Jimmy's Famous Burgers - Hyde Park/Bronzeville

Ordered a philly cheesesteak and asked for mozzarella instead of swiss. First off, didn't get mozzarella and the amount of meat on there was not even the bare minimum. Bread toasted to the point that its chewy unless it was stale to begin with. Fries were pale and bland. And lastly, the lady putting the food in the bags, coughing in her hand, not changing the gloves. But after coughing in her hand, opened the bag with the hand she coughed in, and pressed her hand all the way down in the bag so it'll stay open. Then grab your food and place it in the bags all after coughing in her hand and not changing the gloves. Got my money once, but will never get it again.

Wow and woah... a Chicago favorite inside another Chicago favorite. Imagine a Chicago-style Philly cheesesteak wrapped in a Chicago style pizza puff, and you get the crispy steak Philly from Jimmy's Famous Burgers in Hyde Park. It was absolutely delicious. The ish to me was fye...for real. This is the only way to describe it. Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I had turkey burger combos with a strawberry shake. The burgers were really good and seasoned. The fries were even good and not under cooked. The strawberry shake was surprisingly really good. Glad I decided to stop here. I definitely recommend this place.

Jimmy’s is suggestively known for the burgers hence the name of the restaurant however the taco lover in me couldn’t help but to try the tacos, more specifically the chicken tacos. I was surprised that I would enjoy them so much that I’ve been back several times and have yet to actually order a burger but my better half is addicted to the burgers so they must be decent because he’s picky and equally particular about his food. I know this is not a Mexican spot and I am kinda against ordering food that’s outside a restaurants specialty but the tacos are decent for the price. The sauce will disappoint but I keep taco sauce on hand just because. Oh and while you’re there grab a frozen lemonade they also have daily specials for those trying to dine on a dime. The staff are very personable and go the extra mile.

Food was great, fried chicken sandwich was what it was supposed to be, simple and tasty. Service on other hand was absolutely the worst, they have chairs and a place to sit but staff won't allow you to sit. Seriously what kind of place doesn't let you sit to eat? Staff was yelling and arguing with each other while customers inside. Bottom line, get in and out or spend money elsewhere.

Excellent customer service and great food! The staff was very professional and extremely polite and courteous! Food was hot fresh and delicious! Will go there again!

Dey be lying like I ordered a number 2 double cheeseburger meal it said 11.99 then dey gon y it’s a single burger n the double is 13 dollars then want yall change the menu n yall suppose to charge me what y’all advertising I was pissed I hate those kinda restaurants. I ordered thru Uber eats. Polish was shriveled and warm fries were old and cold. They don't have pickle relish. Grilled onions were so old they were discolored almost black brown. Awful

If you a fan of raw cold fries this the place to visit. Food overpriced and not seasoned at all. Just find another place to eat at

Burger was a 3 / 5 AT BEST Texture was that of Frozen Patties Tomatoes sliced by a blind person. (1/2" one side paper thin on other) Fresh cut fries were soggy and cold. 2 / 5 at best hence 2.5 overall but today we are rounding down to 2 stars The gentleman on the register (Desi Guy) was very very polite, clean and handled your order properly.

Ordered a gyro cheeseburger and fries through Uber eats other than the food being a little cold which was no fault of the restaurant I must say it was one of the best gyro cheeseburgers I've had the the gyro was cooked perfectly and the fact they used real hamburger made it that much better it was seasoned and flavorful I'll definitely be ordering from them again

I was about to order from here, then I looked at the pictures. I'll pass! Many places lose customers because of the pictures and comments. Please take care of your business if you want to be successful.

Disappointed in this spot, 1st time ordering and wont be ordering again. Ordered thru GrubHub. Ordered Nashville chicken paid extra for cheese and upgrade large fries. Didn't get mozzarella on cheese and the large fries looked more like small fries. And the Nashville Hot Chicken doesn't taste like Nashville Hot Chicken. My other family members, 3 orders total, had issue with the small fries and missing cheese as well. Three orders paying for extra items is about $10 - imagine how many customers they may have ripped off, that'll add up. Save your money and go elsewhere won't be ordering again.

This place is clean and they let me plug my phone in and eat when I was released from the hospital with no charge and no ride home. I bought the gyro and fries. Thought it was delicious. I'd go back for the food. Would stay clear of the U of C ED though if I were you. Thank GOD for Jimmy's - the real heroes.

