"Even if you’re not staying at Ojai Valley Inn, you can still visit the 220-acre resort by checking out its collection of restaurants. Our favorite of the bunch is Jimmy’s Pub—a surprisingly casual all-day spot that overlooks a massive golf course. There’s a long bar inside, but we recommend grabbing an outdoor table to take advantage of the scenic grounds and prime people-watching. Bring a friend and snack on things like crispy buffalo shrimp, creamy avocado hummus, and wood-fired pizza topped with fennel sausage. You’ll get the five-star service you’d expect from a country club without the membership fee." - Nikko Duren

Great staff super friendly and good was the BOMB! It was so good and got out fast. Great place to eat check this gem out. They also have a nice patio area too. Cool vibe inside as well. They also have a private room for parties :)

I was there with a group of friends. The food was good, not great. The order of wings were okay. More like baby wings though. The service was just okay. Our server was a little bit absent and inattentive to what we might need. Service was a little slow and the food came out a bit too staggered. The Jimmy's Burger was very good.

OMG! They might be a little pricey, my daughter and I had an appetizer, 1 meal a piece and 1 drink each and somehow spent just over $50. But let me tell you, it was worth it. It is so hard to find a place that makes a good fish and chips basket. I know, it's not like it's steak or Iobster, but I have to give them a shout out here. The fish is not overly battered but evenly coated, and it is perfectly crispy. My daughter ordered the BLT and was happy. It wasn't soggy and bacon was cooked perfectly, according to her.

It's kind of a retro throwback like the Hollywood 40s maybe the fifties is a very nice tasteful well done atmosphere

Took awhile for the waiter to ask what we want to order. Then took 40 minutes to get the food. The food finally comes, I ordered the pretzel encrusted salmon, and it was very underwhelming. All they did was sprinkle a few crumbs of pretzels and a thin slice of lemon. Tasted dry with no seasoning, very sad because this was my birthday dinner. The other food looked very good so it was very unfortunate.

Never heard of a place where if you wanna remove item from your bill you'd still be charged for said item before paying/picking up order/even eating. All I wanted was sandwich when i called in my order Heather the girl taking my order asked if i wanted to change my side and listed items i added chili forgetting I cant eat beans and didnt ask before ending call if it had any and so when i came to get my order i politely asked if i could remove the item instead giving explanation to why because again i hadnt consumed any food or took anything so i saw no reason to why i couldn't. The girl said i can do that but total will still be 20$. Like ???? Huh?? After asking for clarification into why I'm still paying for item i don't want she said “well u asked for it didnt you? so u have to pay even if u don't want it” to which shocked me because never in my 8yrs of customer service let alone 6 of those working in food service have i ever charged someone for an item they dont want anymore before consuming or having in there possession and even then ive done refund if customers are unhappy. Needless to say if u wanna be treated like human and not just ATM don't eat here. Unfortunately I can say this isnt first time I've had horrible treatment here and needless to say this will be my last time. Ive heard the racist rumors of this place witnessing it first hand something crazy. Theres a reason its always empty, and if i could give it no stars i would.

The establishment had lots of good parking around it and was a welcoming area inside. We sat in the bar area and had acess to a wide variety of TV channels. I ordered a double fudge martini and it was delicious. Would be even better if served with a spoon to get all of the delicious chocolate out of the glass!! We had Cajun Chicken. It was a pasta dish with penna pasta and served with garlic bread. The dish had lots of delicious sauce over it. The meal also included a side salad. We chose the Cesar salad. My husband and I shared the meal and still took some home with us. Our server was also very friendly and was great with the couple of extra requests we had. I look forward to a return outting at this place. Our table was close to the door and we did not wonder through the establishment at all.

Our group was very pleased with our entire experience at this Irish Pub and Grill. The adult beverages where very good. The food was also great, tasted wonderful and served hot. Our waitress Olivia was exceptional. Looking forward to the next visit when in East Lansing.

