heard great things about this place. Jimmy V is a Raleigh institution and this restaurant does not reflect his hard work and ethics. We came in on a Saturday night- a large party for a birthday. We were post dinner rush, and we were told there was a large 40-top about to order. So we did. The rest of this debacle is barely worth repeating but here's the gist: Food coming out cold. Food coming out incorrectly cooked. Food missing for over an hour plus. The restaurant was barely accommodating on taking care of things- and finally got with one good server who tried to make it better. Doubtful we will ever come back. Didn't even bother to take photos of the food, because after the horrible kitchen service- the food wasn't good at all.

Yelp
Went for Bluegrass Ramble Night One 2022. Only venue that serves food. 21% "fee" added to all Ramble tabs without prior notice. We were party of two and the extra charge is not listed at the door, not listed on menu, not listed on tabletop signs- not listed ANYWHERE and not noted by servers. Several patrons around us were also shocked to see this "private event fee" on their tabs. It may be ok for them to charge it, but it's not ok to not inform patrons before they place their orders. Have been to IBMA Ramble since 2017 and never seen this fee at any other small venue. Spoke to manager (as did those around us) and he was dismissive. Won't be back during Ramble or any other time- we are local in Raleigh. Alerting IBMA also.