Our department at the University of Chicago had the honor of having lunch at Jimmy's and I must say, the service and the food was phenomenal. What made it so great was our server Mary Grace. She was so kind, patient and processional it was an honor to be served by her. Mary Grace, you Rock

My burger looked almost like the picture and tasted even better. I'm always skeptical when I see a burger joint that isn't mainstream. I decided to try Jimmys Famous Burgers today. I ordered the #1 and doubled my patties. The burger came with fresh hand cut fries and a nice frozen strawberry lemonade. The burger meat tasted fresh and looked like it was handcrafted. Someone definitely took pride in cooking these patties up as they had a nice sear with a really soft chew that melted in my mouth. The burger didn't seem to have a lot of seasoning on it but the lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, ketchup and mustard all kicked in and gave it a good flavor. I was most impressed and my burger even almost looked like the menu advertisement! Also it was a pretty big burger. I'm a big guy and it took two eating sessions for me to finish. The fries were fresh but I waited a bit too long to eat them. But no complaints here because these were hand cut and didn't taste like the normal fries that most restaurants in the local neighborhood use. I'd recommend getting mild sauce on these fries though. The strawberry lemonade was tasty! A Sweet, tangy, cold treat that is sure to help chase away some of the summer heat. I will be back to eat here soon!

The only thing that I have ever had here was the gyro. I've had a LOT of gyros and fries and this place does an excellent job! As a plus, if you order the gyro and fries without the pita, it's gluten friendly! Also, I've seen a number of comments regarding their customer service. However, everyone's experience is different and mine have been consistently good... knock on wood!

Garbage ass food ! Expensive too ! I was highly upset when I spent money there that was my last . Over $41 dollars for hard cold food I brought home for my family's dinner. The guy that took my order was rude and had the music up so loud he couldn't hear me place my order. The food tasted like it was at least a day old and it was cold. I ordered the soggy Doritos Nachos , Chicken Wings that were old and hard, $10 dollars for 4 chicken tenders, and and Italian Beef with stale meat. Also cold, hard French fries. None of the 4 things tasted good. Needless to say I won't ever be returning. Worst food ever ! Don't waste your money.

I used to frequent this place until they stopped accepting over the phone orders. Today was my first time back in a long while and I will say that I am overly disappointed in the manner in which my food was served to me. I paid for a full philly steak combo and my philly was only 2/3 of the way full when I opened it to eat it. By the time I realized this I was already too far from the restaurants and they would be closing in 10.

The Doritos nachos are delicious !!! as well the burgers and Philly chicken sandwich . The food always taste good when picking up or ordering delivery .

Finally a place where I get a good ass, basic fast food burger for an affordable price. Jimmy's probably costs the same as McDonald's or any fast food place, so if you have the choice, GO HERE. I got a bacon cheeseburger meal with a banana pudding. My boyfriend also got a meal and pudding, and the total was around $25. Not only is it cheap, but it is so good. The burgers look exactly like the ads, and taste just as good. If you're not in the mood for burgers, they have a ton of other menu items, which I can't wait to try. There is free parking. I went on a Friday night, and there was plenty of parking space and easy to get to. The place was empty, so we got our order in right away. The employees were super friendly, so it was overall a good experience. They do have seating inside, although it's small.

I'd recommend you call directly vs using Yelp! Great Turkey burgers that are just as juicy as the beef!

If I could rate with negative stars I would! Where is the meat? Why would you with a straight face give anybody this foolishness? The cashier took it real personal about our complaint like she owned the business? If it were her she wldve felt the same WAY! SMH! $6.50 for what??? Totally requested a refund! The lady snatched the box through it in trash and reluctantly refunded. I WILL NEVER EVER BE BACK!

OMGosh!! This place NEVER disappoints. Known for amaxing burgers but all I cam say is 2 words - Doritos nachos. Baaaby these are my go to when I'm having an old school nacho craving. My greedy ass ordered a big one. Mistake!! It's huge with a generous portion of ground beef. I now know better. The burgers are amazing like I have to sit and eat it because I can't wait until I reach home. They have counter seating. The boneless wings are actually freshly prepared to order. I mean y'all, I saw the prep cook chop the chicken breast, bread it and fry it. Huge chunks. I can only eat 4 pieces. They also have dessert treats. The crack dessert is thr candy apple grapes. (drops fork) Some people came in just for those. The service is quick and everything is freshhhhh. If I didn't have a waistline to worry about I'd eat here more often. Clean. Friendly. And gooooood food. Oh and they know me by name. Is that a bad thing?