Yelp
The summer months have arrived, and nothing is more of a spatial tribute to warm weather than a patio bar. Many examples around the area offer guests the chance to dine or imbibe al fresco in the open air while enjoying rays of sunshine and seasonal treats. A late spring or early summer breeze while enjoying a cold one with friends or sharing a delectable appetizer with family is peak Pure Michigan, minus a drive north of Clare. Lucky for me, this month's review allowed for both -- and a chance to revisit an old haunt from my younger days. Friday happy hours were fundamental destinations for my colleagues and me after working long weeks in the Lansing School District. The years I worked or volunteered at Sexton High School, my dear alma mater, would often lead to one or two adult beverages and a burger at Harry's Place. My time at Gardner Middle School on the south end of town lent itself to visiting Sammy's Restaurant & Lounge on Jolly Road. When I returned north to work at Otto Middle School, where my father was principal for many years, Jimmy's Pub's previous Frandor location hosted several early evening gatherings. We certainly enjoyed the camaraderie, but the food and periodic live entertainment were also highlights. When Jimmy's Pub moved to the Chandler Crossings development north of Lake Lansing Road in the late aughts, it reopened as one of the area's first smoke-free establishments, ahead of the 2010 Michigan law banning cigarettes in bars and restaurants. At the time, it was considered a risky business move, which seems almost inconceivable nearly two decades later. Jimmy's survived those early questions, and by leveraging an old-world Irish pub feel, coupled with genuine Midwestern kindness in its staff and regular clientele, it has continued to be a regular watering hole for college-aged customers and more senior, seasoned guests alike. During the times I visited recently, staff members were very courteous and accommodating during both the lunch rush and happy hour windows. Similarly, the regulars were friendly and welcoming, eager to share the good times on their minds with new faces. For a throwback, I was even able to connect with some former colleagues on the patio for happy hour. What needs work The traditional wings (5 for $10, 10 for $18 or 20 for $32) were of the standard bone-in variety. Nicely broiled with some lightly charred edges, they had a nice bite, if missing some next-level flavor had they been smoked first. I ordered them with the Carolina gold barbecue sauce, which delivered a pungent tanginess with a subtly sweet undertone. Less impressive were the fried shrimp ($12) off the summer lunch menu. When an item is presented as a seasonal special, I expect more than something from the freezer section at the local grocer. These bites were lacking in flavor and life. The accompanying french fries, however, had a nice dusting of peppery seasoning. What's good Faithful readers will know I had to try the olive burger ($14). With a price point that necessitates a top-notch handheld, this one came close to delivering value. It had chopped olives, which I always prefer over diced olives. It was sufficiently lathered in sauce and cooked to a proper medium. The house-made potato chips served as the perfect vehicle for the loose olives that fell off the burger and were themselves wonderfully crisp and salty. Similarly, the chicken Alfredo ($18) was a quality dish. Slices of grilled chicken breast rested atop a mound of cheesy, creamy penne pasta. The chicken was flavorful and tender and meshed well with the cream sauce, which was equal parts rich and yummy. The side Caesar salad and garlic toast were above par, too. Best bites Since my first time visiting the original Jimmy's Pub, I've been a big fan of both the Lebanese breadsticks ($8) and the ranch dressing they're served with. This shareable appetizer consists of pita bread that's cut into strips and fried to perfect crispiness yet retains the tenderness one expects from pita. The garlicky seasoning salt that the strips are dusted with keeps you going back for more. Dunking these strips in the ranch dressing, which is often in the discussion for best in the area, will have you adding Jimmy's Pub to your list of summer hangouts.

Yelp
The food is awesome, but the pricing is well above average for similar fare. The wait times at dinner are super long too, with sparse service. The sweet spot is around lunch! I recommend the Dirty Bird and kettle chips.

Joe B.

Yelp
Good food and relaxing atmosphere. I only had a Michigan salad, but it was fresh and flavorful with chicken. First time there, but I'll be back to explore the menu.

Susan_ E.

Yelp
Very disappointed in Jimmy's. We ordered take out. My Husband, French Dip, and I ordered Beef Nacho's Grande. The bread on my Husband's order was burnt black on one end. My nacho's were pretty much just lettuce and black olives on chips. It looked like I ordered a salad rather than nachos! Hardly any cheese, virtually no beans, and a tiny amount of burned beef. The delivery was quick, and our driver, friendly. Given that, the food was just luke warm. Probably the last take out order we'll have from there. They used to be so good.

Chris C.