Came here for lunch and got their one patty cheese burger special. I've been here before and I remember it being really good - it was possibly when they first opened at this location. I won't say that the burger was bad but it was just ok... they kinda remind me of five guys and how everything on the burger is kinda all slopped together. As for favor none really there. I can't say I'll be back but I will say for what it was worth it was filling aka it got the job done - wasn't hungry anymore.

w I usually like coming to this place. Never had an issue until cashier got my order wrong and when I called from home, she still argues as to why it was correct. I had missing items. When I returned, I was met by another gentleman (manager) I assume.. but before I could even finish what my concern was, he stated "I heard you arguing with the lady". I informed him that I don't argue with anyone and to please issue me a refund. He still went on and on about how they was right and I'm wrong. This was an unfortunate experience. I will not be going back to this location unless staff changes. This was inconvenient and rude when a simple lager modification could've rectified the problem. Give me my damn fries ! Ugh.. get the order correct!

Today was my first time ordering from here. I placed my order in person. I got the double burger combo, medium well done with the frozen lemonade. Took over twenty minutes to get my order. The fries were cold and the burger was lukewarm. The meat was not seasoned at all and it was somewhat dry. I've definitely had a better burger.

This place sucks dont ever buy from this place, because it sucks. They completely disregard your order especially on ubereats. No napkins, ketchup or hot sauce even when i asked. Cold soggy and greasy fries!

New spot in bronze ville! Ordered here off uber eats and it was really good. Decided to pop up in (uber up charges the food items and charges delivery) to get the same deliciousness with lesser cost. The staff was friendly and the music was good. The best thing (besides the burgers) was the choose your own coke machine with over 20 flavors. Food came up quick. There's a sharks on the left and subway on the right, but I feel they will be a hit for this location.

Decent burgers not very memorable. Fries are terrible. I think the burgers should be a little bigger for the price but other than that the food is always hot and they are always nice.

I really do love this place. Decent food at a good price. The service is always on point. Very personable and helpful. My only quarrel, they changed their fries. I kno i kno, people change their fries all the time but this change isn't good at all. They taste stale. Horrible. I miss the fresh cut fries , the ones with seasoning. The fries were amazing before and now , no need to order a meal.

I order today through grub hub ordered a dbl cheeseburger combo but received a single cheeseburger combo. I have called three times with no answer. Terrible service as I would like the difference back b/c I'm sure a single burger is cheaper than a dbl. I almost feel like they did it on purpose. I will NEVER order from here again and I DONT recommend this place to anyone.

Just get the burger! Not a bad burger, not the best ever either. I am not a fan of the other things on the menu. They could learn from Five guys simpler menu and focus on the basics, burger and fries, maybe shakes or lemonade and that is it.

Food is decent, but if your DoorDash order is missing an item, good luck. They refused our delivered missing item after we sat and waited on the delivery for an hour. Didn't even call us, we had to find out from Door Dash. Maybe they thought we were trying to scam them out of a free nacho, but sucks one person didn't get to eat dinner because of it.

The food here is very tasty I've never had a bad meal when I've been here. What's more important is the friendliness of the staff that works her.

The turkey burgers are great! You have to add the pickles, onion and mustard and ketchup! Two thumps up

As a long time Bronzeville resident, I was excited that more businesses are realizing the buying power that we have. I have visited this place four times--the first time was on the coupon that was in the mail--burger was awesome. Customer service not so much. The young lady with the hair net--and 12 inches eyelashes-- seems to have contempt for most of the customers. The day of the "coupon" she was cleaning and moving the chairs, as I attempted to order, she asked me to hold on. OK...keep the establishment clean. 5 minutes...WOW! Customers. The second time I entered the "place" she was posted at the cash register, looking as though the customers should be "screened"--as I watched her interact with the customer, she had the most disgruntled look on her face--elbow on the cash register, hand on her chin, and about to go in full mode of rolling her eyes. WOW! Burger still good. The third time...trying to believe that we could have a take-out (don't sit in the chairs--12 inches eyelashes response is totally off the chain--after all she spent 5 minutes of ignoring the customers to straighten the chairs) I decided to try the Gyro Special (2 for 8.99--good). I asked for a small salad--Her deadpan expression--"We ain't got no small salad"...OK. Today, last visit to this "place" --love the decor...black and white frames highlighting Hyde Park and surrounding neighborhood...but 12 inches eyelashes...shouts at a man about moving a chair...embarrassment...he purchased food for his group...not enough chairs where there were sitting. She further tried to embarrass him by asking him "did he pay for his call in order." If he hadn't, why does he have food. He smiled, and joined his friends to eat. WOW! By this time, I just want to get my food and get out of this "place." Finally, they called my name and...when I got home...should have checked by food...missing fries. Last time I will visit this "place"...and will not recommend it--based on lack of hospitality and professionalism. Food is good, but is it worth it. Always, remember, treat your customers like gold--this is your income--not theirs--money will be spent elsewhere. #Girl what's wrong with you!

I left an in-depth review on GH and I felt the need to do it here as well because my last experience with them was that HORRIBLE! This place has good food if you want something quick and fresh but they usually always leave stuff out of the order. Which kind of defeats the purpose of ordering and getting food delivered!! To top it off, they wouldn't refund money or even send out left out items in order! POOR Customer Service!

Poor customer service. This is the second time my order was canceled without contacting me the customer first. They canceled my order because I wanted a sauce on the side and tomatoes added. When the employee called me my while her tone wasn't rude she was very snippy and stated my order was canceled because I didn't pay for those things. Well I can't pay for them if on Grubhub you don't have those things listed as an option. I also pointed our to ensure I received fne extra meat I was paying for as previously on another order I didn't receive it and didn't call and complain I simply want what I paid for. I really hate businesses that don't believe in good customer service and they are now on my list. I don't recommend this location especially if you order through one of apps as you will faulted as the customer because you asked for a side of sauce. I'm leaving this review to warn others but I'm sure the owner nor store manager will care as long as the money keeps rolling in. If I could give zero stars I would.

ok, now I like Jimmy's but from this post you might not know...lol Now I've frequented here a few times and was happy wit the service I received. Well tonight they were busy as usual n the store was kinda humping. I placed my order late in the 6 o clock hour, but didn't receive my food til about 713. Mind you I did not place a call in order I was an in store customer , not too happy. So I get home burst open my Philly and was upset when I saw my order. I asked 4 very lite onions, what did I get? A nice small pile of onions once I pulled off what I didn't order. And I could have swore Phillys r supposed to be chopped steak rt...well damnit that was wrong to...the chopped part not the meat...dude on the grill was too lazy to fully chop my freaking meat! whoever was the grill guy tonight needs to take lessons from the grill guy in the daytime! cuz that dude rocks. Well I tired to give yall a chance wit ya high ass prices, yall fries are good n all but im going back to BABAs...where the know how to listen.

Visited for a chicken philly. I visited quit often when they opened but started to travel - decided to visit them today and was really disappointed. In the past the customer service was the best In the entire area. The young lady taking orders - told us to wait while she did something else. Kind of felt like we were Bothering her by coming in to purchase food. She didn't smile or say thank you (in the best the staff was super friendly). She took the order walked away and started to pull trash out of cans. Food came up - I asked if there were condiments to go on fries and everyone looked at me like I asked for a kidney donation or something. I asked again - the young lady yelled we don't put nothing on our fries. ZERO PERSONALITY. The quality of the food was good very fresh even though the fries were served cold. I do believe that in the areas $9.80 sent is too much to pay for a chicken philly combo. I will probably not go back. Good good service terrible.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. I placed a delivery order at 7:30 on a Saturday evening via GrubHub and got text confirmation that the order was being prepared and was expected to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. We waited until 8:50 to call the restaurant to check on our order that we had not received. We were immediately placed on hold for several minutes, and it took an additional five minutes once someone answered to figure out what was going on with the order. When we asked if the order had even been started we were placed on hold again before being told they had just left with the food. Mind you, the restaurant is 1.4 miles from our apartment. Another 30 minutes passed before we called again. Again placed on hold for at least five minutes...shocking. While on the phone, the delivery driver showed up. Two hours had passed since we placed our order. My boyfriend asked to speak to a manager and asked her what could be done to comp us for our wait time. She promptly said it had nothing to do with her because the delivery driver was employed by GrubHub. At this point, I don't give two sh**s if the driver is Santa Claus; that's not how you deal with customers. The absolute least you should do is apologize. Unfortunately, we weren't able to go through our order before ending the conversation. Of course the order was wrong...I would expect nothing less considering the circumstances. Both entrees were combos and missing ALL items that made it a combo. Food was cold and soggy. GrubHub gave us a $15 coupon off our next order, but I'm not particularly happy with how they handled it either. The entire order should have been refunded. GrubHub said they could request a refund from Jimmy's but there was no guarantee they could get it. Will most definitely not order from Jimmy's again and likely GrubHub too.

This place is indeed bullshit. Would not honor coupons! Chose not to eat here because of foul odor inside.

Just tried to place a phone order, was placed on hold for 5 min, called back and the person answering the phone told me she had a line and to call back! What is the point of taking phone orders if you can not multitask between answering the phone orders and walk ins? Business owners please train your staff on customer service skills and how to manage a surge in customers. I went to Mickys in hyde park instead!

this place is bullshit. please don't waste your time and or money here. ordered food through uber eats and none of the food items came with fries. who the fucking sales you a burger with no fucking fries.