Yelp
Excellent bar for drinks or food. Good service, and a great owner. Outdoor patio is a big plus as well. A great place to eat and drink at regularly. (Also the original no-smoking bar in the Lansing area, before the law.)

G G.

Yelp
Friendly; Good Chow & Better Service. It has a patio so bring your mutts & grab a beer or sumtin.

Bryant M.

Yelp
I remember when this place was in Frandor. We had some really good times there, and the pizza is always on point. Today we just received the best service from a young man named Charlie. He's got a special smile and did whatever he could to make sure we were smiling. Anyway, you know it's been a good day if you've been to Jimmy's!

Steven L.

Yelp
Very bad place looks alright from outside u get ur food and it's another story yuck I Puked in the bathroom and I will not be returning.

Allison R.

Yelp
Ordered carry out from Jimmy's and it wasn't bad. It's been over 10 years since I last dined there and I can't even remember what I had back then to compare, but this time I tried the Italian Grinder with fries. The sandwich was huge and I was able to make two meals out of it. My significant other had a the chicken wet burrito and it was also huge. He said it was good and he'd order it again. We also tried the coconut shrimp which were a little over crispy, but otherwise not bad. The sauce for the shrimp was like a sweet orange marmalade with a bit of a zip to it. And the Lebanese breadsticks were a little salty for my significant other, but I love salty so they were good for me. Everything out the door was about $52 before tip.

Michael B.

Yelp
wouldn't go for drinks bartender was not experienced and food had no flavor will not be returning

Kelsey F.

Yelp
Might be the odd one out, but I love this place. The pasta is hit or miss but the burgers are arguably the best in town. I have travelled to many big cities and they have some tasty burgers! Their chicken tenders are great and so are their Frodo Sticks and lebanese breadsticks! Great bar and finger food. Can't complain with good greasy and well-priced food. And the ranch dressing is GREAT.

Alexandra P.

Yelp
Ehhhh. Service was good. Always have to give props to great servers! This restaurant is freaking huge and post pandemic and with more young people turning away from these larger restaurants it just seems dated. The inside reminded me a bit of a Chili's or a chain and it was dead in there on a Thursday afternoon when happy hour should have been bumping. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and it was just drenched in sauce making it a unappealing sandwich. Idk. I'm not going out of my way to go back.

Katelyn B.

Yelp
Very understaffed. Did not get food at same time as the rest of the table. Everyone else was practically done eating by the time I received my food. Half of the orders were wrong as well. Food was unremarkable.

Alexis L.

Yelp
We decided to give Jimmy's Pub a try via DoorDash when the pandemic was going on! We started by ordering the nachos and have gone back several times since! Now our favorite thing on the menu is their wings. Best wings in town. Better than b-dubs!! When they reopened, we decided they would be the first place we go to eat out, and we were not let down! The potato skins are amazing. Their pizza looks delicious! The service was awesome, even on the first day of trying to get into the flow of things again. I'm excited to have found our new favorite spot!

Nancy S.

Yelp
We love Jimmy's!! We go here about once a week. They have a great variety of choices on their menu and we've not been disappointed. There servers are very nice and the food comes out quickly. I think when they first opened up after being shut down by the governor they didn't have enough help but they do now! Give them a try-- good place!

Kelly C.

Yelp
Jimmy has great bar food and has since I I was in college "a few years" back, when they were still on Grand River. Now that our oldest is at MSU it's always a go to as a family, to watch the games, or with large groups. They always seem to be able to accommodate our seating needs. Tonight we got takeout. Our 10 yr old loved the kids spaghetti and meatballs, my husband thought the nachos were perfect (special ordered (no beans, no sour cream, extra jalapeños) and they were made just as ordered. I got the Buffalo chicken wrap and fries and it too was delicious!

Tiffany H.

Yelp
We came in with a large group, which I know can be difficult, but I was pretty disappointed with our experience. I have been to Jimmy's many times, but it will be a while before I am willing to go back again. Hopefully they were just short staffed and they will be able to recover. We were there for an hour before they even told us what was going without food. Then it was finally brought out as it was ready. So, some family members were completely done with dinner before some food even showed up. Appetizers showed up in the middle of dinner. When we got our salads it took maybe 10 minutes and we had to go ask someone for silverware. No offers for refills. I thought a manager would at least stop by, but I'm wondering if they ended up in the kitchen to cook the food. I tried the wings and the sampler, both were kinda overcooked, don't really want to order those again, especially for the price of the wings.

Lori F.

Yelp
I like the atmosphere but the food isn't anything to write home about and it is expensive for what you're getting. Not returning!

Aruna A.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I live extremely close to Jimmy's and we wanted to try it after having seen it for the last year. Unfortunately, that was a mistake. Jimmy's pub served subpar food that could have been cooked in a microwave and purchased from the frozen section of a grocery store. My boyfriend's burger was very undercooked and overall the food was underwhelming to say the least. Staff seemed to be busy and not attentive due to understaffing. The menu at Jimmy's was mediocre, featuring high prices and unsavory quality. Chain restaurants are a better deal than Jimmy's in terms of food quality, menu, and service. We will not be returning to Jimmy's and hope Gordon Ramsay can arrive to save this place.

Katie K.

Yelp
Great, reliable place for a bite to eat or drink :) I have enjoyed every meal, especially the nachos which are HUGE!!

Megan E.

Yelp
I've been to Jimmy's Pub a handful of times and have never been disappointed. I've tried numerous dishes and loved everything so far! I recommend the sriracha bourbon jumbo wings, Michigan cherry salad, Greek salad, tortellini, fish tacos, and the California wrap! But everything looks delish! Service was also great! Also, if you're over 21, I recommend the Long Island! Best I've EVER had in my opinion!

Sandy D.

Yelp
I called in an order and had to go inside to pick it up. I had no problem with that. Once I was inside neither of the people collecting money or getting my order had face masks on! I was shocked. So if you are worried about COVID I would stay away for now. The food was very good but if they aren't wearing protective equipment now, I'm not sure I will go inside when they open.

Lindsey S.

Yelp
some friends and I went here during a busy and short staffed night. the food still was great, it took a while to come, but our waitress Cassie was so friendly and kept us informed as to when it would be out. she was excellent and we will definitely be back

Lisa K.

Yelp
Got take out from a delivery service (Door Dash) last night. Food was really good, lots of menu options and big portions. If you like meatloaf, theirs is great. Other family members had pasta, chicken and a burger. Only issue is we didn't get the drink with the kid's meal. Not a big deal.

Kevin V.

Yelp
The only thing I can say is the worst service I've ever had the food was ok not great

Katey M.

Yelp
My roommates & I ordered Jimmy's for dinner. By the time we got our order, which took two phone calls to the restaurant to get, it was cold & soggy. When we opened the fish & chips, the coleslaw was thrown all over & the box was a mess. The only thing that saved the meal was the dill dip. I LOVE the dill dip. Please do better, I want to come back & get more dill dip.

Anna W.

Yelp
I love this place! Everything is good here. My boyfriend and I always regret it if we don't end up coming here and therefore, we've become regulars. The pasta is always delicious and everything is homemade. We've recently been branching out from pasta and it turns out everything else is delicious too! The servers are very nice and it's never too busy. The best weeknight dinner around.

David O.

Yelp
Menu is a bit overwhelming. I went with the wet burrito based on a recommendation. It was pretty good; although I could have used some lettuce or other light condiments with it. It was a surprisingly good spot for a relatively quiet lunch. I did not have any of the service issues others have described. Service was prompt and frequent, but then again it was non-peak hours.

Casey N.

Yelp
Great food, especially the pasta. Nice staff, clean and fast! Service has always been fast and friendly

Laura G.

Yelp
I went for lunch with a coworker. I thought it had a nice pub atmosphere, but the food was overpriced for the quality. I had a club salad that really wasn't that great. It had a disappointing amount of meet and some weird bacon bit type of thing. I wouldn't go again.

Rachel D.

Yelp
When in a pinch, I decided to disregard all these reviews that mentioned terrible service and mediocre food. Do not make the same mistake!!! Gave ourselves an hour and fifteen minutes to eat, mentioned to the server that we were on a bit of a time crunch and still someone in our party had to leave before the bill came. No one in our party of 3 was impressed with their food. I had a chicken fajita wrap. I'm pretty sure the chicken was pre-cooked at GFS and then stuck in my wrap. My boyfriend's fish tacos and his mom's salad were both just "meh". Honestly, I've had better food at a fast food restaurant and considering we spent $40 on dinner, I would have much rather just had a McDonald's snack wrap.

Jessica S.

Yelp
I went there just the other night on monday instead of going to common ground.. What a mistake in more ways than one. After sitting , we had to go up the bar bar to see if there was a server who finally showed up. Ordered drinks after the server wasnt sure which she actually had or not. Then food, which seriously took forever, which I mean 35 minutes in a place that had five people at the bar and NO other tables. It was two pineapple chicken dinners and A salad. really 35 min ?? Just to have dry chicken ? It tasted as if it was made on time in the microwave and the waitress forgot about it for the next 30 minutes. We had some friends also meeting us there when they got there to eat something we said we didnt want to camp out in tents ti wait all night for the food so we left. Never recommend it or go there, unless you are having an all nighter with bad service and food.

K R.

Yelp
We have gone to Jimmy's for 2 years now and I have tried my best to like the place. It is very convenient and the idea of it is nice but it is lacking in the execution. The last time we went there about half the tables were dirty. This is pretty standard we have found. We wanted a booth and they are all dirty so we waited and sat and sat. When I asked a gall at the ordering station if we could have someone clean the table she was brash. We weren't in her section. When we did get a waitress she only knew of two wines available and didn't point me to the wine menu which I too forgot about but found after I ordered. I would have ordered differently if I saw the wine menu. All and all the food was fine but the waitress didn't come back and check to see if all was fine until we were about done with our meal. I think the place could really benefit from a manager showing themselves from time to time, walk around a bit and asked customers how they are enjoying there meals. Also, seeing wait staff sitting at the bar, whether off shift or not, looked really poorly for the establishment since the sense was they were short staffed to begin with. The dirty napkins under the legs of the tables to keep them level is really tacky and also draws attention to the dirty floor. I doubt we will go there again.

Dani W.

Yelp
Always a good meal, great service, and lots of TVS for the sports fan in all of us. Wide variety of food and drink for everyone.

Karen M.

Yelp
We have visited Jimmy's Pub several times and have enjoyed it but yesterday was awful. We were greeted after waiting a few minutes and were told that we could seat ourselves. It took us a few minutes to find a "clean" table. They were not wiped down completely. Our food was horrible. Our waiter dropped off my burnt burger and my daughter's sandwich which was not correct. He never checked back with our table to see if everything was ok? I had to ask another server for some condiments for my burger. She threw the mayo packets and was extremely rude. I felt bad for bothering her but there were no other employee in sight for several minutes. Our waiter never apologized and just seemed like he did not want to be there. No worries we will never return. The food tasted old and unsafe. Became ill later that day!

Brandon S.

Yelp
Jimmy's is still a good place to watch a game with friends. I am warming up to the food. This time I ordered the ham & cheese sandwich. It is full of three different cheeses and a good amount of ham. The service was slow and that is why it is still only three stars.

Michelle H.

Yelp
WAY UNDERSTAFFED!! Waited over an hour for food. All brought out at separate times. One of usr people never got his food. Would not recommend .

Chelsea M.

Yelp
Good french onion soup, fair priced drinks, but the table service could use a little help. Both times I've been in to Jimmy's we were served the wrong food because the waitress thought we ordered something else. We then had to wait for them to remake our food. Disappointing yes, but not a deal breaker. Their drinks are food and priced fair and food is really tasty. Stop in if you're in the area but watch out for the East Lansing and Bath police that patrol the area like crazy!

Dennis L.

Yelp
Nice clean pub with a wide variety of offerings on Their menu. I had the pastrami and it was great. Started with the stuffed quahog. Tad dry but very good and spiced perfectly for my taste Pastrami was perfect and no fat. All lean beef served on a toasted roll and steak fries. Can't wait to go back and try the dinner menu

KrisAnn B.

Yelp
I may be rating them a bit higher than they deserve because of how convenient it is for me to be able to walk there. It's not word class food or anything and it is a little overpriced but the service has always been great and the drinks are awesome. I love their martini menu and have slowly begun working my way through it. For food, I stick with their salads or the nachos. Both a okay, nothing spectacular but they will fill you up. The one thing food wise that I do have to give major props to is the sweet potato fries. I absolutely love them and this was the first place I had them. Just make sure they top them with the brown sugar or some of the effect is lost. Other than that the place is really clean and it is a good place to catch the game or enjoy a drink before heading out somewhere else.

Ralph K.

Yelp
We had Pizza and their sampler platter. The chicken tenders, cheese sticks and green beans where a frozen product. Pull them out and toss them in a fryer. Pizza we were pretty sure was also frozen pizza dough. Prices here aren't cheap and they charge for ever thing they can. There are much better places in East Lansing and the Lansing Area to eat at.

Jiah T.

Yelp
My review is a little biased as I had a known acquaintance serve us (and she was excellent). All of the food came out fairly fast, tasted pretty good for our party of four and the environment was very clean. It seemed pretty slow for dinner time though, the whole place was just kind of spread out.. a few people at the bar, a few people on that side, a few people in this section, etc... kind of weird, wasn't totally slow, but definitely not busy. Servers were just kind of standing around.. I need to go back and do a complete random visit for a second opinion.

Mary C.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night for a good bar burger. Ordered 2 Long Island iced teas- they tasted like ginger soda. Burgers were good, sweet potato fries were cold. Not worth $35

Kevin F.

Yelp
Went with four other people for after wedding drinks and some apps. We were greeted with a sign to seat ourselves, which we did. I found that a bit odd for a Saturday night, that and the fact that the place wasn't very busy. Our party was greeted by a nice gal who was going to be our server. She had to go to the bar to find out what single-malt scotches they carried, and came back with a list that included blends, but I'll put my scotch snobbery away for a bit and carry on with this review. Drinks came out quickly, and we ordered 3 different apps. They were quite good, but nothing out of the ordinary. For a pub, that isn't too concerning though. As long as they aren't terrible, I am a happy guy. Service sort of lacked from this point. She became a bit hard to find, but did show up before her absence became to frustrating. Her demeanor was pleasant though. Gave four stars as the place was nice and clean, the experience okay, but it just needs a little polish on a few areas to make it a five star review. Someone at the door to greet you would be a start, some basic liquor knowledge and a brush up on service skills would do the rest. Not a bad visit at all!

Another M.

Yelp
Great pizza sauce & toppings. I prefer a very thin crust, but I was happy with the pie! We had a Greek salad, medium pizza and 2 drafts $30. Great food with enough leftover for lunch tomorrow. Best pizza I have had in this area.

Jeff P.

Yelp
This was probably my worst experience at Jimmy's ever! I visit on multiple occasions both for lunch and dinner and you would think a slow Sunday afternoon/dinner would be a breeze. Far from the case. It started poorly with the service. One server came and took our drink order only to tell us another server would be helping us. Twenty minutes later, no drinks and no sign of the new server. We finally get our drinks and order. I'm not sure if the server put the order in as again we wait. Finally, I go to the bar and tell the bartender I'll pay for the drinks and we need to cancel the order since it has taken so long. Amazing the food shows up while I'm doing this. In delivering the food, a cup of soup is dropped and shatters adding to the experience. At this point, we tell her it needs to be to go. She takes the broken soup off the bill but basically a hollow sorry about the whole experience. I've had better service at a fast food place. I'll think long and hard before I go back. We ending up eating at another place, great service and the food was quick.

Julie R.

Yelp
When looking at the menu it's a little more pricey than your average pub but the food is delicious and well worth it!

Clifford B.

Yelp
I read previous reviews, and it seemed that my large group of 25, we're going not to like the food or service! WELL, let I am convinced that this place has 5star waitress's such as the one We had service 25 with 5 minor jabbering children under 6 years old, We had Heather as our waitress and she was very kind, caring, and well orientated as they come. She was attentive, knowledgable , understanding and concerned. All the food came hot, a lot , and we all ordered what we got. The Bartender was very knowledgable in mixed drinks, not killing you with alcohol , I am very happy with this Pub, and it does have some amazing dishes, the Chef does very well. Thank You from a large Family for a very delightful Dinner!! We will Return!!

Marianne B.

Yelp
A little out of the city but well worth the trip great food just a fun place to stop in for brunch great parking crew is friendly not over priced seating is great neat clean and down to earth come as you are atmospher totally enjoyable time
